THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!!! So a few years back I took my balenciaga sweater to this place.. it had gum in the back, super minor & I had said specifically "if you think cleaning it will mess up the sweater, no pressure please just don't do anything to it" and guess what... not only did they try to take out the gum & make it worse... THEY COMPLETELY MESSED UP THE ENTIRE THING. It came back to me so stiff that it could stand up on its own, the softness was gone, the lettering was messed up, it looks like it was pulled and tugged and just a complete MESS UP. Then when I asked for a refund on my dry cleaning charge they said NO. The audacity. They claim that the reason they messed it up was because it came in "already messed up" owner was so rude about it & when I said they needed to pay for damage of course they also said no. I've been using Cleaners on 8th for 4 years. I've had a pleasant experience here. Steve is reliable, responsive, and does a fantastic job. He is very detail oriented and has great communication. He even came in on his days off several times just to pick up my laundry. The delivery pick-ups from my building are very convenient. Steve does the laundry and dry cleaning quickly, and drops it off within a few days. The service has actually gotten even better during Covid-19. Would strongly recommend. read more

Initially I assumed the experience would be a good one, needless to say it was not. Facility looked reliable, however the horrible service proved otherwise. I bout 3 items in on Wednesday about 6ish... Needed alterations to the skirt and a dry cleaning was needed for my military trousers and dress shirt. I asked if items would be available the following day, (rush) the guy at the register stated it would be....quoted a price of 25-30 dollars Thursday I returned about 3 pm-- my skirt was toss on the counter behind the register with pins still in it--- had not even left the building! The trousers and shirt were no where in sight; of course I panic because I needed items back for Army Ball. The lady at the counter asked for my ticket which I had left because I realize the shirt and trousers were not listed Gave her my phone number to look up the three items I brought in and I informed that was my skirt tossed on the counter that I should be picking up today Long story short I took the skirt when I left snd found and found another cleaners to have alterations done, returned yesterday to retrieve shirt and trousers, got home (should have checked at their facility and the shirt has a stain on it that wasnt originally on it (looks like coffee & I DONT drink coffee) and the pants are tossed on the hanger and the crease has been pressed out of the trousers!!!! Literally I was in disbelief, especially considering I had an in-depth conversation about no double crease and other details regarding the items. Called to inform the and although very polite the young lady said i can fix it--- bring items back and I can hand wash shirt and steam it and press your trousers here.... But the day prior I was informed items were taken to another location for services Call to speak with manager and yea.... No one has yet to return the call in hopes of addressing the piss-poor services rendered Update: in regards to the response! Seriously....berating! Got a white dress cleaned for my bridal shower, it had one tiny ink stain on it, when i picked it up, it came back with brown RUST stains splattered all across the front. They don't clean on site, so they made ME drive the dress to their other location to get it fixed in time for my Bridal shower the next day. Despite the workers being nice and trying to help the situation, I will not be back. The owner was supposed to be notified, but I never heard from them. They didn't reimburse me after my dress came back looking like a disaster, which would have been preferred since the job I paid for was incomplete. read more

My man Steve is the best! He's always got the upbeat positive mood no matter what time of day, and that's the energy we all need in this pandemic. This was the 3rd cleaner I've tried since moving to LA - the first one I feel was ripping me off on price. This is the most unprofessional and incompetent dry cleaners I have EVER been to. I dropped off my suit for the New Years and received a text message from the company indicating I can pick up my clothes at 7 pm. I arrived at 6:50 and the store was closed. I called the owner and she/he mentioned the store closed at 5:30, despite their pick up confirmation indicating otherwise. I love supporting my neighborhood businesses, and this has been my favorite. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the turnaround is very quick. I'm a planner, so I've never come to Cleaners on 8th in much of a rush. Not sure how my experiences would have been if I needed something done right away, so I can only say great things right now. The rates are right around the market price and I've never had issues with the condition of my clothes coming out. They started asking for pre-pay, which is a new experience for me. I don't know the objective of that other than to make pick-up easier, but as long as it's the same price it doesn't make a difference for me. read more

