A salad of some type. Unsure which one
    Glenn C.

I've been to this spot twice both a while back the first time splitting a lot of dishes and the second time a couple weeks later for Restaurant Week where I avoided said restaurant week to get their outstanding tagine again which is a few bucks less than the RW menu and honestly more worth it. As I went here a while ago, a dish is not on the menu now and I don't have the prices from back then either. The restaurant lists itself as a coastal French bistro with a strong Provençal influence which lends itself to the Mediterranean/Northern African influence to a good amount of the dishes. They are related to a few other restaurants such as Rosemary's and all of them are also very popular among the brunch crowd. The service was friendly and I liked the atmosphere being fancy but casual. I had a glass of rosé one time and I don't think I remember having a drink the other time. The Lamb Tagine with couscous, chermoula, and apricot & almond chutney is currently listed at $52. I would highly recommend getting it even at that price. There is a massive super tender and very well spiced lamb shank inside. The couscous happened to be larger being more the pearl variety found in Israel rather than the smaller version found in Morocco and I much prefer the former as it has a nice bouncy texture and I find it absorbs the flavor of the tagine better. The chermoula which is a spice mix added a good tang to the dish and the chutney was sweet but not overly so and there wasn't too much of it being just a good way of interrupting the lamb in case it gets a bit too rich. I'd honestly go back to order this again and it might be my favorite tagine in the city. The rest of the menu is fine. Also from the Moroccan influence is the Spiced Lamb Brochettes with shabazi yogurt, pickled red onion, and arugula. It is well spiced but a bit pricey but it's partially expected for the area. The Roasted Beet Salad with chicories, horseradish yogurt, toasted almonds, and parmesan is also pretty tasty with a nice mix of flavors to complement the beets and I would recommend it. My least favorite of the current menu offerings we tried is the Crispy Artichokes with green garlic pistou and caper aioli. They come with five pieces and while the spice mixture is nice, it's a bit too lightly seasoned for my liking. The Tiradito of Salmon with basil and lime vinaigrette, watermelon radish, and cilantro was tasty. It came with seven pieces of salmon and the vinaigrette added some nice sourness and it was a fun spin on the traditional tiradito although I don't currently see it on the menu. Possibly it's just a summer thing or something. A person also had a gazpacho which is humorously served in a Ricard pastis bottle and they liked it. This place has been around for a while and is a staple for the area. Outside of the noticeably good albeit expensive tagine, the rest of the menu is pricey but it is a French spot in the Village so it's partially expected and the flavors are unique enough outside of the artichokes that they are pretty much worth it. The service and atmosphere help as well. Low 4/upper 3 outside of the tagine which is an upper 4 and would be a 5 if it wasn't over 50 bucks.

The cutest and coziest place for dinner. Definitely a good date spot! Service was good, but food did take rather long to arrive. I'd recommend the persimmon & burrata crostini. If you're getting the strip steak, definitely get the au poivre, we ended up ordering that shortly after!

Cute French restaurant, right Near Washington Square Park. Has both indoor and outdoor seating but no heat lamps outdoors (right outside the restaurant) they do have outdoor seating in the street that is covered. Loved the decor, which was cute chic and great for date night, dinner with friends. Not the best for large groups given its seating unless you're sitting outside. Overall for the price, the food was inconsistent. We love some dishes, and we're not fond of others. Favorites: artichokes, artichokes, artichokes. It was delicious and well executed. We also ordered the steak which was cooked to a textbook medium rare. The au poivre was good but the steak was so perfectly seasoned and cooked it didn't add anything. Extensive drink menu which we enjoyed. Not so favorites: baguette was good, but not for $8. the lamb brochettes and amberjack Crudo were a miss. Crudo was missing salt and the fish didn't taste fresh. Overall we spent over $100 for a meal that had more bad dishes than good dishes.

The Mediterranean decor is the biggest draw to this restaurant. It is soothingly light and airy. Service is friendly and the food is good enough. Appropriate for a business or leisurely lunch.

Love this restaurant! Have been twice for dinner - sat outside the first time and inside the second, both are equally as great (outdoor seating closes later than indoor). The staff are super friendly and fun. Cheery, French vibes by Carlos Suarez. The Provençal-themed restaurant offers a Mediterranean-themed menu (seasonal/rotating) focuses on local products, seafood, and North American aromatics. They recently added mocktails to their menu and I highly recommend the Pom Pommes! FUN FACT - Claudette is named after Claudette Sammut, the mother of Guy Sammut. A french restaurateur, Guy owns beautiful restaurants in Lourmarin, France where Carlos drew the inspiration for the name of his NYC restaurant!

