I really wanted to like Ciro's. Best service but the food was more fast food level. I ordered a plain pizza with a few green peppers. Soggy, overcheesed but curiously a good outside crust. Super delicious! My husband ordered a medium half DC's style and chicken Alfredo pizza with cheesy garlic bread. Surprisingly, the DC's pizza does have green olives which I hate but I noticed after the fact that I finished eating that they were on there. That's how good it was. Those of you Ranch lovers out there would appreciate the homemade ranch here since the flavor and seasoning is on point. Stopped by on a hot day when passing through on a long road-trip. The temperature was 116 outside. They had a white napkin tied to the front door aluminum handle. It is small things like that which I notice and appreciate. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ambiance, casual clean and cool. Ordered the large vegetarian pizza. It was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Tasted delicious with excellent ingredients. Ive had similarly made good pizzas for less though. Family rented an AIRBNB for thanksgiving break and on our last day we were tired of Turkey. We decided to look up restaurants near by. This place had good reviews so we gave it a try. Called a head of time for pick up. By the time we arrived (16 min drive) the food was ready. We ordered 2 chicken fettuccine Alfredo and 1 lasagna. They came with garlic bread. The food was delicious and the portions were great. My sisters only criticism was that the lasagna needed more sauce. My fettuccine was one of the best I've had. The sauce was so creamy. We have been going to Ciro's since 1983. We live in Riverside and we are more than willing to drive 88 miles to get there! Not only is the Pizza great, but the salad, lasagna and eggplant parmesan are excellent.. It is well worth the trip to go from the Inland Empire to Indio to get great Italian food! They have been at the same location in the same place since 1963. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! read more

This is going to be the first in a series of reviews because I hope the new owners will understand what Ciro's means to the long-time residents of Indio. I have been eating at Ciro's since I moved to Indio in 1979. I have eaten at Ciro's at least 8 times since the new owner took over. Tonight, I had dinner and again I'm disappointed. Here is what happened tonight: Very poor service - I think there was only one person acting as a server all the others were helpers. I was out of water halfway through my meal and could never get anyone to bring me more. They have changed how they do the bread - It tastes old and dry. They have changed the salad yet again - now on the third version of the house salad. They have changed the cheese - now using cheap Parmesan cheese instead of the freshly grated cheese they used to use. I will continue to eat at Ciro's because of the memories I have but not as often. I am frustrated that the new owner tells everyone that nothing has changed while slowly changing everything. It is sad what the new owner is doing to this business. read more

Even though the service was good, the food was lacking in taste and very bland. I had the vegetarian lasagna and my husband had the noodles with marinara sauce and meatball. We continuously had to dump salt on our dishes which we shouldn't have to do. Not sure if we'll return maybe have to stick with Mario's. read more

I went in about a week ago thinking I was gonna get amazing food. The food was like whatever and the man that was taking care of us kept coughing over the food. It was pretty gross. Also, the food took forever to come in and to make it worse, my shrimp caesar salad came after my fettuccine primavera! It wasn't even busy. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. It has gotten to the point where the owner recognizes me and my family. When they changed owners a few years back it went down in quality 100% but since the original owner has returned it's gotten back to the original standard I was used to as a little girl. Pricing is great, you get a lot of food, and it's delicious. When I wasn't vegan I would order the lunch special half ravioli and half spaghetti. Mostly now I just stick to the spaghetti with marinara. This place is great if you are looking for somewhere to stop after a long day, for a family function, or even just to stop for a quick bite. You really cannot go wrong with anything that is on the menu it's all amazing and I can guarantee you will be satisfied. read more

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! That should be the motto of anyone who takes over a restaurant that's been open for almost five decades. This place used to be the best pizza place in five counties. That was back in the day when you'd walk in and be able to talk to the owner because he was seated at the table in the front. It's certainly not that way anymore. I have no idea who the owner is and I don't think any of the workers do, either. Probably some hedge fund manager who was looking to diversify his portfolio and thought a pizza place might be fun to own. It seems like he also thought that cutting costs might also make him more money. It really bugs me because I've been coming here since I was a kid growing up in Indio and stop by whenever I'm back in town but now I don't know if I'll ever come here again. Such a shame! I moved from the Desert in '07 but on every visit back my first dinner was always a wonderfully baked manicotti so fresh from the oven the sauce was still boiling. I have never (despite hundreds upon hundreds of attempts) been able to find any restaurant to match the perfection of a Ciro's manicotti. As with so many of these reviewers I am a generational customer. Four generations of my family have spent countless dinners, get-togethers, celebrations and the like in the old open-floor restaurant. The beautiful disorganization of the restaurant was perfect--booths along the wall surrounding tables covered in red checkered table cloths. There was hardly any elbow room between the tables but, let's face it, you were probably good friends with your table neighbor anyway so no harm was ever done. The restaurant was always abuzz--orders being taken, waitresses passing by with hot plates and pizza to die for, greetings from old friends. It really was a family place. My mom used to call in orders like she was calling an old family friend. Even at my young age I was always greeted by name and with a smile and was even allowed to still have my kids portion manicotti when they took it off the menu. This was hands down my favorite place in the world growing up. Sadly, when I go home to visit, I skip the restaurant and order to-go. It is so depressing to see the new renovations "classing up" the place. The dark furniture and closed off booths break my heart... They've done away all that some of my best memories were built on. The last time I went in, clearly downtrodden by the change, the waiter commented on my sad state by excusing the owners for wanting to make the place more like a restaurant than a cafeteria. I'm sure he was sick of hearing us fogies go on day after day about how good it was way back when but he was so oblivious to how awful and hokey the place is now. No originality, nothing unique about it... Its just another sell-out joint trying to keep up with the Olive Gardens of the world. By the way, is charging for bread normal now?! I was stunned that I had to order it and then was charged! The only saving grace is the manicotti. It was still as perfect as it was the first time I remember eating it from my grandmother's plate. I feel blasphemous giving Ciro's less than 5 stars. I have to keep reminding myself that the Ciro's I'm rating is nowhere close to being in the same league as the Ciro's I know and love. read more

Well This was our family's restaurant when I was growing up. The Italian food is simple yet so full of flavor. They are known for their pizza (Cheese and the Ciro's deluxe) and their one of a kind homemade italian dressing. I have traveled to many places and have eaten my share of pizza in (Rome, New York City, Paris, and Boston, etc) But there has Never been a pizza that can match good old Ciro's. This place has very recently undergone a change of ownership and a much needed remodel which gives it a much more classy and up-to-date look. The menu has had some updates as well, although it remains very similar to the original Ciro's menu. The pizza seems to taste even better than before, and the service is outstanding.
