We had dinner at Ciro's and it was so enjoyable. We arrived in time for the Early Bird specials. I had the tortellini marinara and my husband had the chicken parmesan. Each came with a small salad. We also ordered a medium pizza, half pepperoni and half mushroom, knowing we would take part of it home. The food was hot and delicious. We ordered the pizza with thin crust and it was also delicious. Kayla wasn't actually our server, but she pitched in with drink refills and boxing leftovers. Everyone was pleasant. Pretty decent pizza joint in a place like Indio. Stopped in last night after an awful experience at Charli Marrones and were greeted and sat immediately upon entering by a nice young lady and a nice young man brought us waters and some bread while we looked at the menus. They have a great happy hour from 3-5pm, which we just missed, but luckily there regular beer prices are fairly reasonable as I got a pint of Moretti for $4.50. The clam chowder is only served on Fridays, so I was interested to try it. I'm glad I did as it was surprisingly good! I had the BBQ Chicken Pizza and added pineapple. It was pretty tasty and the crust was especially edible. My only gripe would be I wished they had put the bbq sauce under the cheese rather than drizzled across the top to give it more consistency in flavor instead of bbq sauce pockets. I got a small and it was six full size pieces, so be warned that they don't skimp on portion sizes! That being said, the prices are a little high for what you get. My pizza was $12.95 w/a $2 upcharge for adding the pineapple, so $14.95 for my pizza was a bit pricey, I felt. I did dock a star for an issue w/the garlic cheesebread we had ordered. Our soups came out immediately and when we ordered the garlic bread we had wanted it as an appetizer before our pizzas. Our pizzas came out fairly fast, so when I asked the waitress about our bread she said it was probably ready, then a few mins later said it would be out any min, and halfway through our pizzas, it showed up. For $4.99, it was definitely not good as it was basically a bread log w/too much garlic flavor and drizzled with melted cheese. What miffed me about the whole thing was I think our waitress forgot to put in the order (as the ASAP next to the last entry for the garlic bread on our receipt indicates), so instead of fessing up or asking if we even still wanted it, she blatantly lied about it. Needless to say, I cannot recommend the garlic bread, at all, but if you are in the mood for some quasi-expensive decent italian food with a casual atmosphere, this place is it! read more

I'm giving this a 4 star (even though I think it's a 5) because the only thing I've ever tried is the pizza. Which, by the way, is best enough for me, but I want to be fair in my review. I've always gotten delivery so truly, yesterday was the 3rd time I've been inside the restaurant. It's been upgraded to a more modern feel, but the pizza was top shelf yesterday as it has been all these 20 years that I've been in this valley. I'm a Chicago-style pizza girl, but the DC was an amazing NY pizza! Even though I use a fork and knife to eat my pizza, I did notice that the thin crust was perfectly crisp but foldable without snapping in half. The person who served us, must have been an owner or a manager who cared for his customers as an owner because he was on it like nobody's business! I didn't get his name (my bad!!). I remember he was in a Cowboys jersey, though. The "Cowboys Fan" wasn't afraid to jump right in with staff while delegating work out. He sat us, took our order, served us, waited on us, all the while clearing off tables and resetting them for the next guests. If you're looking for a relatively cheap personal pizza and side salad for lunch, this may be your place. We went their on Saturday afternoon and they were about a third full of people. We were greeted promptly and seated right away. The young lady got our drink order out immediately and she took our order. Both my wife and I ordered the lunch special that consisted of the personal pizza and the side salad. The salad came out right away. It was good, cold and fresh. The pizzas came shortly after. About an 8" pizza cut into 6 slices. I had pepperoni and sausage while my wife had the pepperoni and mushrooms. It came out hot. Overall, the crust was thin and crusty. The pepperoni was good but I didn't care for their crumbled sausage. The pizza flavor was just okay. We ordered the cannoli for dessert. It was good. It had a Hershey syrup swizzled over the top. They have a number of other menu items to try out so if you don't want to spend a lot and feel adventurous, give it a try. read more

Hate to write this but need too. I've lived in the desert for ever and Ciro's was one of the pizza joints we would eat at when I was a kid, and later on with my own young kids. Last week Saturday afternoon we decided to have lunch here, the place was mainly empty as we sat down and given a small menu that only had lunch specials. We decided to try it, and in addition I asked if we could order a small pizza. We were hungry from all the walking we had done. Well we received the specials we had chicken parmesan and mind you I wasn't expecting the moon at these prices but what we got wasn't ok. It was served in like a large butter dish with the cheese covering soggy breaded chicken under the spaghetti and drenched in sauce that appeared at least twice cooked dry dark reddish brown burnt crisped edges... ok I try the spaghetti then chicken a couple more bites yes but dang it i was hungry, I looked at my wife and she said don't eat it, its bad. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs but just couldn't eat much of it because tasted old. We sat disappointed. We aren't complainers but something had to be said so we politely informed the waitress she apologized but didn't seem surprised and took it back. The cook comes out and the waitress tells him but instead of being embarrassed or apologetic he was visibly angry. Well we finished the small pizza which was fine but left hungry and a bit nauseous at the thought of the dishes. They didn't discount or remove the items from our bill of which I was surprised! So I paid it to show we weren't looking for a discount just wanted decent food, and I tipped the waitress as it wasn't her fault. read more

