Always looking for good BBQ places and this one is close to where my son lives! Not only was the BBQ great but the sides we tried were excellent. My wife and I went at lunch time and tried their "Lite Lunch Specials". I had the turkey sandwich with BBQ beans (that were smoky sweet with large chunks of brisket) and the collards cooked with BBQ pork (very tasty). My wife had the LoLo lunch special (BBQ pork with their reg. creamy coleslaw on a small bun), she tried their citrus pecan slaw which was tangy and a nice change of pace, and the green beans which were cooked with pork. Food - 4.5 - VG BBQ and sides were excellent! Service - 4 - Efficient counter services, self serve drinks, large seating area (includes outside which can be covered), manager followed up on our satisfaction. Atmosphere - 3.5-4 - clean, with a nice comfortable feel. Price - 5 - We had the Lite lunch that has 2 large sides and small bun sized with a good portioned meat! I've ordered takeout twice from here. The food is all really good - meat is juicy, bbq sauce is good, cornbread and texas toast are delicious. The samplers are a really good deal. But I have to take down a few stars because the last time I went on a Sunday at dinner time, we waited 45 minutes after we received the notification that our order was ready. They didn't start preparing our food until we went up after half an hour and asked about it, and that seemed to be the case for most others in the pickup waiting area as well. Also, they were out of the ribs and forgot the cornbread. They did give us a refund for the ribs and replaced with another meat, but we probably will not be ordering takeout again unless its on a random weekday. read more

Buy extra pulled pork and and use to make homemade pinto or black beans. You'll thank me when you have some smoky beans during this pandemic. I ordered the mothership which has the ribs, 1/2 chicken, brisket, smoked Turkey and six very small sides. They have a call center taking calls on busy days. It appears nice although they are not in direct contact with the actual store. So I ordered, went the go pick it up, and was told no more ribs. They wanted to substitute another meat instead. I elected to come back late when more ribs would be available. The call center is not in direct contact with the location. Otherwise, the service was good. read more

My $75 to go order was a big disappointment! First of all, no one greeted me when I walked in. I was left standing there waiting for one of the 6 or 7 employees behind the counter to notice me. I overheard the staff telling other customers that they were out of original sauce and large cups. They were giving people 3 small cups to equal 1 large cup. Odd. When I finally got my food, I asked the lady (who appeared to be a manager) if my mac and cheese and other sides were in the bag and she told me that everything was in there. Surprise! When I got home my mac and cheese and fries were missing. I called when I got home, but the restaurant was closing, so they couldn't help me. The guy on the phone didn't seem to care anyway. City BBQ offers some good traditional BBQ fare at decent price points. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with French fries and their baked beans with brisket, which totaled to $11 and some change. You can opt to have your pulled chicken come with a bun or without, but of course, I wanted all the carbs. They have a variety of sauces to accompany your meals, and I tried the traditional BBQ sauce that they give you and their Bourbon sauce. I preferred the traditional sauce as the Bourbon sauce had a medicine-like after taste to me. The pulled chicken itself was nice and moist, but there were some hard bits that I crunched down on. I'm not sure if that was gristle that wasn't removed, but it took away from enjoying my sandwich a bit. The sandwich only came with the pulled chicken on it. I wasn't a fan of the baked beans either. They weren't terrible, but I've had better, a bit salty and a little too savory. The fries were also nothing to run home about. They serve natural cut fries and some of mine were a bit burnt. I did also taste the Mac and cheese, and I wish I would've ordered that instead of one of my sides! It was creamy/cheesy and the noodles were cooked nicely. All in all, I would return to CBBQ, and that's only because of the pulled chicken and the Mac and cheese. I also want to try their desserts! read more

Our experiences here have been really good, UNTIL the last 3 times we were there. The BBQ was full of fat, the sides & salad weren't even good. They used to have really good pickles, but apparently they changed their supplier for them, too. It was consistently good, and was my favorite place. Do not waste your time or money when there are so many better alternatives within 10 minutes (Community BBQ, Foxx Bros, DBA bbq). I love barbeque and always seek out the well-known established places, as well as lesser known new establishments. I tried most of the menu at this City Barbeque location on two different occassions. Once as take out, the second time dining in. The bad: Brisket was dry, minimally smoky (2 of 5). Pulled pork (1 of 5) and pulled chicken (1of 5) both had an odd flavor and had the texture of having been stored on a steam table for quite some time. On