I mainly bookmarked this place for my vacation because I saw previous Yelp pictures showing snow crab leg entrees. I had the snow crab leg dinner with my side being the corn on the cob. Of course I had them season everything with Old Bay; no reason to eat any of it without the Old Bay! Yes it is pricey but well worth it. Extremely generous quantity of snow crab legs and they were steamed to perfection. Beyond easy to pull out the meat from the shell. They also had one of the best Miami Vice slushy drinks I have every had. Must stronger than most places I have ordered this drink from. All I wanted for my vacation was to order a Miami Vice while in South Beach and this place delivered. Only place I ever saw add the side-car shot to the drink. Our server was great and very informative. Made it known right away that gratuity is always automatically added. Not something I usually am okay with (especially because there was only 2 of us), but she did tell us even before we ordered anything which gave us an opportunity to bail if we really wanted to. The food was actually amazing. It wasn't Houston seafood with the sauce and potatoes but it was still very tasty and full of flavor. The crab legs were cooked perfectly, the sauce the shrimp sat in was full of flavor, and the crab cake was perfect. The presentation was great and they had drinks! The drinks were super tasty, really affordable, and even had souvenir cups. The waitress could have been more attentive but she made the delicious drinks so I'm not going to hold it against her. So once you swim up an appetite at the beach they can help with the seafood craving . The crab legs are good and so is the corn . I've had the shrimp po boy and crab cakes also . I stayed in the hotel that was directly above this eatery, so when my Sis said she wanted Seafood, I suggested this place. Initially we asked to be seated inside because it was a little chilly outside. We were seated a few tables from a party of about 15 people. OMG! They were so loud we could barely hear each other from across the table. Then more people showed up and that party got out of control, so we asked to be seated outside next to one of their heaters. I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but my meal included crab legs, scallops and lobster tail w/hush puppies. Sooooooo good. My Sister got the shrimp linguini and it too was delicious. Since I had an early flight the next day, I didn't get liqour, but my Sister got a pina colada and loved it. Our waiter was cool and very accomodating. The manager came and checked on us also and apologized for the noise level inside. I am looking forward to returning to this restaurant during my next trip to Miami. read more

After our mediocre Cuban we decided it was time for some seafood. CJ's Crab Shack came up on Yelp! and was close to where we were wandering on Ocean Drive. So we settled in for what we hoped would be a delicious meal. For starters we grabbed a margarita for me and a mojito for Scott. They were $10 each, which is steep, but we knew where we were and had already been paying about that much since we arrived. To start we also ordered two appetizers: clams and drunken shrimp. There appeared to be some sort of mix up because we never received the clams, but we got two orders of the shrimp- fortunately they tasted delicious. Buttery, fatty and garlicy. Could I ask for anything more? For entrees we followed it up with blackened mahi with a side of hush puppies and corn on the cob (for me!) and fish and chips (for him, but we share). I didn't get a good photo of mine unfortunately (we'd been doing a hell of a lot of drinking over the weekend). It tasted good. The winning dish though was the fish and chips. Scott made the right choice and we devoured everything on the table. To finish off we had some key lime pie. It was good, but to me when you start adding sauces and soaking the crust in...well...something (I couldn't tell what, but it was was too sugary). I like my desserts tart and unadorned for the most part. But thankfully they didn't dye it green or do anything equally as cheesey. Overall the food was a definite 4-star. We sat outside and I didn't look inside, but the sidewalk seating was great. People watching was fun and the weather was beautiful. Service? Meh. Like I said with the appetizers, she missed the one, brought two of the other one. She never asked if we wanted a second drink, was somewhat inattentive and distant, but we didn't really care. The real kicker though? We got the bill. Now, I know. Two drinks, two apps, two entrees and one dessert. It adds up fast. But let me show you exactly how it added up. Make sure you're sitting down for this. $120!!! ...THAT'S CRAZY! Am I right? I mean day-um. Either way, the food was pretty damn good. This is the first place we stopped by for lunch during our South Beach Vacation. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday afternoon. There was only one or two other tables seated besides ours. The place also appear to be slightly under construction as we kept hearing drilling noises during our meal. One tip, if you get seated in the area with the couches, sit in a regular chair, the couches dip down so low, you feel like your plate is up to your chin. With all that said, the meal was pretty damn good. We started out with the raw oysters, which were on the small side, but still tasty. I also tried their seafood pasta which I tore to pieces in about 10 minutes. I would definitely go back, just for the food.
