Elevated hostel stay if your used to being homeless and don't mind being your own hotel security. Let me start with the good news. Check-in? Easy. Room? Clean and exactly as pictured. Bathtub? Big and unlimited hot water. Now for the immersive experience. If you've ever wanted to know what it's like to sleep inside a large cardboard box with a dozen or so other adults, kids and yippy dogs, this is your opportunity. The aesthetic is comfort economy. The acoustics? Philharmonic-level clarity. Thin walls. Hardwood floors. Hollow-core doors. Generous gaps under the doors. The result? You will become intimately familiar with the comings and goings of every guest. Conversations in other rooms? Crystal clear. Footsteps? Surround sound. Door slams? Will make you jump out of your skin when your dead asleep even with earplugs in. This lodging option could work if when you roll the dice, ALL the other guest are considerate, self-aware humans. You may only hear every day pleasantries and loud flatulence. Unfortunately, we rolled snake eyes and both nights we were woken at 2 a.m. Night One: 2am door slamming, foot stomping, and blasting "how to make a million" on TicTok and smoking directly outside our open window. Later that day apres-ski, the same guests were screaming "Help, Help", and when we rushed to respond, the moment of panic appeared to pass as he got his joint lit. We called in the issues. Management reviewed the cameras, gave the other guests "a firm talking to", and we were told management is available by phone until 1 a.m., and after that, we should call the police ourselves. Nothing says "relaxing getaway" like being deputized as the overnight security team. Night two featured another 2am wakeup call of prolific barfing, and enthusiastic drunken attempts to convince women to come inside. After failing to persuade anyone to continue the fun, to their credit, the guests entered quietly. We still heard everything. Because you hear everything. Now, about the "Bed and Breakfast" designation. We chose this place over our usual Mammoth Mountain Inn or Empeiria High Sierra stay because "bed and breakfast" sounded quaint and charming. We imagined something at least moderately delightful before hitting the slopes for the day -- especially at $600 per night. Breakfast consisted of what can best be described as a 7-Eleven survival kit: shelf-stable vanilla-flavored milk, Frosted Flakes, and an oily convenience store Danish of indeterminate age. I would not call this breakfast. It's what you would find if you were foraging abandoned buildings post-apocalypse. You would find it because everyone before you passed it up. To be fair, with one exception, the other guests were perfectly polite. One yippy dog made itself known throughout our stay but respected quiet hours. Management did their best from afar, to reign in the obnoxious guests. But here's the issue: if anyone talks loudly, walks heavily, whispers in the hallway, owns enthusiastic footwear, or makes any post-midnight life choices... you will know. With no 24 hour guest support, guests are simply at the mercy of the other guests. read more

This only good thing I can say about this place is the location, snacks they provided and that they had the portable heater on when we arrived. Other than that this place is not great. The Wi-Fi barely worked to the point it pretty much was non-existent. The Roku tv didn't work at all so we weren't able to connect the entire time we were there. The beds were really loud and creaky and when we were trying to use the tub it didn't have a rubber stopper so we had to call the maintenance line which was not on site and seemed like they were outsourced. When I asked when the maid service would be able to bring the tub stopper, they said they left for the day which was 2:30pm. The maintenance person said for me to open another room and take the stopper out from there to use. I had to check two different rooms before finding one. Also, when I asked to have the tv fixed (see photo) they said they messaged the manager. The next day after it continued to not work I inquired again and they said the manager didn't have his phone on him so he must've not seen the request. The entire time we were there the tv never got fixed. They kept saying the surveillance cameras worked so they didn't know what was wrong. No one ever came to check the issue. Do not stay here. It is too expensive for how poorly it's run. The room we arrived to was not clean. There were dirty towels and napkins everywhere, including one towel that may have had blood on it. It clearly had not been cleaned when the last guest left. We were moved to a room that was at least clean but we checked the mattress for bed bugs and found black specs in all the crevices. Ended up just booking a stay somewhere else. The manager will not refund us and claims we got $250 in "upgrades". All communication is done through text. I never saw anyone at the front desk. I'd sleep in my car before I booked this place again. read more

I booked a night at Mammoth Inn via Google rate, feeling a bit skeptical but also not wanting to spend over $200 for one night. Everything is done through text, which was fine, but I asked for an early check-in around 10:30/11 AM and didn't hear back until 1 PM. We stayed in Room 3. First off, there's no A/C. The ceiling fan was on, but when you turn it up high, it shakes like crazy. You can tell it's fallen before because there's a crack and some patchwork on the ceiling. This was a bit worrying since we had to sleep with the fan on because it was too hot. There were two sets of towels but only one washcloth. They provided disposable toothbrushes and tiny toothpaste, which was convenient. The TV had Roku, which was nice, and the snacks and drinks were a nice touch--just make sure to check expiration dates! The fruit cups in the fridge were expired, so we threw out the Nutri bars and double-checked the cereal and milk. When I let them know about the expired food, all I got was an "oops, sorry about that." The fridge barely kept anything cold even though it was on the max setting. Overall, it was a decent stay for one night, but I probably wouldn't stay longer. The room was clean on the surface, but under the bed, it was still a bit dirty. read more

