For chain BBQ, quite impressive. Absolutely worth your time. Went and got a sampler and a soda, the cost came to about 24 dollars. Got Hush Puppies and Collard Greens with Turkey, Pork, Brisket, Sausage, and Texas Toast. The Brisket was easily the most disappointing part of the meal. It was... there. At best, I'd call it a vehicle for BBQ sauce, at worst, it was roast beef. It wasn't awful, persay, but I couldn't recommend a brisket platter and if this was their best meat they'd have closed down. The Turkey was great. Juicy, flavorful, smoky, and took to sauce quite well. The Pork and Sausage were less noteworthy, but also good. The Turkey was worth eating alone. Both of the sides were also fine. Maybe not otherworldly, but absolutely acceptable. City Barbeque has a number of sauces, and intentionally kept their meats unsauced for this purpose. Their standard BBQ, Mustard sauce, and Angry Blackberry sauces were all great, the last one being the most interesting of the lot. You have to add your own sauces here, but at least the ones they have are very good. Overall? I'll be back. I was surprised to find out this is a chain restaurant. While I'd say the brisket was overall kind of middling, the variety of sauces and the other meats being damn good make this a solid 5 star for me. read more

It was worth the wait... it took awhile to get our ordered placed due to the long line. Once ordered it took about 15 minutes to get our food. We ordered City Sampler since it was our first time here. The smell inside is fantastic. Made me more hungry than I already was :-) The chicken was so moist and the pulled pork was my favorite. The fries were hand cut and plentiful. My hubby loved the green beans with bacon. (See picture) The brisket was dry and overcooked. Probably the least favorite thing on our platter. I seriously love this place for so many reasons. The Bourbon Sauce, chopped pork, chicken tenders, the staff - especially Anthony, the slaw, ribs and the BANANA PUDDING. They offer a kids menu with smaller portions and sides.... perfect for me. The brisket is delicious but a bit too salty for me. I finally tried City BBQ. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Also had outdoor dining. The service for a BBQ restaurant was a four. Because it was busy and the Manager and staff worked hard to keep the guests informed of what they had and what they did not. No panic, but sincerely trying to accommodate the customers. And I believe they did. However, the food was very disappointing. I had the 18hour Brisket . Not hot and very tough. The outside had some flavor, but really??? I didn't even finish it. The beans were what gave them my high score of two. My brother had the pulled pork and fell short of his expectations , it was better than the brisket. He had corn pudding, what? New favorite BBQ spot! So I tried this place about a week and a half after they opened and I have only good things to say! The atmosphere was great and very fun. I ordered Lo Lo's pulled pork sandwich and it was fantastic. The meat on the sandwich was definitely authentic bbq without the super thinly pulled pork or the super sweet sauces. This place is a bit pricey as sides are an additional cost to many of the entree options, but for $21 I got enough food to eat on twice. When you think of that way; not too bad. I won't be coming back here. The last three times I've placed an order here I had issues. Today I placed and paid for an online order. I was told the estimated time it would be ready was 30-35 minutes. As I'm pulling into the parking lot 40 minutes later, I received a phone call advising that they were out of both of the two meats I ordered and that they only have Turkey and sausage available. Not even so much as a apology or all of the inconvenience I experienced even after complaining that this was my third consecutive bad experience. This City Barbeque location has been a nearly monthly favorite in my household. From their open house a couple winters ago until now, in house the service is great and so is the energy in the place. Service is perfect. When ordering through delivery apps, they wrap the food well to keep it as warm and fresh as possible and the portions are just as great. The first impression smell was a good sign. Brisket was very good, bark was tasty but maybe a touch more fat to keep the slices from being dry. The Pork was really dry with just a hint of smoky flavor - with sauce was just ok. Very pleased with the original sauce though. Nice after flavor. The Mac n cheese, the collards, and that fat piece of bread was on point! And OMG that okra was almost as good as my mom's which is saying something for me. The portion for the cost is a very good value. I was full and had left overs. Had no room for the peach cobbler but it looked delicious. Actual score closer to 4.5 out of 5. Food was very good. My hubby and I shared the Judge's Sampler with plenty leftover for lunch the next day. I liked the mustard based sauce and my hubby liked the swine wine vinegar based sauce. The sampler had half a chicken, brisket, pulled pork and ribs. All the meats were flavorful and most importantly (to me anyway) moist. Nothing worse than dry BBQ meat. The chicken really picked up the smoke flavor. We had greens and coleslaw for our sides. When they say pulled pork is in the greens, they mean it. It's not just sprinkled in there. It's visible. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? Complete disorganization with order preparation. It was chaotic, with staff squeezing around each other, trays being shuffled around. Never again. first attempt to order from the Sandy Springs location, they left out part of my order. They wanted me to drive back and pick it up. Not convenient in rush hour traffic. I asked them to refund me the money for that item, they said they couldn't refund me and after a lot of complaining I was refunded the money but not without extreme difficulty. second try this week, ordered over the phone, forced to pay in advance again, only to find out when I arrived that the one of the meat selections in my double meat order was not available. I ordered the double meat option. brisket and pulled pork. When I arrived to pick it up they told me they didn't have brisket. (Remember I had to pay over the phone when I ordered.) They gave me pulled pork instead of brisket. Now I had two orders of pork. If they had been honest and let me know when I placed the order that they did not have brisket, I would have just ordered one serving of pork which was less expensive. Pleasantly surprised with the food from City Barbeque! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich to be delivered and they mistakenly sent me a whole family meal so we got to try everything. Let's start with the chicken. Extremely flavorful and juicy. Very well seasoned. A great choice. The ribs were also very good. Tender and tasty! The collards (they have poke in them - it says this on the menu so there's no confusion) are very good and I would recommended. Mac and cheese is very cheesy and has food flavor. I prefer baked Mac and cheese, but others in my house enjoyed this version. Potato salad is a good base, but did need some additional seasoning. Corn bread is homemade and a must add to any order from here. All in all I would recommend City Barbeque to all of my friends. They won a repeat customer out of me. read more

