I come to the hoxton often for their speakeasy in the basement. Recently I've been coming to the restaurant area to work. It's spacious, well lit, and not too loud in the day time. Five star service. The food is really good. My favorite is the rice bowl. The flavors work so well together and the perfect portion for lunch. The burger and fries are also very good. This place has moved its way up to one of my favorite lunch spots. There is street parking available, but sometimes it's hard to find. But there is also valet. read more

I went to Cira for a dinner before a formal event I attended, and it started the night off fabulously! We ordered the warm kataifi wrapped feta and a few other dishes, but the feta dish really stood out. The drinks on the menu were also super fun and unique as they were created by Cira's bar team. I ordered a decaf latte (too bitter for me) and the French toast. They use a good bread for the French toast. I don't like super sweet foods so this was on assignment. What makes it sweet is if you have the orange marmalade and whipped cream. I would've went more for a blueberry compote myself. For extra sweetness add the maple syrup, which is good syrup. Cira totally lived up to the expectations in terms of food. I came here for restaurant week and was absolutely spoiled! Notable items: -Mezze platter, especially the sunchokes! -Swordfish meatballs - so unique but perfectly cooked and paired with the sauces -Chocolate cremeux with banana turmeric ice cream - this was the best dessert I have ever had period! It had chocolate cream, banana turmeric ice cream, cookie crumbs, peanut butter, and jam. The layers just kept appearing and every bite tasted like a whole new dessert. Can not recommend enough. I went to Cira for lunch, and the best thing about Cira is their small plate options. For appetizers, I had the brown butter hummus, I was a little skeptical about the pumpkin seeds at first but the hummus turned out amazing. The pita bread was warm as well, I highly recommend getting the hummus, huge fan. The moroccan tuna tartare, I wasn't really crazy about it. I didn't like the grainy taste of the crackers. First, this is the cutest daytime lounge/restaurant I have been to in a while! The vibe and energy lifted my mood as soon as I walked in. All of the staff seemed to be in great spirits and acknowledged my presence kindly! I came by myself and still felt very welcomed the entire time. I had the Challah French Toast, Maple-Sage Sausage, and Crispy potatoes which were very yummy. The portions were great, I had enough to fill me up and take home as well. I randomly went here because I was so hungry and this place was conveniently in a corner by me. It's all street parking around fyi. Well I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. It's part of a hotel lobby. It's soo big and beautiful inside! The hostesses were so nice from the get-go. We were seated so quickly even though it was so busy. Cira is a great brunch spot/ cafe in west loop! Even on weekend mornings, with the large space, you can walk in. Everyone is kind and the space is beautiful. I personally think the service and the atmosphere is 5/5 while the food is more like 4/5. I recently tried the banana bread and it became one of my favorite things in their menu. I also like their classic breakfast and avocado toast. However there are some items in the menu like the crudités that comes in very small portions for the price. Also the pastry menu changes frequently so what you like might not be there the next time you go - even though banana bread seems like a staple. i also did not particularly enjoy the dinner. I have gotten their pasta in the past (if I recall it was something like pistachio ravioli) and I remember the flavor was a bit bland - but still a lovely spot and great service. So overall, I'd recommend this place, but stick with some go-to reliable menu items. read more

Although I've had Mediterranean food so many time, this is my first time having Turkish food. Honestly, I can't really tell how different Turkish food is, but food here was amazing. And hey, taste is all that matters! Between my friend and me, we shared Grilled Moscardini Octopus, Oyster Mushroom, Spinach Anchovy Toast, and Lamb Tagine ("Mixed Grill of Lamb"). There was plenty food to share and everything was so delicious. The toast was to die for - the sesame on the outside made the texture super crunchy. Mixed Grill of Lamb was one of the best lamb dishes I've ever had. The pita bread that came with it was fluffy and soft. If there's one thing my friend and I love, it's small plates and Mediterranean food. So we had to check out Cira while she was visiting. The service was amazing. She gave us reccomend actions and answered all our little questions. But somehow the food was even better. We got some dips of course. And then the squash and panzanella salad. And wow. What a fun take on those dishes. I'm gonna