Greg, the manager, helped me with the state inspection of my car. He was polite and respectful. The garage was fairly busy for a Monday (every space in the garage had a car in the spot). The wait was a little long, but not bad (it could have gone probably 5-10 minutes faster). I also noticed that the little rush of customers (and a delivery person) that came in after me had to wait at the front desk for a couple of minutes before someone came in to help them from the garage. They did take care of my car, though, and didn't say that I needed anything else, which was good. I also appreciate that Greg told me that renewing my car registration online saves $1 and assures me that I would receive my sticker quicker. My Lexus was sitting for 2 years and was having starting issues. I gave up on it for awhile because another mechanic pretty much scammed me for some money claiming he fixed it. I finally take it to City Garage and Josh & his team had my car turned around in literally 24 hours. It runs like new and it feels so good to drive. Pricing was also fair. In fact, I also tacked on a fluid/oil change. If you're hesitant to bring your car here, you shouldn't. Josh was very responsive & always there to address my concerns. I was quoted $10-$12,000 for a new engine which apparently I was told I needed. Took my jeep to another place and turns out I didn't need a new engine at all. Repair was $5000. Watch out as this place has either incompetent or dishonest mechanics. read more

I used to like these guys. I took my 2016 f150 in for a transmission issue. A week later after not hearing from them I called them. They said it would be $11,500 for a new transmission and a new catalytic converter. $3000 for converter and $8500 for the transmission. Of course I declined and took to another shop. The transmission was rebuilt for $4700 and there are no signs of needing a catalytic converter. The truck runs great now. So I saved about $7000 going somewhere else. read more

Great place for oil change and inspection. The quality is great but I would surely take second advice on other services. The value for their services are little higher compared to other mechanic shops but I only use brake plus for oil change and inspection. Well I sure wish I had read these reviews first. Only after I received a call after they had had my Yukon for 5 hours and they said it hopefully should be finished today before closing, but that's under investigation, also that they broke a part so my total price increased. I went in for a brake change that should've been around 300, ended up with 4 new rotors and alignment $1000, plus they said the squeaking was due to some other bearing issue and hub assembly another 1000, so $2200, and now they broke a caliper clamp and I'm gonna owe another 100$. I was not suspicious at first but after reading about all the dishonesty and people getting second quotes and cutting their costs in half or finding out they only needing a small portion of work done instead of the long list of "vital" things brakes plus said had to be done, I just shook my head. I'm 4 weeks from Christmas and got hustled into spending a huge amount of money when all I wanted a brake change. Oh and they wanted me to get my struts and shocks changed... I didn't even ask the price just said I'd do it in the new year. I will be going somewhere else and always always getting a second opinion. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because ultimately I should've walked away and done my due diligence. What a nightmare! read more

They just want money $100 for diagnosing most things that are simple. Staff and mechanics have a bad attitude, snarky remarks, and always have sarcastic response to simple questions. Walked in to do an inspection, alignment, and oil change and Brock was there and got to me quickly their were maybe 2-3 people inside it felt fast and efficient. The place was clean and organized. (About 5 mins later) Anthony helped me get my inspection done. He was really thorough with his analysis and made sure I was safe to be on the road. (Took about 20 mins) Once Anthony was done, Albert helped me get my alignment and oil change started he was really good at showing me what to keep an eye on and being as detailed as possible. (Only took 45 mins) This is a really good shop with really good people. No runarounds, no upsets, just good quality service. read more

So my car had been breaking down over and over as it would shut down at a red light or whenever my car was sitting idle. The first time I took my car to the shop I paid a pretty hefty price, just for the problem to still exist with my car shutting off while I was driving. They asked me to bring it back and it turned out that the problem with my crank shaft sensor, which looks like that has fixed everything on my car after this was fixed. The employees here were very patient and was able to explain to me that although all of the problems causing my check engine light to turn on at the first time were fixed the underlying issue was the crankshaft sensor. I am happy that they were able to get to the bottom of the issue to where I am no longer having issues with my car. I never have a problem with city garage and I will always bring my car here in case something happens again, and I hope it won't! read more

Have been multiple times and always treated with great service and respect. Had a fairly large issue with a door that handle broke and ended up being due to a lock issue. This place is terrible. Went there because they were the only garage open on a Saturday. They kept my car allday and failed to diagnose what should have been a simple problem. So had to take it elsewhere (Christian Brothers) to get the problem fixed. The guy at the front desk was also rude. Their prices are ridiculous too. Have no idea how they stay in business. read more