I got a chicken tender sandwich instead of a normal chicken sandwich... Don't know how that worked out... I ended up having to put Polynesian sauce from Chick-fil-A On my sandwich because the chicken was dry. The sides weren't anything special... they were probably sitting in their containers for a while before being shoved in the bag. $15 was fairly priced but being the quality of food lacked I would take it down to $10. I was an active Certified BBQ Judge (CBJ). I cook for the people and not for a judged contest. The beef brisket only taste like salt. If that's the flavor profile you are trying to achieve you are a 10. The flavor profile for the ribs taste like ordinary seasoning salt. Overall this restaurant was below average. As I look at my previous review from two years ago its proof that I gave them many chances...but I'm over it. Unfortunately, after giving many chances I have to say, I will never order takeout from this location again. The quality of food is not consistent at all. Sometimes it's delicious. One day you may get 4 chicken tenders, the next time 3. One day you're chicken tenders may be huge, the next time tiny. You're food may be cold. It may be hot. They need quality control. End of story. Every single time (at least a dozen times) something is wrong with our take out order. My most recent experience was a very cold, maybe not fully cooked, chicken sandwich. I can see City BBQ from my upstairs window...this wasn't because of travel time. It simply wasn't hot. They did refund the purchase when I called, but the inconsistency makes it hard to want to go back. However, the other food in our order was perfect and delicious...like we loved it! But every time we order take out we are worried about what we will get! At the end of the day - when the food is cooked properly - its delicious. We have learned over time it's best to just eat in store. Takeout orders are where the fail miserably. read more

Food has always been good but question why some had no mask, one employee wearing mask as a chin guard, two employees without mask, and two nasal pharynx's exposed back at cooking and packaging of food. I'll start with the efficient service and fantastic food. The meat is flavorful and juicy; the fries crispy and well salted; the peach cobbler isn't sickly sweet and the texture is spot on; the beans and brisket are a huge stand out; the Mac & cheese is seasoned very well; the assortment of sauces are quite diverse and really compliment the meat. The customer service has been nothing short of friendly and helpful. The only reason I'm not raving about it more is because they do such a great job with preparing the food and getting it to the customers that frankly, you shouldn't interact much with the staff after picking up the food. This would be a five-star review were it not for the blackberry BBQ sauce that is no longer available (apparently it's seasonal). That is sauce is f*cking incredible!!