Decent lodging located a few minutes from Canyon lodge by car, and a few blocks away from a shuttle stop to the Village Gondola. I thought our rate was a little overpriced, but that is probably to be expected for a weekend. Rooms themselves provided all the basic needs and services, and check-in/out procedures were all pretty straightforward. Note: the parking instructions are not that clear. There are 2 parking spots in the back of the hotel, but only 1 belongs to the hotel. We were not sure which spot belonged to the hotel, and we guessed wrong since someone knocked on our door at night asking to move out of their spot. It was also not clear that the path directly in front of the entrance is a parking spot. read more

If you have a reservation then you are in luck with a guaranteed parking spot right next to Main Lift. Just pull in and let the parking attendant know you have a reservation and they'll confirm. MMI is quite outdated for being quite expensive and right next to the Lift. Check in was at 4pm but we weren't able to get a room until 530pm which sucks b/c after a long day on the slopes you want to shower and relax. They did give us two free drink vouchers but neither of us really drinks. Not a bad place to stay if you don't care for the motel 6 vibes. read more

I read the negative reviews of this hotel only after I booked the room and was honestly quite nervous. Upon my stay, I found the hotel and room to be clean and comfortable. The hotel provides snacks, cereal, and milk in each room which was a nice way to start the morning. Also it's proximity to the mountain is hard to beat. I drove to the mountain one day and then walked from the hotel to a shuttle stop (2 min walk), which took me straight to the mountain. I have stayed in other hotels along the main road here which have been okay at best. The Mammoth Inn is great, especially for the price, and I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm planning a mammoth trip. read more

Stayed 1 night, January 2-3, 2016 Room #2 I booked this place off Airbnb. We paid $168 total with tax. We got a room with a king bed, we requested a roll away, bathroom had a spa Jacuzzi and a separate stand up shower. We checked in Saturday afternoon. We saw no staff the entire time we were there. Checking in consisted of us picking up an envelope with my name on it and the key was in it, with instructions to fill out a form, and leave key at counter when we check out. The room: pretty bare. Rack on the side had an extra blanket and some towels. We were definitely short towels, but we had brought our own, so that worked out. Also, a few of the outlets went out when I was blow drying my hair, which meant the TV didn't work, and the heater had to be moved to another outlet. I tried calling the number listed for here, but got transferred to Malibu Motel. I told the lady about the outlets, and she said she'd get in contact with the owner and call back. She called back an hour later, and she said the owner wasn't going to be back till almost midnight, and that we could switch to room #4. Well we were too lazy to switch so we just dealt with it and worked around the nonworking outlets. We utilized the Jacuzzi, it fit 3 of us! After we filled the tub though, and we hopped in the shower afterwards, there was no more hot water, so we all had to take cold showers. Breakfast: self serve. They had bagels & cream cheese, waffles, OJ, milk, and yogurt in the fridge. Oranges and bananas in the fruit basket, and condiments on the table. One thing they were missing was butter. I thought this place was really cute! I mean, we definitely encountered some problems, but it's livable. But the previous night we had camped in 12 degree weather, so this bed and breakfast was luxurious to us lol. Also, it's walking distance to The Loco Frijole, which we had dinner there. This inn makes it painfully obvious that they cut corners to minimize cost to operate their facility. Cleaning staff doesn't seem to care because it only seems they clean once you check out (our room was uncleaned in our entire 3 night stay). There is also no reception - just a sign at the front desk - if you can call it that. There's a number on Expedia to call if you need anything, but all they can do is answer your questions. If you need help, you'll probably have to wait - but I wouldn't know. Amenities were fine - except breakfast which is incredibly misleading. They give you $1 cereal cups - if they even put it out for your - or unlock the fridge for that matter. There was one day (Saturday) that we didn't even get breakfast because the fridge was still locked, and the cereal wasn't left out. I'm getting more upset writing this. I genuinely hate making bad reviews because i have experience in hospitality, but I'm so next level disappointed. Tonight was the last night on a road trip with my cousin and I. We stayed in random motels in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Those random dingy motels behind brothels were cleaner than this. We booked this thinking it would be perfect for our last night. FINALLY a night to relax. Think not. Imagine this as your point of view: After driving all day you pull up to your housing for the night. Your first impression is a dingy and relatively creepy neighborhood. You're a little confused because the "Inn" looks like a ill maintained house. You walk in to retrieve your keys and you're overcome by the scent of hamster cage. As you walk up the stairs the rodent scent becomes stronger, until you see a hole in the wall. The hole in the wall is where the rodent smell was the worst. You're relatively disappointed but the best is yet to come. You open your door, and a STRONG scent of body odor is permeating in our room. The pictures were COMPLETELY MISLEADING. Our room was like a college boys dorm. There was long pieces of someone's hair on the floor. There was mold on the wall. The shower was at the foot of the bed? No privacy? Our window didn't shut. What everyone said about thin walls is true. We thought this place would be clean, given that we're in a global pandemic. Please stay away from this hotel. There is a three week cancellation policy!!! The owner will fight you on this and dispute it with your credit card company to steal money for no services. I tried to cancel six days in advance because my work changed my plans. I called and explained to the owner that I work for emergency management and my schedule rapidly changes. He did not care and then fought my credit card company to keep the money. I have canceled at other hotels when there is an emergency somewhere else that I have to go to - and they all cancel without charging. The reviews are true, it really is pretty much a hostile with private bathrooms. Thank goodness they provided earplugs, otherwise there is no way I would've been able to sleep. My TV had a VCR, which I'm not sure if they were trying to be charming or just really cheap. If I actually had to choose between a hostel and this place, I would choose this place. Overpriced, dirty and poor communication. We booked this room in between camping trips and specifically chose it because it was listed as a 3 star hotel - we actually drove an hour out of our way because we wanted a comfortable, big bed and a few hotel amenities like ice. We paid $145 for this room and it was absolutely horrendous. Broken blinds, tarps taped over windows, no blankets on the bed (it was cold in the room and outside) and grungy linens in the bathroom - bathmat was stained brown. Some of the towels weren't even folded. There was no handicapped parking and our room was not ADA accessible. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