I understand covid 19 may affect your Ability to clean clothes on time but when I'm told I can pickup on the 19th but it's ready on the 31 and during this entire process you keep telling me I can pickup tomorrow and how you'll call you but never do, it's infuriating. Please understand it's not that there's a delay but the customer service in which i gave this bad review and will never come back. I was very disappointed by my service at Cleaners on 8th. Before I went in, I got a quote about the price of the items, and even confirmed at drop-off. When I was picking up, I was upcharged another $5. I didn't mind that much as long as everything was clean -- well -- a few days ago, I took out the jacket that I had cleaned at Cleaners on 8th - and as I am putting my arms in the jacket, I hear crinkly, ripping sounds -- the chemicals they used on the inside of my jacket was not washed off properly -- it hardened, crustified, and dried the silk lining, and because it's a delicate fabric, it ripped... They failed to clean the jacket properly AND upcharged me... Will not be going back here... read more

Do not, I repeat, do not use this shop. Actually, if you have a lot of free time and don't actually care if or when you get your items back. Or if you have a full-time personal assistant who isn't doing anything else but tracking down your dry cleaning and clothing items for you 24/7, then you definitely should use them. In the 4 separate attempts to get items cleaned, dry-cleaned, altered, repaired etc., they NEVER picked up or delivered when they promised and the jobs were NEVER done on the day or at the time they agreed to. As of this moment, they are still holding hostage 2 items that they promised to deliver back to me yesterday (this was after a whole week of not picking them up from me when I called them everyday and they said everytime they were on their way). I really wanted to like them and to use them but I gave them every benefit of the doubt and chance I could. If you need an alteration, I would really skip this place. There is nowhere to put on your clothes for measurement. You have to go in the back of the store to use the staff bathroom, which is crowded with cleaning materials and does not have a working door. The door is unhinged so you can't close it, which is very uncomfortable...because two teenaged boys work in the store. In my case, I needed a pair of pants altered. Once I put them on and came out, the woman who was helping me measured one pant leg and placed exactly one pin on the pant leg. I thought this was very odd because I've had many pants altered. The tailors always meticulously measure out and pin both pant legs. As a result, the alteration is uneven. One pant leg is clearly longer. The dry cleaning was perfectly fine -- but I would not come back here for any alteration. read more

I found this dry cleaners on Groupon initially, thinking it would be a good deal. Turns out it was not for the following reasons: 1. Parking: There's no parking available. There's an alley next door where people shoot drugs. The past couple times, I had to pay at least five dollars for parking, sometimes without even being able to pick up the clothes due to their ridiculous hours. 2. Hours: Not only are the hours inopportune for the average downtown consumer, but they often open up late and close down early without notice. They open at 9am on weekdays, 11am on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. 3. Dry Cleaning Service: We once brought in business attire clothes that were a mixture of brand new and worn once clothing and got them back with an unpleasant odor. When we complained, we were told that it was due to our body odor, which doesn't even make sense for the brand new clothing. Overall, we were unhappy with the quality of the dry cleaning. 4. Communication: We are giving them an additional star for having a decent response rate, although their responses were often rude and condescending. read more

**Update - just received a call/vm from the business about my one star review stating the sweater was delivered on time and the issue was with the security at the apartment complex. This is not true. I checked with security for deliveries on multiple occasions. Instead of taking ownership for the mistake, the business is making calls saying the customer is wrong. This is not good business. The business owners should take ownership instead of having employees call customers about the one star reviews. Really not going back here.** The one star is for home delivery. Ultimately, I don't anticipate going back due to poor customer service and poor attention to detail. I dropped off 13 items and paid approx $70. Delivery did not occur on the day promised (I was told two people called out sick so that would cause a delay). Then, one of my sweaters was lost for over a week. Made 4 calls to ask about when my lost sweater would be delivered. Each time was told it was that day but nothing was delivered. Finally had all my clothes back 10 days after originally promised. Dry cleaned shirts were not buttoned up on the hanger. Pretty disappointing for the price. Would not recommend. read more

