I went for lunch with my parents and an infant in a car seat. The owners were very accommodating in setting up the table with two chairs for me to put the car seat on and quickly getting the check when I sensed the infant was about to wake up. Let me start with the drinks. A solid wine list and Germany beer on tap. Not just any German beer but Dunkel Weiss and Hefe on tap. Immediately I knew I was going to like this place. If you never had Dunkel Weiss you are missing out. The food was fantastic. They provide bread for the table which is almost like a biscuit. It was warm and fresh. One of the dishes we order was nut encrusted cod with rice and veggies. The fish was cooked to perfection, the crust was tasty and the veggies were seasoned with a great pepper sauce. Their menu has a slight Thai influence. I cannot wait to come back and sample more of their menu... and get a German beer! read more

This is the third time I've been to Circles Bistro and I'm finally going to give it a poor review because of the insulting "service" we received tonight. My husband and I went in and sat at the bar to order a glass of wine before dinner. The owner immediately came over and, without saying hello, told us we had to leave the bar because a group was about to sit there. He ushered us away and offered no explanation or alternative for seating, although there were plenty of tables to offer. He watched us leave the restaurant and said nothing. We are locals but, at this place, I have always felt like a complete foreigner, never welcomed. The owner has never given us good service and always seems to favor and cater to regulars. We once waited at the front door (there for a special occasion) for about 10 minutes, with staff busy but noticing us, and never saying "I'll be right with you." Thought this could become a regular place for us since it's a block from home, but unfortunately I'm giving it a thumbs down!!!! I'll never go there again. What a shame because the food is good. That doesn't make up for the awful service. read more

Not knowing what kind of restaurant this was from the outside, no menu on the outside to preview, my 10 yr old daughter and I decided to be adventurous one Sunday after church...switching it up from our usual chain lunch of the typical chain like Panera's or Chili's. It turns out the menu was solely brunch and no kid's menu. We decided on the Quiche Lorraine and pancakes. Both were good enough. My daughter was most impressed with the fruit compote butter. It was delicious. On the higher end of price points but, portions were a good size. Won't likely return for brunch but, may try for another time. The menu looked interesting. read more

Came to this restraunt with co-workers and will never come again. The food was bland and taking a bath in mayo. What was worse is the server did not even ask why I did not eat my food. I was still charged for the full amount $12. A server should pay attention to their customers and ask if everything is okay with the food not ignore them. read more

Very good experience. The menu and the food is the antithesis of corporate food, kind of Asian meets Italian. The menu is very large. It is hard to decide what to order. All four of us had an excellent meal, with very fresh seafood in every dish. We didn't do wine, so, I can't comment on that. They have Paulaner Oktoberfest on draft, which is pretty much every beer head's nirvana. The service was impeccable. Highly recommended. read more

Had a very, very bad experience at the Carrollwood location. Prior to the pandemic, we, and friends, would visit this establishment. Always had a nice time. After the pandemic restrictions were lifted, my wife, a close friend, and me went on a Wednesday at 5:30PM (we all were fully vaccinated). Except for one table with 4-6 people, the place was totally empty. A man told us we could not be served and basically wanted us to leave. He offered no explanation. Any explanation would have sufficed,...short staffed, menu supply issues, got the place booked for a big party tonight, trying to get going again...whatever. But, nothing. My wife reminded me that he asked if we had a reservation. We did not. But, we never, ever called for a reservation in the past. He basically said, please leave. So, we left...for good. I'd give it no star, but Yelp doesn't allow that. We wound up going to a nearby place called Espositos. The place was packed...the food and service was terrific. read more

Celebrating a birthday I recommended Circles as I had been a fan from years ago when it was located in the plaza just a short distance from its present location. Started with the Duck Confit and Egg Rolls. Crispy Duck, Veal Oscar, and Seafood Tortellini were our entree choices. Portions were large, came out hot and delicious. Service attentive and friendly with the pace expected with the fare served. Perfect place for the diner who enjoys food that is classic with a creative touch. Looking forward to our return. Had dinner at Circles for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We stopped by without reservations early on a Saturday evening (we tried to call but their phone was out) and were seated right away. What a pleasant surprise! The servers were attentive and friendly, the owner helped us pick out a nice wine, and the food was really excellent. The lobster bisque was creamy but not heavy, with just the right amount of kick. The filet in wine sauce was excellent, and the lamb chops (a special that night) was even better. To top off the meal, we had a crème brûlée that was as good as any we've ever tasted. The restaurant doesn't do a very good job of getting its name and reputation out (they need a website), but based on our first experience, it is really a gem. We will return. read more

