BLUF: No complaints about service, location, menu or ambiance but also no raves. Three stars because this is an average dining experience. I met a few ladies at CIRCA bistro's Navy Yard location. I arrived early and settled myself at the bar and perused the brunch menu. It looked like very over menu in this over saturated town. The only ingredient that piqued my interest were the micro cilantro. But honestly this is a mish mosh of DC's greatest hits done adequately enough to receive a "yes that's good" response when the rest of my party asks how something is. Poké Nachos, Mimosas, Benedict varieties - present, present, present. There's a bottomless option too but only on mimosas. The standout was a Bulgogi fried rice dish served with an egg on top and reminded me of the Nasi Goreng I over indulged in while on holiday in Bali last month. Our waiter was great and handled the 7 of us with no complaints or real issues. Overall, though, this restaurant is a noble place filler in the area around the stadium. If you'd like good eats, a place to meet with friends or enjoy a cocktail before a Nats game or after work this is a pretty good choice. read more

We had a delicious weekend dinner here on a recent visit. The kids were happy with their kids meal choices (penne with marinara and cheese flat bread) and my husband loved the short ribs. We made a reservation here and once we checked in we were seated almost immediately which was great. We were overlooked for around 15 minutes until the assistant general manager noticed us and got us started with drinks. I got the espresso martini which was very good and then started with a couple appetizers. We got the bruschetta (super good, perfect balance of sweet and savoury), lettuce wraps (a little hard to eat but amazing flavor), and tuna poke nachos (tuna tasted fresh and the chips were light textured). Next I got the mushroom flatbread. It was a pretty big flatbread and more than enough for one person. We finished the night with key lime pie and bread pudding. I wish my appetite was bigger. I was honestly surprised at how tasty and fresh the food was. Honestly, everything was good, the salmon was perfection and seasoned perfectly. My wings were saturated in flavor and fresh. The mac and cheese was some of the best Mac & cheese I've had from a restaurant. Usually food is flavored with salt but they actually used herbs and spices here. And that Bread pudding was SUPERB, it's house made I believe and totally worth it. I've been to 3 different Circa locations, and each of them have been consistently stellar. Tasty, flavorful food with just enough flare to be interesting without going overboard. Service in all three were also attentive and warm, giving their own recommendations, which I always appreciate. And lastly, ambiance for all three have been perfect for catching up with friends without too much noise - a warm, covered patio in the fall at Foggy Bottom, steps from Navy Yard for Easter brunch or outdoors enjoying Arlington's bustle. I've seen this spot so many times but just never had to chance to try it so I came for brunch on a Saturday with my bf and I was really impressed. The service was excellent, we had 2 waiters and the GM also took our drink and appetizer orders to get us started. I really enjoyed the food we had, we had the bulgogi lettuce wraps and shotgun shrimp. For the entree I had the American bistro breakfast and the French toast was amazing, it has a nice crust too with some nice spices. I would come back for a nice casual brunch on a weekend, the only thing is they do not have bottomless brunch but I did enjoy their Bellinis! read more

Within 15 minutes of walking from the baseball stadium, CIRCA offers menu options the stadium food stands cannot compare with. We stopped by CIRCA at the Navy Yard before a Washington Nationals game searching for food beyond burgers and hotdogs. Due to the time of day, we were able to enjoy their Brunch menu. Upon arrival, we were seated right away and the waitress was taking our drink order. A member of our party was Diabetic and wanted a mimosa with a juice other than Orange juice. With a smile and "Don't worry, we will make it happen" disposition, the waitress went to the bar and returned with an alternative option of Cranberry juice. Even after going out of her way to modify a beverage for the member of our party, the waitress continued the spectacular customer service by taking our orders promptly and helping us stick to a timeline to not miss the game. Came to try out Circa last week and the food was delicious and is great quality. This location is nicely spread out with a good size bar area, somewhat separated from the dining area. This location shares a bathroom with el Bebe. We ordered the bulgogi lettuce wraps which were absolutely delicious, friend chicken sandwich which had yummmy sweet potato fries. My husband ordered the jimbalaya and it was pretty good too, but not visually what we expected. Lastly, we ordered the trifle for dessert and it was the best thing on the menu - underneath the moose there is chocolate cake - we will be back. I definitely will come back to eat here and looking forward to trying some cocktails. read more

