While in the area I drove past City Barbeque and although one of my favorites is right up the street I love bbq and felt that I should double back and try this new restaurant out, so I did. City Barbeque is located right behind Sprouts in a small shopping center next to Zoe's. There is plenty of free parking. I walked in and the ambiance was casual and friendly. There is a large menu on the wall that makes it easy to figure out what you will order while standing in line. The menu is easy to read they offer beef, pork, turkey and chicken, unless you are a vegetarian you should be able to find something on the menu that you can eat. For those heath conscious folks like me, next to each menu item the calorie count is listed. I wish I could have tried the Green beans or Collards but both contain Pork which I don't eat. Thankfully they give you a heads up that they use pork in certain items, showing that they understand that everyone does not share the same diet ( Fast hand clap). The staff was amicable, prices are reasonable and ordering was easy. I ordered the pulled Chicken with a bun and the hand cut fries. Their hand cut fries were seasoned to perfection and absolutely delicious I could have shared my fries due to the large portion. The pulled Chicken was juicy and they had about 10 sauces to choose from. I ordered to go and since I had never tasted their sauces before instead of getting packs of sauce to go I went to the fix'ns bar and grabbed a few from there. They have sweet bbq sauce, hot, tangy, anything your taste buds is looking for they will probably have. I was throughly impressed with City Barbeque and can't wait to come back. read more

This place is kind of so-so to me. I've had the brisket, chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. All of the meats are decent. They are nothing to go crazy over, but also don't taste bad either. Where they lose me is the sides. The baked beans are just terrible to me, but I am used to a southern black grandma's baked beans, which are sweet and spicy and have green peppers and ground beef. These are more like commercial kitchen in Soho beans. The greens were salty and lacked flavor. The Mac and cheese was just ok. I really wish they had more vegetable options -- like grilled zucchini and/or grilled asparagus. Do not get the banana pudding. It was a soggy mess. The bananas were also way too brown for me personally. I literally couldn't eat it and threw it away. All in all I can't say I like City BBQ, but I don't love it. I will return from time to time, especially to get a sandwich. read more

This place had pretty good reviews so we stopped in for a late lunch. The smell from the parking lot was enough to begin the foodie excitement. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was solid barbecue! This place was dialed! The decor is themed with city highlights with a "cabin in the mountains" feel. The ribs and brisket were spot on! We went to City Barbeque in Snellville., GA. The restaurant was extremely clean and inviting. We were met by Shaq who took our order. Shaq was very friendly and professional. Shaq helped us use our mobile app to get the best bang for our buck, Also there was a very out going gentle who prepared all the orders and made sure that everything was organized that we had to ask what his name was. The pulled chicken sandwich lacked the typical smoky BBQ flavor. The sandwich was also pretty soggy. I ended up deconstructing my sandwich and eating the chicken because the bread was so soggy within minutes. The fries were delicious and had the perfect consistency and crunch to them. I loved the number of options they had for BBQ sauce. I tried the original sauce and the brushfire sauce. Loved the original sauce but I thought the brushfire lacked spice. I was in a Atlanta for a few days for work and really wanted to hit up a good bbq place before I went home. This bbq is obscenely good. Period full stop. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because the garbages inside the restaurant were overflowing. The tray return station was teetering with trays. The drink station with lemonade and sweet tea clearly needed refilling...I only filled my drink up halfway bc an elderly lady made clear to me to leave her lemonade for her and her husband. Lastly virtually every bottle of sauce was either dirty from spillage and needed a wipe or completely empty. But even with the messy stations, I'd come back in seconds with my stretchy pants. The Mac and cheese had just the right amount of cheese with the slightly browned crust you look for. The brisket sandwich needed no sauce whatsoever. It was tender and juicy. The greens while perfectly seasoned were a bit on the salty side for me but they tasted the way they should. And the banana pudding could easily be pumped in my veins. It was that good. Do yourself a favor..,,go here and enjoy the delicious food. Get it in bulk and go home and enjoy so no one has to see you inhaling this food like an animal. It really is just that good. I was craving BBQ and my mom suggested City Barbecue because she's been before. I wasn't interested in sitting down, good thing it was Walk-up to order, then wait for your name to be called. We took ours home. Everything is a-la-cart; I order the Sampler with smoked turkey and smoked sausage. Two nice portions of both, enough to make a meal the next day. I ordered potato salad, very heavy on the mayonnaise. I could taste some onion and a little sweetness. No mustard or egg yolk, if that's your thing. All in all, I would return. Don't know what the rest of the sides taste like but the meat was pleasing enough to try them again. read more

I'm a Texan (origin) so in the 28 years I've lived in Metro ATL, great BBQ has been the hardest to find; many Southerners focus on the sauce rather than the smoke & rub! Today, and after visiting approximately 5-6 times before, the service AND food quality was awful! For starters, the on- duty staff were spending too much time focusing on their one-to-one "shenanigans". Secondly, I ordered the $22.99 platter (I like the jalapeño sausage and brisket ONLY; the brisket quality was extremely dry (old). HOWEVER ... not only was the food legit but also the service. The guy at the counter was helpful in ordering food. I indulged in the pulled pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese, and vinegar slaw. I tried the brushfire sauce and it was just the right amount of spicy for spicy lover on the pulled pork sandwich. Add the slaw left me with the OMG. Please do not go to City Barbecue Decatur on your lunch break. I ordered my food online and requested curbside pickup because I have a knee injury and I'm currently walking with a cane. The online site indicated my order would be ready at 12:56pm. I arrived at 1:00pm and clicked on the link to alert staff that I was waiting outside. At 1:10pm I called into the store and asked if my order was ready? I was told my food would be right out. An entire 15 minutes later I still did not have my food so I called into the store again. I again gave my name and asked if my food was ready. I was told the restaurant was busy at the time and I could always come in to retrieve my order. I responded I did not want to come in and could a please have my food. I also added I was on my lunch break and my time was limited only to be mocked by the lady on the phone. At 1:26pm my food was finally brought out by staff who didn't even acknowledge me or apologize for my wait. At this point I immediately open up my food to take a few bites because I am a diabetic and my blood sugar was swiftly dropping. My food was ICE COLD! This led me to believe my food had just been sitting. I hurried back to work and was warned about being late back from lunch. This was a horrible experience and I do not know if I will ever order from this particular restaurant again. If I could add zero stars I would!!!! read more
