Over the last year, I have had the chance of dining at Clarkies on various occasions with family, friends , & colleagues for breakfast & brunch. On each occasion we have had a good time filled with good conversations & good food. The establishment is family owned & is family friendly. Having moved into the area we definitely enjoy supporting our local businesses especially Clarkies. Recently, I had the chance of stopping by with my brother as I treated him out after his graduate school exams. My brother & I both ordered the Spanish Scrambler with extra jalapeño peppers with sliced avocados on the side. We both had a good time catching up & very much enjoyed our breakfast including once again ordering the amazing, buttery sweet, & delicious Cinnamon Streusel Muffins! My mom and dad like to come here for breakfast so I thought I'd give it a shot when a friend asked if I wanted to go out for a breakfast date. While I do enjoy it from time to time, I am not a huge breakfast fan and if I can get a lunch option I will usually go for that. This time was no different, even though we went at 930am! When we arrived the wait was considerable, but not terrible. Be prepared because parking here sucks! I happened to luck out as a couple was leaving right as I pulled in and I got their spot right up front, so I really can't complain! My friend however, had to park a ways down the street. When we were seated I was delighted to see that I could order lunch. I went with the ham and Swiss melt and oh man it was one of the best decisions of my life! The parmesean crusted bread was worth the five stars alone! The whole sandwich was very tasty and the 1000 island dressing was a perfect touch. I wish I had a picture to share, but I devoured it before I remembered to snap one! My little one had French toast and I snagged a bite and was not disappointed. After moving to Yucaipa, Clarkies has been the go to breakfast place for my family! Typically the restaurant is busy on the weekends, but we went on a rainy Martin Luther King Monday and we're able to be seated in less than 15 minutes!! Hands down some of my favorite things are the Biscuits & Gravy and Cinnamon Streusel. I have a Gluten sensitivity so I am selective with my gluten dishes. So when I go to Clarkies, you know all that goes out the window . We ordered the chili verde scrambler with biscuits and gravy today. Perfect to share! We came here based on a review for gluten free muffins. Just to clarify, they do NOT have gluten free muffins! They do have gluten free bread for toast or sandwhiches, but the other reviews are incorrect. The staff here is very friendly, and a few of them quite outgoing (in a good way!). The inside is a little dark, but they had some cute decorations up. The food is rather basic diner grub, which is all we were looking for. They have several scrambles, but not one that any of us were particularly interested in trying. This is definitely a hidden local spot. read more

It's been awhile since I've been back and I'm so happy I returned. Today everything was clicking, service was fantastic, our server Amber was chipper and on top of our every need. Our burgers were delicious, so much so that my friend who RARELY ever raves about burgers and even more rarely finishes her food, ate the entire thing! I loved the setup inside. A clean and roomy restaurant with great decor make for a really welcoming ambiance. The food was fresh looking and tasting with generous portions. The cinnamon streusel muffin was delicious so plan for that to be a single serving portion :). We came here on a Tuesday for lunch at 1230. We managed to get a seat for 7 of us but they seem pretty busy. My in laws love this place and it's my first time. My father in law loves the cinnamon stuesal muffin. We got 3 to go. I tried it at the restaurant but the butter was cold so I took it home and microwaved it like the owner said. There's so much butter on it that it didn't quite melt but the muffin was soft inside and quite good. The cinnamon streusal on top was clumped in places. I did not think it was worth $5.25. The waitress was OK while taking our order. Before and after this, we didn't see her much. She brought my son his soda and threw the straw. She never checked on us. I saw her being attentive to other tables. I think it was just us. Anyway, everyone else around, like the bus boy came and checked on us. But because of her, I would give this place 3 stars. Also, my daughters grilled cheese came out with a pool of oil. I took a picture of it. It was not ok. One thing I will say is they gave a good portion of onion rings. They were a bit overcooked though. I feel that the prices here can be a bit high but I understand prices are high for food these days. I probably will not come back here. read more

I stopped here yesterday to get takeout for lunch. I called to order and someone immediately picked up and took my order. They said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and the food was ready waiting for me. The staff were super friendly and genuine. On my way inside, it seemed like they were abiding by covid guidelines (outdoor seating, staff wearing masks, hand sanitizer available, bucket for used pens and newly sanitized pens etc). I paid at the counter and received my food super quickly. The prices were fair. The interior looked nice and homey--definitely a place that I would like to get some breakfast and dine in once covid is over. I got their Reuben sandwich with corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut on sourdough bread. I also had to try the cinnamon streusel muffin! I first took a bite of the cinnamon streusel muffin while it was hot because I had to compare it to other coffee cakes from local spots. OH. MY. GOD. This muffin melted in my mouth and was such a little gift from heaven!!! Definitely the best coffee cake that I have tasted in the inland empire. It was soft, warm, sweet, buttery, and perfectly balanced. The Reuben was delicious! The corned beef was tender, flavorful, and lean. The sauerkraut was fresh. All in all, an excellent Reuben. I got the cup of soup for my side which was delicious! It was a beef stew and super flavorful. Overall, delicious food, friendly staff, fair prices, homey ambiance, and fast service.
