This was a fun pit stop on our way to Baltimore. We chose it based on the yelp reviews. Large variety of home cooked meals on the menu with daily specials. The service was great and the decor was fun. The food was average. Better than fast food and good prices. BUT, when I went to the bathroom I saw the meatloaf and gravy in warmers exposed (with flies flying around) right next to the bathroom!!!! That's when my 3-3.5 star meal went down to 2. But, I've decided to be fair and give it a three because of the great service and decent food. read more

This place is a throwback to the 70s,,, very local crowd ,, family run owned and operated. Ice tea by the gallon good scrapple, ( if you don't know what this is keep driving to oc ,,,,) sausage gravy and chipped beef are all on the menu,,, good bfast, good lunch,,,and always decent dinner specials. If you want fancy this ain't it,,, Bfast is 8 bucks Don't matter what you get its 8 bucks with a drink. Prime rib special is always good and if you hit it right they have some good muskrat on a rare occasion. And yes that's good as well. From a food perspective it's decent,,,, culturally speaking it's off the charts,, oh btw be a little gruff with the staff there used to it ,, and your getting that treatment from them like it or not,,The one girl there I think did the mayonnaise commercial that the guy says " I said no mayonaise" and the waitress scrapes it off on the side of the table.. anyway this is a must see its rudunculous! !!! Good country home cooking. We found it by mistake and thought it was closed because there were no cars at 4:30 PM. Got a friendly greeting and then a steady stream of locals started arriving. EVERY one was greeted by name and the waitress knew pretty much what they wanted. It's gotta be good if the locals love it. I was not disappointed. Right off Rt 50 just East of Cambridge. I had the oyster fritter and it was fabulous. Never had one like that before. The home made upside down pumpkin cake was fantastic! I am picking Cindy's over Kay's now. read more

HISTORY IN CAMBRIDGE Whether your traveling from the East coast to Ocean City or just out for a drive and find yourself on the East Shore of Maryland, put Cindy's East Side Kitchen in Cambridge, on your place to stop if you're hungry. Cindy's East Side Kitchen is not your ordinary hometown restaurant serving family style foods. Located on Aireys Road just of US Highway 50 in Cambridge MD, the building is over 100 years old and has had several noted and historic faces over time. The original building was a neighborhood general store and a Sinclair HC Gasoline Service Station owned and operated by Hop Malone. In the late 60's Paul Kramer and his son Jack took over the business, provided a butcher shop serving fresh meats, fish and a variety of other sorted foods. Later the building was transformed and Carol's Kitchen was formed. In 2001, Cindy's East Side Kitchen was created and is owned and operated by Cindy Bayless. Cindy's three daughters, Danielle and, Kayla and Hanna (twins) run the everyday operations. Cindy's is opened every day, from 6:00am to 8:00pm, with the exception of Sunday, closing at 11:00 am. The décor includes a breakfast bar seating about 10, tables and booths, open kitchen and barn wood walls covered with tools used back in the day. Cindy's is great for the kids, has a TV and free WIFI. There is plenty of parking, which also includes a generous parking area for Campers, Rv's, Tractor Trailers and yes, just plain old tractors! Cindy's serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners and Homemade Desserts are prepared daily. Daily specials are provided with favorites such as, a Hot Roast Beef Sandwich w/ gravy and vegetable. Cindy's is a great place to meet locals, some of which have been coming here to get their gas when it was the Sinclair HC Gas-station. The local fishermen and hunters sit a 10-top table and tell the stories you can only hear from them. When in town and hungry you can ask anyone where to get some good food and Cindy's is always mentioned. A must stop on your way to the beach! Located right off route 50 for easy on and off access. The outside isn't much to look at and the inside is very small. Not good for a large crowd. They do have one table that can seat 8 but you will be cozy. The bathrooms are a million degrees, I think it's a sauna with a toilet. Ladies, you will have to go through the kitchen to get to the women's room, a little strange. The food is fantastic and cheap! I got the BLT and my bacon was perfectly cooked with a juicy red tomato! My dad ordered a side of corn nuggets and we all liked them so much we ordered a second side! Just be sure to ask for some powdered sugar on the side! The sweet tea was a little too sweet for my taste. At the end of the meal we asked for the check. The waitress came back and told us how much it was, no paper trail. While vacationing in the Cambridge area, we've been checking out various local establishments for breakfast. Online reviews were excellent, so we made our way to Cindy's on Monday morning around 10:30am. It seems like a small place on the outside but it is pretty spacious with a mix of booth seats and tables, parking is plentiful and there's also counter seating. We were greeted warmly, and told we could pick any table so we opted for a booth near the front. The menu had everything we were looking for so we settled on 2 blueberry pancakes and bacon (for me) and my husband had the Big Breakfast which consisted of a generous portion of French Toast, 2 eggs, home fries and a choice of meat (which included the option of "bologna" - not something we are familiar with in NJ) so he opted for "sausage". He said that the French Toast was not seasoned with cinnamon, but he ate it up anyway without complaint. I really enjoyed my blueberry pancakes and I must say they are really really blue!! We were pleasantly surprised that the total cost was well under our typical $30 that has been our daily breakfast tab, so stop on in and get a great meal at Cindy's!! read more