We are grateful to Sal the person in charge of Mammoth Inn, as we, me and my wife were stranded in this city after reserving a room at Cinnamon Bear Inn for three nights from Tuesday until Thursday. As we checked in last night at Cinnamon Bear Inn sometime 9:30 PM. Our experience was a total nightmare. In all my B&B experiences I haven't come across, of such a substandard facility. I wouldn't even have the the thought of having my pet spend the night. So you can imagine how filthy was the carpet and the drapes. It seemed this place has never been steamed cleaned or any sort of cleaning. We couldn't breath from the strong bad odor that has been seasoned for years probably from smoking inside the room. It was a pure torture. Anyways somehow we spent the night and this morning my wife located Mammoth Inn and we reserved for 2 nights. After reserving on Hopper, we called the number on the website, where Mr. Sal for Mammoth Inn responded to our call and understood our situation, without a pause he kindly offered us to come in right way defying the check in/out time with no extra cost. Glad that my wife found this place "Mammoth Inn" , is really a very pleasant place to stay. The floor is all wood and clean a vey comfy place to stay while vacationing. read more

First off, there's a $20 resort fee charged, yet this is no resort. As others have mentioned, it's more like a hostel in a residential neighborhood. There are no extra amenities to warrant this extra fee. In addition to this, the walls were extremely thin so you could hear neighboring rooms. The bathroom lock didn't work. They advertise a complementary continental breakfast; the confirmation email said that food items have been modified to fit health department guidelines, but there was no breakfast provided, and I checked the kitchen several times during the breakfast time frame. There was a half used roll of toilet paper in the bathroom - can't imagine how they could sanitize that during covid precautions. No staff is present if you need anything. House keeping knocked on my door 30 minutes before the checkout time, and they seemed annoyed that I was still there. Will definitely not be coming back. read more

The other reviews of this establishment seem overly critical. The room was clean, and the floors were made out of bamboo. There was no air conditioner but opening the windows solved the problem. Yes, some of the decor is slightly on the tacky side, but it is highly functional, and clean. The bathroom was huge and even had two sinks, plus a shower and a Jacuzzi tub. What more can you ask for? Breakfast was minimalist and help yourself style, but seemed perfectly reasonable. They had a couple of types of cereal, instant oatmeal, milk, orange juice, bread for making toast, butter, jam, bagels, and some fruit. I had no problems staying here and would stay here again in the future. read more

