Rigatoni all'Amatriciana

Was a little bit letdown by this place! Friendly, super fast service and a really cute vibe (we sat outside), but the food was not amazing. The pesto pasta was probably the best, but I got the amatriciana and it was so mid. Don't even think I got any of the yummy guanciale pieces. The burrata was good and average. I also thought the aperol spritzes were just okay - super watered down. Good prices though.

Broccoli Rabe, Anchovies, Lemon - give your jaws a workout

I'm still in search of a causal Italian restaurant that makes high quality pasta with chic NYC vibe but with a neighborhood joint charm. I think Malaparte pretty much hits all the marks. We started with the calamari and brocolli rabe. As we were chewing, we regretted ordering these two together because they gave us quite a workout for our jaws. The dishes were tasty but we were getting very tired of chewing as they were both so chewy. I think both dishes could have used a little more sear. The pastas were great, very fresh and perfectly cooked. However, I like my food to come out hot and steamy. Mafalde with pesto was nice and hot because the noodles are kind of piled on so the inside remained hot, while cappellacci caprese was not very hot when I received the dish. I did love the tomato basil sauce it came with it though, so fresh! I don't know when the pasta dishes (without protein) started being charged in the high $20s, but that seems to be the going rate everywhere these days. At least Malaparte has a strong pasta game. I will most likely return when I'm craving pasta again.

This whole experience was perfection. It felt like an intimate experience, with great service and great food. All staff was so attentive and attractive (added bonus). They are experts at customer service and apparently body language because before I could even say anything, they'd ask if I needed anything. They even re-lit our candle without asking. As you know, candles are very important to the atmosphere an vibe. We were able to make a reservation about an hour prior. My 2 friends and I shared 3 items that I can't recall the actual names of (broccoli/sausage, a mushroom pasta, and grilled calamari) but finished with Tiramisu. Such a great experience.

My friend had this place on his list to try so he took the opportunity to take me here while I was in town. I'm glad he did because the food was delicious! It's a very nice place, very chill and the service was great.

Malaparte is honestly one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city, and Friday night reminded me exactly why. We showed up without a reservation on a busy Friday evening, fully expecting a long wait or to be turned away. Instead, they seated us within 30 minutes at a fantastic table outside where we could enjoy the warm weather. That kind of hospitality sets the tone for everything. We ordered the rigatoni in pesto and the beet salad. The pasta truly tastes like it was imported straight from Italy. There's an authenticity here that's hard to find in NYC's crowded Italian restaurant scene. The beet salad was equally impressive, fresh and perfectly balanced. What I love most about Malaparte is how the service strikes that perfect balance. They're attentive and quick when you need them, but they also give you space to actually enjoy your company and soak in the ambiance. No rushing, no hovering, just professional Italian hospitality. The location on a quiet residential street adds to the charm. It feels like discovering a neighborhood secret rather than eating at another tourist trap. And when I asked for a crisp white wine recommendation, they nailed it perfectly. This place gets everything right. Authentic food, great service, lovely atmosphere, and that rare combination of being both welcoming to walk-ins and maintaining high standards. Malaparte continues to be a standout.

Came here on a whim and I am so glad I did. This is SUCH a hidden gem for sure, because no one talks enough about this place. We loved everything that we had here, and just about everything surprised me with how good it was (not that I was expecting it to be bad), most of all the squid dish - WOW. I'm not even huge on squid but it was soooo nicely cooked, so tender, so juicy and well seasoned, with a variety of notes coming through -- I was shook. The pasta of course handmade, al dente, and with fresh ingredients. No notes. The bread - soft, a great complement. The steak??? juicy, meaty, with big salt pieces and those giant flakes of parmesan WOW. What great bites. The tiramisu? Also a hit. I mean... just delicious. Great work. Writing this review makes me want to go back!

A solid neighborhood Italian spot! Highly recommend the mussels, the lasagna and the prosciutto pizza. The sausage broccoli rabe pizza is a bit too heavy on broccoli and we were disappointed by the tiramisu despite the other reviews, it tasted very bland to us!

Lasagna Bolognese

Amazing. Large portion, crispy but not overcooked. Filled with some of the best ricotta I've had. Would Continue to get this dish since it was so good.

Cute date spot with the girlies - intimate setting - the heated outdoor tents with faint lighting hit different. The ambiance over the food here. Generous bread portions and could not go wrong with seafood linguine

Spaghetti alla Carbonara

Solid spot in the west village. Pasta is fresh! Carbonara is one of the top 3 I've had. The staff is also very friendly, would 100% come back.