I would not go so far as to calling this place authentic. Though Ciro's is a local place/family restaurant, it may be a factor for many who don't want to visit chain restaurants. Having been here today, I definitely would not come back for the food. The service is fine but the food was definitely not appetizing. The salad tasted not fresh and it was chunks of lettuce like the ends of lettuce being served and the tomato was neither fresh nor tomato like. The Cesar dressing was awful as well. The pizza was overly greasy and 17$ for a large pepperoni is not worth it. Even Lombardi's or Grimaldi's in New York have better pizza at an affordable price. The chicken parm was overly sauced but the chicken might have been the redeeming factor for the two stars. Though it was overly sauced, this plate was also kind of greasy as well. Ciro's claiming to be an Italian restaurant is definitely a joke. They need to take a page out of an Italian recipe book and actually start making pizza and pasta the way the Italian's do. Food has always been great but the manager is awful and not willing to work with the customer at all. I hosted an event with 30 people thinking it was buffet style because that's what the manager said- $19 per person with only 3 small pizzas and 2 small pasta dishes. How is that enough for 30 people? Pizza's were not replenished and we were actually charged more. We could've gone elsewhere for that price. And to top it off, their AC was not working that day. The manager failed to let us know, instead she felt like they did their job. How? The banquet room was 92 degrees the entire time!! How is that okay? We live in the desert and that day it was 120 outside. We had planned to host multiple events there, but with that poor management, no way. Make sure you realize you are entering a B rating establishment. They have it hidden on the side near the patio. Me and my family have come here for years but noticed the food is no longer fresh. I was actually sick after eating lasagna for two days. Also what was very odd is what looked like a 10 year old kid maybe younger was there serving our plates and basically working. All of this started to add up and that's when I realized that the Ciro's I used to know had a B rating health code when I walked out. If you miss the old Ciro's I recommend going to Norma's Kitchen In Rancho Mirage. It's the original owners Ron and Norma. The food here is ok. The dishes were missing some spices like oregano and basil. The lasagna was the most popular dish but was lacking in flavor. The wife said the same thing about her manicotti. The antipasto was idk..first time I had it. It was like a cheese and pepperoni salad with Italian dressing. But the cannoli stole the show and saved the meal. Laying on a bed of creamy whip (emphasis on the h) cream drizzled with chocolate syrup was great. I should've ordered this for dinner Instead. I lost count how many times the waitress came by and asked how's the meal and is everything okay? It was to the point where it was frickin irritating you just wanted to finish and leave. Good pizza! Loved the thin crust (but not too thin that it crunches every time you take a bite) pizza, particularly, the mushroom. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to pizza -- only a mushroom, Hawaiian or all cheese eater (Though I would like to try their margherita sometime.) Ample toppings of thinly sliced mushrooms. The others in my party enjoyed the sausage pizza (white sausage, I THINK). Again, hearty toppings there. A large pizza will serve about three hungry people very well. read more

We were passing through on the way to Fullerton and because of the ratings and reviews, took my students here for supper. I would recommend this as an eating stop if you are in Indio. My daughter and I had the Margherita pizza and it tasted fresh and delicious. The rest of the students were less adventurous and they had a cheese pizza. The mozzarella cheese is the Buffalo mozzarella. The tomatoes are Romas. There is a healthy amount of chopped basil. Jerry, the owner, said he's been working on the recipe to make it authentic. The crust of their pizzas are superb. I had a slice of the cheese pizza and it, too, was good. I didn't read the menu, but I think it is a multi-cheese pizza, judging from the flavor. The students (high school) said it was really good and they enjoyed it. They had on their board as a daily special a basil cream tortellini. Sounded delish and wish I could have tried that. On the recommendation of friends, Went there last night (04/14) for the 1st time. What a pleasure it was to find a container of unlimited serviettes, and a small bottle of hand sanitizer right on our table! When the glasses of water came, they already had a nice chunk of lemon on the rim - I didn't have to ask for it. Our waitress 'Dalla' was pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient. The menu is easy to read with many choices, as was the wine menu. The price point was lower than comparable restaurants, the portions were large. AND - the background music was the 60's & 70's soft rock!! It doesn't get any better.... We will definitely be back .... read more

Was a bit leery deciding on this place when I drove by, but then read the recent reviews of new ownership. So glad we decided to take a chance and try it. It was Delisioso! As well the wait staff was very friendly and attentive too. My son who never eats anything had 3 pieces of the hand tossed, homemade cheese pizza. I went with the favorite on the menu- the lasagna. The marinara sauce was so yummy, it was not disappointing. I only wish I could have eaten more! Of course we wished we lived closer so we could come back soon but we are vacationing! Giving 1 star, however, 1 star is generous after what we experienced. First, my husband and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. When it arrived at the table it had the consistency of soup, runny liquid with half artichoke hearts and floating pieces of spinach. Certainly not the hot spinach artichoke dip you usually get at other restaurants. We did ask the waitress about it; she said it was their version of the dip. It was awful!!! I ordered the Chicken Marsala. It arrived in a large bowl filled to the rim with runny Marsala sauce. Couldn't even locate the chicken under all the sauce. Once found, the chicken pieces were so over cooked. My husband ordered a hot pastrami sandwich. The meat was lukewarm at best, and the sandwich was dripping with mustard. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant when we were there. No reason for terrible food. Service was ok at best. Friendly, but no real knowledgeable of the menu. We completely understand that businesses are short staff. Like I said the staff was friendly, but they couldn't really answer any questions. We will not be returning any time soon. read more

Amaaaaazing! We created our own garlic chicken, bacon and onion with Alfredo sauce pizza. It was so good. A friend had recommended we try it. So glad we did! The place doesn't look great, (or even open), from the outside. But worth a second glance. I will be back and will bring friends. The waitress was quiet (may even be seen as unfriendly) but great.
