So this is a very small bagel shop. Not super small but it doesn't have a lot of room for seats but there's a lot of room for everything else so it's actually very stationed. But on the inside they're only about seven tables to say that game. They have a couple tables outside I got as well. This spot is kind of hidden away so you don't really know you are going barely. Wish you know you're going there. It's not on the main street so that makes a big difference. Buttered croissant - Now this was a pretty good croissant sandwich. My only thing with it was ty. Meat was thin and the Patty that they had for the sausage didn't even really measure up to the width of the bread itself. So there was a lot of bites that had no sausage in it. But The taste was good. Pastrami egg and Swiss (jalapeno bagel) - The bagel sandwich was really good. I feel like there could have been more meat but they had enough to function. The bagel was thick, the pastrami was hot and the cheese was melted. I would definitely get this again. It was really filling. I got mine with Swiss cheese but they have a couple other options. If you're in the area trying to find a little duck off, this is a good spot to get a quick sandwich. So delicious!! They start baking at 430am. I tired the salmon bagel and it was an excellent portion and very flavorful with the onions and cream cheese. We also got an almond croissant. They were massive and beyond any expectation of perfection! It was light, moist, crisp and absolutely the best I have ever had. The ladies working were busy and efficient. The bakery decor is basic but the food makes it five star! Their expresso machine was broken but it was the real deal for when it is repaired. The 2 ladies at the front couldn't have been more cheerful and smiley than most at work on a weekday at 6:45 a.m. when my Dad who'd just had knee surgery requested that I run on over there for bagels and croissants! (I'm originally born/raised in SS and everytime I'm back there are more and more amazing places to eat!) Ambiance - very very sad. Bright fluorescent lighting, dingy bleighe tables and floors. Empty display cases (maybe it was too early for them to be filled?) This place needs an injection of color or style! The pitiful little table and chair on the sidewalk didn't make it seem inviting to walk into. Food - that croissant was the size of my child's head. Seriously puffy, buttery, flaky and unbelievable, and I thought Costco croissants were my favorite! City Bagel is a good neighborhood spot with good bagels and pastries. I love their scallion cream cheese on everything bagel. Even though their bagel is not as dense or chewy as an NY bagel, it's still pretty good! The cinnamon roll that is more like a cinnamon pastry is delicious and addictive. It can be a bit inconsistent at times, under or over baked by a few seconds but again always satisfying. The staff is super nice and I love that they open super early in the morning. We came here for breakfast on the last Sunday in November a little after 9 am. Parking was easy to find at that time, since hardly not very many customers were there. We walked up to the order counter. The woman behind the counter was all business and cordial, with no time for any chit chat or smiles. She also seemed a little annoyed when we asked questions about the food selections, something that we seem to do whenever we go to a restaurant for the first time. While we were still at the front of the line, ready to place our order with the employee, she just turned to a guy who passed by everyone in the short line, and took his order and payment. Rude! I ordered pastrami, egg and Swiss on a toasted Asiago cheese bagel, and R ordered smoked salmon on a toasted NY style Everything bagel. We sat down and waited only about 5 minutes before we got our food. The baked goods in the glass display at the counter looked very good. The restaurant isn't all that big, and the tables inside don't accommodate very many customers. No one cleaned the tables after customers left. R liked his smoked salmon, and he said it was good. I, on the other hand, did not like my bagel sandwich. The bagel itself was good. However, the pastrami was hard and not tender. The pastrami seemed like it was either old or cooked too long. Masks required sign on the door. Besides that no other social distancing rules or signs enforced. Folks are able to dine in and there is also some outdoor seating but not much. Parking is plenty enough. Went on a Saturday around noon and it was not too packed or busy but the traffic in and out was steady. I did enjoy the variety of pastries I got. I've tried City Bagel a few times. The bagels are always fresh, and the service is friendly. My 3 stars come from the cook, NEVER having anything on her head when she's making breakfast sandwiches. I think anyone who is actively cooking needs a haircut or a scarf on. I also dislike that they use cheap precooked heat and serve patty sausage. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying upwards of $7 for a bagel breakfast sandwich, I don't want cheap heat and serve patty sausage. I did try the Smoked Salmon breakfast bagel, and it was worth every penny. No frills, down-home cafe. This is a place I imagine has frequent regulars where everyone knows their name. There is a local vibe to it that I adore. I've tried a few things here, all which were pleasant. Their bagels and bagel sandwiches are wonderful and filling. Their cookies, danishes, and various pastry selections are also tasty. I came on a week day morning as they were opening at 630 and they weren't ready for me yet. A few minutes later the cashier came and was able to check me out and see if they had all the items I wanted to buy. The bagels and pastries are great though. Some of the best bagels in Atlanta and the cream cheese was nice too. I did not set foot in this place during Covid, though I did order delivery several times. I went back for the first time recently (for masked takeout), and was happy to see that the quality is still there, even if it appears to be a totally different crew running the place. The bagels have a texture that I have never experienced outside of NYC, with a crisp exterior and tender, yet chewy interior. Even towards the end of the week of working through a baker's dozen, they toasted up as fresh and wonderful as on day one. I was thrilled to find almond croissants in the bakery case. These were stunning when I had gone there before, but you can't order them (or any pastry) on Uber Eats. If anything, they have improved. Rather than being split and spread with almond paste (marzipan), it is now baked in. I have had layovers in Paris on the way to Italy. On one trip, we arrived at the airport early in the morning, and I made it a point of finding the best pastry shop in the airport (thanks, Yelp!) and getting an assortment of pastries for me and my family, including croissants. It is hard to describe what makes a perfect croissant, but you know it when you've had it. The almond croissant at City Bagel is every bit as good as the best of the croissants we had in Paris. It is so buttery, and flaky, and yet, it also has just the right amount of chew to it. The almond paste filling is sublime, and it is generous enough to give a delicious, creamy portion in every bite, rather than a treasure buried in a hunk of plain bread. They top it with powdered sugar and slivered almonds, which have been cooked in sugar until crisp and sweet. I got greedy and brought home four, meaning we had two the next day. I went in for breakfast and I got the Pastrami Swiss and Egg and an Everything Bagel. The amount of meat and egg to bagel was A1. The sandwich was moist and juicy oh and I love everything bagels lol. In this, the Age of the 'Rona, it's not always easy to get what you want or what you need, but if you have a little patience, you can get what you want. I was tired, I knew I had to wake up "early" for a virtual meeting, and I had nothing left in the house that would be good for breakfast. Out of desperation, and yes -- my own laziness, I turned to Yelp to help find something good for delivery, et voila, here I am. I ordered some bagels and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant to be delivered at 8am the next morning. Sure enough, as I was logging on to my meeting, my doorbell rang at 8am and I opened it to find all of the deliciousness right there on my welcome mat. The croissant was hot and delicious. The bagels were warm, too, but I saved them for later. It was the best late-night decision I've made in a long time, and I can't wait for the world to open up to the point where I can just pop in safely and get my breakfast there on a more regular basis. I finally decided to go on this Yelp app to see if they're actually was a regular bagel place. Found this one and so happy that I have an actual real bagel so I can enjoy my morning one with coffee! By the way their prices were pretty good and I did try their croissants which we're good. I like to throw them in the toaster and make them kind of crispy and throw some honey on them. We had the fried egg and turkey sausage breakfast sandwich on a wheat everything bagel and the traditional scramble (also with a wheat everything bagel, with butter). The bagels were fresh and tasty. The sandwich was delicious, as the eggs tasted fresh and the turkey sausage was crispy and nicely seasoned. The scramble was also super tasty. The people were attentive...my bagel was huge and delish. Quality for the money right here. Toppings on both sides of bagel, TWO REAL eggs and choice of 3 diff cheeses. Disappointing. I thought based on the pics it was a true bagel place but sadly disappointed again. It's been hard to find a good bagel place in Georgia and I'm still on the search. The bagels were ok but were a little rubbery. Also they don't offer pork bacon or sausage only turkey which is fine but should let you know that before ringing you up and then telling you oh we only have turkey bacon.....Also their everything bagel was missing the salt and the flavors a regular everything bagel normally has.