Beautiful place, nice staff. It was pretty busy but the wait for our food wasn't too long. The waitress' were very attentive. Prices were decent, the atmosphere had me thinking it was going to be more expensive. Food was ok. I had the spinach dip, I wish I knew the chips were going to be covered in obay seasoning, I wouldn't have ordered. The Mac n cheese was tooooooo creamy, and I was hoping it would be more cheesy. Came here for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend and had such a wonderful experience! The ambience was nice and our server was incredibly friendly as well. We loved the nachos and calamari as appetizers, and the pasta was yummy and well seasoned. The reason I took off one star is because my boyfriend was not a big fan of his dish and the sauce that was on it and thought it was too salty. The dinner ended well with the dessert! Came to this location on a Tuesday. Tuesday Street parking was easy. Even with the construction going on. They have happy hour from 4-7pm in the bar area only. They have both drink and food specials. My little brother took me to brunch here on a Saturday to show off where he works. I made a reservation, but we probably could have just walked in as it was busy, but not packed. The vibe was laid back, and the staff was attentive. I ordered the breakfest bowl special, and my brother ordered the American Bistro. We each enjoyed our food. The flavor and portion size were just the right. I also had two of their mimosas which were $6 each as they don't do the typical DC "bottomless" brunch. My family and I had a great Brunch here last weekend. We had reservations for 10:45, but showed up early and were promptly seated. Our server was attentive and friendly, and frankly some of the best service I've had in a while. She even offered me honey and lemon for my tea (the Circa in Clarendon did not do that last week, and just brought me water). I wish i could remember her name so that I could tell the manager how excellent she was. I ordered the bulgolgi lettuce wraps, which were great. And the All American Breakfast with french toast, eggs, hash browns and bacon. All delicious. Particularly the french toast, which was topped with cinnamon sugar. My mom's biscuit was delicious, and everyone was happy with their mimosas. The outdoor seating is lovely on a nice day, and there are heat lamps for cold evenings. The bathroom was super clean. My daughter said the wings and shrimp were very good. It made up for her chicken sandwich was dry. Anniversary night, didn't feel like cooking nor dining under current circumstances. I ordered bbq chicken flat bread, 3 orders of shrimp. Had a feeling I would need to, there wasn't a photo on the online menu and my family loves "scrimps". I also ordered 2 order of wings, 2 jambalaya pastas, the chicken, quinoa salad, and the Brussels sprouts. Hubby and son said jambalaya was ok. My quinoa salad was very different, some may think boring but I'm really working on improving my plate and I was satisfied with my health my choice. Tasted pretty good. The only negative thing and I do mean only was the hostess told us that all of the outside seating was booked up but I saw two different couples get seated inside and then they got seating outside after they requested it. That really annoyed me because we really wanted to sit outside. It was a bummer but we got over it. My wife and I found this spot and it's amazing. It was a nice vibe and our waiter(s) were great. Getting reservations in the city always seems to be hard, but at Circa it wasn't. Very easy and flexible staff! There was a decent amount of outdoor covered seating and lots of indoor seating. I really do wish they had fans outside on their patio as that would make it a million times better. The fried calamari with fried artichoke was phenomenal. The braised short rib meal was good but had way too much salt in it. I wish I was able to taste the natural flavors of the gravy, spinach, beef, and mashed potatoes instead all were individually loaded with a lot of salt. Was very disappointed after $15 Uber ride to here, they refused outside patio service on a beautiful day. I remember when restaurants were struggling and boy did I step up to plate with take out orders with 50% tips. Food felt reasonably priced, including $5 brunch mimosas, and overall was fairly good. The first two times there this week were great. Sat at the bar tables and food was good. Go in yesterday and get ready to sit at bar table and then told they are reserved. While the food and drinks were great, our waitress was unfortunately exceptionally rude. It was my 21st birthday, and when I ordered a drink for her, she looked at my ID as if I was underage and said "2000?" in a rude tone. Only once I told her it was my 21st birthday she reread my ID and took my order, didn't even tell me happy birthday. Only about 10 minutes after the food came, she slapped the check down on the table, rushing us out, and didn't even offer a dessert menu.
