My daughter's car was idling loud, hard to accelerate and the check engine light was on. I went to other places and was told nothing was wrong to it needed a new catalytic converter and muffler($2,500). The folks at Clark's Car Care did the diagnostics by the book and found multiple leaks in the exhaust system which they repaired for $250. They walked me through the whole process showed me what was wrong and how it would be repaired. The vibe their was they wanted to do a good job and cared. What do you think of an auto repair shop that spends less than 1.5 hours working on a car and somehow charges $297.50 for labor when their labor charge is $119/hr?? You'd put them in the shyster/crook category most likely. Throw in the fact they pulled this on a woman there by herself and suddenly the family run shop starts looking more and more like the typical place you want to avoid. This is what happened when my girlfriend was there to have an exhaust rattle fixed. She was there, at the location, for approx 2 hours and they worked on her car for much less time than that, 1.5 hrs would be very generous. She says they actually worked on her car closer to 1 hour. Their $297.50 charge comes EXACTLY to 2.5 hrs of WORK even though she wasn't even at the facility that long let alone them working on her car. Plus this max of 1.5 hrs includes the inspection and estimate (which BTW they supposedly don't charge for). You'll see in the receipt that I'll post there was a whopping $19.95 in parts. So nearly $300 in labor charges to cut off old hardware and welds. OH, but the guy offered her $50 off even though she was gonna use the yelp deal, how nice of him!!! I took my 2004 Cadillac in for an oil change and they honored a coupon for $19 and I thought, great! So when I needed to take my daughter's car in for service they charged $85 just to inspect what I already told them was wrong with the car from a code the emissions place had given. They said it would take 3 hours of labor plus a part they "said" cost $350. All in all it cost over $900. I took it to another independent repair shop and they said the part costs $250 and labor to replace it was 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Also every shop I've called deducts the inspection fee if you get the work done with them. Clark's charged it on top of everything else. My college age daughter got ripped off and is now stuck with their outrageous bill. We do NOT recommend this shop. Not honest. read more

This place is by far one of the most professional car service stations I have ever been to. The folks here are friendly, honest, and kind. Recently I stopped in because I heard a rubber sound flapping under my car. I stopped by without an appointment and without hesitation, one of the gentlemen came from behind the desk, got in my car, listened to the sound and found a nail embedded in my tire. He told me the nail was in good position in my tire and gave great insight for mechanical repair options. There was no overselling involved! As an added plus the serviceman was personable and funny. He took the time to listen to my concerns and when he spoke, related to me to calm my nerves about the sound I heard under my car. As I waited in the waiting room I noticed how every time I come in how clean the waiting room is, how comfortable the couches are, and how there is always an array of beverages. I enjoyed a Vanilla Chai tea while I waited. As an even added bonus, the restroom is always clean as well. I first visited this place from recommendations on other reviewers on yelp. I always deal with Jason, he is amazing! they have great prices, they are fair, they know what they are doing and get the job done right the first time! I have unfortunately have had a lot of recent issues with my POS Ford Mustang, I love sports car and if I could afford a Lambo I would have one. Anyway I love the look of the mustang but the car is made by Ford which is the major issue! I had a major issue with some recalls Ford had to fix and they screwed up my car even more and couldn't figure out the issue for an entire month! yeah, that's how much Ford sucks!!! I have a 2018 Hyunda Tuscon, and when I went for the Emission Testing, my vehicle X2 was "Rejected". No one was able to explain to me why this was happening. The vehicle only has 28,000 miles, and it is very well maintained. When I went to Clark's Car Care, I spoke with Matt Weber who very eloquently explained to me what he thought was going on with the exhaust and computer system, and stated "unfortunately I've seen this problem before in the later model vehicles." Without hesitation, he offered me a loaner car, and said "it will probably take a day or so to run test, and drive the vehicle after hours." Matt always kept me well informed of the car's process, and the car was ready in less than 24 hours. Lastly, I did not need to return to the Emission Testing site, he had it done for me and presented me with the "PASSED" paper work. Everyone I met at the shop were very nice and professional. Summary: Respectable business, honest advice. I very much recommend. I've been using Clark's for almost 5 years. I have an older Honda Accord and a newer Honda Civic. They've taken care of both cars for me and I think they'll help me get that car to 200K miles. I'm really excited about that. The one thing I am going to gripe on is the hours. They are limited to business hours, M-F. So it's challenging to use them if you also have work business hours, M-F (as I do!). As a follow-up to the above: I was told in my detailed explanation following testing/diagnostics that I needed new brake pads because they were down to 10%. Little background info on me: I once had my muffler fall off and while staring at the rusted metal kidney on the ground said "What is that thing? Do I need it?" Thanks to Groupon I was able to find this place and get my oil changed and new wiper blades for $25! I was only 3000 miles over due date. They have an awesome waiting room with TVs, a massage chair, coffee, magazines other than Car and Driver, and comfy leather couches. I wish I would've gone in there first instead of deciding to go for a walk. It's in an industrial area and there is nothing around but a Starbucks. At checkout I was ready to hear the damage but pleased when I only had to pay the tax. It came to about $4. He explained to me some issues going on with my car in order of importance and didn't try to sell me anything. I am so used to the other oil change places where they try to sell me an air filter every damn time. I might have fallen for it last time but I know you just replaced that. That's the same dirty ass filter you show everyone... nice try. So I love the honestly and no nonsense policy this place shows even the most gullible of customers (me). I really like Clark's Car Care. It's very difficult finding a reliable place. I brought my car to have them replace all my front/rear rotors and brake pads. Over a year later, I have over 80% of the brakes still left which means they did a good job on the brakes. I've also had them do