We got chocolate chocolate chip - it was moist flavorful ( richly chocolate) but not too sweet / with a butter cream frosting that perfectly balanced the cake. Great , prompt service - 1/2 star off for the standard size of cake being a bit small ( they are rich) but we love cake!!!!

Then I roll up to Krispy Kreme, this big, shiny, fancy-looking donut palace... and suddenly I'm starring in Cast Away 2: The Drive-Thru Edition. I'm sitting there like a forgotten glazed twist on the conveyor belt just spinning, waiting, slowly losing hope. I make my order. Boom. Automated voice. Great start. But then? Silence. No "Good morning." No "We got you." Not even a "Hold up, donut boy." Nothing. I'm out here wondering if I accidentally pulled into an abandoned Krispy Kreme museum exhibit. I've been sitting for five minutes, engine humming, soul fading, and I swear not even a sprinkle has moved inside that shop. It says they open at 5 a.m., but I guess I'm the final contestant in the "Does Kenny Even Exist?" challenge. I'm starting to think the donuts are fresh, but the staff is still asleep in the back like powdered sugar-covered hibernating bears. And look I haven't even tasted their coffee yet, but at this point, the only thing brewing is my disappointment. I came here for donuts and caffeine, not a lesson in invisibility. So yeah... I'm docking a star. Not because the donuts aren't beautiful (they're works of art). Not because the coffee might not be good (I'll find out eventually). But because I sat there so long I started contemplating my life choices and whether I was trapped in a Krispy Kreme escape room. I was telling her what colors i was looking for and pulled a picture from Pinterest, she offered to print out the design for the checkered floor and do the same design. She was at all times professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. This morning I picked up my cake from another staff member who must have been the same person that took my order! She was pleasant and prompt and even asked if I needed candles. Surprisingly, I had remembered mine - but greatly appreciated her asking. Great customer service! They were flexible with delivery times - available pretty much any day of the week or time. We made arrangements for delivery on a Sunday afternoon. The delivery process was quick and efficient. The cupcakes were very pretty and each 1/2 dozen came in a plastic resealable container so the cupcakes would stay fresh. The cupcakes were delicious but small - more like a homemade cupcake size than a bakery size. I have no doubt the baker used quality ingredients. We ordered the Classic Red Velvet, the Strawberry Lemonade, and the Mint Chocolate. The red velvet had a rich cream cheese frosting. The cake was bright red and moist. Very tasty. The Mint Chocolate had a vibrant mint frosting and chocolatey Devil's food cake flavored with mint. And our favorite was the Strawberry Lemonade. The cake has a hint of lemon with a strawberry filling and a delicious lemon-strawberry frosting. I wasn't sure what we were going to do with 1 1/2 dozen cupcakes but after tasting these, I have no worries they'll be gone in a few days! There is no storefront to pay for so why is the price so high? I should hope to get Texas-sized cupcakes for $2.50 apiece! The baker was very accommodating with delivery date and time, though. I had these delivered on a Sunday morning 3 days before Christmas. They arrived beautifully decorated and packaged in plastic cupcake containers. I was pleased with the presentation, but disappointed in the lack of size. These didn't even rise above the paper they were baked in. Also, I ordered cream cheese icing for both flavors, but only received one as requested. The flavor iced in butter cream was lovely, but the icing literally dripped right off them 5 minutes after accepting delivery. I immediately stored that container in my fridge. The other batch was so dry that I couldn't even choke half of a cupcake down. I had originally purchased these as a birthday surprise for a friend, but decided not to present them to her out of embarrassment. I really hope Monkeycakes Bakery can fix the errors, purchase a store front, and actually become a bakery. Otherwise, I don't see a future here for this business.
