After reading positive reviews (on another website), I booked a 2-bed room a week in advance, requesting upstairs. After calling in the reservations, I received a confirmation specifying "upstairs". We arrived to pick up the key that was left for us by the office door, since they were away at that moment. Turns out, they had given us a room on the first floor, not what we requested. The heater was turned on for us to arrive to a warm room. I did not think it would be that bad to stay on the first floor but I was wrong. Being so close to the walkway leading upstairs, we heard all foot traffic. Footsteps can also be heard in the room above us. It kind of got annoying after some time but at least people weren't up all night. My friend pulled down her covers to her bed and discovered a few strands of hair. There were strands in my bed as well. We immediately called for new sheets, which were brought to our room. I think her name was Robin, who brought the sheets to us. She took a look at the hair and said they were the maid's, who apparently sheds. She apologized for it. The heater turned off so my friend was able to turn it on again. That wasn't the case the next time we needed it on. For some reason we were not able to turn it on again. We did not bother since it wasn't that cold in the room. It stayed about 60 degrees. Breakfast for the next two mornings were pretty good. First morning it was stuffed french toast, the second, it was stuffed pancakes. Orange juice and coffee were also provided. Happy hour was okay. If you get there for the later part, towards 6, you get the scraps and leftover pieces of cheese and crackers (Wheat Thins and Club crackers). You have a choice of red or white wine. The white was pretty good for somebody like me who doesn't drink wine that often. Overall, the staff was friendly. It's a decent place to stay for a decent price, just avoid room #1 if you're a light sleeper. read more

Staying at the cinnamon bear was an interesting first time experience. The check in process was very smooth and easy but trying to navigate the property was a little confusing...The bed was very firm, a little too firm for my liking but I know there are people out there that would appreciate that hard as a rock mattress. Had an incredibly comfortable & cozy stay here on a recent weekender trip. It's conveniently close to Mammoth shuttle/trolley stops and a ~15 min. walk to the Village or Old Town Mammoth. The staff are friendly and engaging, especially during the morning breakfasts and evening "happy hour" wine reception. Also love that there's a hottub for soaking the soreness away after a day on the slopes. Only minor things kept it from being five stars - occasionally slow WiFi & the lack of easy-to-reach outlets (w/o having to unplug other in-room appliances/electronics) Nonetheless, I look forward to returning to this spot for future trips. read more

If you're looking for a home away from home, this is the spot. I don't think I've ever traveled to a hotel, motel, hostel, lodge, or other where I have felt so comfortable. From the friendly staff to the wine and cheese happy hour, I felt so relaxed at all times. The room was very clean and while the wifi isn't the greatest, it doesn't matter. Why come to the mountains to live on your phone anyway? I liked how it's a bit away from the village as it makes me feel slightly more remote and away from the hustle and bustle. This was my first time staying in mammoth and thanks to the great hospitality, it certainly won't be my last. read more

There was a black moth infestation in our room when we stayed here last week. There were at least 10 moths inside and they continued to come in somehow. We were told it was moth season, but we stay in the area yearly and have never had an issue at other hotels, hotels with even lower ratings. The hotel owners agreed to refund us 25% of our stay, which was $40 of a $160 night, and the $25 pet fee, for how uncomfortable and grossed out we were, this seemed like a low and unfair refund. I wish this had been the only issue with the place but the carpets were stained, there was a hole on the wall behind the heater, and overall, it was a beat down and gross room. I don't know how they have such high rating on here and on Expedia. Really bad experience, consider checking the place out in person before choosing to stay here... read more

Such an adorable little place to stay. It is located behind the premium mammoth outlets and I can't believe we didn't find it sooner..our room was right above the office/breakfast lounge which has its own stairway up and small patio where we could leave our boards and boots. This room was spacious with two twin beds, a full bed and a couch. It had a nice fire heater, ceiling fan, cable tv, and a mini fridge. It had angled wood paneled ceilings and walls..overall it was clean with the cute plaid, beary, cabin feel. :) Bathrooms were also spacious although the shower didn't drain too well, everything else was nice..(btw no hsir dryer bt i think you can ask for one dwn stairs). They have hot made to order breakfast as well as oatmeal and cold cereal. They also have happy hour 5-6 with wine, cheese & crackers. Sarah at the front desk is great! Responsive and helpful!! We stayed in the family room and it comfortably accommodates 3 adults in 2 queen beds. There is a gas stove inside the room keeping it warm and cozy all night with a thermostat that adjusts the temperature. For the price point and a night passing through Mammoth, it was a pleasant delight. In the morning, management was pleasant and friendly with the lobby area set up for a cozy breakfast freshly made in the kitchen. We had stuffed French toast which was absolutely delicious and I would have had another one if I had the space for it :) The only reason I've taken off one star is the fact that we could hear people walking upstairs pretty loudly, but that is a structural problem attributed to the dated building. Otherwise it was a comfortable stay :) Props to the management and the cook! I would come back here in the future :) read more