our second visit my wife's pulled chicken had so much moisture if filled the bottom of the plate (see pic), and had soaked through the side of bread before we sat down. The Mac n' Cheese lacked any kind of flavor. The okay: Sausage had a strong hint of pepper, good casing, and okay texture. The good: The space inside and patio are spacious and look nice. The iced tea was great. There were several bbq sauce options (though I'm usually fine with one good one). The corn bread and corn pudding were great. The fries were also very good. We ordered More Cowbell ($8.29), 2 Judge's Samplers ($28.99) with the sides: mac and cheese, fries, baked beans, and cornbread, and a 3-side plate ($5.99) of collard greens, cole slaw with vinegar, and corn bread. We enjoyed the meats, especially the brisket for me. We also really liked the sauces they provided. However, I did not really like more cowbell. I think it was the horseradish in the sandwich I didn't like. My mom also pointed out that the collard greens were salty. Regardless, we had plenty of food for 7 people who like to eat. Even though this is a chain my first time having it was when I moved to Georgia. This is my go-to spot for beef brisket. I travel 35-45 mins one way. The food is very, very good and the selection and variety of sauces is even better. The staff at this location is always very nice and helpful. Went here while visiting ATL. We went here because my friend is getting married and thinking about using them We didn't have time to setup a tasting but lucky for us they had a Sample Platter. When we approached the counter we left the cashier know what we were trying to accomplish and she suggested the Sample Platter. We didn't order sausage for our Platter but the cashier asked the cook for a Sample for us. Winning! The Sample Platter with drinks totaled around $32 which was perfect for 3 people. So we ordered the ribs, half chicken (white), pulled pork and brisket with corn pudding and baked beans. The order came with cornbread and Texas Toast. When it came to the food we all had different opinions of what we loved most. We definitely agree that everything was delicious! Great flavor, tender, smoky flavor, and large portions. The corn pudding was made perfectly. Sometimes the consistency of corn pudding when made by some people is off. It can be too soupy or too hard but not theirs. The bbq sauces were hitting. My least favorite was the mustard but my absolute favorite was the bourbon. Customer service was on point. The guy walking around ..he looks like an "all around staff" to me as he didn't seem to have a specific position. He was very kind. I even watched him find money on the ground then turn it in to his manager. He didn't know anyone was rewatching him but I was. We've been back to City Barbeque a handful of times recently and have been pleased overall. Nice large portions of good quality meat (no big chunks of fat or anything otherwise unpleasant). Definitely enjoyed the pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and brisket. A decent variety of sides, though some aren't quite to my taste, but the Mac n cheese and green beans and solid choices. I travel all over the U.S. for work and I also love BBQ from South to North and West to East. I ask every one I go into what is in house made, smoked and cooked. Local is the best anywhere. For the price of my meal $26.21 this is way to much. On a scale from 1-10 I give them a 6. This is the first place I've been that has pulled chicken. It was delicious and left a great taste. See my photos. The sausage is charred on one side. Not so good. The lean brisket is a bit more dry than my liking. I only had the green beans for a vegetable side and they are great! Let's talk Customer Service! This place knows how to provide it! Not only is the food really good, but the staff goes above and beyond. Let me provide you some examples on why you should visit this place ASAP: 1) The are super involved with the community. They are always willing to do fundraisers for schools and non-profits. I do not mean like a 2% donation, but I think it is 25% of sales or something huge! They have a chalkboard up that shows how much they have donated and to where. 2)They are willing to step up and help out local schools when they can. They provided our teachers with dinner on parent teacher conference night because we all have to eat. 3)Integrity. Listen, we all can forget something every once in a while. It happens. However, when it does, the staff takes full responsibility and MAKES it RIGHT! My side dish was missing from my order and I called to tell them that I would be back over. Well, not only did they make me a fresh order, but they offered me dessert. totally unnecessary, but so kind and DELICIOUS, may I add. That Banana pudding is DELISH! 