The Navy Yard CIRCA location is nice. I was able to dine outside on a pretty hot Saturday afternoon. There was a perfect breeze and you really feel in the middle of the city. All of the staff was friendly and hospitable. The host was welcoming and she showed us to our table immediately (I did have a reservation). She explained all of their covid operation rules really quickly. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. Even though this is in DC, there is a parking lot about a block away across from the Nats stadium and I think I only paid about $2 for parking. read more

My husband and i had lunch here on a Tuesday. We arrived at about noon, and there was almost no one here. We sat by a window where it was perfect to people watch. I had the steak salad, which was good. Maybe not $24 good, but that could be me being a lover of ranch. We had the calamari as an appetizer, and i really enjoyed this. The only thing is that if you want your calamari to stay crunchy, ask for the sauce on the side. Otherwise, they will layer the sauce on the bottom and place the calamari on the top. My hubby had the steak frites, and he also said it was ok. He ended up adding more salt. Again, probably personal preference. The service was 100 though! read more

5 of us went to CIRCA. The menu is eclectic American. It's not really cohesive and more of a mix of different things. We thought that was good because there is such diverse selection. The place has a bar/bistro vibe. Fun place for drinks after work and some apps before heading home. I could see hitting this place up if I worked here. The star of the menu, that we saw, was the margarita flatbread. My coworker said it was fantastic (it looked it!) I had the "jambalaya". It should have been labeled "penne pasta in a jambalaya style". So picture the real deal but with penne instead of rice. Now that being said, I ate it and I would eat it again! I decided to come to Circa because their sister restaurant had an hour wait for a table and that was way too long for me to wait on a Monday! The bad: I didn't have a reservation for Circa. The host stand told me it would be 25 minutes. There were PLENTY OF EMPTY TABLES!!! anyway, maybe they were being saved for reservations. I sat at the bar to have drinks as I waited. I checked in at the 35 minute mark and was told I would still have to wait perhaps another 25 minutes (yup that's an hour for you folks keeping track of time) Again there were empty tables. At this point, I said forget the table, I'll just eat at the bar. Frankly the only reason I stayed was that the bartender was GREAT!!! and the company at the bar was fun! I can't remember her name but it began with an M. So if you do decide to go, either make a reservation or sit at the bar. It isn't worth it to show up, be told a short time only to have that time not met. About half way through the meal, a hostess came over to me and told me I could have a table. I actually laughed since I was already eating. The good: The bartender was excellent and really saved the night. Honestly I was ready to go at the 35 minute mark. She convinced me to just order at the bar and stay there. The company at the bar. There is a nice crowd at the bar and they were so friendly. They even offered to talk to higher ups to get me a table!!! Those guys were great!!! The food: I had the Steak Frites. This is the second time I've had them here and they were excellent! The were cooked to the perfect temperature. I loved the chimichurri! it made the meal. The truffle fries were great too! The drinks were fantastic! Did I mention the excellent bartender!!! The brunch menu was pretty simple and I went with the American Bistro Breakfast and my friend went with the CIRCA burger. The food itself was good at best. I was disappointed by the crispy french toast. It was dry and definitely doesn't live up to it's potential. The customer service however was quite friendly. Overall great dinner experience on a Saturday night in the city! This place has indoor and outdoor seating available, be aware outside party limit size is 4 due to Covid. I was impressed by their contactless menu- pic attached. They have a pretty cool cocktail menu with drink options that varied from habanero spiced drinks to moonshine based to blackberry margaritas. Their Prosecco offering was very light and refreshing. We enjoyed their calamari- it featured a little bit of everything - little seafood bites and fried olives. I loved the fried kalamata olives. Wings are nice and juicy. Cons- don't really recommend the pasta primavera, it comes with no sauce. Nice veggies though. Highly recommend for a nice late night dinner in the district. read more