I've had 2 formal dresses and one pair of tuxedo pants I've been meaning to get drycleaned, but since I'm not galavanting about at formal events too often, they've been sitting in a bag for about 1-3 years. Clearly not a priority of mine. Over the weekend, my chihuahua got stuck inside of the duvet cover. Like, literally inside of it. Somehow he had shimmied his way in through the button area and was sandwiched between the duvet and my down comforter. Upon discovering him, I dug about trying to free him. I suppose he was caught up in the melodrama of being ensnared and unleash his bladder as I pulled him to safety. Seriously let loose, not an ounce of moisture left in his body. No, not in his body. All over my down comforter. ALL OVER IT. Shit. My washer and dryer is clearly not large enough to stuff a comforter in. There's no way in hell I'm going to waste my day at a laundromat, especially since there isn't one in downtown. After a quick Yelp search, I see that Cleaners on 8th is: a) close by b) open reasonably late c) does laundering for the comforter (plus a sleeping bag I've been meaning to get cleaned since the great campground scandal of 2013) d) does dry cleaning for the dresses/pants I've neglected Done, sold. I dropped it all off on Saturday pm and was able to pick it up today (Monday) after 6, which was a better turn around than I expected due to the weekend. The person helping me (didn't get her name) charged me 40% less than the total amount due, which was confusing as hell but I was in a rush so I didn't really question it. My dresses ($9.75 each) and pants ($5.95) returned from their dry cleaning nice and new looking. The floor length gown had some dirt stains on it (outdoor wedding, gugh) that were cleaned very well. My sleeping bag ($17.50) and my comforter ($25) were laundered really well and smell nice again. I did have to pay the 40% that I was not originally charged when I dropped off my stuff, but such is life, I expected to have to do it anyways so it wasn't a big deal. I'll definitely come here for my future dry cleaning and laundering needs. Great service and Marci is super friendly. read more

If I could give it negative stars I would. I have used thus cleaner two times now. The first time the staff was extremely rude. They did not welcome me in or anything. Then I needed my suit by Monday. I dropped it off on a Wednesday. I went back on Friday, after they said it would be ready on Thursday, and they told me it wasn't ready due to a driver not having a vehicle. They also said there was not a way to get my suit. I guess they don't do the cleaning on site. I came back a week later from my work trip and I didn't get to take my suit with at all. When I asked for a discount they woman looked at me like I was mad. Personally I don't think I should have even paid half. They gave me 10%off.... That was it. Never again would I go here. read more

This was such a horrific experience! STAY AWAY!! I believe this is my first bad review on Yelp! That is how bad the experience was :( I called they quoted me a price and told me I could pick it up in 2 days. They picked it up pretty quickly. An hour later they call to tell me they changed the price. I told them they need to return it, since it wasn't what we agreed on. (Before the pick up guy came I confirmed a third time about the price). They said they would return it. I ended up calling them twice after that phone call to get my fabric retuned. They said they would come tonight at 7pm last delivery. They NEVER showed up. I called at 7:15pm, 7:30pm they never called back as they were closed. I had over $3,000 of fabric with these people. I called them four times the next day and finally got a call back. They never even returned the fabric itself! I had to ask OneClick cleaners (the company I hired instead of them AMAZING people) to pick up the fabric from Cleaners on 8th. A nightmare experience. Never again. read more

