Started bringing my Toyota here about 2 years ago for oil changes and other services. Fall 2017 I had an O2 sensor break that caused my emissions test to fail. I had Clark's do the work, and without being asked they took my vehicle over to the emissions place and had it re-tested, and it passed! It was especially great service right before a business trip. Clark's has a great staff who are always friendly and willing to take the time to explain work and costs. My roommate now uses them too, he had his transmission rebuilt in an old Impala. But Clark's Car Care was nice, helpful, and explained everything in layman's terms so that I could understand. I knew I had a winner when I went to them for an oil change, asked them to check my brakes (which they did for free) and they told me I still had some life left on them. Finally, a mechanic who is honest and not pushy! When I finally got my brakes done a year later, they worked around my schedule. My car actually stops without shaking now! Its been a while since I've gone to an auto repair shop because I like to make repairs on my own in my buddy's uncles shop but he recently sold his shop and moved to TN so I was stuck with a big job. I'm not a mechanic but I don't mind learning with a manual to get something done and his uncle usually helped me when I got stuck. I looked thru yelp for reviews and Clarks had great reviews so I checked them out for an estimate. I already knew my water pump and my radiator was leaking on my Lexus RX so I asked for an estimate to get those and all the belts and hoses replaced. I've done this work before on my Honda and it took me about 11 hrs and the parts alone were about $750 at NAPA so I knew it was going to run me around 1500+. The dealer wanted around $1780 so I made an appointment the next morning to visit Clarks. For an independent auto shop, they treat you better than a dealer. They had fresh popcorn, coffee, soda, bottled water, tv, nice lounge, and even a massage chair. Although I didn't use any of it...it was nice. I talked to Joey and told him the issue since I knew what was wrong. He is a good guy and communicated well and kept me informed of the status. Clarks agreed to do it for about $1550 and they would credit me back $35 for a rental car since it would probably take over a day. When I do my own repairs, I usually like to get OEM parts which are more expensive but they don't use OEM and would probably charge the same as the dealer if I asked them to. But they give you a 36,000 or 3 year warranty on their parts and service for any of their work so I was ok. This price was taking into account a 10% discount and another 3% if I paid by cash. It was a decent price so I gave them the ok. They have a great relationship with Enterprise so I got picked up from the shop to get my rental and I could also just drop off the rental back at the shop when I pick up my car. I was really surprised when I got a call around 4 later that same day from Joey saying my car was done. I told him to leave the keys in the car since I had a spare. I was supposed to give him cash but since they close earlier than I could arrive from work, he still gave me the same price and allowed me to charge it on my card. I got home late so i dropped off the rental car and I picked it up next early morning before I went to work. I was in a rush to get to work and everything ran fine. I didn't have time to check under the hood until Saturday. They did a good job, belts were new, hoses to radiator and radiator were new, I could tell they changed the pulleys and the water pump from under the car. I trust people but I still like to validate :). But I did notice my top engine cover was missing so I called on Monday morning and sure enough they still had it at their shop. I wonder if I didn't notice it if I would still have it...oh well it all worked out. I went there before work and they reinstalled it with some new push pins. All in all Joey was great, the car works well, I got a decent price and they give a great warranty plus a follow up call to make sure everything went well with my experience. Very honest and good auto repair shop and if I can't do anything myself, I'll surely be back. read more