The management is always friendly and polite. Check-in and breakfast times are usually on time, and they offer happy hour with wine and cheese from 5-6. Only negative to say is that our window had no screen, so all the mosquitos and flying bugs flew in throughout the night. It was warm and leaving the window closed with no fresh air wasn't a good alternative. read more

Worst night in lodging in a long time. Tacky, fan didn't work, uncomfortable bed,bare wires on sticking out of wall where even children could reach. They said there were bears and we couldn't leave anything in the SUV but the window didn't even close in our room where we kept our food from the car. They had a huge bright street in the parking area which we saw in our window all night. The blind was broken on one window and the other shut but it didn't keep the light out. Put up some curtains! I have just had a very bad experience with the Cinnamon Bear. My wife and I have stayed there many times over 20 years. There have been a few times when we could not make it and had to cancel. I just made a reservation on Monday, but now have to cancel due to family things. I sent an email to cancel and they are going to charge me $89 that was the initial deposit. This is not right. They will easily book the room. I spoke with the woman manager but she would not budge. Beware with these guys. Also, I did not see on the site that they would charge this amount. That was my fault. I am 20 days out from when I would have stayed there. I am really upset and will not be returning to this place. PERFECT! We originally booked a spot at the main mountain lodge, but we came a day earlier and booked our spot here.... and oh, dont we wish we booked the ENTIRE STAY. Perfect location to bars & restaurants, amazing OWNERS, delicious fresh homemade breakfast, and hot tube was the way to end the night. And the room, Was very cozy, super warm we were actually hot in 30 degree weather, and had blow dryer and everything. Also, you are available to a FREE shuttle to the slopes & village. Booked this place for a little weekend getaway. Looked really cozy and cute. Which it was. During covid, they served us breakfast at the door. Very nice. Limited to what you got but good little breakfast with a couple extras. Our room faced the back to the forest. Great view. Ok so the little bad part. The matress is 100% yuck, as in not comfortable. Could use a little help. They did add an extra foam top, but didn't really help. Suggest to start replacing them. All in all, nice place to stay. I would recommend. Oh bring your own pillow. The *** Michelin type rating awarded to Cinnamon Bear Inn is the culmination of the comparison/result of having either endured or enjoyed visits to homes, lodges, B & B's, hotels, motels, hostels, condos, & so called five star resorts and other tents and shacks worldwide over the past 45 years, more or less. Three Michelin type restaurant stars means that Cinnamon Bear Inn is worthy of a special holiday journey. My loving wife mainly accompanies me on my annual ski trips to humor me. We cannot afford to own a private home at each of our favorite haunts, so we rent according to our needs, depending on whether that is one night or several weeks. She likes staying at Cinnamon Bear Inn, so do I. Here is why: In the world of ski resorts, location says it all. In its own right, Cinnamon Bear is worth one star merely by its having trumped everything in the world in its actual category which is (for a holiday ski resort) a very modestly priced B & B. Quaint, cute, old fashion, quiet, clean, well kept, a retro kind of place that is outrageously and ridiculously well located. If it were a diamond gem, the Cinnamon Bear Inn would be rated a tiny, colorless, grade D VVS1 in a retro setting, ideally cut and brilliant. Worth at least a detour, if not a special journey. The Cinnamon Bear Inn is within 500 feet of everything, except noise, as it is a small place on a quiet side street. If you arrived by automobile, as did we, park the vehicle and forget about driving for a few days because you will find yourself not requiring or even considering the need for an automobile. If you arrived via your very own private jet then the complimentary shuttle from the airport will deposit you and yours directly at Cinnamon Bear Inn, altho most of those people are likely staying at a private estate nearby or at least in one of the newer more fashionable and stupidly expensive places. Mere steps to your room and a delicious Cinnamon Bear breakfast, the humble inn is only about 150 convenient feet from the Intouch Spa (for some luxury pampering to soothe a lovely wife's aches and pains after a day of whatever). My wife would give *** stars to that essential business, but that is a separate story. Care to enjoy something from world famous Schat's Bakkery which also happens to be there as well? Schat's is located next to the Mammoth Luxury Outlets (in case you or perhaps your significant other decides to replace that old Coach handbag at the last minute before going to dine at Slocum's or any of a number of fine local establishments, all of which are conveniently accessible simply by boarding Mammoth shuttle stop 13, conveniently located right there also and which is free always and runs every 15 minutes to everywhere in town until the wee hours. If, for example, a special someone in your party has just experienced a hair or nail emergency, there are a couple of salons in the immediate area at your service. At your convenience, a one minute ride on the shuttle will take you and your skis or snowboard and whatever other stuff you require (yes even your spouse as well) from shuttle stop 13 going anywhere in Mammoth but especially to the free Mammoth Village Gondola. The always free Village gondola will get you to and from the Canyon Lodge, from which you may get directly onto the lifts and world class slopes (after buying lift tix which may be gotten at either the Village from whence you just arrived on the free gondola or at Canyon Lodge). With respect to convenient amenities, the town of Mammoth and Cinnamon Bear Inn make even Aspen look like a one horse town frankly, although the Aspen locals might tell you that they want it like that. Hah hah. Aspen has many private estates, many with their private helipads, but only one tiny and ridiculously overcrowded overpriced market and drugstore, a butt load of overpriced establishments plus McDonald's, and 5 mammoth sized mountains all serviced by an underpowered free shuttle system. I will still take Mammoth with its great little town, fantastic shuttle system and three base lodges (Canyon lodge, Eagle lodge and the Main lodge), plus a McDonalds as well. Hence the Michelin ***star rating for the meek and humble Cinnamon Bear conveniently and outrageously located at the center of a great place to experience a winter mountain holiday. A stay there rivals anything on the planet for my money. You can have your mountain home and private helipad and B.S. fancy dining. I will gladly hug the little Cinnamon Bear. The downside is that wifey cannot bring her little Fido because that is not allowed. Then again, sometimes that is a good thing as there are just the two of us in bed instead of the usual threesome. I wish I could say good things about this place, since the people who work here are nice and it's a good location. But to be honest, no way could this ever be a 5 star rating. The room was clean, but overall, the whole place needs a major remodel for the price of $119/night midweek. It looks like a place from the 70's, old tv, old furnishings, droopy bed, and the hot tub area is all rotted out, with nails sticking out on the deck. It is also not very hot. The walls are thin and floors are super creeky. I could hear everything from the people above, and if someone walks around at night or early morning, takes a shower, or flushes the toilet, you will hear it all. There are other places, including condos, that are not much more in price, but definitely mountains above this place for quality. Thought I'd give this place a try, but it's not worth it. read more

