How nice to fine an auto service that goes out of their way to provide a fair and professional service. I took my RV in with an air condition problem that resulted in a challenging fix. They discovered a vacuum problem and replaced my pump and lines. After a short camping trip the problem resurfaced and without hesitation or excuses, Irfan the Owner told me to bring it back in and they would fix the problem. What seemed like a simple fix turned out to be a challenging mystery that Irfan and his crew continued to battle. The problem kept surfacing but they kept at it until finally a faulty electrical module presented itself and PROBLEM SOLVED! The amazing thing is that Irfan didn't say there will extra charges, but instead did what is hard and next to impossible to find. He stood by his service and never charged me a penny more. Who does this today?? I have since taken my autos in for service and and always leave feeling confident that my work was done correct and quickly without any hidden charges. Its been two years since I came here and they quoted $2.5k in repairs for my Toyota. I ended up listening to my own mechanic that is a family friend, and based off of my initial review, did not do most of the repairs that this repair shop told me needed to be done. I saved myself about $2,000! And my car still runs great after about two years and around 30k miles! I'm going to sell it soon and buy myself a new car, so I won't be doing anything else on it. This was a false charge, as I had used my AAA card to tow in my SUV. I popped in to see about a smog check for my DMV registration and was promptly greeted and checked in. Customer service is great here! Really friendly mechanic and the (I'm assuming) owner was pleasant to chat with and recommend someone to me and even made a call on my behalf to check pricing for repairing a crack in my windshield. I literally drove in last moment and needed my businesses vehicle fixed because it was going to be inspected tomorrow at 9:00 am by SFO-GTU. They ordered and the pully and another part immediately from the parts store. I decided to go across the street to have some sushi, I must have been gone no more than an hour, as I returned I saw my car just parked in their lot. I went inside to receive the bad news that they weren't able to fix it. To my surprise they had replaced the parts and also fixed the door handle inside my car. I'm on the fence about my experience. My car broke down late at night on Memorial Day, had it towed to Clayton Auto Service after reading all the great reviews. Got there first thing Tuesday morning, and was seen by Armando (?). He was great, very friendly, took the time to listen to the problems I was having. He gave me an estimate of $80 to check things out (battery and charging system). An hour later, I got a phone call from him letting me know I needed a new battery and it would be $150. Ok, that's not bad, I told him to go ahead. A few hours later I get another call, from a different employee stating that they needed to do more diagnostic tests because the warning light on my dash was on, then off. I ask how much, they couldn't say, so I said as long as the light is off, then no. Then I get another call from Stacey (I think) telling me that my car will be ready soon and the total is $231! WHAT?? Nope, sorry but I was quoted $150 and that's what I'm paying. After many questions and being put on hold twice, she comes back saying that they "will honor that price, even though it's not correct". Ummmmm ok. Then even before I have a chance to ask exactly what time my car will be ready, she hangs up. Service was done, car is working fine (knock-on-wood), but like I said I'm on the fence about the customer service experience. read more

If I can give no star to this business, I will. I bought a car in LA and needed smog. When I gave the owner my paperwork, he said I payed too much for my car. Then the owner checked the engine if there's any modifications, there's none. He lifted my car and said that the catalytic converter and O2 sensor is tampered. He didn't put my car in a machine to check for smog. He said I need to change the catalytic converter and 02 sat and he can do it for 2k. But as it is it'll never pass smog. He reported my car to the BAR. I called the California Emission Control Office. I gave them my information. A referee called me back and gave me the family number of my car so I can buy a catalytic converter. I went to a certified muffler station to weld the new parts to my car. The owner of the muffler shop said my catalytic converter was original to the car. Why take it out? I told him about the smog issue. The muffler guy in Concord said that the catalytic converter is right for the car. Anyway, I had it changed. And it did not cost me 2k. I will have to use my car for 300 miles before my next smog recheck. But I am not going to this business. He even charged me $80.00. On top of this, he tried to sell me his vintage truck and a wrecked Integra GSR with the engine out. You deserve more than going to this place! They rip people off! I also reported this business at the Better Business Bureau. This is the first time that I've reported at the BBB. Hoping that the shop and owner stop scamming people!!! read more

I had a nail in my tire on my Lexus, in the tread. These guys were going to fix it quickly for me, until they pulled the tires off and found that they were both about ready to blow. I had a very busy day the next day, and couldn't afford to mess around with this. Irfan, the manager, ordered the tires and had them balanced and ready to mount the next morning when I arrived. An hour later, I was on my way with new tires and an alignment. The prices are very fair, the place is clean and the staff is super friendly. This will be my new go-to place for service on our vehicles. I am really picky about this sort of thing, and they get straight A's from me! read more