I am surprised at all the bad reviews, as I thought this was a really nice little inn. We booked our room through Airbnb a couple days in advance. It was only 100 bucks for the night, which isn't bad for a last minute booking around the corner from the mountain. We showed up late, around midnight, and they had left the room keys and a short check in form on the desk for us to fill out. It was nice to have such an easy check in after such a long drive. The room was perfect for what we needed. It had a king bed and a futon bed. Both were very clean and comfortable. The shower/ bathroom was also very clean and had a surplus of toiletries and towels for our use. Overall, I highly recommend this place for accommodations in Mammoth. At the same price as the motel 6, it blows it out of the water. I definitely plan on staying here my next time in town, except next time I will try to book directly with them to save a little. read more

I've stayed here last season and found it fine (it is a bit minimalist as others noted, but most of the time I'm out on the slopes, in the Village or Old Town Mammoth so I don't need much in the way of amenities and they got a decent & well stocked breakfast setup too.) However, this time around when I reserved, I got a call one week before my arrival that they've overbooked & cancelled my reservation, with a not so helpful "check airbnb" for alternate lodging arrangements. Super surprised that the ratings on yelp are so low! We booked this place through Airbnb and had a completely wonderful stay :). We stayed in late April for 1 night. Our room had a king bed which was minimally furnished but the bathroom was absolutely fantastic. There was a jacuzzi tub and separate shower as well. I had no problems with our rooms. Although since we stayed during the off season there weren't as many people - but I don't think the rooms are very sound proof. From downstairs I could hear walking / talking from upstairs. I could see how it would be frustrating if you lived in the room next to the communal kitchen. Oh and yes the do provide breakfast. The fridge is fully stocked with milk, orange juice, waffles, yogurt, cereal, coffee and tea. Super easy and convenient!. Check in was easy as well. Chris just texted us that the keys would be available inside for pickup whenever we were ready. It was really easy to find the place with the giant red M outside of the house. Overall loved the place here, if I were ever in Mammoth again I would definitely stay here! read more

Stayed here over a weekend in early December from Saturday to Sunday. We arrived at 3pm and there was Noone at the front desk. That was alright as our keys were in little envelopes on the desk with our names on it. We went up to this bare minimum room that was freezing cold and had a tiny radiator. I left it on for 4 hours at the highest setting and it had no effect whatsover. This is the problem. I went down to the front desk, still Noone there. There were a few numbers for the "hotel managers" to call. I called all three numbers for the next three hours to request another heater. Nobody picked up, left a voice mail for the main manager, kasey, and didn't hear back. Terrible night. Next day, still no staff around, no responses to the voicemails. If you're looking for a spot to stay with absolutely no service, and gamble that you get a room which doesn't give you hypothermia, this is the place to go. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I booked my room for December in September. I received a call in October asking if I cancelled. I told them that I had not canceled. They assured me they would fix the issue and I would have a room. 1 week before my reservation I get a call saying they have no room for me, that there was a computer glitch. They offered me a refund of less than what I had or Ingalls paid. Then they also offered me to move my reservation to another time and they would give me 2 free nights. I said that none of the above was acceptable. Good thing I booked through priceline who is in the process of finding me a new hotel, and they will pay to the difference if necessary. As far as the hotel accommodations go, I wouldn't be able to tell you, nor will I ever. The only way I would consider staying here is if it was free. But then again there would be no grunted that I would even have a room. read more

Mammoth's hidden treasure. My wife and I pulled in to mammoth after a long drive up from Santa Monica. We were a bit wiped out after the drive and were ready to relax. From the moment we walked in the door we felt at home. The lobby was truly out of a sleepy ski town movie. Comfortable couches, large fire place and snow piled high out the window. The room was standard until we walked into the bath room. Jacuzzi tub, large shower, and two sinks. Needles to say, my wife was happy. Once we settled in, my wife and I heading down stairs to figure out our plans for the night. In the lobby we noticed a dark haired man with a rather large mustache, enjoying the couch by the fire place. (My wife and I later agreed at dinner it was one of the better mustaches we have ever seen.) He turned out to be the inn keeper. He was well spoken, nice, informative and even remembered our names for the remainder of our trip. My wife and I were very happy with our over all experience at the M inn and will be returning customers. read more

Ever seen the movie Hostel? Well this is just like that. Old, unkept, run down, creepy looking. Room was bare. Beds were basically thin mattresses on a pallet an inch off the floor. No one was there at check in. No direction on where to park ( no spaces were open). Tried contacting person we booked with, no response. We were extremely unhappy and have attempted since to contact the owner now multiple times, and still no response. Do not book this place unless you like feeling gross. Terrible vibe. We left, there was no way I could sleep in this dark and depressing place. They kept our money, no offer to make this right. It's unfortunate there are people who take advantage of travelers this way, knowing that you are coming from out of town and once you arrive there's no getting out of the reservation even if the room they provide you is disgusting. read more
