I've been getting my haircut w Alex at Circle City Barbers for about a year now. He does a great job, takes his time and is very good w the clippers. Once you get to know him you can call in advanced and let him know you're en route. You'll never get a bad cut here. All the other Barbers seem to be highly experienced and overall pretty cool. There's no shortage of tattoos and edgy looks. They do a great fade and a hot foam straight blade clean-up on your neck area after each cut. The wait can be long on the weekend or before a holiday. First time customer, although I've know Philip (the owner) for a number of years now. Came in with COVID hair, it hadn't been cut since early March. Told Philip exactly what I wanted (which isn't easy because it's thin on top, wild on the sides, and crazy in back). Let me say, the man knows how to cut hair, he took his time, moved through the process with precision, and the result was everything I had asked for, it was even cheaper ($25.00 without tip) then where I was going before. Walked in Last thursday around 430pm, no one in the waiting area. Took a seat and waited for it to be my turn. Only one barber was open (first chair, on the right). Another customer walked in a few mins after me, calls him up before me even though I had already been waiting. Questioned the barber if the other guy he was seating before me had an appointment and he said no, but he was going to cut his hair first and someone else would be with me. Told him I had been waiting already, made no difference. Will never again set foot in this barbershop, friends of barbers get preferred treatment. Try Affiliated Barbershop down the street or Golden Touch barbershop, they stick to their Appointments or they serve you in the order you walked in. read more

I hate getting my hair cut. I hate those horrible cheap walk-in places and I can't stand going to a salon. Then I found Circle City. This is a barber shop strictly for guys and moreover one that caters more towards the kind of people that don't fit into traditional circles. Even the haircut itself was far from the type of haircut you might be used to getting at a salon - there was no daintiness and no little snip-snips here and there. However, that does not detract from the fact that the guys that work here are true artists. I can't believe I'm saying that about a haircut, but it's true. Be prepared as this is not KoolCuts; it will take a little while longer than what you might be used to, but it's done right and it's precise. On top of that, the three guys that work here are the type of guys you would want to hang out with at the bar or whatnot. They make the whole shop comfortable, inviting, and you can tell they don't just enjoy their work, but the people they get to socialize with as well. Even though they don't take cash, there is a Wells Fargo right around the corner. The cuts are $20 + whatever you want to tip them. On top of that this is the only place that I know of that sells a specific type of hair product called Axl Grease, which is the best water-soluble pomade product out there. It's super hard to find even online. All in all, this place is more than just a barber shop; it's a representation of what's still good with America. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

