I so wanted to love this place but ultimately it comes down to the service. I gave it an extra star for the great conversation - she earned it. I dropped off a few items for cleaning and laundry - pretty standard fare but it took more than 2 weeks to get my items back. After a lengthy 1 week stated waiting period. Secondly they weren't cheap, I figured at their prices they would have speedy top tier service, not so much. I did eventually get my items and they were clean and properly handled but it took a while. I will be traveling to my old standby, it's much further from my house but has reliable 2 day wait times (& a rush option!), fair (not cheap) pricing and great energy.

However, I recently had an experience where I had to take two dresses to get altered. I was really limited in time and had to pick up the dress a few days before the event. Three days before the event, I noticed that the dress that I was going to wear had a huge gap in the middle, which means that it had not been closed up after it was altered. In addition, the alteration at the bottom was crooked I reached out to Michelle And notified her and if it was a possibility to come back because the wedding was the next day. Michelle was on vacation for the next two weeks and I needed to find another seamstress. She sent me to someone who was great who was able to fix the centerand was able to steam the dress at the same time. Spent way more than anticipated but I appreciate it her customer service although I am a little upset that this was not the result that I wanted because the dress ended up breaking so I did not end wearing, I would still give her another chance, and hope that this was a fluke. I spent 70$ to get it altered (it was still big), and the bottom was not straight. And then, I spent $20 to get it steamed at the other cleaners.

I don't go to laundromats often - just for my oversized blankets - but this one was clean and tidy and felt safe.

Started going…read moreto Spincycle in El Cerrito Plaza - they are always ridiculously busy and the floor is always dirty. Today while waiting at Spincycle for one of the 3 larger machines, I just decided to get back in my car and drove to TubTown. I was actually pretty excited because I'd read the reviews prior to coming today. When I first pulled up, there was constant shouting. I got out of my car - it's coming from some Evangelical preacher or something across the street who has a bullhorn. Annoying af and it's been going on now for like an hour. But not the laundromat's fault. Now for my actual laundromat experience: There were about ten people here on a Wednesday around noon - not crazy busy and there an ample amount of machines available. Machines smelled clean and the floor is a little run down but not in a way that makes you feel gross. The worker here mopped the floor while I was there, which I appreciate. Average laundry prices - a bit pricey but it's worth it for the machine availability. Spincycle machine for $11 can accommodate more than the $11 machine here (warm water), but you always have to wait for that big one at spin cycle. It was my first time here and getting my wash started was a bit frustrating. I asked the worker and he told me I could buy a card for $2.50 and load it or download the app for now fee. I downloaded the app and spent way too long trying to unsuccessfully connect it. I finally asked the worker for assistance and he tried multiple times but couldn't get it to work either and said maybe it's my phone. I've never had issues with my phone before but what could I really do at this point other than buy a card? So I bought a card - $2.50 for the card plus a THREE DOLLAR FEE to load the card using your credit card!!! I opted for the $100 loading option in order to get a $20 bonus, so after paying the $105.50, I had a balance of $117 to use on my card. I can't believe every time I reload by card it will be an extra $3 fee! Once I finally started my wash with the card, I was wondering when I would be told to "add bleach" as the machine indicates you should add it when it displays. I asked the worker how long into the cycle it normally takes before you are instructed to add the bleach. He seemed like he was a little annoyed but trying hard to hide it and be nice - which I personally think is still good customer service lol because you can't really help feeling annoyed but you're making an effort to hide it. Anyway, he was like "you can add the bleach before you start the machine" and I was like "well why does it say wait to add the bleach until it displays"? Anyway, we walked back over to the machine I was using and the machine was now displaying the message "add bleach" - about 3 minutes into the wash cycle, if anyone is wondering. 4 stars for facilities/machines/cleanliness. 1 star for app not working and laundry card fees - & that's a pretty big deal for me. So I'll give an avg based on that, but it would be more a 3.75 for me

Four of the ones I used received money without registering the total amount, forcing me to have to pay again. The dryers I used left clothes damp. I added time; same result. I moved clothes to another machine. Same issue. I kept trying the same thing getting the same result. If you're looking for a miserable laundromat experience, this is the best place for it.

I was completely turned off by the broken machines and disgusted by the entire facilitily. I was looking to see if there was a attendant present and it seems no one was really there to manage the place. Im upset because I really needed to wash my comforters and this laundromat is the closest thing to my home to wash. I would use my washing machines in my apartment but it can't handle heavy duty washing without damaging the machine. El Cerrito we have to do better! The one laundromat I used to go to didn't make it thru the pandemic. It was sad to see them go after being a loyal customer to them for so many years. If anyone know of any alternative laundromats in the area that they recommend - please contact me. Thank you

Parked in front since I was unaware of rear parking. Arrived and only 1 other person washing. Noticed I had to download an app (another one to add to the list) and it was a breeze. I did observed an attendant who was busy with the shop vac cleaning out the dryer vents as well as doing loads of laundry. The area is maintained cleaned and no machines out of order. I did run into an issue and approached the lady who I observed cleaning. Catherine when asked her name reset the dryer since it went crazy after trying to add more time. She reset it and asked me how everything was going. Guess it was obvious it was my first time. Lol Highly recommend and great place.

    ## Review: The Laundry Room (Berkeley & Oakland, San Pablo)…read more I've been to both Laundry Room locations--Berkeley and Oakland--and funny enough, they're both on San Pablo. I actually ended up at the Oakland one by accident (directionally challenged over here!), but I'm glad I did because both spots are equally impressive. Over the past year, I've dealt with housing instability, which means I've spent a lot of time in laundromats across the Bay Area. For me, keeping my clothes clean is a way of maintaining dignity and stability when life feels chaotic. Right now, I'm staying with friends and doing laundry for their whole household every week, so I've become something of a laundromat connoisseur. And let me tell you--The Laundry Room chain is hands-down the nicest laundromat experience I've had anywhere. ### What Makes Them Stand Out - **Top-notch machines**: All brand new, spotless, and seemingly sterilized daily. - **Attendant always on-site**: Unlike most laundromats where you have to call a number and wait for help, here there's always someone present, constantly cleaning and keeping everything in order. - **Cleanliness**: No moldy, grimy machines like you find elsewhere. Everything is sparkling. - **Amenities**: Bathrooms for customers (rare in laundromats!), free Wi-Fi, flatscreen TVs with live sports, and even free coffee. - **Atmosphere**: Chill enough that I once brought in some fried chicken from down the block, and no one batted an eye. ### Practical Perks - **Parking lot in the back**: Huge plus in the Bay Area. - **Machine sizes**: No super-small washers here--the smallest is a medium, starting at $5. Perfect for big loads. - **Neighborhood extras**: Right on the block you'll find two fantastic Mexican supermarkets and a fantastic Arab market (house made baklava!) all of which accept EBT. ### Final Thoughts After visiting laundromats all over the Bay, The Laundry Room has become my go-to spot. Between the cleanliness, amenities, and friendly staff, it's a five-star experience every time. Whether you're in Berkeley or Oakland, you'll feel comfortable doing laundry here--and maybe even enjoy it.
