Was craving lobster rolls. We usually drive out to east rockaway but didn't feel like the drive. After reading so many reviews from different places we decided this was the place we should try. So glad we went here. The bun was not soggy at all. Which is my pet peeve with most lobster rolls. It was buttered and toasted to perfection. The lobster was delicious. Huge chunks of claws and knuckles which I love. We also appreciated the fact that the lobster salad sits in a lettuce leaf in the bun and not messy and falling apart like most we've had. It was also nice with the addition of the chopped red onion and celery. The price was great too. Cheapest roll we've ever had and one of the best! We will definitely be back soon read more

Claws is such a pleasure to have as part of our community. Not only is their food and fresh offerings always great, but they give back to others! They have gone above and beyond to accommodate us during the awful pandemic. At times they even offer free food to those in need. I always enjoyed their participation at the local Seafood Festival at the Long Island Maritime Museum and rely on them to help fill my seafood cravings. They are my go to place! I enjoy Pera Bells roll but it needs actual large pieces of tasty lobster meat instead of just relying on the satisfying amount of chopped celery and bacon. The Oar is hit or miss changing their roll style every time I've ordered it and one time giving me two gross looking ice cream scoops of lobster salad in a hotdog bun. Porters, after big praise, and like most other places has that foul, polluted taste. In marches Claws, with their giant lobster rolls. This massive garlic hero will set you back about 23 bux but comes with more than decent fries & a small side of slaw or pickle. They have four or five rolls to choose from and sometimes offer more on special. I've had a surf n turf roll with lobster meat and sliced prime rib which tasted awesome on that garlic hero. I've also had the original roll as well as one with jalapeño and siracha; all three were good, but when the mood hits for straight up lobster and drawn butter, they've got that too! The menu goes on and on with your usual, fried clam strips, soup, seafood, burgers... baked clams, you get the idea. The location is alright, a cute little pond area leading to the canal, some tables off to the side with ducks and geese ready to brawl The shack on montauk highway has a fish market as well as an unfortunate lack of dumpster placement when grabbing a roll to stay, for this reason I don't usually stay no matter how nice a day it is. It's a crowded place for good reason, I suggest calling in your order ahead of time and getting there to avoid huge wait times during the summer. Everyone has always been sweet and helpful like you'd hope for. Take a walk inside while you wait for your order and see what else you might want to pick up to cook at home. (I low-key fell in love with the pretty girl behind the counter, but I always do that) The service is good and the food is better, check out claws this season but make sure it's around payday as lobster prices don't show signs of dropping. This place is amazing! Forget those dinky lobster rolls filled with filler you've had in the past--Claws has the real deal. Huge pieces of lobster, lightly coated with mayo, on a garlic butter-toasted hero roll (not a tiny hot dog roll!) The lobster was incredibly fresh and sweet and the texture and taste of the bread with its light buttery crunch really enhanced the lobster. Honestly, the best lobster roll I've ever tasted and definitely worth the $20. Fries are crispy and seasoned perfectly; I just kept eating them even after feeling completely stuffed. Shrimp cocktail and lobster tail were both incredibly fresh and huge! The raw oysters were also bigger than most that I've had and super fresh. Bon G. and I were visiting out East and it was dinner time so we Yelped and as we passed Sayville we saw Claws...We have wanted to try this place after the many reviews written about it, but particularily recall last summer Mike S. review which rang true at our visit. The place is surprisingly dingy in that the staff does not clean tables and the far side of the venue contains the Porta Potty and a large dumpster with smelly stuff inside. Well we were here and gave it a whirl...we started with a dozen clams on half shell which were not served on ice but in a tin takeout container which was just filled with water...a turnoff it was hot outside and ice keeps it fresh. Also got an order of Fried Clams which while tasty were overcooked. The fries that came with everything were great though! Onion rings were overcooked and stuck together like they didnt care how they served the food!! The only redeeming item we ordered were a couple of 1 1/4 lb Lobsters cooked perfecto and really good, although the "butter" they served didnt taste like butter...ugh! The prices were high for what they serve and the place needs some sparkle to make it more habitable for dining as the outdoor area is the only dining area!! The wait to place your order at the window and the subsequent long wait to have your name called