First time I came here I had got an awesomeeee haircut. So obviously I come back to get a second, big mistake. I could tell the guy cutting my hair just wanted to get the heck out of there, hastily going over my head with his buzzer as quickly as possible. I was in and out of there way before other people who had sat down before me. He combed it down before I left and so at first glance it looked OKAY, and whatever I left. When I got home I couldn't believe it. There were long strands ALL over the back and he totally fucked up my part, I don't think he spent any time cleaning up the top of my head at all. Just moved into town. Needed a new barber, and stopped in here because I had walked by a week before (after closing). Shop is large, with 7 seats. All cutters were present, either cutting or out getting food. As soon as a cutter opened up, I was seated. I don't know the barber's name, but he did a good, if slow, job. No complaints, either. They do shave the neck after cutting, which I had not experienced in ages, as my previous barber, now semi-retired, was not razor-skilled. It felt kind of old-fashioned to me, but I liked it. Wonder why all the barbers were cutting facing out, not the mirror, but I guess that's just the way they do it here. I missed the mirror contact with the barber, which is traditional in my experience around the country. I can't hold it against them, it's just their style. $25 cut is pretty standard by now. I tipped two bucks, which I think is OK. Hope he was OK with it. I'll try the same guy next time, ask him to make it shorter on top. He did do a great job on the back of my head which has pretty thick hair, and I did not detect thinning shears, which is the usual around here, and I liked that. He used mostly electric, when my previous barber was a shears man. I cannot argue with the results, however. Seating was prompt. I noticed that every new customer was seated as soon as a chair was open. I had waited only two minutes. My barber appeared to be very young, but his cutting was good for a first time cut. I've been going here to get cuts for over a year now and am still fuckin stoked on this place. No foofy bullshit, good music, good magazines, good conversations, and good haircuts. I've seen sleeved punk rock bikers in one chair and a dude in a suit in the next. Everyone is welcome it seems like, but if you're super goth or Emo you may want to just keep walking. Just walked out. Never had an experience like this before. There were only two barbers in the shop and me and one other guy were waiting in line. I was there for about 20 minutes or so and the other guy in line had been there even longer. Well they just decide screw it and went on lunch. The two Barbers left me and the other guy in the shop alone while they went on lunch. Like what the hell. It was just unprofessional and disrespectful to my time. Came in here today on the recommendation of my stylist. I have a 15 year old son and we have been search of a great barber. I have to say that Brady did a rad job on his hair! We were walk ins and we waited about 25 minutes as there were 4 barbers cutting hair and 2 guys in front of us. Brady is very detail oriented, and really took his time perfecting not only his client before us, but with my sons hair as well. He made sure his straight razor, combs and cutting shears were sanitized, and he listened to what we wanted. My son is happy, as am I. We will return to him. First let me just say that I am writting this from my wifes Facebook account. I had been researching barbershops for quite some time. I had been put off by V's Barbershop in Foothill Ranch, CA inspite of the fact that I had been going there for over a year. The guys at V's were rude and lazy. I found Circle City Barbers and had watched an interview with one of the owners on the web. I decided to give it a try. It seemed like the Barbers went in to the business by choice and with a passion for giving a good old fashioned haircut the way my grandfather had gotten one. I stopped in this Saturday and there was only one barber in the shop, and he was busy. I watched as he cut the other gentlemans hair and he was detailed with the cut and everyone walked out happy. One of the things I really liked was that Chris was very conversational with all of his clients. I was the last cut of the day, and I had been holding off on a cut and shave since Christmas so to say the least I was overdue. I told Chris that I wanted a shave and a haircut, and how I wanted my haircut. Now I must tell you in the past that when I had told prior barbers at other shops that I wanted a shave they seemed annoyed by me asking them to make more money. Chris on the other hand was excited to do it (even though I was the last cut of the day and I knew his young family was waiting for him to finish). Chris did an outstanding job on the cut and an even better job on the shave. He missed nothing and continued to speak with me while he worked. By the time I walked out of the shop I felt like a new man. This was the best haircut I ever received and the best experience I have ever had at a barbershop. Now I must tell you if you are not someone who is tattoed or look the part of someone who is into Harley's or punk rock music do not walk away from this shop. Neither am I. I received incredilble service, as did everyone who went before me. If you are looking for a barbershop that treats you right, and has you walk out looking like a million bucks I would Stop in at Circle City Barbers. I live in deep south orange county and I will gladly be making the drive back for a cut and a shave once a month for as long as these guys are there. I've been coming here for a long time, but won't come back after my experience today. The good: they cut great hair. No doubt about it. The bad: they will make you wait forever and they could care less. Literally 30 minutes to two hours. They won't give you the heads up its a long wait either. I left work early today to beat the Friday evening rush. Got there at 4:45 and was the only guy in line. There were four barbers. One finishes up and goes out for a smoke (instead of helping the next person), whatever. Then he comes back in with another guy and cuts his hair. Then another barber finishes, he ends up sweeping and chatting with the other barbers... Guess his shift was over. Now I'm 30 minutes into my wait and another barber finishes up. He grabs someone else in line and says " he was here earlier and I told him to come back". Dang dude, why didn't you give me the heads up I'd be waiting forever? Then another barber finishes and apparently a guy that came after me was a regular and walked up to his chair. Didn't even acknowledge that I was here 30 minutes before this guy. So after one hour of waiting I was still sitting there and all barbers just got a new person. None of them could care the slightest bit. Kind of a bummer, I liked these guys but there's no way I'm coming back. read more

My husband called at 2:30 pm, asked if they take appointments (which they do not) and was told they take their last walk-in by 6:30. We drove right over after work and walked in the shop at 6:12 only to be told that they would not be taking any more people because they were closing early. We explained that we called earlier and were told we needed to be there before 6:30 but their response was that the guy that my husband spoke to was gone. We told them we drove from Irvine based on the info given on the phone but neither barber in the shop seemed to care and didn't even make eye contact and just mumbled "sorry". Maybe you aren't hurting for business Circle City Barbers because you just lost a good potential customer. Your customer service truly needs improvement. read more

I have to update here. I've stopped going to Circle City about 6 months ago. I got to the shop one night mid-week at about 6:05. They close at 7. The guy that cut my hair looked like he was on his way out the door, but threw his coat back on and proceeded to cut my hair at a frantic pace. Normally, a cut here is about 30-40 minutes. I think he was done with me in abou15-20 tops. Normally I wouldn't care that much, but when I got home I had to have my wife fix stuff he missed. Strike one. Another time after coming in on a Saturday morning about 10:30, I was already 5th in line to get a cut. There was one barber in the house and he spent the first 10 minutes I was there running across the street to get ice from the liquor store to put on some fish in the backroom. Then he started in on the first guy in line. I waited for close to two hours until I realized that no other barber was going to come in. It's a goddamn Saturday, one barber? Really? They do cut some mean hair, but the shop is just unprofessional and as a business owner myself, I just can't condone that. read more