I have a huge problem with this company. I was referred to Clark's Care Car. I made an appointment and was the 2nd person to make it to the garage. I was overlooked for hours just to have a diagnostic and overview of my care repair needs. Many people came in throughout the hours I was there but was not there nearly as long. When I left there only one other person was in the waiting room, but he had just got there. I believe the person I dealt with was Joe or Joey. I was going through chemotherapy, and I was so tired that I took several naps while in the waiting room everyone is raving about. Anyway, they did not give me a full diagnostic on my car. I feel my estimates were inflated. I truly believe that this was racially motivated. I know that some people might think, "Oh she is using the race card!" I am old enough to know when my color has become a problem with someone. The next day I went to another mechanic, and my estimate was just a few hundred dollars more, but I had two sheets of things fixed on my car. I was told that it took so long because they had to take my car apart to find out what was the problem. The new mechanic said, "I've never heard of that. I did not have to take your care apart to find out all things wrong with it." Shame on Clark's Car Care and Joe or Joey for the racially and economically profiling me. I live in the city, but found myself in Naperville with an hour to kill before a meeting with a client. I stopped into Clark's to see if I could get an oil change and still make the meeting on time. They quickly moved my car to the front of the line and had my oil changed with time to spare. While my car was being serviced, I waited in the customer lounge. This is the best mechanic waiting room I've been in. There is a leather couch, a large flat-screen tv, complimentary coffee, soda and water and even a full-body massage chair. I also noticed a lot of toys and video games for the kids. The staff and mechanics were all very friendly and professional and very accommodating considering my tight schedule. Additionally, I got a very friendly follow-up phone call a few days later to thank me for my business. I am not in this area very often, but would actually consider scheduling maintenance around future meetings just to continue to get this level of service at Clark's. I had their $25 Groupon deal and brought my car in on 8-25-11. It was a bad experience, if the owner wasn't nice and the couches were not comfortable it would get a 1 star! Things started off a little iffy when the service counter guy was rude. After watching a bit of TV on one of their very comfortable couches, a tech came in and asked me to look at my car with him. He came out and told me that I should use a specific oil (0w-20) - wait until I tell you how much it costs later. I told the tech my car was squeaking, and he had absolutely no clue what could cause that. I asked him what COULD cause that and still had NO idea. It was clear he was an inexperienced tech. After all the hooplah of trying to get this guy to tell me something worth the money I paid, it was over. This is where it gets good! A guy that claimed he owned the place, Jason Perri (he gave me his card), gave me the bill and it was $16.00! Which wouldn't be much, but I already paid $25 and this was supposed to be for $75 of value! So I basically paid $91 for an air filter and an oil change ($75+$16). He didn't give me the wiper blades so my cost could come down. So I'm curious how much over $100 would oil, wiper blades and a filter cost? This guy started to hassle me and tell me why it was a $100 job. It was clear he was trying to rip me off when I asked him, how often should I come in for an oil change and he told me 3,000 miles MAX. My manufacturer says 4,000, and realistically it's more like 5 or 6k, but he insisted I better come in right at 3,000 or my car was going to blow up. Look Jason, 3,000 miles is a thing of a couple decades ago, cars are built much better, people have the internet now (Yelp, Yahoo Auto), there is no more free reign in ripping customers off. After that, I told him I wanted to leave, I said I don't know if I trust him - he said "I don't care if you trust me", I said, "really? Well then I am never going to come back if the guy that is dealing with my $25,000 car doesn't care if I trust him" .. I just visited Clark's Car Care for the first time today and I'm so happy that I found this place! Great people there, very honest, friendly and know what they're doing! They fixed only what needed to be fixed on my car. The other work I was told that needed to be done wasn't necessary and I was told would only cause a problem. They're more concerned about being fair and giving great customer service than just making money. They also fixed my car problems fast and they were busy. It's running great now! Brought the car in for an inspection before i bought it and the staff was super friendly and professional. So i decided to bring the car back to inspect some issues I had before I sell it. I already had an idea of the issues except for a check engine light. The only thing they did with the inspection is confirming what I told them, not even inspecting the rest of the car, and for the check engine analysis they were asking me an extra 150$. I ended up paying for the inspection which was not even closely thorough as the first time, and it didn't give me any precise answer on the only thing I had no clue on. Staff is really friendly and professional, but in my situation they were not really honest. Probably they were expecting me to repair it and I didn't because it was too expensive in comparison with the car value, so they made me pay for an inspection which was not complete. Prices are really honest on some things, for some others a little bit above the average. Suggested if you absolutely have no idea of how a car works. read more

Clark's has an oil change special for 19.95 so after reading all the positive reviews I had no issue with having my oil changed while getting a separate issue checked on my car. I noticed after I picked up my car that I was charged only for 5 qts of oil (my car requires 6). Checked my oil levels and I was indeed low. I am just glad I noticed the discrepancy on the invoice otherwise I would have driven my car with insufficient oil, which as anyone knows is a huge no-no. I assume it's just an honest mistake however I would have more than gladly paid the additional 2.09 for the proper amount of oil in my car. read more

Took my daughter's car in for a check engine light. It was definitely a tough case as we had to come back a few times before it was fixed. The first time, it was an incorrect part. After that, we brought the car back a few times because it wasn't fixed. It was a head scratcher for sure. After taking it to the dealer for some more research, they concluded that the part from Honda was defective. They then installed a new one and it worked. It could have been a much more frustrating experience had it not been for Joey. He was very communicative and very upfront. When it was finally done, he called and checked in with us like 3 or 4 more times down the road. It was nice to have that level of customer service. I had made an appointment for an oil change online, however they didn't have it in their system. I spoke with Jason who was very understanding and was able to fit me in later in the day. When I came back I was greeted with the same pleasant attitude and spent my time waiting for them to complete my oil change in their relaxing customer waiting area. Customer service is their middle name! Never have a felt so valued as a customer. My brakes went out, terrifying by the way, on Route 59, a few days before Christmas. I saw Clark's review on Yelp and gave them a call. They sent a tow-truck within twenty minutes and figured out the problem twenty minutes upon arrival. I was panicking.because I was not sure how much it was going to cost or.how I would get back home, seeing I live by Evanston in Chicago. Twice so far, Clark's has done the right thing for me and saved me a ton of money. First, on my 60,000 service. They checked everything required and said nothing needed to be done, whereas 2 other places said it all needed to be done. They found my rear rotors were warped so replaced those and pads. So instead of work that didn't need to be done, they only fixed what needed to be. Then, again when 2 other places said I needed new tires, I brought my car to Clark's. Matt asked why I thought I needed them, because the treads were far from being near the wear indicators. They could have replaced my tires and I would've been none the wiser. Instead, Matt showed me the indicators and fixed the slow leak. Saved me over $400 in the holiday season! There is no other place I will be taking my car. I have been using Clarks care for both my SUV and wife's sedan for about 3 years now, and they have been great to work with. Great customer service at the front desk, nice waiting room area if needed, and they always seem to be quick and efficient. If I have left my car there to be worked on, I get timely updates without having to chase them down. My SUV is older and they have helped with electrical issues with the power windows, steering rack and pinion leaking, struts/shocks, and even basic oil changes, etc.., Recently I had to get my emissions done, and failed due to an odd issue with the access to the plug under the steering column. I headed right over to Clarks and Matt was able to take a look on the spot and fixed it right there, allowing me to get right back to Emissions and pass. Since I was on a work lunch break and time was tight for me, it was so refreshing to have a company help me out of an annoying jam like that. Loved this place! I got continuous updates on my car. They dropped me off and picked me up from work (was just a little ways down the road).
