It had 10 minute wait but it was worth it. I couldn't decide on what to eat: Benedict, French Toast, or Yankee Pot Roast. I went w/ Coffee & the Fully Loaded Belgian Waffle: Two Over Easy Eggs, Ham, Sausage, and Bacon. I ordered a side of potatoes but it never came. The waffle was decent but dry. You can purchase real maple syrup for an extra $1. The eggs were done right. The Sausages were fat and delicious. The Bacon was crispy. I couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Everything was good until .... The waiter handed us our check before we asked for it or made any gesture of being ready to leave. My meal was still 1/3 unfinished. There were tables seated with food way before I even got to the restaurant and they didnt get their checks handed to them.. .. If I could give this restaurant a ZERO or a MINUS-5 star review I would! I went there to get breakfast and I ordered less than their big breakfast. I ordered a bagel instead of their usual toast. And asked if they could add green peppers n tomatoes in my scrambled eggs. And when I got my bill I saw that I was charged a total of $22 for my order, so I told the waiter that I had a problem with it and to go get the manager. The manager took more than 15 minutes to come to my table so, I had to get someone else to get him because my waiter never showed up again. And when the manager was coming over to my table he was very rude and asked his waiter, "what do you mean they're in a rush, what are they in the rush for?" And when he got to my table, he looked angry and annoyed. I asked him why I was charged $22 for what otherwise should have only been $13.50 on their menu for their big breakfast. I told him that no breakfast even cost near that much on the menu. I said I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for the bagel and the green peppers and tomatoes but $22 was ridiculous!!! But he refused to change the price and said that it was more labor. In the pictures below, take a look at what I ordered, all I did different from the big breakfast was add green peppers and tomatoes and a bagel. I was charged $22 and he wouldn't budge on the price. I will never eat there again and I discourage people from eating there. There are so many other restaurants around there that are way better, friendly, respectful and offer a great degree of professionalism in treating their customers. The three pictures I'm showing here are what I actually ordered (scrambled eggs were dry, too!), what they offer for their big breakfast and what they charged me for each item. (**The $11.90 was the breakfast that the person who was with me ordered. So, ignore that price.) No one ever returned to my table to process my credit card. I sat there for another 15 minutes. I finally had to get up and hand it to them. This was the most horrible treatment I've ever received in all the years I've eaten in restaurants. They retaliated by being even more rude in the end. This place has yummy food. What else can I say? As you can see from my photos there really aren't any bells and whistles at this place- no fancy garnish on your plate lol. You order a sandwich wrap- here's your sandwich wrap , no frills here. But what you do get is so really damn good food! And lots of it. Service is quick and prices are reasonable. I often get un-voted out of going here by the sweetie mainly because she prefers the fancy coffee at a nearby restaurant, but Clark's Restaurant, which I often mistakenly call the Clark St. Diner (sorry guys!), is the best of the diner-style restaurants in the Downtown Brooklyn corridor. Hands down! What makes it so good is not only the food - tasty, plentiful, and served quickly - but the customer service. From the managers on duty to the wait staff to the busboys EVERYONE is so kind and helpful. Even when the place is packed, as it often is, you are well attended to. In all fairness I've only ever had breakfast or brunch here, but I need to go more often to check out their lunch and dinner options, which appear to be very good. The only negative about Clark's is they lead me to a thinner wallet! We always order a lot (the food is presented well and I'm often peering at other tables ordering what they have) and leave a big tip because all these folks easily deserve it. Great diner in a nice area of Brooklyn. The line can be insane at times but it does move very fast. Even more surprising was how quickly we ordered and had our meal arrive even while the entire restaurant was packed. They got everything right too...the poached eggs were perfectly cooked, the omelette was made with egg whites (which we had asked for)...turkey bacon instead of regular... I've eaten at other diners who never were able to get everything correct in our order so Clark's was a very pleasant surprise. The food