5 Stars in the Diner genre. We eat there as often as possible. My kids adore it. Home cooked seasonal local fare - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and I have had them all. Breakfast portions are so generous that I almost always skip the home fries because I cannot finish the meal if they are included. Folks visiting from outside the small and exclusive Scrapple Belt can get their scrapple fix here. Only thing I can't get here that I'd like to have is grits. Other local places have it. I also find others' comments on high prices misinformed; you get a ton of food for your money here, and it is home made. This is a heavy locals place and Dorchester County is not a 1%er type of area. And you will see all walks and colors here. Usually several cop cars out front, and you know they like a good deal. Cindy's is on a side road, Airey's road, right next to route 50, South of Cambridge. Road is well marked. Worth a stop. Especially when Muskrat is in season. Only place I have ever seen that critter on the menu. Extreme Locavores take note. Service is always friendly and attentive, as it is most likely either Cindy or her daughters taking care of you. read more

Whenever I am in the Cambridge area, I make an attempt to stop by Cindy's. The food is just like home cooking. All the locals go there and are friendly. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I would recommend their corn fritter pancakes, shepards pie, and meatloaf. Really it is all good. The only thing I would recommend as an improvement would be a larger servings of french fries. Go past all those fast food places. read more

The shepherd's pie was amazing. The meat was so tender! It was among the best SPs i've ever had, and i've had some good ones. Just meat & mash, nothing fussy, but a delicious flavor. Highly recommend it. The corn nuggets were tasty. The stewed tomatoes were on the sweet side for me, but that's just me; i'm sure most folks like em sweet. What can you say other than this is the best breakfast in Cambridge, MD. Cindy and her girls were on point today pushing out bacon, eggs and pouring great coffee by the gallon. We sat at the bar and met a ton of locals as we devoured healthy portions of French toast smothered in home made strawberry topping made on the premises as well as Texas toast drowned in a sea of Chipped beef. We washed it down with perfectly brewed coffee. The owner, Cindy sat down and asked all about where we were from and was very impressed that we came all the way to Cambridge to eat breakfast with her. A previous review mentioned muskrat she assured me that on occasion it would be a special. I'll have to come back and give it a go. read more

I can't honestly say 'as good as it gets' - but for what it is, it is certainly 5 stars. We knew (from Yelp) that this was a dive with great food. And what we found was... drum roll, please ... a dive with great food! We weren't looking for fancily folded napkins and white tablecloths. We sat at the bar and devoured our breakfasts, which were absolutely delicious. Service was good and prices were reasonable. My son said the bacon was the best he's ever had - and I had to agree, so we got another order. We would definitely go back here if we're in town again - there simply aren't that many GOOD choices in Cambridge! read more

We had breakfast here recently. The high ratings must be mostly for the prices, which are very reasonable. I ordered the meat and cheese omelette. No choices for cheese were offered and it appears they just use American. The toast was limp; coffee unremarkable and I had to ask for a refill. Best chipped beef I've had in a restaurant (and I'm really fond of chipped beef). My husband, whose best compliment is "it was ok") had his very favorite, corned beef hash.