is LONG! I guess its good that this place is there but they need to give it some love and make it feel cleaner and more hospitable and of course pay attention to what they are preparing so the food is not burnt or over fried. First time today- figured I would go for Lunch. I unfortunately have very little positive points about my Claws experience. Positives- Outdoor, Relaxed Vibe, Beautiful View of the Canal Negatives- Minimal Lot Parking (free street parking most likely available), Extremely Long Ticket Times, Some of the food Located on Main St. during lunch there wasn't a huge crowd but definitely a steady flow of customers coming and going Loved sitting outside at the picnic tables! Go when the weather is nice. There was however an off putting smell while walking up to this place and the ketchup/hot sauce bottles weren't very clean. The tables also weren't clean...they should be wiped down before the place opens...no excuse for old bird poop to be stuck to the tables!! Service-minimal, you order at the outdoor counter, pay & grab a table...and then you wait, and wait, and wait some more, and listen to the other customers complain about how long they have been waiting, then continue to wait and think to yourself that this is completely ridiculous especially for lunch, then after all of the waiting and frustration you finally receive your food- thats how it will go, or at least thats how it went for me along with countless others today!! Food wasn't a killer price wise, especially for Sayville- but I do feel like my Lobster Roll was overpriced for the amount of lobster I received. Food- Nothing to go crazy over! I feel like people come more for the ambiance than they do the food. I will be reviewing what I tried-the best thing I had were the Hush Puppies which isn't saying a lot of a seafood joint! Soda/Water costs extra. I feel like I got scammed because there really was a minimal amount of meat on the roll. The bread was also overwhelming taste wise and it took away from the taste of the meat. There was also a huge lettuce leaf on my sandwich which made the taste of the meat minimal. My Roll came with fries which I did enjoy & and a choice of cole slaw or a pickle- I chose cole slaw and did enjoy it. Overall I would never order The Naked Lobster Roll again. It was so underwhelming. 2.5 out of 5 stars Claw Burger: Cheese costs extra. Asked for Medium and received Rare, which after waiting for almost 45 min annoyed me. If I'm waiting that long for food it better be amazing! My friend who ordered the burger didn't bother to complain because we were already so frustrated with the service. The burger was also EXTREMELY dry! Came with fries and a choice of pickle or cole slaw. 0.5 out of 5 stars All and all I wasn't impressed with Claws in the slightest. After learning the hard way and 3 attempts to get here this year alone we made it by 5:35pm (they close at 6 even though website says 7) Food was good. Clams were Barely warm but very full. The hush puppies were good but lots of onions. We are had the trio which was everyone's top pick! My husband and I split the lobster rolls. We def liked the baked one best! I'm sad the food wasn't hot. The staff was nice but at 6:01 they are not taking any orders so just be aware. If they changed their website I think they would have a lot less unhappy people that they turned away they entire hour I was there eating. Ordered a tray of 7 fishes for Christmas. I wasn't impressed. Cooked per the instructions. The crab and little slipper lobster tails were dry. The clams and mussels weren't plump and juicy. Probably because they lost all their liquid because they were siting around at the bottom of the tray. Now I can say I tried it. $200 bucks down the drain. I lived and learned. read more

Cool spot in Sayville. Has a cool outdoor dining area with a little creak embedded. Food was pretty good. We had lobster rolls, fish and chips , New England clam chowder and lobster bisque. Only things I'd say is I wish they put more butter or Mayo, however they make it, when mixing the lobster claws. It lack a bit of something. And the lobster bisque had too much liquor, overpowering the lobster flavor. Fish and chips and New England were excellent! Staff was super friendly and efficient. Food came out fast. Every year starts the new hunt for "best lobster roll" and I think I might have found my winner! I've been wanting to try this place for years but after winning a gift card I had no choice but to go. It's a small road-side join with enough parking in front for a handful of cars (so you may need to park elsewhere when busy). Orders are taken at the window and your name is called out once ready so no wait service walking around. Their menu ranges from soups and salads, to a list of different lobster rolls, to other favorites like fried fish plates. My first time here I obviously needed a lobster roll so I went with the original, side of fries and slaw, with a small lobster bisque since it was a little chilly and seating is outdoors. It was a little busy when we got there but the food was ready quick enough for me. The soup came out hot but I wish there was more lobster