My husbands meal was stuffed in a small carry out container. The bun on my brisket sandwich was soggy and gross. The food was not even warm. We live 5 miles away. I don't understand how this place is successful. Ohioans have 0 idea of BBQ, and I feel for them. Take down your ad that states your brisket is Texas style. The brisket is dry with no bark. There is no flavor, and the quality of meat is Choice at best. You're using hickory to smoke brisket, which will never penetrate the meat. Do yourself a favor, and use 16mesh pepper, coarse salt and post oak if you want to smoke Texas style. Your beans taste worst than out of the can which isn't saying a lot. And for the advertisement on 610 about people from Kansas City in town and they loved City BBQ Those people must be idiots with no taste buds For starters when I went into the Polaris location they had just opened, I ordered, they pulled the meat out storage and it was wrapped in saran wrap. Are you kidding, Gates and Sons or any of the other KC places would never serve anything other then right off the smoker. Ok, I've been to quite a few of the "fast food" bbq joints that are popping up around town (dickey's and mission bbq) but nothing tops the City BBQ we had in Columbus. Holy Moley this was the best BBQ I've had in a long time. DH and I stopped for lunch on our way back home from an overnight stay in Ohio. Michigan has been in a lockdown for months and restaurants have yet to open so going in to eat at a restaurant has been so nice. I'm not a huge bbq fan but my husband is and since I picked the dinner place the night before (Chuy's) I let him pick lunch. City BBQ knows how to do brisket. It was so tender and had just the perfect amount of fat to keep it juicy! I never order ribs and I decided to try and so glad I did! Those ribs were also tender juicy and had just the right amount of smoke (not a huge fan of Smokey flavor) I added a side of baked beans and they were delicious as were the hush puppies. Overall a great lunch and well worth all the meat stuck in my teeth. You get a choice of sauces and we both picked their original and the sweet chili. Similar in taste so go with either! Walked over for lunch since it's in close proximity to my work. They offer discount for my employer and free drink. Some of the best homemade lemonade around town! I ordered beef biscuit and was very tasty. I love their hot bbq homemade dressing. Love the bun on sandwhich, tasty and shiny. For sides i ordered the fries (they are amazing) and their mac and cheese. Excellent. They move the line through quickly, offer friendly and courteous service and the place was very clean. Excellent chain restaurant bbq. You find real bbq here folks, slow smoked to tender. Everything is A+. When Eating BBQ, I go for ribs, not so much the pull pork and briskets! I rate the BBQ mainly on the ribs and the sauce. I have eaten at many City BBQ joints in both Cincinati and Columbus.... same excellent quality found every time I dine at one of these joints. I hope they will expand to the Chicago area and compete with Sweet Baby Rays. Also they don't have baby back ribs here, at least the ones I visited. They only sell spare ribs, no baby back ribs :(. All the sides are great, my fav. are the the gumbo and banana pudding. Great selection of quality sauces. I like their pot warmed sauce more than the ones found at the tables. The food quality here is pretty comparable to Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ found mostly in FL/Orlando, but City BBQ is much better managed and operated! read more

I got the food back and discovered that several of the orders were incorrect. So I called to see if there was anyway that can be rectified, they offered a refund. The food is just okay. My sides were actually almost inedible. I love almost all mac and cheeses, but couldn't even eat a small side of it here. The greens are also canned and nasty. As a BBQ guy, I always test the brisket when I go to a place for the first time. The brisket here was moist, tasty and not oversmoked! The baked beans have good flavor and nice chunks of brisket in them. The service was very fast and the dining area is clean. My only area for improvement is the mac and cheese. We picked up a party pack with a party salad on the side to treat some friends to dinner at their home. The entire experience was amazing. The food was hot and ready when we arrived at the restaurant. Cat, our cashier, was friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. And, the best part--the food was unbelievable! My fiancé and I were so proud to serve this meal to our friends. It was packed professionally in take out containers and bags, it was still hot when we served it, it looked amazing on the table, and it was gobbled up with big smiles. I was looking for a good babecue place that was near by and landed on City BBQ from searching through yelp and having a friend's friend who used to live in Columbus recommend this place as one of the better barbecue spots to eat. I decided to check the place out the next day and kept in mind that i was going to order extra for lunch the next day. I walk in and ordered the half of rack of ribs, the brisket, ac and cheese, and hush puppies. Waiting on my order to arrive I check out some of the sauces they offer and when it came time and the lady in the back asked what kind of bbq sauce i wanted I said original and the glaze (forgot the titile) Food review: I drove home and unwrapped everything to find that they didn't give me my brisket but, instead, pulled pork. I was kind of disappointed but, I was already home and didn't want to drive around the block just to get the right order. But, the pulled pork was find and wasn't overly dry like most chain's it was quite flavorful and tasted even better in the spicy glazed bbq sauce I dunked the meat into. The ribs was nicely smoked and was the highlight of the meal though, a tiny bit dry it still tasted wonderful. I loved how the the ribs wasn't smothered in bbq sauce but with a brush on top to act like a glaze. You can tell it was smoked with a dry rub by the looks and taste it has. The rubs had a gret balance in flavor with the smokey taste to the meat, the saltiness of the dry rub and the sweetness from the light brush of bbq sauce that complimented all the flavors. the hush puppies tasted amazing packed full of flavor and a great crunch. the Mac and cheese was just alright. End of food review If i could i'd give this spot a 3.5 rating. They did mix up my order and i feel a little cheated out of it. the meat was a little but not overly dry. Yum yum. Good fries, great sandwiches, with surprisingly good corn pudding and hushpuppies. For desert, I would definitely recommend the banana pudding. Things could get a little messy, but it is well worth it. Just grab a small stack of napkins while you're at the counter, and save yourself an extra trip. There are many different BBQ sauce choices that can really top off the meal. My personal favorite is the brushfire BBQ sauce well known for it's extra zesty kick on top of the pulled pork sandwich. I ordered a smokehouse turkey salad to go with a side of chipotle ranch but instead of the turkey I got a side of pull pork which was the only good item. The salad was awful, the romaine lettuce in there was all brown and nasty. I spent a majority of my lunch time at the office picking out the brown romaine lettuce.