So I do understand why other people are giving this place lots of high review and praise, but at the same time I don't really agree. The quality of the food is good, the portions are nice, and the prices are reasonable. There are some great options available to you on the menu and an interesting selection of cocktails as well. But honestly, I could give that same praise to so many other places in the area as well. CIRCA is good, don't get me wrong but I really think it's just...average. Most of what they serve is good, yes, but it's also stuff that tends to be good anyway when done right. Like gourmet style burgers, calamari, pastas, etc. are all great dishes that will be amazing when done right. But the dishes themselves don't feel like they had any major bang or uniqueness to them. I feel like if I walked into another restaurant down the street I could find similar options and if done well they would turn out just as good as here at CIRCA. So is CIRCA worth your time and should you go? Of course! Should you expect this stellar experience and food that all the other reviews seem to make it out to be? I don't think so. Go and enjoy yourself, just...temper your expectations because I think all the 4 and 5's are hyping it a bit much. read more

Came to DC for a quick overnight Presidents Weekend & enjoyed dinner out at CIRCA. Made easy peasy reservations online & we were seated immediately. Was in town for police week and this was not far from our hotel. Everything here was so yummy!!! I have this pet peeve on fried food...You know how you can tell that some places reuse their oil or made just right. If that makes sense. Everything came out so good! The customer service from entering and the hostess when I called prior and got there and bartenders who were our serves since we sat at a high top by the bar.. were also great! Wish i caught all their names, to shout them out. If you were working on Thurs. 5/12 around 7PM, TY. We had a great experience. There was a wait about 45 mins but well worth the wait and I see why. I wish I took pictures of the food but we were also hungry. We did have the Tuna Tar Nachos, Jambalaya, flat bread, shrimp Salad, Brussel sprouts, 4 cheese Mac and cheese. I would have paid full price for it. I must say that each course was amazing. The portions were big and the ambiance was friendly and upscale but not too boujie. Got my poke nacho fix but had to endure a show of passive spiteful behavior from our absent server. I always chalk up my ambivalence to dine at Navy Yard because the mood is so sterile. My friends who live in the neighboring overpriced condos were surprised I didn't contest to CIRCA. I love my CIRCA @ Foggy Bottom!! I even hyped the place up. Upon entering the layout, music and overall ambiance matched Foggy location- good sign. We ordered- Poke nachos, Calamari and a turkey and chicken burger. Everyone loved their food. My poke nachos ($13) made a scrumptious light dinner! Basically house made chips coated with a light creamy Siracusa sauce and topped with sushi-grade tuna. Our server didn't come check on us throughout dinner we'll over an hour. My friend had to walk over to the hostess to request our check. Upon review we noticed half of our tables order wasn't included. annoyingly enough, my saint-like friend sent the check back -WOMP. Our MIA server magically appears with our correct check and he didn't even bother to deign an apology. Instead he slanders his coworkers (hostess who brought us the incorrect check) and spouts "I can't fix stupid". It was startling to those in earshot. Why cop an attitude after absconding all your responsibilities? UPDATE: went back and had a stellar experience. Gonna chalk this up to the typical bad apple. read more

