Came here on a busy holiday Monday around 12pm and there was a long line almost out the door but luckily it went by pretty quickly. Probably waited only 10-15 min. for a table for 2. I ordered the Clark's poached egg with avocado on potato hash. It was delicious. I love egg, avocados and potatoes by themselves so having them all in 1 dish is fantastic. Totally prefer the potato hash as a base rather than a standard English muffin. It also comes with a stack of bacon which is awesome cuz I love bacon. It was a very filling plate. Bf had the big breakfast with waffle. It comes with sausage, bacon, 2 eggs, and ham. I found this place on Yelp during my stay in BK. If you're looking for a breakfast spot with classic vibes I definitely recommend stopping by. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and despite the restaurant being pretty full my servers were always around when I needed a refill of coffee. ^.^ 4/5 stars only because the potatoes were a little greasier than I would have liked, but I definitely ate them all so ‍. Always wanted to check this place out when I would drive by. I sat at the counter and waiter seemed more interested in counting his receipts then asking me what I anted. When he finally got to me I ordered a coffee and the Rubin. The coffee was cold. So I ordered a chocolate milk, that took 5 minutes. And was way too strong, asked for more milk and that took another 5 minutes. Mind you I am sitting at the counter in front of everything. The service the entire time was terrible. The Rubin comes and it is awful, could not eat anymore after a few bites. Basically Clark's sucks. With never go back. read more

This has been one of my favorite neighbor spots since 2000. They never fail. Great service. Clean. Good food and friendly staff and all that ended today. I came to the spot was greeted by one of my favorite managers and I took a seat waiting to be served. They bring me water and for 22 mins I watch the waiter tend to three separate tables ignoring mine and even looking over and ignoring me- so I gathered my twig and split. I was in the area looking for a place to have breakfast, and came across Clark's. If there is one thing and one thing only you should get here, it's the potato pancakes. They were to die for! I haven't had them like this anywhere else. They were battered and fried to perfection, and along with the hollandaise sauce, they made the perfect breakfast! The other dishes we ordered - chicken & eggs and eggs benedict - were delicious, too, but did not top the potato pancakes. The service was prompt and efficient, and I love the cozy atmosphere of their cafe. Not to mention, the view outside of the window was quite lovely. I had my worst restaurant experience in memory here this morning. I had ordered French Toast with two eggs. Sausage and bacon came out along with the French Toast and eggs. I immediately told the waiter I had not ordered the meats. He told me that it came with the order. When I got the check, I saw that I was charged extra for the meats I did not ordered. The waiter refused to change my check. I spoke to the "manager" who told me his waiter is never wrong and it is a shame I am wasting food. I tried to explain to the manager what happened and he said he has been in the restaurant business for 40 years. And knows when people are taking advantage. I have never been more insulted in my life. The manager ultimately did not charge for the meats as he was crying about wasting food. read more