I had to give it something to write a review so 1 star it is and that is generous!....how this place has managed to get 4 stars is beyond me!! Horrible customer service! I mean if you are able to even reach someone for service! we were scheduled to stay and asked for early check in yet called several times to see if that was possible. Never got a return phone call or a message that we had asked for. When we arrived the place was completely darkand nobody there to help us or answer any questions. We went to John's Pizza to kill time which was amazing because they make amazing pizza. We then went back to the bed-and-breakfast where we still could not check in and decided to head home. So let's just say we paid not to stay there because we were charged $98 for canceling. If you are a fan of communication this is not the place for you. Calling the next day and explaining the situation got no resolution and actually got attitude so good luck if you choose this place to stay!! And let me add that it was starting to thunder storm as we were trying to check in and the only person who even had an answer and could somewhat speaking english was the painter or handyman who said that the owner or innkeeper would be back at 3 PM RIDICULOUS!!!! read more

This is our first experience at a bed and breakfast. Our stay here was enjoyable, comfortable, and cozy. We stayed in the king room (#6) which was spacious enough and also had a small dining table, stove fireplace, tv, and a great view of the woods. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and clean. The water in the shower was a little inconsistent and there is some wear and tear, but the room provided everything we needed for a short getaway. Breakfast is served every morning and each one was very delicious. We had berry and chocolate chip pancakes and stuffed French toast. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I was thoroughly pleased with my two nights stay here and the owners of this B&B earned the five by giving personal attention to my accommodations. My friends and I arrived early Friday morning which initially caught them off-guard, but they went ahead and showed us a room anyways. The room was cozy, clean and the heater kept it consistently warm. The shower worked well and never failed in providing hot water which is important when you're skiing or snowboarding. Another nice touch is the lobby area which also served as the dining room. It has a homely feel to it and a nice place to chill and hang out. There was always coffee and hot water for tea available at any time of the day. The breakfast is good, it's cooked in their home-style kitchen and they serve it up fresh. We had blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs the first morning, an asparagus and cheddar omelet with diced potatoes the next morning. The jacuzzi is hot, but small, it only takes four at a time which was regretfully sufficient enough from this horrid dry season. They even noticed that my friends worked for the military so they gave us a discount on the room rate, from 215 to 179 which is pretty good by Mammoth standards. I will definitely see them again, hopefully in a white, winter wonderland. read more