was great, too. The menu is enormous with some interesting options. Our favorites were the eggs Benedict with lox and eggs Benedict with avocado over potato latkes! Really tasty and so filling. Portions are large. Clark's is the way to go. Even though I couldn't see a large group coming here--I only saw groups of three or four at most--I felt like Clark's was truly a family environment. Maybe it was the homestyle cooking, or the fact that our food came to us picture perfect or the surprisingly good reviews from the staunchest critic I know, my mom, somehow I felt surrounded by family. You know, the calm that comes over you after you've just eaten your first round of turkey dinner on Thanksgiving. I, personally, take a breath before my second round, and release the angst from my job, my life assignments, my eagerness to please, etc etc. Clark's was that warm moment of simple pleasure to just be. Party of two for a late afternoon Saturday lunch. We were immediately seated by the window. A nice American diner with quaint rich gold ambience without the typical diner cushion booths. I like the European décor as it appears of a luxury European home. Clark's Restaurant is walking distance from the Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge close to Pineapple Walk. Background music is classic piano as a healing touch to fit my current physical state recovery from recent open surgery. Our waitress was hustling busy serving as many tables possible without any assistance. She was either nervous or unfocused dropping utensils during every table clean-up or grabbing too much plates in her hands. By the power of observation, the entire time under our waitress's reign she wore a very dirty white blouse with a gargantuan dark brown coffee/ tea stain visibly noted. Ick, not good physical presentation skills. Can the manager or co-worker lend her another white blouse for her work shift? No one did obviously and sadly. We ordered: Grilled cheddar Cheese with Hamburger & Fried Onions $8.25 Grilled cheddar Cheese with a ham Baked potato Soda Reasonable priced. Good quality food. My grilled cheese sandwich was served piping hot and plentiful to eat my fill and the burger meat was juicy. Cold slaw and pickles are accompanied with our meal. Service is attentive, aside from our waitress's gargantuan dark brown coffee/ tea stain on her white blouse. Another place that I can't believe I haven't reviewed yet. Clark's Restaurant is like the Cheers of family-owned diners. It builds relationships and works for the returning customers. I can't believe how busy this place always gets on weekends, but you'll frequently see some B-actors come by and enjoy a few eggs and bacon with good friends. I personally come here to cure my hangover after a night of bad decisions I don't remember. The corn beef hash with extra gravy and potatoes will cure all my ails. I usually drown it with tobasco sauce and drink a few pots of coffee while chatting away with whomever happens to be sitting across from me. The owner usually comes by and says hello with a genuine smile and warm handshake. Also, seating is more apt for 2-4 people. There are only 3 tables that can seat 6-8, so I would recommend this place for smaller groups or you'll be waiting a while. Service can be a little slow at times, but it's Saturday morning and you don't have to be anywhere, so just be patient and you'll be happy with your food. Have a dessert. Read a paper. The syrup they served was individual kraft brand syrup in sealed containers. Also tried the french toast and canadian bacon. Honey Dipped Chicken and Waffle is, a half of a chicken and a huge Belgium Waffle. Chicken has a nice crunch coating and chicken is well seasoned. Waffle is light and flavorful ... with warm butter and the syrup they give you make it even more delicious. Chicken Tenders with waffle is the same as above just boneless...delicious. Garden Omelette with Yukon gold home fries is a nice size portion, loaded with veggies and eggs done well and I take my home fries crispy on the outside and they deliver it to the table as requested. Coffee tastes freshly brewed and not bitter so even black it is super good. Prices are reasonable. Staff is attentive and accommodating. The two managers have been pleasant and friendly both times. Where this place really shines is their tasty brunch - my favorite is Clark's Poached Eggs and Avocado - and they have delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. Stop in here on a Saturday late morning on your way to a day in Brooklyn Bridge Park :) If there is a wait it moves fairly quickly - they do a good job of serving people quickly, but also not making you feel rushed so if there is a wait people move pretty quickly. Would give it 5 stars but they charge a lot for extras, even more