This was a fantastic hotel for under $100 (end of summer/early fall). Not only was the bed super comfortable (pretty certain it was memory foam), but you get an actual fresh cooked breakfast in the morning; ours was ham and cheese omelettes. I came here as a pre Mt Whitney treat to get some real rest after camping in high elevation and was not disappointed. The service was friendly, the room was super cozy and the toiletries provided were actually quite nice. The only issue (reason why it's 4 stars and not 5) was the shower; the shower head in our room was very short, I'm 5'10" and I had to crouch about 5" to get my head under the water, it also liked to alternate between burning magma and glacial cold. But really the bed and service made up for that and I would certainly return. read more

I stayed here with my husband and best friend for NYE from 12/31 until 1/3. Here are the positives. We had the 1 bedroom suite and it was very comfortable. The mattresses, pillows and comforters were all comfortable. It could have accommodated 5 people; you just all have to share a bathroom. The suite also had a cooking stove, microwave and small but roomy fridge. It also came with some plates, glasses, cups and utensils. They cleaned and replenished our towels everyday. The owners were very nice. Breakfast was good on all 3 days. We had french toast day 1, mixed berry pancakes day 2 and ham and cheese omelette day 3. They have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cereal and oatmeal. We also did not have trouble parking, partly because we always took the free shuttle around town and up the resort. Shower had good running hot water. Three negative things I can say is our heater (which was a stove controlled by a thermostat) was not working during our entire stay. They were not able to repair it and since it was New Year's, it also could not be repaired right away by an outside person. So, they provided us with portable heaters and that did the job for us. Also, if you are on the first floor, the footsteps of the guests upstairs can be heard..pretty loud...especially if there are about 3 kids running and jumping all over the place. That also did not bother us because we are always out most of the time. When we got back, we all crashed in bed and too exhausted to even hear the noise. I also tried using their phone in the room to call them about the heater, but I forgot to mention this to them. But I have a cellphone so no big deal. Some people would probably have freaked out because of these and demanded certain things, so if you are picky like that then you probably should not stay here. We were warm and comfortable and I think that's good enough. There was not a lot to choose from for breakfast, but whatever they had was delicious and got us full. They can give you a second serving if you ask for more. This is not the Four Seasons Hotel, so do not expect luxury. This place and the folks running it offered our basic necessities and were very hospitable and to me that's all that matters. I would have given it 5 stars, but it had some faults so I settled for 3. Would I stay here again despite these faults? Yes, I definitely will. read more

After I booked this place, I read the reviews and I was a little worried. Crusty rooms? No wifi? No hot water? No heating? I was a little worried, and maybe because my expectations were reduced because of these reviews - I was actually very, pleasantly surprised. I think I also might have gotten lucky and got the room close to the Lobby (Room 15). I had no problem whatsoever with the WiFi and the room was very charming and clean, with a beautiful view of the woods. The heating worked, and the water was hot too. I took a hot bath in my bathroom and it was totally fine. I have no idea what some of these reviews brought up (but then again maybe it has to do with the room?) They have two buildings - I think the ones by the main room might be nicer? I loved the included breakfast in the morning. Service was great. I enjoyed my stay here. read more

Had the pleasure of staying at the Cinnamon Bear Inn these past few days. What a cozy, affordable, convenient and relaxing place this is! The owners are incredibly kind and accommodating, and we really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and happy hours. Parking was never a problem, the rooms are nice and clean and the inn itself is located close to restaurants, shops and ski lifts. Our favorite feature might have been the thermostat controlled fire place, it worked really well and gave a homey feel to the room. I will give negative stars if yelp allows me. I made reservations online and they called me to tell me rooms are over booked within less than 24 hours. Lucky we found even better place to stay! I understand sometimes system made mistakes. However, they call me in the late night before we checked in. It is either bad management or they want to make double money if someone cancel it in last minute. Also I don't want to make difficult for staffs, so I asked manager to call me next day. Absolutely in love with this place!!! My husband and I came here yesterday for our anniversary and we both couldn't be happier! We arrived just after happy hour and the owner was so nice and gave us complementary wine and cheese even though we were 45min after it had ended. The room is so cute and perfect I felt as if I was in a home away from home. To top it off the complementary omelette was sooooooo yummy! Why would you ever stay at some crummy motel that's more expensive and has no pizzaz or love? Definitely worthy of a five star! read more

