This was our first time to try their food. We ordered for pick up on Super Bowl Sunday and I was not sure what to expect. The food was delicious. The food is good here, but the speed with which you can order is terrible. At 5:15 on a Tuesday, I stood in line for 30 min. One person was taking orders, 2 were on the counter, and 2 in the kitchen. The woman who had also been taking orders left to start adding to stacks of glasses. Standing in line for 30 minutes on a week night is ridiculous. Great BBQ joint to hit our area, it's definitely better than Old Carolina in my opinion. The brisket is delicious, a little dry, but the flavor is great. The ribs are also really good. I love their sauce selection, and their sides are good too. My husband said the greens were good (I'm not a fan in general, so I didn't try them), the hush puppies were amazing-I could eat those little balls of heaven all day, but unfortunately the mac and cheese was just so-so. I can't quite put my finger on what's in it that gives it a "different" taste, but it isn't good. I have a friend who went on a different day than us and she said the same thing. So, that's disappointing. The only other thing I have to complain about is the fact that we ordered a pound of brisket and got charged extra for 2 buns...honestly, come on now, giving your customers TWO buns to go with the meat they purchased so they can make sandwiches is kind of a given. It was wonderful - moist, tender and had just enough smoke flavor. They have many sauces, my favorite was the spicy one. We tried City Bbq today. Amazing southern food. I had the pulled pork. With cornbread and collard greens yummmmm. My only gripe would be that I did not get a proper plate everything was separate on the tray and my husband did because he got half a chicken.. and I needed a plate. This may have been my fault though ... at the end of the dining experience we notice paper plates where the food is expedited. We went in for lunch and tried the Value Lunch menu. Good value! The brisket was very good. Moist and tender! The only negative for me are the sides. I tried the seasonal coleslaw, my hubby had the regular and our friend tried the cucumber onion side. VERY heavy on the vinegar!! So overpowering it made our eyes water. I'm not sure it was supposed to taste that strong. It was almost like it was done incorrectly. This has to be the worst bbq experience you can have. I have tried it several times. Today I was giving it one final try for lunch. I assume the brisket was old because it was very dry. The amount of meat on the sandwich is a joke. In order for the fries to be warmed all the way you have to order it well done or cooked extra. Today they had their unsweetened tea full of sugar. In the past I've had ribs that were not warm and chicken that was still bleeding. I've given them enough time to work out their kinks. Just gave City Barbeque another try and the second experience may have been worse than the first first I ordered 30$ worth of take out then I get a call saying they ran out of ribs I asked the worker to cancel the order she said okay I check my account the next morning and my card was still charged I called the restaurant a young guy answers the phones put me on hold for 10 mins then tells me the manager is on a interview they will call me back in 10 mins 3 hours go by and I have to call them back when I finally get a answer the phone hangs up then I call back and the manager tells me he issued a refund and it has yet to hit my account I'm really disappointed with my experiences from this restaurant although i hear they have great food my experience has not been evident of this. I had the bbq chicken with a side of potato salad. The chicken was juicy, soft and delicious. I felt no need to add any additional bbq sauce. The potato salad was okay, nothing special the potato salad from Diamond Deli is much better. I also tried a brisket taco, the meat was juice and tender but lacked flavor. We went to city barbecue Saturday in Fairlawn Akron for a friends birthday and was a little disappointed, the pulled pork was really good but the ribs were dry not that great of a taste and you actually had to chew the meat off the bone where as even when you Buy them from a grocery store already made up the meat would fall off the bone and really not that bad of a taste W try it again later and see maybe if they might've been just a bad day for them. For some reason this was a horrible experience. They ran out of pulled pork at 6:00 pm on a Friday night. Then I was told I could get another meat for an upcharge.