HUGE disappointment. I was excited to meet my friend to celebrate her birthday tonight. The overall vibe of the bistro seemed very pleasant. -- We ordered the sautéed Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer and they were delicious. The cream of spinach soup was also tasty. -- Since I really enjoy Asian foods, I ordered "Hunan Chicken with Peanuts." Unfortunately, it tasted like fish. I cannot eat fish or seafood. After another taste, I had to literally flag down the waiter for assistance. I asked if their recipe used Fish Sauce. The owner was nearby and said there was no fish sauce in the dish. They did not seem concerned that I was not happy with my entree. No option to switch meals was offered. I was floored by their total lack of concern. -- I set the plate aside and the waiter totally avoided our table. When he finally returned, after my friend had completed her dinner, he asked if I wanted him to remove the plate of food. -- My friend and I were shocked by the poor customer service. She was very uncomfortable because she suggested Circles. -- When the check came, I was charged for the dish. I asked the waiter about it and he said - "It is our policy to charge for everything that is ordered. That's our policy. I'm sorry you didn't like the dish." -- Oddly, he was not pleased when I only tipped him for the dishes that were consumed. I would never stiff a waiter totally, but fair is fair. -- They could have had a new loyal customer, if they had shown some concern and tried to resolve the issue. I wish I could write an enthusiastic five (5) star review for Circles but their policy left me hungry and greatly disappointed. read more

Excellent food, friendly staff, good service. The owner did everything to accommodate us. Will definitely come back again. My husband ordered a seafood dish which was so good, We were both scraping the bowl enjoying the sauce that was left with with the artisan bread. My favorite thing about this restaurant is bistro. So, not stuffy, very relaxed, but elevated. The food is excellent, but I also enjoyed the ambience with the light jazz playing in the background, the laughter all around, and the educated suggestions of wines from the owner. Such a gem. I had the pleasure of dining here twice recently. Both times, lunch and dinner were quite pleasant. Granted, the server during dinner was more efficient than lunch (waiter seemed indifferent and not wanting to serve if you know what I mean). The thing I love most here, is their pasta. I have not had such well done pasta in a LONG time. Here is how I would recommend to other Yelpers to get the best experience out of Circle. Order some appetizers (crab cake, calamari, quite good) and soup (lobster bisque), then add a few main entrees (veal, scallops). Get some serving spoons and share the variety among a small group. Be sure to go DEEP on a pasta dish or two to truly appreciate the pasta here. Regarding dessert, can't comment since I was too full to go further. It would be a shame if Carrollwood loses such a decent place. Not to take away from Michael's, but I think Circle is better tasting by a few notches. I also feel their ingredients are better since I did not feel bloated after a very big meal here. read more

Circles has changed with the times. NO longer the same great quality with a reasonable price point. After trying one more time thinking our last visit may have just been an off night, it was just more of the same lack luster food, higher pricing along with an over priced bottle of wine. My dinner was the Snapper which came on a plate of simple vegetables, some flavoring with a 4-6 ounce piece of hard over cooked Snapper. My wife ordered the Veal that had been ever so finely sliced and lost on the plate under sauce. The final nail came with a non extravagant bottle of wine found in any wine store taking our bill well into triple digits. Sadly, we will not be going back and just cannot justify the expense for the mediocre. read more

Everytime I go I am more impressed,,,,just delicious freshly prepared food at its finest...Today I ordered the Rice Flour Dredged Calamari with Jalapeno Topping---fabulous....then I ordered 2 Asian entrees (to take home leftovers)--Hunan Chicken and Beef and Broccoli....both well done...my husband's veal with gorgonzola was so tender and flavorful and of course the Lobster bisque is crucial if this is your first visit...love this place. read more

I have been to Circles many times and the food is always good and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive considering that their boss is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. He is rude and very unfriendly and needs to either hire a bartender or someone more pleasant to run the restaurant. When you call for a reservation he tells you he can't hold a table for 2 hours then when you get there the place is empty. The only reason they are still in business is because of the food and the people he hires to serve it. Someone needs to get him a book on etiquette and how to treat your paying customers. I will not be visiting this establishment again as long as he is still there. read more

Been following Mike & Judy around town for 20+ years. So glad they settled back close to their home in Carrollwood. This is a business that reflects the owners for better or worse. Yes, definately an unprofesional cluttered look at the door, but Judy is a great chef & master at various ethnic styles all done very well! The brunch as mentioned in other reviews is wonderful, the fresh fruit & strawberry butter are excellent. Don't be afraid to glance at both the dinner & lunch menu's no matter what meal you are there for. If Judy is not overwhelmed usually she is agreeable to make the dish off either menu. Naturally there are $ differences for portion size differences. The shrimp used in the shrimp dishes are very large. Never have had a bad meal there & rarely have had room to try out their homemade deserts. I go there for the chicken Czarina with eggplant. Czarina sauce on anything is exceptional! Service can sometimes suffer depending on staffing. Although, rarely closed except on stated days off, be reminded this IS a family business & they are the business so if other life issues arise they may have to be closed.