This has to be the cutest inn on the mountain, and even if it isn't I am only staying here every time I come. We stayed here for 4 days in February (a little late I know) for a ski trip. Check in was seamless and the gal upfront let us know about all of the little extras which I will get into. This Inn was I believe a 10-12 min drive to the mountain, 2 miles to the village, and a stones throw away from small restaurants, convince store, and gear shops. The area also have a shuttle that stops at multiple places on the main road. The inn itself had maybe about 12 rooms and a cozy check in area with a fireplace and dining tables. They served breakfast every morning ranging from pancakes to omelets, and had a happy our with wine and cheese in the afternoon which was my favorite after a long day of snowboarding. The inn also has a hot tub which we took full advantage of, again nothing like soaking when your aching. They also have fun games you can check out for the night we played cards against humanity. This place overall exceeded all of our expectations and was reasonable priced. I highly recommend staying here. read more

We had never stayed at a B&B before, therefore I have no basis of comparison. The customer service was excellent. Janelle was exceptionally hospitable. The inn has a cozy atmosphere. Much different than a chain motel where every room looks the same. We stopped in Mammoth on the way home from Yosemite during Bluesapolooza. We didn't have a reservation upon arrival (5 pm). We were dirty from camping the last 3 days, craving a shower and a mattress to sleep on. We called several hotels with no luck. Expedia showed that there was one "Economy Room" left at Cinnamon bear. Expedia wouldn't let us book it for some reason. We called and no answer. So we drove over and talked to the innkeeper, Janelle. She said that there was a cancellation and the economy room was available. She warned us that it is tiny and best suited for one person. She handed us the key so we could check it out prior to booking. The room (9a) was clean and comfortable. It was small but perfect for our stay. Booking was a breeze. She knocked $10 off of the total. Prices may have been inflated due to the busy weekend. It was still the most inexpensive room in the town based off of our research. I should note that if you are disabled, over half of the rooms are upstairs and the inn does not have an elevator, to my knowledge. Call to request an accessible room prior to booking. Overall, the experience was pleasant. I would recommend to a friend and stay there in the future. The pros: customer service, parking, comfort, hot breakfast, free wifi, variety of TV channels, close to free trolley, beautiful view. The cons: leaky shower head/low water pressure, only one electrical outlet in the room, had to book in person, check out is 10 am (although flexible). read more

This is the kind of place that "will do" as long as you are not picky. Although a little outdated, service was solid from the moment we walked in. Check in was fast and easy. To our luck, a bigger better room was available. It is five of us friends on snowboarding trip, and along with the pull out mattress, we all had our own bed. Breakfast was included with our reservation... the homecooked pancakes were delicious! If it were not for the staff, this review wouldnt have as many stars. We received excellent service on our stay here, and would prefer service with a smile over a five star resort, any day. Ps. There is hot water indeed, but only for four of us as it ran out before our fifth friend could shower. If you're going with a group, wake up early. Dibs on the hot water ;-) read more

We stayed one night, and within minutes of arriving wished we hadn't made the reservation. To begin, the room had a musty smell. The towels and washcloths in the bathroom were damp from condensation on the wall behind them. Some of the electrical outlets did not work, including the one where the lamp was plugged in, and all of the outlets were loose. One of them sparked. We did not plug anything in for fear of a fire starting. This is not a place I would recommend. read more

It's funny that most places with the word "bear" in them are great, and this one is no different. Last year for a snow trip we booked 4 nights here, and safe to say I'd return again. Large cozy rooms, that feel like small apartments. Ability to park your car just a few feet away from your door which will always be better then the mega resort hotels where if you want to get something out of your car means walking 1/4 mile and then maybe having to tip some vale guy just to grab your iphone charger. See you back in 20. Room includes tasty breakfast in the main lodge which has a very cozy feel as the fire roars and you meet new friends. After a day of Shredding you can't miss out on the complementary wine and cheese! The only gripe would be the whole place looks out upon the back of a shopping center.