This breakfast in bed was amazing, called last minute and they accommodate my 4 friends and dog. Beyond welcoming staff and even offered a glass of wine during "happy hour". You can't beat this place for the price. The exterior is misleading but once you're in your room you feel more comfortable than in expensive hotels. The furniture is nice from the dining set to lounge chairs and four post bed. The bed is comfortable. The room was warm and toasty when we arrived with a fire in the stove. The people are very friendly. And you can't beat the quick and delicious breakfast. Today was ham and cheese omelets and toast. I nearly had a five star experience here, but I don't want readers to confuse my rating with a legit 5 star that one might expect from a modern ski resort McVillage type of environment. This place has a decidedly more old school ski town vibe. Yes, you can walk to shops and dining, but you might be crossing the major road in town... fine with me. The good news is you won't be paying modern McVillage prices here at the Cinnamon Bear. The room was nice and spacious. It was just me & a ski buddy, but you could have easily and comfortably slept five people in the room we had. The breakfast is good and filling and beats the average chain hotel Continental. Coffee seems to be available all day in the lobby/living room of this B&B... a bonus. Friendly and very accommodating management here, nice to sit and have a sip and chat with. Perfect place for families on a budget, couples, or small ski buddy groups. Don't recommend for hard partiers though as you will likely wake up other guests in this charming, older inn. read more

This place didn't make the staying here fun. I got bit by bedbugs which was disgusting and the A/C didn't work. Our screen from our window was broken which is why we couldn't open our window. They gave us a fan but it hardly helped with the heat. Another thing the water was waaay to cold to shower. We had to wait over an hour for warm water. It was just ridiculous specially with how much they charged us for our stay. This place should have the same prices like how motel 6 has them. LOW! read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but I left this place just feeling like I needed to. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We arrived for check in after the lobby was already closed, but it was a seamless check in process. We stayed in room 6, which was upstairs. Our night was very quiet, warm, and cozy. Breakfast in the morning was phenomenal (stuffed French toast, coffee, orange juice). The staff was so polite and we truly felt welcome. Great place to stay if you have nowhere else to go. Let me first start off by saying that I've stayed here in the past, and even though I stayed in the smallest room, which was over priced, the workers there Janelle and Rudy were so nice and hospitable that I was able overlook the places short comings. But this last trip up there, there was no overlooking all the issues. First Janelle and Rudy are no longer working there, and the staff there is completely incompetent. I should have realized what I was walking into when I called well over 20 x to finally have someone pick up and answer with "What!" When asked if I can talk the managers, I was told they don't work there and will never work there again. Not very professional, but I needed a place to stay. Once I was there the room wasn't ready and was told that I could not stay in the main guest area since they were closed for lunch. So had to leave my luggage and items in my car. When I went back to ask when they'd be reopen the door was locked and they wouldn't answer the phone again. When I finally got my room, the towels looked dirty, the carpet needed a vacuum the mattress smelled and I pray what Bugs I saw were nothing but gnats. I requested a new room that night, but surprise no one picked up. The next morning during breakfast I requested a new room and was told NO and if I went somewhere else I would not get my money back. So with not wanting to waste money I grabbed some complimentary pancakes...and were either burnt or cold, or in a fun twist both. Bottom line since Management has changed, it has gone considerably downhill. The building needs to be severely remodeled. I get the mountain look but chipping paint, rotten wood stairs, and a hot tub that had trash around it, is disgusting. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to stay somewhere nicer or at least with friendlier staff. read more