I emailed Marci to thank her and her staff for the great work they did for me today, so she asked me if I would put it on yelp. So here it is: I've had Cleaners on 8th doing my housekeeping for the past several months and I've always been pleased with the work. However, something was really special about today. Haha. I came home and not only was the place spotless, but my dry-cleaning was already hanging up in my closet. It just made everything feel that much better! Especially because I know I left my loft in a bit more shambles than normal because I've had a rough few weeks, it meant a lot to come home and see that the place had really REALLY been cleaned well. Also, this was my first time having them do my dry-cleaning and I was pleased with how my garments came back to me. I was hesitant at first because dry-cleaning downtown is normally TERRIBLE, so I had been going to Silverlake. But, now that I know Marci and her staff can handle it, they'll be getting my clothes regularly. Also, unrelated to my experience, I saw the review about the leather pants that got damaged. I had a faux leather shirt go into dry-cleaning and the clerk explained to me some of the potential for bleeding color with leathers/leather-imitations. So, for a second, I thought I couldn't leave the garment with her and I was about to be annoyed (like I normally am in DTLA dry cleaners), but she explained it was a matter of the material itself having certain tendencies and that if I had the garment dry-cleaned before without a problem, then it would be fine with her. I explained that it had been dry-cleaned before, so I gave it to her and it was returned with no problems. Needless to say, I'm glad that she took the time to explain the situation before just taking my garment and then something potentially happening. I find that to be very professional and I appreciated it. I'll continue relying on Cleaners on 8th as long as I'm in DTLA :) read more

My granddaughters precious Christmas dress had a huge stain on it. When I brought it to cleaners on 8th they immediately knew how to take care of it. I had my doubts but when I received it back the Stain was totally gone and now we can pass it on to her younger sister. I'm a stylist and have taken my stuff here a few times, as well as had a dress altered for a client for a red carpet event taking place the next day. They've always been quick and helpful. They do a lot of stuff off-site, but I haven't had any complaints yet, either from clients or personally. When I've dropped off items I pulled from designers, I was able to return them in original condition (which is great because stylists are 100% financially liable for all damages to clothing!), even after a music video I worked on had my actress rolling around on the ground of the filthy park plaza hotel basement [in a white gown]!! I'm going to give them a try for some more of my personal items as well. So far, they've saved my butt a few times, so it's worth trying them out. read more

This cleaner is only 1 block from my building in downtown LA. Many people in my building use it In the past I have gone for dry cleaning and they're usually late, get my name confused with someone else in their system or something a little inconvenient due to lack of organization, but they're friendly and the dry cleaning was always well done. However, after over two weeks of going back and forth on my latest visit with them I felt compelled to leave this review to try and warn others in the neighborhood that it is worth it to go a little further away to get your dry cleaning or stain removal done. Three weeks ago I dropped off some brand new designer pants for stain removal. This was on a Friday and they said it would be ready on Monday. I came back Monday and they said Wednesday. I came back Wednesday and they said Thursday and they would bring it to my building a block away due to it being late. I gave them the weekend and with no call and no delivery I went back Monday and they said sorry it will be here tomorrow they had trouble with the stains. Now keep in mind this a week over when they said it would be done and never a call or text to let me know it was running late. Finally I come in on Wednesday (they said they would bring it Tuesday and didn't of course) and the pants are essentially ruined. Somehow the elastic draw string was shredded and there was something that looking like a footprint on the pants. I took a photos which I will post. The gentleman there (who was very nice but just seemed overwhelmed) was also surprised to see the issue and said they would take care of it. Knowing there was no way to fix this without replacing the drawstring I asked to talk to the manager and he said she would call me. I have called every day now for 10 or so strait days and every time he says she's call me and she doesn't. I told him they could just pay for the pants and keep them since they were ruined but I understand he needed to clear that with the manager. I finally decided I to give up on this as it was taking up my time every day to try and follow up and was clear it wasn't going to happen unless I physically went to the cleaner daily in hopes of seeing the manager and confronting her about it. I think reading the reviews of this place give a pretty clear picture of what you can expect as it really only has 5 and 1 star reviews. But it does have 13(!) 1 star reviews out of 50 total so I feel like my situation likely not uncommon for this business. I have spread the word in my building as well and we are collectively looking for a more consistent organized and professional place to take our dry cleaning. read more

This is a phenomenal spot for all of your dry cleaning and alterations! I am extremely particular when it comes to my clothing and highly recommend this place. I can depend on the quality and consistency I receive from Marci and her staff. Recently I dropped off my favorite white silk blouse that had been badly stained several months ago.
