How long does it take to make chicken tenders? This is what we found ourselves wondering during our visit to Circle Diner. Everyone has certain expectations when they go to a diner, and those are probably not going to be met to the fullest at Circle. I've been to Circle several times in the past few years, and I've never really left happy. I've learned that the food isn't the greatest, but the milkshakes are up to par. Last night I went there specifically for a milkshake. They were good; however, the waitress brought us two hot glasses to pour them into. This melted them and made them less than what I was hoping for. The thing was $5 so I kind of feel like it could have at least been cold. The biggest disappointment of the night was when we tried to order food from the kids menu. We weren't there for a meal, and wanted an appetizer of chicken tenders to share. We noticed that the kid's portion came with fries, so that's what we asked for. The waitress dashed our dreams and told us we weren't allowed to order from the kid's menu. Actually what she really said was, "Sorry, I'm not allowed to serve the kid's menu to people under 12." We're assuming by her tone that she meant the opposite. However, I don't know how she was so sure of our ages. She didn't card us. We gave in and ordered the appetizer chicken tenders. They took a while to come, and when they did we were not impressed. McDonald's is better, faster, and you don't even have to get out of your car. The fries were ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. Another minor problem is the fact that there is bad service at Circle. 3G was the best I could get. God forbid you want to tweet about your experience. Overall Circle is a place you can't go to with any kind of expectations. It's the kind of place you go to when someone else really wants to, and you aren't in the mood to argue about it. read more

Just had lunch there and will not go back. My friend had a salad that consisted "mostly" of wilted lettuce and spinach, terrible! My Greek veg sandwich was dry and tasteless and the cole slaw taste like it came from a bucket, definitely not homemade. The waitress was very nice and gave us good service, the food however, forget it. read more

As a diner-lover, I could not wait to try this place out. I was so incredibly disappointed by the food and service. The service was quick to seat you, but the second it is time to order, or better yet get your check, it's like you're invisible or your server is no where to be found. The food is nothing special either. I've had both their breakfast and lunch. The eggs tend to get cooked for than asked and if your order gets complicated-forget it. They don't write it down. Food is always tasty when I go to the Circle. I like how clean and new it is compared to other area diners. My favorite is the French Onion Soup. They have perfected it. Just like any other diner, there is something for everyone. read more

Used to come to this diner religiously ..always loved the matzoh ball soup. Got it last night and it was luke warm, tasted like it had multiple lemons in it and had a 2inch hair floating in the broth (not mine or my husbands). The bacon on my BLT was extremely dry and seemed like it was cooked the day before and left out. I get that restaurants do what they need to do to save money or products or whatever, but customers who dine at any time of day should get the same quality of food. The Circle Diner is an above average diner in Fairfield, very close to the Bridgeport border. If you are driving along I-95, it is an easy to stop for some good grub. The breakfasts are great, sandwiches are good and I am sure dinner time is good as well. We had breakfast here today and the diner was chaotic. We waited 10 minutes for a waiter and we waited another 30 minutes for our food to come out. In addition, the food was cold and not good. I have spent the morning exploring the Connecticut coast line and then looked for a place for lunch. I stopped at this "diner" thinking that I would have another breakfast. After reviewing the menu I thought that I would have panini, or a regular sandwich, but after turning the pages, I decided on the broiled scallops. It came with soup or salad, so I got the French onion soup. It was one of the best onion soups which I have ever had. Great service and great meal. read more

Decided to give this diner a try as it's pretty close to my home. It's seems like it's either apart or affiliated with a nearby hotel. The place is pretty big and has many tables. Food and service is ok, nothing special. For locals, If I were to compare, it's better than Duches but not as good as Chip's family restaurant. read more

Average diner fare here. Nothing too spectacular. Chili fries are delicious and have a nice kick to them. Service here is alright. 15 minutes to get my soda or a coffee refill? No thanks. Clean, bright and friendly however the food left something to be desired. Take a bite of a sandwich on the special menu and your left thinking to yourself...its bland...should I add honey mustard? Bright and clean with classic diner aesthetics. Greek salad was mediocre: the lettuce looked old and like they'd scraped the bottom of the tub (tiny, hard-to-stab pieces). WARNING!!! Never again in my life will i return. And i hope you don't you either! My family and i came here for a late breakfast. No one was in here. But our food took over 30 minutes. We all ordered pancakes and they came out hard as a rock. The waitress told us she wasn't a pancake expert or the cook she just takes orders when we made a complaint to remake them. My scrambled eggs had egg shells all in them and the turkey bacon was burnt to a crisp it looked like beef jerky. They made my mom and grandmothers pancakes twice and didn't come out any better. We heard them arguing from our table all the way in the kitchen. The waitress could care less. When we went to pay my mom made a complaint to the manager to tell her how terrible our experience was and she could care less too. Wasn't even concerned at why our meal was soooo bad!!! We weren't even charged for one of the meals and the eggs and bacon and two pancakes with orange juice came up to $31. Waste of money. No compensation. No apology. This is a typical diner with an extensive menu and moderate prices. The food is very good and the staff is eager to please. Unlike other diners, they have a variety of tables to allow for singles, couples and any size group -- they even have a small separate dining area that is closed off for the rest of the restaurant. We usually have a group of 5 to 7 and like a large round table to facilitate talking with one another. You won't be rushed and hot coffee always flows ... long after the meal is over. read more

Ok. Their coffee is un-drinkable. Their ice tea is the fake concentrate kind out of a gun. They do offer real maple syrup, which we told the owner to make available and he listened to us so. thank you. The food comes out fast and is good, not great. The waitstaff seems hurried and does not engage in their patrons but they seem attentive. The place is clean but not very stylish. Lots of garish chrome and mint Julep walls, fluorescent lighting which does make your meal or you look good. I wish I could redecorate this place like an old New England roadhouse. Yummy diner! One of the best chicken souvlaki I have had. Service when I was there recently could have been a bit better as our glasses were dry and we never saw our waitress after our food was delivered. I blame that on being 11 AM on a weekday....they were taking a breath before lunch. Just the same they would have gotten 5 stars if the wait staff got off their phones.
