4 stars for the convenient location and cleanliness- Maybe I caught this store on a good day. Maybe stars were aligned. Maybe I'm just used to gas stations on the sketchy south side of St. Pete. Whatever the case, my experience albeit quick, was pretty good. Yes, it was busy but it was the middle of the day, gas prices are good, and its a GAS STATION! If there weren't people I'd be suspicious. The restroom was super clean and the clerk was neither rude or overly friendly. The location is not the best or worst part of town and the entrance off of 5th Ave N can be troublesome.

Another lunch suggestion from my Wing Man Gary (Why do I call him my Wing Man? Gary is USAF…read moreretired). We've both heard good things about Culver's burgers, so we had to try them. Plenty of handicap parking right outside the door. As soon as we entered we were greeted and told to sit anywhere. Culver's is a cut above your regular fast food restaurant. Yes, you order at the counter, but they give you a numbered marker and deliver the food to your table. FAST. I ordered the Make Your Own Butter Burger. Double patty, onions, pickles, lettuce, mustard, bacon ($1.50), mushrooms ($1.50), and Swiss cheese. It's the same as the mushroom burger with bacon added, but if you add it all up, it's slightly less expensive to build your own. Add medium fries and a medium soft drink, total was $15.50. The burger was tasty, above and beyond what you would get at a nationwide fast food place. You know you have a packed burger when The toasted bun can't contain all the ingredients. The fries were perfect: nicely browned, crisp, and lightly salted. Pretty good meal for the price.

Our server, Briana (with the most beautiful blue hair) was the best! Really glad we decided to pop over for a quick bite. Super yummy! The dining area was spacious and kind of reminded me of like a McDonalds or Wendy's of the 90s minus the ball pit. It was great, overall, for what it is, this is a good bite!

Alright y'all, here we go with another episode of Just How Food Goes!…read more This stop brought me to Black Cattle Burger Co. at 17 3rd St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, and I was excited to see what all the hype was about. The staff was incredibly welcoming from the moment I walked in. Since it was my first visit, they took the time to explain the menu and recommend some of their favorites. After hearing about it, I decided to try The Black Pearl burger with a side of fries. The Black Pearl is perfect if you enjoy mushrooms on your burger. Every bite was juicy, flavorful, and satisfying without being overly heavy. The combination of flavors worked really well together, and I can definitely see why it's one of their signature burgers. The fries were thick, hot, and paired nicely with the meal. The restaurant itself was clean, had a great atmosphere, and made for a fun late-night stop. While I really enjoyed my meal, it didn't quite reach that unforgettable level that earns a 9 or 10 from me. It was a solid burger, great customer service, and an enjoyable experience overall. Overall Rating: 7/10. Would I come back? Absolutely. There's still plenty on the menu I'd like to try, and I always believe every restaurant deserves more than one visit. That's Just How Life Goes... and of course, Just How Food Goes.

Many years ago, when we lived in Atlanta Georgia my family had an absolute favourite spot to dine…read more That place was called Po Folks. It had family style meals on long tables that felt like you joined multiple families at a big feast. We were giant fans of their fried chicken and their hush puppies. Unfortunately, like so many restaurants Po Folks closed their doors forever and our favourite dining place became only a memory. That was until we visited my sister in Saint Petersburg, Florida. While looking for a local restaurant, lo and behold, we found a Po folks! Upon further investigation we found that there are five Po Folks restaurants still in existence and except for the Saint Petersburg location all are in northern Florida. With our expectations off the chart, understanding that memories are often better than the actual events, we visited the Saint Petersburg's Po Folks Restaurant. Although the decor was somewhat different (not as large and the old white and blue chequered design is now red and white), we're happy to report that the food was just as good. The Service: Our server was delightful and happy to hear about our previous experience. She made sure our new experience was just as delightful with our glasses always full and our every request fulfilled in a timely manner. The ambiance.: Po folks is set up to feel like a family dining picnic. Designed to feel like a family dining picnic, it's feel is quite a change from the typical Metro Restaurant experience. The design matches the type of 'cookin' and friendly service to a tee. The food: How we initially found the Saint Petersburg Po Folks came about by a challenge we have faced since our move to Florida and that is finding a well-made whole catfish. In Texas there were many restaurants that offered whole (not filets) catfish to choose from. Not in Florida where we have not found a single restaurant that offers whole catfish. But lo and behold, Po Folks came up when we made our "whole catfish" search. Although not quite as large a catfish as what we are used to in Texas, the catfish was delightfully moist and flaky and easily came off the bone. The fried chicken and fried okra were just as fantastic as we remembered and the hush puppies were moist and a bit sweet, just as we love them. We also tried their lemonade which was well balanced (not too tart or too sweet.). We're sad that there is no Po Folks down in the south Florida area but as my sister said "we'll now be seeing a lot more of you, just be sure to stop in and visit with us along with your visit to Po folks."