4) SUPER Kid-Friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a cornhole set for the kids to play with. 5) They have beer! (Sorry, but needed to add that.) I could not recommend this place enough! Did a curbside pickup order on Monday. Arrived right around the time my food was quoted to be ready. I waited 20 minutes outside and then called inside and let them know I had been waiting for 20 minutes and my food had not been brought out. The woman on the phone didn't apologize, just told me that they were short staffed and asked for my name. I told her my name and that I understood short staffing but my food was quoted to be out at 7:45 and it was now past 8, she apologized, reiterated that they were short staffed and that my food would be out "when they get a chance". I waited several more minutes and someone brought my food out, didn't apologize for the wait or verify anything, just said "here you go" and walked off. I live very close to this location and when I got home my food was cold, which means it was likely just sitting somewhere. They also did not comply with the special request I entered online. This is not my first time receiving bad/slow service from this location but it is definitely the last. The employees act as if they aren't at work and display little concern for the customer. Many customers were going inside and complaining about the wait for curbside. In the future I'll go to other locations for BBQ. read more

We had collard greens, Mac n cheese, baked beans and the corn pudding along with ribs, pulled chicken and pulled pork which we all sampled-very good. The staff were friendly, helpful and willing to assist as needed. The ladies restroom had a Koala Care which is always a plus for those with little ones in need of attention. Edit again: the food itself was mediocre at best. The sausage was dry, salty, burnt Walmart crap. The chipotle BBQ was some nasty overly sweet chop with several pieces that were so hard that they were hard to swallow. One of my coworkers won a lunch for our team and I was requested to manage the logistics for the lunch. The goal was to have a mixed variety of traditional bbq and vegan options considering the range of dietary restrictions amongst my team members. A week prior to the gathering, I reached out to Cierra to let her know which day and time worked best our team. She agreed that date and time would also work for her team. A few days prior to our lunch she shared the following menu: Brisket Pulled chicken Pulled pork Turkey Baked beans Corn pudding Potato salad Vinegar coleslaw for vegan/vegetarian Black bean burgers for vegan/vegetarian Looking at the list, I felt that the vegans were getting slighted because there were only 2 options for them and 8 options for the rest of the attendees. The funny things is most of the vegans and vegetarians were away from the office the day of due to unforeseen circumstances. I placed an order online at 3 pm for curbside pick up at 4pm. I received a text to let the store know that I was on the way. I alerted them that I was on the way however when I got close to the restaurant I received another text saying to let them know when I was on the way. I tried to notify them again however I now received a message saying that they couldn't find my order. I called the restaurant and they stated to come inside so that they can "find" my order. I was trying to avoid coming inside because it is a holiday and I knew it was super crowded. I went inside and asked one of the people helping with online orders if she could check to see what was going on with my order...she immediately told me that it would be an hour wait without even looking. I explained the message that I had received about my order being missing and asked if she would go look. She went to the back..talked to a couple of her fellow employees (laughing and playing) and then came back out. I had to stop her to ask if she checked and she said that it would be an hour wait and if I wanted some water. I asked her a couple of more times and she just walked off. I then stopped a young man and asked him. He came out with the same story. I repeated this 3 more times since I had now been waiting an hour and he said the same thing each time. I finally asked if he would go on the computer to check to make sure that they had my order. He went ti the back and immediately got his manager. He then came out to tell me that the person who had been working the online orders before him had deleted out several of the orders (including mine) as if I had already picked it up. He just stood their looking at me. I asked him how were they going to resolve the issue since it was their error and clearly I didn't have my food. He then said he would get the manager. Instead of the manager coming to speak with me about the mistake, he sends the young man back over to tell me that they would start working on my order but it would have to be placed back in the queue with every other order. At this time, they were still telling people it was still an hours wait. I told the young man that this was unacceptable and since it was THEIR error they should expedite my order. He went to the manager and it still took about 20-30 mins to receive my order and after all of that they missed giving me the cornbread muffins that I paid extra for. I had to ask them to give them to me. I understand that this was a holiday but there was no system for their orders and the staff was totally unorganized. The young lady who I spoke with initially reeked of marijuana and showed no real initiative. The food here has always been good but this will be my last time patronizing this location. They have no regard for their customers which is a reflection of their management who couldn't bother to come speak with me. Do better! read more