tea, such that it kind of feels like they are trying to squeeze money out of you at every angle. No matter how I feel when I wake up in the morning, I know I can always make it to Clark's for some breakfast. Thankfully, it is a stone's throw away from my building and so is always there to conveniently serve. Today I was able to walk right in and get seated right away but I know I have seen long waits in the past. The choices are endless and just about everything sounds amazing. We opted to split the chocolate chip and banana pancakes and a side of homefries. The prices are not steep and everything was delicious. The service was quick and attentive and it basically has all the qualities a good neighborhood diner should! Clark's is hands down my favorite diner in NYC. Sure it's only a few blocks from my apartment, but it's affordably priced, nice decor, and the food actually tastes GOOD, a trait that some diners these days seems to be lacking... Especially in their breakfast options... What's up with that! I go to Clark's with the Boy almost every weekend now and the manager (owner?) always greets us with a warm smile and hello and immediately gets us a table. We're damn good customers. I've had a melange of breakfast things to eat at Clark's (pancakes, salads, sausages, waffles, etc) but for healthy reasons I often get their garden omelette with egg whites, little Swiss cheese and whole wheat toast. I don't know how they do it but with a Clark's omelette, the vegetables are never hard or mushy, the eggs are perfectly moist and the potatoes are delectably crunchy on top without being burnt. Perfection! Seriously Clark's, I don't know what I would do without you for my weekend brunches. None of the other diners in the area are good enough. You make me smile! :) read more

I am SO glad that I ate at Clark's this morning. Classy atmosphere - they're playing Beethoven, it sounds like. Really nice decor. But what deserves a huge round of applause is their NEW YORKER - Salmon Benedict. Wow. I practically live for breakfast. This Benedict was hands down the best I've had in a year. The staff here are so friendly. Getting food was fast, I always had hot coffee, the portions were great for the price, and it tasted amazing. I got the big breakfast plus home fries on the side. We love this place. The service is great -- they called us senoritas, too cute! I had the Western Egg Sandwich with Cheese and my friend had the Turkey Avocado and Tomato Omelette with Rye Toast and Hash Browns. The Egg Sandwich was a bargain and very filling for the price, assuming you aren't incredibly hungry and dying for a buffet. My friend couldn't finish her omelette but the avocado twist was creamy and a nice twist to a classic omelette. My wife and I stumbled upon Clark's recently after visiting a friend who lives nearby in Brooklyn, and we had a great time. It was packed during the day though we got a seat right away in a cute corner window booth. It was loud and lively inside, and service a wee on the slow side. My wife got chicken and waffles, and I had a patty melt with fries. Great portion size and my wife loved her dish. The patty melt was hearty and tasty, the slaw on the side was forgettable, but the pickle was a perfect added touch. BUT. I was pretty disappointed they did not use rye bread, which is disconcerting as a patty melt purist. Though, I still had to order it because it was my first New York patty melt. We grabbed a mid-morning breakfast from here after a run across the Brooklyn bridge. The location is easy access from the bridge and is exceptionally close to the train. Overall what keeps this place from five stars is the service. While he was quick and efficient, our waiter was unpleasant despite our best efforts to be friendly and accommodating customers. Food was great! Order a large orange juice... It is fresh squeezed and amazing. My eggs florentine was very well prepared and I imagine was representative of the rest of the food quality! Top notch! It's a local favourite and landmark for a reason... Great food with big menu, super fast and friendly service, and always busy - so come before 11 on weekends to get seated quickly. After 12pm the wait can be an hour or more. Haven't been here for dinner or during the week but I'm sure it's just as good. Brunch portions are big, and they have turkey bacon which is nice. I usually get the clark's poached eggs with hass avocado - and I end up confusing the waiters when I ask for florentine (spinach and feta) on top of that, but it's too damn good to not ask for. Hollandaise sauce isn't too lemony. Highly recommend it. Coffee is hot, fresh and tasty - and they keep it coming! Their big breakfast will definitely fill you up too, and comes with a small sipping glass freshly squeezed OJ - refreshing.
