I own a Uighur camel hair / wool persian carpet I purchased in Xin Jiang China that has never been professionally cleaned. It is one of my most prized possessions. After a decade of high traffic, it needed a deep cleaning, not just a steam surface cleaning. After much research and calling around, I found this family owned shop who are certified carpet cleaning specialists, afaik the only ones on Oahu. Other shops will steam clean at your house, which is not a deep cleaning, they are also mostly accustomed to dealing with synthetic machine made carpeting, not fine hand woven Persian carpets. These guys worked at their dedicated facility, including a full water immersion, and multi stage drying. The attention to detail and professionalism was high. The carpet looks and feels fantastic. Price was maybe half what it would cost to ship it to the mainland for cleaning. They also sell custom cut premium rug mats - recommended. read more

This is actually Whittco & Meiso operated by Daryl Whittinton under another name. A now-fired property manager hired them to install flooring for the property I own. Scott (and his wife who it's not clear should have been on the job site??) were sent to install vinyl flooring in high rise condo. Scott poured concrete floor leveling compound down the bathtub drain at the end of his work day. The next day, the line on the 30+ floor of the building was sealed tight with concrete. Plumbers were called to open the wall & ceiling of the unit below to blast through the clog resulting in expensive plumbing & drywall repairs. Scott & property manager convinced plumber to create a vague invoice in an attempt to hide the cause of the repairs, shifting the expense to me. They then had the property manager's unlicensed part-time unskilled 20 year old "helper" create an invoice for the drywall repair and hid the nature of that repair too--shifting those expenses to me as well. Additionally, the floor is so uneven large dips are felt just walking through the unit-- in every room. Anywhere you place a level on the floor, it is grossly uneven. Floor boards move under your feet. The material & labor for this job were at least $8k-- not to mention repairs. It must all be replaced-- it's that bad. The floor is far less level than when work began and the floor in extremely poorly installed. Beware. This company operates under different names and, rather than standing behind his work, sends incompetent employees and is dishonest. Update: the fired PM who hired Whittco has reportedly been alerted to this honest review by his friend. (He only hires "friends.") I have evidence and two independent witnesses, along with the building personnel who were aware of the situation the morning it was discovered. This unscrupulous PM has attempted to threaten and intimidate me into to removing this factual review, despite this not being his business nor being named. It may have something to do with the fact that he lied to the building when getting a work permit about who would actually be be demolishing the tile floor-- someone not listed on the work request-- a part time cleaning person who is an unskilled laborer, with no licence, and no insurance. Unfortunately, I was not on island to witness. The PM hired Whittco and was supposed to be supervising. It may also have something to do with his stated practice of fudging licenses on requests for approval of work in large condo buildings. Proper licensing and insurance is required. He stated repeatedly that he simply fakes the license numbers/insurance requirements if needed and indeed attempted to do that with work in my unit the following year. Whittco has still not offered to pay for the damage caused by the floor leveling/ concrete compound which damaged pipes of two condominiums, and walls of one. He has not offered to reimburse me for the cost of materials used on a floor that is so grossly uneven, professionals have told be the only solution is to rip it out and start over. He has not offerred to refund the sigificant labor fees paid. Nothing can spot fix loose vinyl floor boards, and large soft/low spots where the floor dips significantly. (And there was a significant upcharge for "extra" floor leveling compound to get the floor "perfect.") I'm guessing the credentials required to operate in a large condominium building where so much damage can occur, may not exist? Buyer beware. read more

Since we recently laid down COREtec luxury vinyl plank flooring, we pulled out two vintage 100% wool rugs that we had in storage from our former home to lay down. They've been in business since 1984 and have been averaging 5-stars, and I felt confident with their work performance record. After determining the rugs' dimensions, I submitted an RFQ through the Yelp app on Wednesday late afternoon. The following morning, Daryl W, owner of Whittco & Meiso, Inc, replied not only with an apology for her delayed response but inquired about the carpets' age, condition and if the carpets needed any special attention. She also provided an estimate for the rug cleaning services based upon the dimensions that I shared. She offered another option if I brought my rugs to their warehouse and pre-paid for services, she'd give me a 25% discount. The quote (based upon dimensions) was reasonable to me, but I did expect a realistic quote after their inspection. Fortunately, we didn't have any other appointments or errands on Thursday, so I arranged to drop off our rugs. They were easy to find in Hālawa Valley, and we arrived at our anticipated time. A male worker greeted us as we walked up to their driveway and asked for Daryl. He knew our last name since we made an appointment, and he called Daryl, who was in her office. He accompanied us to our car to carry the rugs out from our backseat. They unfurled each of our carpets and inspected them with a checklist while pointing out humidity spots, excessive wear, and stains to us. We agreed with their assessment, the new quote with a discount (which wasn't much different from sight unseen), and pre-paid. Daryl estimated a week before getting our rugs back. We picked up rugs yesterday, and they all look fantastic! The carpets look fresh, clean, and almost like new. Daryl had cautioned us about several stains that she noted during the visual inspection, which possibly couldn't be removed entirely, but we could barely see them. I highly recommend them to anyone who has carpet cleaning needs. I just got back my antique Chinese wool cut pile rug, We played on it as children, brought back from China by my mom who left Hawaii to study at Ling Nan University in Guangzhou in the 1920's. A dark stain in one. corner had been impossible to clean so I had Darryl the owner cut it and serge a border perimeter on each side of the rug reducing its 9x12 size to 8'x10'...great since it fit perfectly in my living room. Whittco did a fabulous job on my rugs. They deodorized them made them look like new. We have an older dog and then I got a puppy for my granddaughter so there were accidents that I would clean up but still the odor I couldn't completely get rid of.