have to try to recreate the Caesar salad squash at home! I will say the drinks were only okay. I had a different impression looking at the pics but walking in, there was a DJ playing music and a large spacious space with couches, tables and bar space. People were dancing at one end and others were dining at the other end. We made reservations and got seated immediately. Got a the Como La flor which was very well balanced and tasted quite good. For apps, we got the prosciutto bread and another bread with a yoghurt dip. Both were good, the prosciutto bread had a slightly sweet taste to it. I visited Cira for the first time today with my family, who was visiting me from out of town, and we've been doing a tour of highly rated restaurants in Chicago. This was by far our least favorite. We arrived with high expectations based on the positive reviews. The ambiance was impressive; the main dining room felt grand and welcoming. There's also a DJ playing in the main area, which initially added a fun vibe. However, heavy house music at 11 a.m. became a bit overwhelming and tiring. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn with the service. We waited an hour for our food, with little communication from our server. When we asked our server about it, they didn't seem to care much and said the kitchen was taking a long time, but we noticed larger groups who arrived after us were served much sooner. Ironically, those same groups later requested the manager due to issues with their own orders. When our food arrived, it was underwhelming. We ordered the French toast, falafel platter, and short rib hash. The French toast was very mid and served with noticeably cheap syrup; using quality maple syrup makes a big difference. The short rib hash was lukewarm, and the potatoes missed the mark on crispiness. Im guessing this dish was made long before the others. Finally the falafel platter was a bit confusing - it was served in a bowl and came with falafel, rice, garlic sauce, and carrot salad. It was fine, very underwhelming if you've had quality Mediterranean food and the different elements of the dish didn't pair as well as I had hoped. It was also missing add ons we requested from when we ordered. During our meal we spoke with our server about our experience and was met with apathy. She said she would tell the manager in a surprisingly unconcerned and dismissive tone and took our check. The manager never stopped by which is odd after receiving a negative review and we waited 20 minutes to get our check back... After finishing my meal and writing this entire review, we've been waiting for the server to stop by and give us our check back. I enjoyed the drinks and liked the energy of the place, but this is the first time servers have been outwardly rude to me and the food missed the mark as well. Cira is a perfect fusion of modern twists on Mediterranean flavors. The service is outstanding and the seating options are vast. Dogs are welcome, which is why this is one of my favorite places to invite friends for a bite to eat. While it isn't the cheapest meal, it is similarly priced to other local spots in the area. I always drink at the Hoxton but never dined at Cira. I was lost but now I'm found. Delicious! Tried the Feast of Cira... we were forewarned it was a lot of food. The amount of food and tastings was amazing! Our server Bruce was great. We started with the Mezze platter where you get all of the spreads on the menu. My favorite was the Muhammara spread that contained dates, nuts and red pepper. Amazing. Then you move on to a few shared plates. The burrata toast with mushrooms was a nice bite. We did not have a reservation, but were still able to get a table for 5 within 10 minutes on a Sunday morning. As we were seated, we had one of those odd-but-not-uncommon experiences where we aren't exactly sure who our waiter/waitress was...the first person came up to us and had to make sure our menus were correct because apparently they're revamping their menu...so if they were doing so then why would some menus be the incorrect one? Didn't make sense. She took our orders and left. Our coffees and teas were delivered by someone else - and this was especially weird because there were 3 vanilla lattes for the table and he brought us out 2 cups of vanilla syrup saying "Here's some vanilla syrup, we didn't mix it in to make it easier on ourselves" ...? This was a bit off-putting because I don't want to pay $6 for a latte that I have to finish making. Our drinks were refilled by someone else. Our meals were brought out by someone else. And finally our check was brought to us by someone else. It was odd. The food was average. Challah French Toast was probably the best, but they forgot the syrup so we weren't sure if the syrup was mixed in with the orange marmalade and tahini whip (it was not so had to ask, they just forgot to bring it out - honest mistake). The Smoked Salmon Toast wasn't bad