I ended up heading to City Garage a month or so ago when my battery crapped out on a cold Saturday morning. The service was ok, but I feel that the prices for a new battery/labor was a little high. The service desk manager was new, and liked to chat, and by chat, he never stopped talking the entire time I was there. I felt like he was trying to impress me with his awesome car knowledge. The rear passenger window of my wife's car wouldn't roll up, so we stopped by this place. I had made an online appointment a few days earlier, but it didn't seem like they realized it (I hadn't received a call or anything and they were confused when I mentioned it), so that was a small hiccup. But they took my car in and got to work right away. It turns out it needed a new regulator/motor (expensive) and the total would be $480 or so. Can't really afford that, so I asked if they could somehow prop the window up (I don't care if it goes up and down since it's in the back). They said they'd try, so when I picked it up later, I was pleasantly surprised that they were successful and my bill was only $53. So! It's refreshing to find an auto place that isn't obsessed with the bottom line. While I would have liked the guy who dealt with me (the owner I think) to have been a little friendlier, it was a good experience and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

My wife had a flat tire. She went here because it was close and they sold her some ultra shitty Chinese made tires. The tires lost their tread after 15k miles. Tire blew out at 19k miles even after and alignment. They sold them at a high price. I called back to get a warranty and they required that we tow the vehicle back to them, provide proof of tire rotation every 5k miles, and get the new tires there. I do not trust this place and their guys are rude. Stay away!! read more

I asked to see a print out of the estimate of services and had to wait twenty minutes to get and it stated the total was 650. Horrible, why in the world AAA routes people here is beyond my understanding. My sons car was towed here after he blew a tire and he was told it would take 4 days to get a tire, that is just idiotic, I could have walked to Irving and rolled a tire back there in that amount of time. Not to mention the employees were arguing in front of customers and one of them quit and announced to everyone they shouldnt do business with these folks, not too worry I wont!! And, I will let AAA know that sending customers to a location who cant replace a tire in a reasonable amount of time reflects poorly on them as well! read more

You'll get a lot of information, but remember that it's a sales pitch. I went in for a quote on a brake job and state inspection and was told that low power steering fluid (possibily indicating a leak) would cause me to fail inspection. So in the end I was quoted a total of $600+. The estimate for the brake job itself was around $384. Instead, I ended up spending only $298 at Candrell Car Care in Carrollton which is closer to the RepairPal.com estimate of $220-$270 for brakes on a 2005 Honda Civic here in DFW. I also passed my safety inspection despite the power steering fluid issue. read more

I used this garage because it was one of the options when I ordered a tire from Tire rack. I had it delivered there because they are a AAA location. The day before the tire was scheduled to arrive I called to ask what the process was. I found Josh to be rather nonchalant about the whole thing and he just told me they would call me when it arrives. I received the text message the next morning that it was delivered by the courrier but I never received a call so I called late in the day. This time, Josh told me to just come in any time so I told him I'd be there at 7am the next morning. I didn't find the customer service very good at first because I was expecting a call and expected to make an appointment. However when they started the work they pulled me in and showed me that their tire changing equipment was dated and that it would probably damage the rim because of the type of tire I am using. They said that I would be better off going to a shop that specialized in tires. I really appreciated their honesty and consideration because I have expensive rims on my new BMW. read more

Horrible experience. Stayed in the area and my catalytic converters were cut out from under my truck. I called this location and was told they could get my vehicle fixed the same day. I wound up staying three nights in a hotel and then rented a car and drove home. Rich called me and stated that everything was fixed. I asked if they were sure as I had a 4 hour drive back to the location and did not want to stay in a hotel again. When I was a hour out Rich called again stating there was an issue, but they would have it resolved by the time I arrived. When I arrived it was 10 minutes before closing. I paid $4800 as they replaced (2) catalytic converters, (4) sensors and the computer in my truck as they claimed it burned up certain ports. This shop replaced these parts with after market materials instead of Toyota parts. I got exactly 100 miles from the location and the check engine light came on. The next day I took it to my local mechanic and we hooked it up to the computer. It was giving codes 401, 402 and 1604, but the most important piece was the computer was brand new and these codes were in the history. I called the shop and spoke to Josh and stated that you guys knowingly reset the codes that you were having trouble with all week. He claimed they would not do that, then I stated then you did not replace the computer as these codes were in the history log. He then admitted that they did reset the codes knowing they would come on again. The head mechanic, "Ace", stated the could do this earlier in the week so I could get back home and have it fixed there, but I replied that you charging me $4800 for a band aid so that I could go pay more money else where to get it fixed properly. Now six months later my vehicle was finally repaired properly after getting their insurance company involved and putting the correct parts on the vehicle. read more

