I called and talked to the GM Forest who could care less that his staff committed fraud. "I don't think it was malicious" followed by explaining how the machine works for tips. City Kitchen is my go to spot for happy hour, friend in town, or after work dinner. They have a ton of variety, ample parking in the Bakery Square garage, service is fast and friendly, and you own your own timelines with the scan to order menus (a good thing, since there is so much to choose from). This is a great spot for folks who have a wide variety of dietary needs because there are so many options. The outdoor dining options are also perfect, especially during seasons with big games. The downsides, the prices are steep on food (though portions are decent and drinks are very reasonable), they don't always have every item that appears to be on the menu, and the food itself though good, really isn't great. That being said, it really is an overall total package, and I do recommend! read more

This was my first visit to the space since it became City Kitchen. The customer experience is the same as are some of the current restaurants. As I went for brunch after yoga in The Portal ended at 11:30, there wasn't a queue so instead of self-ordering conveniently from the table, I placed my order quicker at the Charred counter. There are two brunch menus, Eastern and Western. There was a Fall cocktail specials menu at the table. On the big yard screen and inside televisions was the College Football MAC Championship game. City Kitchen has taken over the space formerly owned by Galley Bakery Square. The layout is the same as the former. There is a full bar and 4 concept restaurants. Returning from Galley Bakery Square are Elevate and Somi. New to the concepts are Shaka which was formerly in Federal Galley and Charred-reviewed separately. My son and I came here to check out the place and try out some of the new offerings. I was about to order from Elevate but when I saw the salmon burger over at Charred, I knew I had to go with that. He decided to go with Somi where he had a bimibap and Korean noodle stir fry. Somi is also serving a couple of items from the former Banhmilicious that was in the former Smallman Galley years ago. This concept has a good variety of both vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free items and my son thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Ordering is a bit different here now. You must have a table so you can give them your table number before you place your order. This is in order that they can serve it to you. Cash and cards are accepted at all 4 of the concepts with you have to pay the credit card fee if you pay that way. As with the galleys before this place is pricey! However, you are paying for chef's work so keep that in mind. They have stations where you can get a bottle of water as well as condiments, utensils, and drink accessories. When you are finished with your meal an employeed will come and clear the table for you. City Kitchen faces an indoor alcove opposite AVP pizzeria and Jeni's ice cream. Two hour free garage parking is available during daylight hours. I enjoyed my lunch at Charred and am looking forward to returning to trying out the other concepts on a future visit. We've enjoyed coming here since it was the Galley at Bakery Square. It's a really nice space with tons of seating, great restaurants and a great bar. We've tried almost all the restaurants and they offer great food. So I is by far my favorite. Nothing beats their bulgogi egg rolls and bowls. They are a bit pricey but it makes for a fun night out. My husband and I have had some date nights and have come for trivia. The bar is great too makes awesome drinks. They have great happy hour specials. The people who take care of the place and bring you your food are very nice, make you feel welcome and well taken care of. They are training their front of house right. I also love you can order at the tables. It's a fun spot for a night out. read more

Excellent lunch recently at this Bakery Square "food court." Lovely casual atmosphere, fantastic food, and easy, no-contact ordering system. You simply choose a table, use the QR code on the table to order, and boom - in no time, your food is at the table. There was also a super friendly young woman who greeted us & made sure we knew how the whole shebang works. Now - the best part - the food! Husband got Tom Kha w/ chicken - a super flavorful Thai lime coconut curry broth chock full of fresh veggies --- all w/ a fluffy jasmine rice. YUM! And I got a fantastic Shaka pole bowl w/ half rice, half greens and some seriously good pickled veg which were a gorgeous purple against all the bright green in the bowl. I topped mine with sashimi salmon which had some kind of incredibly tasty spice. SO SO good. We couldn't pick a fave. Could not recommend this more highly - all of it. Food is amazing- a great place to go with a group, everyone can order from whichever restaurant they like, whatever drinks they like, and the tabs are automatically split appropriately ordering from your phone! Parking is close and free for up to 2 hrs in their garage. The spot is great, large area without being too crowded to other tables, and both indoor and outdoor seating. Ambience is nice, food tastes good. Unfortunately both of our orders were wrong, took a very long time to get one of the two items, and some of the staff were not very helpful or nice. The manager made a very strong effort to apologize, gave us free dessert, and did not charge us for one of the meals. It was a very nice gesture and I'm grateful for his apology. That said, we probably will not return anytime soon, as the overall experience was a bit difficult. read more

Good as a matter of fact, definitely fantastic! Choices, a ton. Just know that if you're not up to change on the way you're served, this may not be for you. You order from a QR code, 4 great places to choose from (think Smallman or Federal Galley) plenty of options. DO KNOW that once a person at the table submits their order, they're on it so if you have a person who likes to peruse all options and takes their time to view all choices (like me), then you will be eating at different times. My son, ate his dinner well before ours. We will know next time to push "send" in concert as to eat together. If you can get over that or order at the "same time", then go for it! read more

Parking is available, but limited. Parking garage is available but who wants to do that. Space is dynamic and nice. You can sit in the main area where the restaurants are, upstairs, outside in a heated tent or in an atrium on the other side. I tried the $10 Korean fries from Somi. Expensive, not very big, and did not taste that good. Also, we got the buffalo cauliflower from elevate. $15 for some air fryer, bagged frozen appetizer that is not good...we couldn't eat it. Then, I got the vegan pho from Somi as well. Super bland, almost all noodles and did not appear to come with the extra vegetables I paid for. I really don't understand the request for a tip when paying upfront for food and service you have yet to experience. I don't personally care for ordering food from a QR code on the table, but I guess it has some benefits. Personally, I would rather have an actual waiter. This is one of those places where they think you want to be responsible for doing the ordering via your phone and running your own food. So high tech! That concept wears thin pretty quick for diners. At least for us. there is table service though if you wait. Server ordered me the wrong food and it came 15 minutes after my lunch partner had been served. Thats always akward. buiscuit underbaked, like a dough ball. no jelly even. Sent the biscuit back! Lol. No refills on coffee or iced tea. Then they want 25% as lowest suggested tip. This is a difficult place to eat if you have food allergies or intolerances. You need to order your food on your phone but the menu on your phone will list some items as gluten free that the paper menu on your table will say are not gluten free--and vice versa. Meanwhile, when you finalize your order on your phone, there is no place in the order to note that the food needs to be gluten free. You can flag down a cashier at one of the checkouts and have them order for you, but they don't seem knowledgeable about food intolerances (one cashier repeatedly warned me not to get the tofu because she didn't think it was gluten free). I have been here twice and both times my order has come out incorrectly. Because there's no table service, you then have to flag down someone to let them know your order is incorrect. I'm not likely to eat here again for the reasons mapped out above. read more

My order sweet and spicy noodles was neither. No real flavor but rubbery mushrooms and very little vegetable which was a fine shred made it not good I was hungry so I ate it Another order was chicken pot pie.