either, but just so overpowered by the lemon aioli. The salmon itself didn't really taste that smoked either. The Falafel Burger was pretty good too, but tasted exactly as described in the menu - nothing special. Overnight Oats were watered down. Potatoes were actually pretty good, but some of the pieces were just way too over-seasoned. I had asked if I could substitute out the sausage for salmon in the Loukaniko Sausage Benedict and she said no and when I asked why she did not have an answer for me..it was all odd. I wanted to love Cira so badly, but both my partner and I decided that we much prefer Aba, Ema, or one of the other Mediterranean restaurants in the area. We felt extremely rushed throughout our meal. It was the busy Saturday before Valentine's Day so I understand to a certain extent, but when we tried to order a starter while still looking at the menu our waitress told us we had to order all at once. We were constantly reminded of the 1h45m time limit on our table and we're asked what drinks we wanted and if we knew what we wanted to order almost immediately once we sat down. The food is delicious though I will say! The hummus was fresh, the pita was some of the best I've had, and the spinach had just enough kick to be super flavorful. I highly recommend ordering these. The chicken was mediocre and too smokey for my liking. Last bit, but halfway through our meal the music turned to some hip hop (sweet) but it was SO loud I felt like we were yelling at each other to have a conversation. read more

The service here was awesome - it was our friends birthday so they brought out complimentary Prosecco for all of us, plus our waitress was all-around awesome and very accommodating in regards to my severe nut allergy. My official dip ranking (excluding muhammara as I wasn't able to eat that) is: 1. brown butter hummus 2. beet tehina (tbh it was hard to pick between 1 and 2 and i consider both a must order) 3. whipped feta 4. sunflower green garlic (the only one that was kinda meh to me) Falafel was awesome, definitely order. Came here late on a Saturday for Restaurant Week and the lobby was packed by the bar, making the entire place noisy and requiring loud voices for our dinner conversation to be heard above the din. With a reservation, we were seated immediately. Between the two of us, we ordered (my favorites starred): First course brown butter hummus and shrimp skordalia* Main course Lamb shoulder roulade and skatewing* Dessert carrot cake and chocolate cremeux* The hummus was solid, and reading other reviews, a popular staple and much recommended item off their regular menu. I did enjoy it, and it was a fresh take with the added sprinkled brown butter crunch, pumpkin relish, and pickled radish slices. The pita bread was still warm and soft, although the ratio of hummus to pita bread was too great. This was my first intro to skordalia and I really enjoyed it. The garlic potato paste complemented the shrimp well, although the plating/presentation choices caused the dish to cool faster than we ate it. The skatewing was tender, and breaded with a good exterior crunch. The lamb portion was modest, the meat tender, and served atop a bed of dill rice and plenty of parsley and other fresh herbs. The carrot cake dessert was decorated with dollops of cream cheese, and was a bit too salty for my taste. My friend and I went to Cira this past weekend for brunch. First things first, definitely make a reservation! It was pretty darn packed when we popped in so you'll want to be all set when you walk in the door. This is a very pretty restaurant, good food, great service - it was just missing a bit of the personality feel for me. It felt very manufactured and big box style, our server must have been bogged with way too many tables as we'd sit for long periods of time just waiting...waiting...waiting. Now Cira is still fairly new so these may just be some growing pains that need to be worked through. We started with the Baklava Kouign Amann ($5). It was soft and delicate with a pretty sugar coating on top. We agreed this was good but not great and it's not an item we would get again. My friend had the full Turkish Breakfast ($16) and loved it. When the tray came out full of ingredients, it had that 'wow' factor with tables staring in awe! I had the Turkish Sausage Eggs ($16) benedict. I liked this just fine but ended up getting a side of extra meat to add a bit to it. It was a smaller eggs benedict dish than you may be used to, which is completely fine just something to be aware of. Again a dish I liked, but wouldn't get again because I didn't find it amazing, just middle of the road good. Great & lively atmosphere! Dined here this Friday and it was fairly busy when we arrived. We made reservations prior so we seated promptly. We shared 6 dishes between the 2 of us including the hummus, smoked mackerel taramasala, manti, pistachio ravioli, roasted blowfish tails, and octopus salad.