DOESN'T HONOR WARRANTY ON THEIR REPAIR WORK! On 9/3/2018, I was forced to have to take my car back (third time) because I am still having an issue with the brake service (front/rear brakes and rotor replacement) that they previously provided. Brakes are constantly squealing when stopping and backing up. This service is still under a two year warranty which they are refusing to honor. The technician that looked at and test drove my car swore that he didn't hear anything. And, in all honestly, I didn't really expect him to, if you're deaf! He was good at reading lips but couldn't hear at all. (Not discriminating against deaf or hard of hearing, my sister was deaf!). Merely stating a fact because the only way that you can't hear my brakes squealing like a pig headed for slaughter, is, that you are hard of hearing because everyone else can hear it but City Garage. This place is where hardworking and honest people should NOT DO BUSINESS WITH OR PATRONIZE. If you're into lies, price gouging, rude/lousy/argumentative customer service and totally being taken advantage of when looking for car repair service, then, you've come to the right place. It's what City Garage in Coppell, TX is all about. But, if you're expecting any other decent care repair service with decent and fair prices, you definitely need to look else where because this is not the place. Yeah, there are 5-star ratings about this place from the privileged few but the true stories about this place like the ones written by Daunte W., Jennifer P., Matthew M, Jaci V., Steven N., E.G. Katie G., Ann W., Sam A. and Scott J. just for starters should be reviewed and taken seriously because it shows the true type of services that you will receive from this City Garage location. It all started with my car dying at the mailbox. I live right across the street from this location and on Saturday night...my car died. Sunday - I called over to them to make sure they were open and asked if they had a tow truck -that I was literally right across the street and needed some help. Ok- the guy I spoke to was really nice and actually sent one of the mechanics over and he tried to get my car started - but to no avail -so I had to call my Roadside Assistance...but before he left - he told me it was my starter. So, I wait for the tow truck and he comes... he hitches my car on and literally we just crossed the street into the parking lot of City Garage. I sign the paper work which tells me -I am going to pay $515 dollars for a new starter. So, I walk across the street and then I get a call and they tell me its not my starter but my battery and one of the wires. So, they tell me I am saving some money and my car is pretty much ready. Okay -so far I was really excited and happy with this company --until now. So, I go get my car and I pay them $300 dollars for a battery and labor. Which I thought was a little outrageous but I was willing to pay for it - mind you -they had my car for less than an hour!!! So, I pay and then I get in my car..as soon as I turn my car on - the brake light and ABS light come on. So, I tell the mechanic that it is on.. and he looks at it - I turn my car off and restart it again - same lights come on. He looks at my wheels and tells me -that I can drive off like that and its not going to effect my brakes and if I wanted I could bring it back the next day. At this point - I am sort of confused because I didn't come in with an ABS light on and Brake light on - I came in with a dead battery. So, I leave and I call them and I get this lady on Monday who was very rude and pretty much told me -that them changing the battery could not possible turn the ABS light on and I am like I didn't have this problem before you guys! So, I called again and spoke to a man and he actually sat there argueing with me about my car and told me -well, we don't know if the abs light and brake light were on before your car died and I said it wasn't and he was like we'll we don't know that and I said I am telling you that. I said anytime my car has issues-I immediately take it in... I said the point is -I just need you to look at my car and fix the problem. So I take myself back over to City Garage and I sit there and wait as they hook my car up to some machine and they come back and pretty much tell me they don't know whats wrong with my car cause their machine can not read the codes. So, they referred me to a Chrysler dealership and then had the nerve to tell me that once the Chrysler dealership reads the codes that I should bring my car back to them for them to fix the issue. I will never go back to them unless for some strange reason I am forced to go. I will not tolerate them treating me like I do not know anything just because I am a woman and that's exactly how they made me feel. And then for them to be rude and the guy actually sit on the phone and argue with me... it was ridiculous!! read more
