Also, I like places where you can see them make your food, even though at claws its not intentional and i believe you can only see it if you order inside, But I almost wish I didn't see because the guy in the back who made my meal did not wear gloves at all, and his hair was short on the sides, but the top was down past his ears and gray. I drove 25 miles to be served a lobster roll with lobster that was apparently frozen before being served. It was flavorless and had a very strange texture. Even the lettuce leaf under the lobster had an accumulation of water from the lobster defrosting. And it wasn't inexpensive!! I think this place is great! It's not too far and the seafood is fresh. I see a lot of reviews commenting about the price of the lobster roll but it's a little cheaper than that hot mess STEAM ROOM in Port Jeff and 10000x better. This is a great establishment which has stayed open during the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic to provide not only seafood, but bleach, cleaning supplies, produce, and other grocery staples to help out the community. Food gets four stars. Wait time to get food, 2 stars. We waited forty minutes for a "Big 'Ol Mess" sandwich which had fried shrimp, clams, and cod on a roll and on a bed of French fries. So while the food was good, I don't think I'd be back unless I eat something before hand. 40 minutes is too long of a wait for me. My negative review won't likely impact this popular seafood shack. Just be forewarned. Maybe they were short staffed tonight. Also, they close at 7, not 8 on a Sat night. And when they shut down, they shut everything down. Start taking the garbage out of the garbage cans while you're trying to eat. Hint, try not to pick a picnic table near the garbage can near closing time. Fish store under new management...... We stopped in here to see what the "new" fish store was like. We met the owner Chris and he explained his plans and policy. They sell only no-soak shrimp, and he explained why. (all natural, no chemicals) There was an abundant amount of fish in many varieties, all fresh looking with lots of clams, and other seafood too. We bought the sushi-grade tuna for dinner and it was so fresh and delicious grilled that evening. We also ordered fish sandwiches for lunch, to go, and they came with fries. The bread was fresh and the fish was cooked perfectly, not deep fried, but cooked like you would fry it at home. The sandwich was delicious although the fries were somewhat soggy. There is an outdoor sitting area with umbrellas, and the sign says they will have live music, so check the schedule. We will definitely return! Great fish store and place to eat! I've yet to try their lobster roll, but people rave about it. I went with a basic fried flounder dinner w/ fries. It was delicious. What made it even better? I ordered a roll on the side that they use to make the lobster rolls with. They toasted it, buttered/garlic'd up. Stuffed it with flounder and coleslaw. It was one of the best flounder sandwiches I ever had. Seriously.. I will be going back again this week to have the same exact thing again. It was that good. There are a few broiled options there but really, nothing is better than fried clams and a cold one on a sunny summer day. We both ordered fish & chips, then found seating at a painted wood picnic table under the tent. I was shocked at how sticky, grimey and really filthy the table was. I had a pack of anti bacterial wipes which we used to wipe the table down and ended up using half the package! I went over to look at the condiments which included several plastic refill style bottles that looked like they had not been scrubbed in a long, long time. Each bottle had sticky dried ketchup around the tops and the part you hold in your hand was just dirty. Plastic silverware (not packaged or wrapped) was sitting inside a gray plastic divider that was really dirty AND placed right next to the garbage can! There is also a large painted door facing the seating that is weathered to dirty and rotted. Thinking it couldn't get any worse they called my name that our order was ready and placed it on the window ledge directly under spider webs, dozens of dead knats which were stuck to the light right above the food! We made sure to get ketchup in take out packets so we didn't have to touch the disgusting bottles. Has the health department been here lately? I am posting photos of all the dead bugs right over the food pick up window, gross ketchup bottles, rotted and filthy door, etc. Never again. read more

One of the better lobster rolls I've had in a while. Great flavor, good texture, not too buttery or full of that mayo flavor. My only complaint was the bread was very thick and dry, and, despite it being heated and buttered really made the sandwich feel heavy. I think their roll isn't the best vehicle for such good lobster - a hot dog bun would've been better than a stale roll. I also had the privilege of taking a bite out of the po' boy, which was amazing, but super heavy. This is definitely a shareable order. Between all the ingredients and the sauce they put on it, you're guaranteed to end up in a bit of a food coma. Claws' beer selection is also very solid. They have they typical selection you'll find everywhere, but they also add in a good number of craft and artisanal choices. The service is also really good and they are kind enough to bring your order over to you instead of having to pick it up at the counter. The venue itself is also really nice. Right by the small inlet, good seating, you can choose to be in the sun or under the tent. There was also a pretty good band when we stopped by on Sunday afternoon.