Walked in on a random Thursday evening around 7pm and we were told the wait was about an hr. Make sure you get reservations in advance! At the moment they didn't even have seats at the bar, so of course we waited. The wait was definitely worth it. The food was absolutely amazing- the spaghetti was creamy and tasty. The lasagna's sauce was so delicious. We decided to end with the chocolate mousse which was creamy and easy to eat but I wish we also tried the tiramisu- will be coming back for this on a weekend!

$14 Tiramisu is two wafer crackers with cream and chocolate powder

Don't order the tiramisu. It's two wafer crackers that are mush and cream and chocolate powder. I don't understand how they can knowingly package this up and call it tiramisu. And charge $14 for it.

Came with a friend for a nice catch up dinner during the week. We got seated in the outdoor heated tent, which was quieter and easier to have a conversation. Inside was quite loud and lively, and pretty packed. Definitely make a reservation. The food was good! The pasta was freshly and full of flavour. There was a bit of a mix up with payment at the end of the night. Our server got the cards mixed up with other tables that were seated under the outdoor tent and then at one point; they couldn't find one of our cards. It turns out the waiter had dropped it within the restaurant. Other than the payment issue, everything else was great.

The cookie I was most excited for was the corn cookie and the chocolate chip also looked really good. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the black & white cookie because for some reason I thought it was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, but it was actually just a regular cookie with black and white chips lol. The cookies themselves were really solid though. Nice light crisp around the edges with a chewy center without being overly gooey or underbaked. Definitely on the thicker side too, which I liked. Next time I'll have to try one of their espresso drinks!

I've had Ten Thousand Coffee on my to-go list for the LONGEST. I finally went for the first time…read moreand there were so many drinks I wanted to try so I ended up buying 3. 1. The Jeju Green Tangerine Matcha honestly just tastes like a tangerine selter drink but in the best way, because I don't typically enjoy seltzer or carbonated beverages. I really enjoy the flavor and the carbonation isn't too strong, probably because I brought it home to drink. I don't really taste the matcha but I would definitely still order this again. 2. Matcha Einspanner. This is my first time having an Einspanner so I have no idea what I was expecting but this is DELICIOUS. It's so silky and smooth and the TASTE is just right up my alley. The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I went around ... 2:45PM on a Friday and most of the seats were taken, if I remember correctly. There were a decent amount of seats and the space was decent. I liked the minimal aesthetic they had for the design of the interior. Not to forget, the staff at the register was absolutely wonderful, she answered all my questions, she's so sweet. I think I'm disappointed that I haven't tried this place sooner. Y'all get out of your comfort zone and try the Purple Sweet Potato Latte !! Or if not, just try this place out. I will definitely be recommending the Purple Sweet Potato Latte to all my family and friends.

I ordered an iced matcha einspanner ($6.95) with oat milk ($0.75) and loved that it already comes with a shot of espresso, so it was essentially a dirty matcha einspanner. I tried each layer on its own before mixing everything together and it was all really good. The matcha cream is the right amount of sweet and creamy and you can taste the matcha with just a hint of coffee. Since I'm a coffee fiend I added a bit more espresso when I got back to the hotel and it tasted even better while still keeping the matcha as the dominant flavor. Next time I would ask for less ice since it was freezing that morning, but on a warmer day the ice level would be perfect. Would love to come back to try their other drinks or order the einspanner again as a hot drink.

It's pricey, but welcome to FiDi. My one complaint is they try to upsell you. Like, I'm sure your pastry that's unique to Puerto Rico and that I've never had before is delicious, but I need to get going and I don't want to dip into my 401k for it.

It happened to be 787 Coffee which I have visited plenty of times on the island and enjoy. With excitement and in Spanish I tell the cashier that I was happy to come across this place as I have tried them out in PR. How is it that this "jibara" apparently from Maricao, spoke to me in broken English while I am talking to her in our native language, total fail. Anyhow, I ordered the coquito hot latte with an extra shot of rum and oat milk, fine, I paid $11 for a very small coffee. Now what I can't believe is that the quesito pastry was $8. I really wanted it but it was not until I paid that I then noticed the price. I sat to eat it while I waited for my name to be called as mentioned by the cashier. I walked around looking at everything, the music very loud and hard for people sitting to have conversations, the place is very colorful and with many PR sayings, however the place also feels very Americanized with the music and layout. I still awaited my name to be called minutes later, but nothing. I approached the cashier, who was just standing there, to ask about my coffee and she wasn't able to tell me so she asked the barista steps away from her. He pointed to a cofre sitting on their counter, it had my name, and when I pointed out that I was waiting for my name to be called, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled like she didn't care. The coffee by now was not all that hot, I never tasted any rum or coquito flavor and felt I wasted my time at this place. What's more upsetting is that I left a nice tip for a service that was not provided. They couldn't even bring the coffee ti my table once they realized it was sitting there and they forgot to call my name. You can find better service elsewhere.