a 30,000 mile inspection a while back and the dealer initially told me it would be $650-700 to replace all these specific components. Clark's Car Care told me that it's ridiculous and they would check out the care and replace only what needs to be replaced. I saw a full report of the tests and only spent $150. Today I'm having them do the 60,000 mile check and it's only costing me $299 to get some coolant changes, filter changes, oil change, and some other minor stuff. We will never go any place else!!! Hubby and I moved to the area four years ago and were unsure where to take our cars. I checked yelp and saw the great reviews for Clarks so decided to give them a try. They're a small family business located beside the Rt 59 metra. Super honest and friendly people and they won't try to sell you something you don't need. I like that they give you detailed reports on the work they did and explain everything to you in laymans terms. We book our appointments online and they always call us back immediately to confirm. At one point my brakes were getting worn, but they told me not to worry, that they still had some life left in them and we could wait to have the work done. Another time I wanted a few minor cosmetic things fixed and they shopped around to get me the best price on parts. They also have a great warranty on the work they do. They are always able to take our cars in within a day or two and they are quick to get the work done. We usually just drop off our cars, but did notice they have a cozy waiting room. Once you find it (hidden way back off of North Aurora Road down Industrial Drive... keep going... keep going... ok turn left!), you'll be greeted at the desk, informed about your service (ask as many questions as you want, in the office area or right at - or even under! - your car), offered a seat & some popcorn/soda in the lounge, or even a ride if you've prebooked it. I've had a simple oil & filter change done (thorough yet inexpensive), as well as the "Car Spa Day," which included about 20 "scheduled maintenance" services, and even drove me to my house when I dropped the car off so I didn't have to wait for it! (They gave me the option of using a "loaner" as well.) Afterwards, I'm not only given a complete printed summary, but recommendations as well. I've had a great experience with them, as has my baby (my car), and I've always been 100% satisfied with the results. Made an online appointment request for a brake job at 9 thursday night....they called right at their opening time on friday and told me to bring my vehicle in. 3-4 hours later everything was done and even a little under the estimate (I'm sure being under the quoted cost is designed into their scheme...but so what...it made me happy). So far the repairs made are working great ...i.e. no more grindy noises in the rear brakes. The staff is friendly, polite, informative...the facility is clean...no high pressure tactics for additional items...the price was a bit less than what a couple of other places quoted...for automotive repairs and maintenance, I don't believe it gets much better than this. I came here because I was in the area and saw that Yelp had some great reviews on this place, and being a girl who would probably be swindled by most mechanics, I trusted Yelp and came out on top. My car's cigarette lighter wasn't working when I tried charging my GPS and my check engine light had come back on. I was trying to sell my car so I wanted to get these problems checked out. The guy looking at my car didn't play any games and said that the lighter was fine and that it was probably my charger that wasn't working. I totally explained to Joey the problem we were having with our vehicle. He called to say it was "done". However went to pick up the vehicle and the steering wheel was very shaky, my first impression was surely they test drove it? Brought it back and discussed the issue, they had the vehicle for another 2 to 3 days. During my conversation with Joey he seemed to get a little upset when I should have been the one upset because I have NEVER been to a auto place where they say your vehicle is ready and even a novice mechanic could tell there was still something wrong with it. Since I already paid over $1000 I reluctantly brought it back for them to continue to check out the problem. I mean if they screwed up the first time who wants them working on anything else. Joey tried but during our conversations it seemed more like they were guessing, saying "we will try the breaks" but of course I did not want to spend any more $ on a guess. They replaced a part for free as he put it "for customer satisfaction" however AGAIN the vehicle was still not fixed. UGH! I was not going to spend any more time, energy or $ dealing with Clarks. I was sorry to give them 1 star because I read most people were happy with them and they were mostly rated 5 stars, but they were NOT 5 stars for me. I would not recommend this garage to anyone and I really wanted it to work out since they were in my area. Since we took the vehicle to another place and first time around it works like it should. I recently moved to the Naperville, IL area not too long ago and have been looking into places to bring my car. I had not needed services of any kind yet but finally had to have at least an oil change done. They were fast and extremely courteous/helpful. It has what I'd almost call a luxurious waiting room area compared to other places I've been to over the years, with a leather couch, a free massage chair, and even toys and an video game system for children waiting with parents. They top it off with free soda and popcorn. Usually that and the massage chair would be nickle-and-dime type of stuff so it was surprising to me. They offer service discounts via an oil change club and digital coupons from places like Yelp and even their own website. You don't even need to print them out and can display them on a smart phone if you have one on hand with you. They have definitely earned a customer in me. read more

Without fail, their entire team has been accommodating, professional, kind and compassionate while providing second-to-none, high-quality services. I was recently in a very challenging situation 100 plus miles from home when my vehicle suddenly stopped running. I called over 5 repair shops and even attempted a dealership service center where I was stranded--while informing them all I wasn't local and needed my car looked at within a reasonable timeframe. Not one independent shop would even look at my car within a few days and the local dealership would not commit to even 20 minutes for a simple battery test within a week's time frame. I simply could not leave my car and rely on the whims of a dealership's timeline. I called Clark's and talked with Joey and Jason about my challenging situation. They immediately committed to getting my car looked at as soon as I could get it to them, despite the shop's busy schedule. To top it off, Jason went above and beyond to sort through my extended warranty situation and helped set me on a good path forward.