We had a trip to Yosemite National Park, and I found this place through a third party site after looking at akl kind of places, but when I saw the place I fell in-love, and the amazing costumer service was just a bonus, a jaccuzi that wasn't listed on the site, a beautiful and comfortable room with a great breakfast. This is a nice cozy B&B. It was the first time we stayed. It's a short drive to the Mammoth Ski Area. We liked that the hot tub was really close to the rooms. We had room #4, it's nice and spacious. The area where you have breakfast is nice. There are about 5 tables so they're able to serve multiple parties at once. We had berry pancakes. They also have cereal, oatmeal, teas, coffees and orange juice. The staff was really nice. They have parking in front of their Inn, so it's convenient during those cold nights. When we go back to Mammoth, Cinnamon Bear Inn will be on our list! read more

Stayed here 3 nights in February for a ski trip. The front desk staff was seriously amazing. The rooms were quaint and inexpensive and clean. So why 3 stars? Well, it's an old hotel and the walls are paper thin. You can hear conversations clear as day through the walls. It was really annoying at night when people would use the hot tub and we could hear every word they were saying at 4am. I probably wouldn't stay here again. Please do not stay here, they are dishonest. When we arrived at the Cinnamon Bear Inn, they did not have the room type available that we had booked. Bummer. Furthermore, despite their advertisement of offering HBO, they informed us that in fact they no longer have HBO. Be warned! Given these discrepancies, we asked the attendant at the front desk if we simply could cancel the reservation and have the hotel issue us a refund. The front-desk attendant agreed to this, and we left to find another hotel in the area. Reasonable, right? Wrong! After waiting several days, the the Cinnamon Bear Inn had not issued us a refund. We then contacted the hotel and Kayak/Hotels.com (through which we made the reservation) about issuing our refund, but the Cinnamon Bear Inn refused to acknowledge that it ever offered us a refund, and thus they refused to provide a refund, all in direct contradiction to what they said to us when we left the hotel. In short, they lied to us, and we ended up paying for two separate hotel rooms that night. In summary, the Cinnamon Bear Inn did not provide us with the room type that we reserved, they did not have HBO (despite still advertising as offering it), and they then agreed to offer us a cancellation/refund, but later they refused to acknowledge this when contacted. We stayed here during a break from hiking the JMT and we were really looking forward to a nice stay in a hotel, but this was a bad experience. Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00pm and after waiting around for an hour for someone to show up, a cleaning lady finally showed up at 4:00pm who didn't know what to do but she at least gave us a key to our room. However the shower had almost no water pressure and it wasn't even worth it to try to shower because the water was either scalding hot or too cold. We told the manager who finally showed up over an hour late and she said there was nothing she could do. I asked to talk to her boss but she said they were on the road and weren't answering. Very bad experience and would not recommend to stay here. Better places to stay in Mammoth Lakes. read more

I was expecting a real bed and breakfast where I could leave my room at any time and go into a living room/dining room and have snacks and coffee available. Woke up early and could not have coffee until the breakfast room opened at 7:30. Rooms are just like a motel, clean though and a fair ambience. Breakfast was very minimal. I was expecting some meat with breakfast or at least fruit and danishes. Only had French toast and was still hungry. Had to go find a restaurant. Cold cereal was available. Had a good four days here. The owners were very friendly and cooked a great breakfast. The only issue we had was the bed. The bed frame was loose and squeaked when ever you got on it. The box spring mattress was also worn out. We finally pulled the mattress onto the floor to get a good nights sleep. The location is good. Its off the main drag, in a little more of a light industrial area. The heater in the main room and new tile in bathroom were a nice touch. Went there on my first trip to Mammoth. I would say the rooms are very nice, makes you feel at home. However, it was kinda overpriced. We paid $150 per night... I guess mammoth is overpriced...