I went here (for the first time) tonight with a client from out of town. The food was terrific. The staff was very friendly and the service was really good. I had their jambalaya over penne and it was delicious (and a bit spicy...but not in a bad way)! I'll go here again, and because it's about 100 yards from National's Park, I might go here for brunch with my family before a Sunday game. If you're from around here, you should go and bring out-of-town friends, family or business colleagues. It's perfectly located on a busy street corner, in the heart of the Navy Yard, where you can take a short walk or scooter from your hotel or work. For starters, the CIRCA craft cocktail menu is one to be rivaled. They offer drinks you be able to order everywhere. In honor of Prince & my strong desire for a little spice, I ordered the Purple Rain. I love that it's got Local & house-made ingredients. This gives the drink a freshness that other cocktails lack. The spiciness of the Honey Habanero mixed with the sweet & spicy Blueberry Habanero Shrub takes this drink into the next stratosphere. A great drink to start your happy hour with & to enjoy in the Summer. As for the food, all I can say is delicioso! I ordered the Brussels Blue, which had the perfect blend of applewood bacon, blue cheese, balsamic drizzle. The Brussels are cooked to perfection with a slight char on the edges adding a lil crunch. I also ordered the Shotgun Shrimp that had a great combo of sweet chili flavor & Asian slaw. For my entree I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. This dish was jam packed with chunks of lobster & Shrimp, which is rare but oh so appreciated. A lot of stuffed ravioli is overpowered by cheese & other ingredients to make up for the lack of meat but not this one. Soooooo good! I would give Circa 3.5 stars... It's conveniently located within walking distance from Nats stadium, but it's also priced that way. Honestly, I don't even remember what I ordered because the food wasn't that memorable (and it's about $30/plate). Service was a bit slow--maybe because of the Enchant DC event?-- even though the restaurant wasn't full. We made a reservation but showed up 30 min early to see if they could seat us early, they told us 5 min, and then seated us 30 min later. Drinks and service at the bar were good, however. We did have a dairy allergy at the table and the server wasn't super knowledgable about the ingredients in the dishes but was sweet and did go back to check with the kitchen. read more

It was nice that it was a block away from the park so it wasn't quite as busy as some of the other options down there. Between my family and I we had the veggie burger, turkey burger, and steak frites. They were all very good but I really enjoyed the turkey burger a lot and my wife wave raving about the sweet potato fries. Came to DC for the weekend. Saw the great reviews so we decided to go here. I called at 4:30PM asking if there's going to be a wait I was told not now. We stayed near by so our group came to get a table soon after I called. She was told at 5PM that they got a table for us but they just need to clean it. 5:20PM- I asked the hostess again. Guess what I got the exact same answer. Our table just needs to be cleaned. (Of course with a smirk on his face) 5:30PM- I asked another hostess: how long does it take to clean a table?? She said it depends on the waiter . We left. 20 minutes later they texted us saying our table is ready. I don't know how good the food is here but they're snobby and unattractive. From service to food, everything was wonderful. The waitstaff all had personality and were attentive without being on top of you. The pace of the meal was not rushed but food and drink came out quickly. The house drinks were very tasty and worth try. While all parts of our three course dinner were excellent, the two "stars" of the night were the calamari appetizer and the bread pudding desert. Although the steak frites & quinoa salad (with fried goat cheese & shrimp) were close behind. Having had calamari at so many quality restaurants (being from RI & living on the seacoast of NH) this appetizer ranked as one of the best. The rings melted in your mouth, and the addition of artichokes and kalamata olives were divine. The main courses were excellent and the chimichurri sauce with the perfectly cooked steak was a delicious combination. The warm bread pudding with its bourbon sauce and rich ice cream was a hit and we all devoured bites of it alternating with a solid quality piece of key lime pie. While we walked back to our room, we remarked still about the meal as well as our friendly & top quality waitress, and all the personable waitstaff, who exhibited grace and emotional intelligence that makes an owner proud. The management at CIRCA at Navy Yard is absolutely amazing. I was already a Circa fan, but last night we had a big order (ordered through Uber Eats, regrets). The UE driver canceled the order and said someone else had picked it up. I called Circa and they had our food - nobody else had picked it up. We had no way of getting it ourselves and thought we'd just reorder, wait, etc. The Circa GM offered to drop it off at our house on Cap Hill. He absolutely did not have to do that at all - went out of his way to do so - and now has us as customers for the rest of our lives! Excellent service that we were SO appreciative of. For the food - the $35 option is 100% the way to go. I love their cocktails and their wine selection is really great too! read more

I totally love the Navy Yard location. I always get the Streak and Frites with a Caesar salad! The food is always flavorful and juicy. The service is great too and the staff are always willing suggestions new dishes. The restaurant is clean and quiet. 10/10 One of my favorite restaurants. read more