They have a great TV area to sit and relax in and they even turned on the AC for me while I waited (which wasn't long btw). My brakes have been squeaking for a while, I got extra paranoid one day when they made a funny noise so i took it to another mechanic that told me that my brakes & roders needed to be changed. My estimate there was over the top expensive. My husband called about six other places & asked them if we could get it done today, they all said no. So I took some responsibility & found this place. He told me that it could be done by today. There he told me that my brakes were still at 40%. & they were making a squeaky noise because the last time they were done they put on cheap pads. Wtf, what place tells you that?! Any other mechanic would have ripped me off. I was happy when I walked out the first time & now I'm just shocked. So I leave this place about an hour after I brought it in paying as much as the estimate was at the other place for: fixed pads, oil change, & new filters. I'm a young blonde female, and I have a considerable amount of fear that im going to be ripped off when dealing with car repair because I have no mechanical intelligence. Finally an honest place. i took my ford diesel truck in for a routine alignment. it needed camber bushings to set properly so it turned out not to be so routine. the guys there worked together to get it done. right as we wrapped things up it turned out i had a bent tie rod coupler. they called one of their parts suppliers but they delivered the wrong part. they called another supplier who also ended up bringing the wrong part again! two of the mechanics got into the car and drove to the supplier and got the part themselves, came back and got right to finishing the job. did i mention their shop has state of the art equipment? these guys are legit! they go above and beyond to make things right. i told one of the shop supervisors to give all their mechanics who helped me a raise! i'll be back again and again. Took my Mercedes to this shop to fix the A/C. Not surely what to expect. 2hrs later received a call "your car is ready". I was very pleased with the service and the pricing. Called the dealership. They wanted $250 for an oil change, air filter, and tire rotation. Called clayton auto because they were close by. They were able to do everything the dealer was going to do for under $100. Not only that but because my car is the newest model they had to get the air filter from the dealership. The dealership wanted $70 just for the air filter change. Clayton auto put the exact same one in (it came from the dealer) for $20. Highly recommend giving this store a shot! read more

Do not go here, Went for smog test, they made me pay $250 for diagnostics and could not even make my car pass had to go elsewhere and they passed same day. Be aware the owner is very pushy and abrupt and does not take no for an answer. read more

10 stars for this auto shop!!! I am so glad I gave this shop my business. Where do I begin? I had an unusual and complicated issue. Not only the owner but everyone I interacted with over the span of time it took to resolve my issue was very helpful and gave their full attention. I had a "hot potato" of a vehicle that no one wanted anything to do with and I became entangled in a small claims dispute with the tow company and its employee that sold it to me. Clayton Automotive was recommended to me by PG&E because of the type of fuel it uses and advised me that this particular shop advocates for safety and compliance in these vehicles. So even PG&E think they are great ! Thanks to their expert knowledge and very VERY generous assistance and time and testimony, I won my case. Without their report I would have lost my case. Throughout the entire process the owner Irfan never made me feel like he was too busy to talk or hear me vent about how frustrating it was to deal with. He assured me that I need not stress or worry and that he would take care of his end and he kept his word. He did not take a penny from me that wasnt due. In fact I walked away feeling like I owe him! He did me a very generous favor which relieved a lot of stress for me. I wanted to give him a gift of some sort but I was told that culturally, it may be an insult, so I am writing this review as my huge grateful thanks to all that helped me. This place is great; the owner is always very friendly and accomodating. I have had him tell me how to do things myself if I want to to save some money, and he has given services to me for free that he could have easily charged me for. I have even come by once to have him help me because I did not have a tool I needed to work on my car and he quickly helped me use his tool to get what I needed done. His prices have been fair and it is very obvious that he is honest and is not trying to get extra money out of me. All of my experiences with his employees have also been great. Came for an oil change. The guy told me that i needed a new air filter. I didn't have enough money so he let me owe him 3 bucks. Thats about all that was good. I mean it wasn't a bad experience, they just seemed bit sketchy like they might try to take advantage of me. Just not professional enough. Brought my 2006 mustang in for a smog check in March. They said it would not pass and wanted to charge me $1,000 to fix a pipe so that it would pass. Brought the car to a reputable dealer in Walnut Creek, who said nothing was wrong with the car. Good thing I went for a second opinion. Could have been ripped off for $1,000 by CAS. They do quality work at a fair price. The only issue I have is their time estimates: this will take 30 mins, means check back in an hour. This will take 1 hour means it'll take 2. Best advice is to leave your car there and expect its going to take double the time they say it will. Mention the penny saver ad and they'll give you a discount. read more

Honest, reliable, and competent, what else do you want? I drive a 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser with a carburetor, I am used to being gouged or finding mechanics who have no idea what to do with my truck. The guys at Clayton Auto Service were straight shooters, knew what to do, and went above and beyond the call to help me pass my smog test. I ended up paying exactly what we agreed to BEFORE they did the work, they sold me what I needed, not what they could get away with, and they even made me a great deal on a set of new tires. I came in the shop in a major hurry, I was going to be late to pick my daughter up in Brentwood from school. My car was struggling to start, and I had already had my car "jumped" a few months prior. It is very rewarding to find an honest, careful and communicative person such as Irfan by accident. While having a car washed at the Chevron in front of his shop I noted they performed smog checks. The old ride--a 1989 Volvo 740 was in need. To make what could be a very long story short, Irfan and his boys spent hours researching and diagnosing a problem caused by ambiguous information available on the car and ended up only charging for the original smog certificate.