I thought Claudette was fine!! It definitely wasn't life changing for the price. I'd probably only go back if someone else suggested it. I enjoyed the food - I thought it was flavorful! It was kind of salty though. The truffle hummus was good, but I would've liked a flatter bowl for it. The fish was great, but it didn't seem worth the price for the portion. Same thing for the artichokes. The service was nice, but I feel like it could've been a little smoother considering the price. I also liked the ambiance! The restaurant is cute. And they have candles on the tables. I enjoyed the space overall.

Stopped by for a Sunday brunch and was not disappointed! Highly recommend to impress your date or parents. Nomz: I had the avocado toast with a side of bacon. The avocado toast was smaller than your average and the avocado was sliced not smashed so it took more effort to control and eat. However, every bite was absolutely delicious, very flavorful and well seasoned. I split the French toast with my friend and it was fantastic, not overly sweet where you get tired of it. The bread was fluffy and perfect and the toppings super fresh. Drinks: Had a carafe of rose spritz and mama mia was it good!! And it was only $20, such a steal. Service: Very good service, waiter was super nice and other people also checked in on us throughout. Ambiance: Super cute place inside, nicely decorated and lovely bar. Nope or Dope: Dope, it's pricey but I loved everything I ate and the vibes of the place. Good splurge for when the parents are in town.

We had a res the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was very cute! We started with the artichokes (delicious) and also had some olives. The chicken sasso was a highlight. And the branzino and burger were both good. But the fries were also the real star -- crispy and soft. Our server was very kind as well! Highly recommend!

Neighborhood restaurant. Honestly I thought the brunch menu was so boring and unsure what to order for like 20 minutes. But everything came out pretty good. All on the lighter healthier side yet still have flavor. Eggs Benedict, Mushroom Omelette, Scramble Eggs were all good. The special Croque Monsier was bland and dry.

This spot has been on my list and finally got to come by for brunch! Got a cocktail and rose spritz carafe to sip on while we got the truffle hummus to start. We got the shakshuka and garden nicoise w/ crispy salmon for mains. Ended the meal with a coffee / latte and the salted caramel cake. Thank you for preparing a candle on the cake (we were here to celebrate a belated birthday). Will definitely be coming again to check out the dinner menu!

After a somewhat hellish day, my mom found this oasis. Started with a lovely rosé and had mushroom omelette and Croque, Monsieur or Croque madame. Heck, I don't really know what I ate, but it was delightful. We ended with this luscious caramel concoction for dessert, which was divine. Service was wonderful and attentive, and ambience and decor were sublime. We genuinely felt so at home here and was honestly the perfect ending to our day.

Although I would've preferred to have been seated away from a family with 3 loud, ill-behaved kids, it was still a nice cozy table. On our table we found a nice Happy Anniversary card, which was very sweet! Our server Selma L. greeted us warmly and with a smile. Selma L. was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and remained very available and checked in on us often throughout our meal. I knew I wanted the Escargots en Persillade(my favorites!), and we paired them with Mushroom&Ricotta ravioli, and the Branzino. Every dish was perfectly paired with sauces and flavors blended well together. The Branzino skin was perfectly crispy, the potatoes were a little softer than I'd personally like but were still tasty. We made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chocolate lava cake and the cheesecake and were gifted two glasses of dessert wine and truffles. Everything is made from scratch, in-house. The New York cheesecake stood out ahead of the lava cake but I would order both again. This restaurant is perfectly situated to accommodate you for a pre-show dinner, and offer discounted meals starting at 8pm-close. We'd definitely return to try other menu items, and enjoy another date night, albeit not surrounded by kids!!!

This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. Overall, Maman continues to be my go-to brunch place in NYC, and this visit reminded me exactly why.

Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup…read more I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

I was back…read morevisiting my old stomping grounds and wanted somewhere outside with a real neighborhood feel and this spot nailed it. I snagged a seat on their upstairs patio, surrounded by the kind of older, well-heeled UES regulars that give the place such a quintessential NYC vibe. I went with the $35 lunch special, which gets you an appetizer and an entrée. For my app, the Escargots de Bourgogne- absolutely the star of the meal, I could've eaten a second order. The Crêpe Forestière for my entrée was lovely too, and I washed it all down with a lemonade. Everything was genuinely delicious. My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. Other than that, it was a perfect NYC lunch, exactly what I was hoping for.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