What a cute spot! I came here for breakfast on Sunday morning with my cousin and we had a great time. I can't name any other restaurants that have relaxing Italian opera playing at 8am. We were able to sit where ever we wanted since we got there early but as we left it definitely got busier. Located in a calm neighborhood of DUMBO - an easy walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. The food was delicious! I had the walnut waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and my cousin ordered the poached eggs on potato pancakes. We both had mochas and enjoyed those as well! Prices were reasonable and portions were large. The service was extremely friendly but could have been a little faster. We received our drinks when we were halfway through eating our meals. Great spot in Brooklyn heights to grab great eats from. The manager is very customer friendly and welcoming to his customers. This place has wonderful menu selections so you can't go wrong eating here. After going here I referred others and they really enjoyed going here too. It's located on a nice quiet block. The only negative thing is that depending on the day and time you go, parking might be difficult to find in the area. So be prepared to circle around a few times or park a few blocks away. The hostess seemed to know a lot of the guests which seemed like a good sign to me. He remembered people from the last time and asked where the rest of their party was and etc. His memory really surprised me. The restaurant serves food all day and of course I ordered breakfast. The food was delicious. I got something quick because I was in a hurry. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes, turkey bacon md hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was delicious especially the whipped creme. My boyfriend and I came here for brunch on Saturday before going to a nearby cafe to study. We got here around 1:00pm and it was crowded. The restaurant already has Christmas decorations up making it feel super cozy and festive. We had to wait a few minutes before getting seated. My boyfriend ordered the big breakfast which included a choice of pancakes, french toast, or Belgium waffles. He went with the French Toast. It came with eggs, bacon, ham and sausage. I ordered the avocado and egg sandwich on brioche bun. I think the star of this brunch was the sausage. It was so savory and delicious. I definitely suggest getting that. The breakfast sandwich was good but nothing special. It wasn't super flavorful like the big breakfast. I recommend coming here for breakfast or brunch. One star off though because like what other people mentioned we did feel rush near the end. The waiter came around dropping off checks before people were finished. I hope they stop doing that. Few minor blips like 2 thin slices of cheese on a grilled cheese and it's frustrating to spend $37 for a tuna sandwich and an egg and bacon sandwich (including 3rd party fees) and get no pickles, coleslaw or condiments. I was absolutely famished and this little place was across the street from me, so I decided to head in. Because of the location and the time I went( 2 pm) there was barely anyone there as everyone was at work, but there was a pleasant hum as people were talking. I prefer restaurants close to empty anyway, so it was a plus. I had the penne pesto with Chardonnay wine and everything was delicious. This "blast from the past" comes with a side of prejudice, and downright viciousness. This is the first negative review I've ever felt I needed to write -- but Clark's is (quite deliberately) responsible for one of the sadder moments I can remember in New York: I've come to Clark's most weeks for years, sometimes three times per week. Yesterday, I came in about 10:45, ordered a coffee and a bagel, waited for a friend. When he came -- a Hasidic guy, in traditional Jewish clothing -- he ordered a coffee. They brought the check without bringing his coffee, though we hadn't said we were leaving. It was under the $10 minimum -- something like $7. I left $13 (and we asked again for the second coffee). It was about 12:30. The owner/manager comes back (immediately enraged, no diplomacy, no attempt to speak to us as people), shouting "you've been here since nine in the morning." He ignored me every time I asked him why he would say that, so deliberately, so confidently, when he saw me come in just before 11. He tells us my friend needs to order more. I say that he keeps kosher, and that's all he can eat. The man says: "Then this isn't the place for you." He said: "you are an embarrassment." (Because I left a 100% tip on a small bill? Or because of our ethnicities -- mine far more "passing", my friend's far more obvious?) I should say: the place was 2/3 empty the entire time we were there, perhaps half-full at the max. This place is an embarrassment. A place that hides old fashioned racism under the more fashionable prejudice, that a person is only "worth" what they spend on a given day. Sure, they forgot how much I really have given them, how often I've eaten their stale toast and cold potatoes and cardboard eggs just to be in blast-from-the-past New York. Seems like they're stuck farther in the past than I ever knew -- and I'll never be back. read more

Gyro dried our waiter staff wash slow with no sense of common sense or customer service the fastest they worked was to get to bill to get check I live a block from here and wouldn't go back if I was starving. This is a very cute diner in the beautiful Brooklyn Heights. I love the location, and it was decorated nicely inside as well. It's a typical diner for the most part - the service was fast and the prices were cheap. But it seemed a bit chaotic. For $10.50, they have a breakfast special of an omelet, coffee, juice, potatoes, and toast - it seems like a good deal! But the juice comes in the smallest glass I've ever seen, no one came around the refill my coffee, and the cheese in my omelet was definitely Kraft singles. Really cute diner-cafe-restaurant. We were looking for coffee and dessert at around lunch time and got a table at Clark's by the window. So cosy and nice. Ordered 2 lattes, a pie and a cheesecake. This place is fantastic, the music is absolutely relaxing. It's generally classical music, perfect for a Saturday/Sunday brunch. I usually come here for the omelettes or waffles. Their breakfast selection is extensive. The waiters are courteous and highly professional, the view is great facing Henry Street and Clark Street.