in it, but when I saw the lobster roll there was a healthy serving of lobster so there were no complaints. The original roll is lightly mayo'd, chunked lobster meat that has been cooked to perfection, served on the butteriest roll around. Myyyy lawd! YUM! Came back a second time with my Mom who's never had a lobster roll before and it blew her mind. SO GOOD! I've heard there can be a wait at times, but they are serving high quality food at a reasonable price so it's worth the wait in my opinion. I have been purchasing seafood from this restaurant/supplier for some time. It has always been an experience there to be honest but I keep going back because its close to home, the prices are decent and the product is good. I will agree this is the main reason to go to a place, price and product. The store is dirty. The service is spotty, at times they speak rough and do not move fast. Again, the place is grimy dirty. I am skeeved in there. The entire pandemic this place has been a comic show. Having rules on how many people are allowed inside, forcing you to wait in the cold without a person within 6 feet. The reaction has been dramatic and the delivery of the rules has been rude. Today, June 2021. Its been some time that the pandemic has come to a more calm approach. Not here of course, they continue the drama. The CDC has relaxed the rules, the state government, federal government and even Sayville schools does not require masks in the high school. I was asked to leave today because I did not have a mask. I had my vaccination card with me and let them know but they seemed to enjoy the confrontation. This is the awkward part. It is common place now for people not to be masked and they choose a confrontation with a regular customer. They rule is stupid, out of place and just adds to the negative vibe you get when in there from the griminess and abruptness. I guess they are right go inside only with a hazmat suit on. read more

Got the Lobster Roll with bacon and a side of clam strips. Came to this place because I saw that some food critics I follow on IG came all the way to the island to try this place. The lobster roll was stuffed with big chunks of lobster. It was def filling. Just wish it had hot butter instead of mayo. The clam strips were ok. As far as the atmosphere, it is legit a "dive". The bathroom is a permanent porta potty that is really gross. The property was not kept up. Garbage was over flowing. I'd prob get take out next time . Great little nook in Sayville! Omg I've wanted to try this place for awhile now but never make It before 7 which is when they close. I had the fish and chips which were PERFECTION. Honestly one of the best I've had, it's a decent portion too with well seasoned yummy fries and for 11$! Not bad at all :) I tried the clam chowder as well and It was mouth watering. But don't take my word for It, head on over there and try the deliciousness! My sister had the fried shrimp with fries which was really yummy but a small portion, we felt it was more of an appetizer than the meal. They have some great South Bay beer options available and juices for kids. They have a large outdoor seating area, it's nice to go on a nice day and enjoy some good seafood with a cold beer. Inside they have a bar table which fits like 5 people. I sat at the bar because it was a very cold day but I realized a lot of people do take out. Every 5 mins there was someone picking up an order! We love to come for the freshly baked fish and chips or lobster roll in the summer. Surprised to see negative reviews. We eat at claw every summer and it seems there is more and more customers and longer wait times but it's worth it. Never had any problems (if you know what I mean ..it is seafood). I was really hoping to write an outstanding review. I'm a real lover of lobster rolls.....I'd give this a 3 star rating. The lobster meat itself was good...probably previously frozen, but nice large pieces. I liked the one large leaf of romaine lettuce & pieces of celery mixed in. Not too much mayo either. But the roll......it left a LOT to be desired. Mine was stale, so it broke apart as I tried to eat the sandwich. And it had definitely not been grilled. Too much bread for the amount of lobster (which was a generous amount). 3 stars for the lobster....-2 stars for the roll. Simply put, Claws is the best seafood market this side of the Hamptons. Lighthouse seafood in Hampton bays is the only other market that is on the same level. Today I went to pick up a piece of fish. The flounder, fluke, swordfish, tuna, striped bass, Montauk cod, monkfish, and scallops all looked like they came out of the sea within the hour. That's not unusual, it's always like that. I have been to too many places that sell 3 day old,iced down fish that stinks by the time I get home, and goes straight in the trash. I live 20 miles away but would never think of going anywhere else. They also have cooked seafood, soups, and lobster rolls. read more

This used to be quality.....But today Had lobster roll and lobster bisque. The lobster meat was old and the butter had solidified on the meat. The soup was inedible and I threw the whole cup out.
