WE took our mother here for her 75th Birthday this past weekend as a surprise. I will start out by saying we have attended and hosted several tea parties. The best thing going for this Tea house is the name and the owner's demeanor. She is a very friendly and attentive to her guest. The food is mediocre the tea is well, to quote my mother she has had better tea from Bigelow tea bags. Then to top it off who ever took the reservation put us on the wrong day so when we arrived, they did not have our reservation, or they had our family as a no show for the previous week. Clementines did accommodate our party but did not allow us to have high tea, it was not our families fault the person who took the call put us on the wrong day. She also did not request or require a credit card at the time of the reservation which is their policy to be able to have high tea. Great service but every other experience was lacking to say the least. read more

My mom's favorite place to have lunch is Clementine's due to her obsession with all things Victorian and being a huge tea drinker. Every summer, I take her here for her birthday lunch. I have been coming here for years, and everything has stayed pretty consistent. My mom, two little brothers, and I came here for lunch yesterday, and as usual, it did not disappoint. Clementine's is located in the charming historic area of Olmsted Falls. There are several cute shops around it, so it makes for a nice afternoon. It is located in a refurbished barn that has a Victorian feel. Often times, there is someone playing the vintage piano during lunch hours. The downstairs is a little crowded with the dessert counter and a small area to shop for tea, coffee, and other beverage accessories. There is also a dining room upstairs, which is much more spacious. There is a tablecloth and fresh flowers on every table, which makes for a pleasant dining experience. My mom always orders the soup, yesterday's was chicken and dumpling, with half of a chicken salad sandwich. She loves it and never orders anything different. I like to mix things up a bit. Yesterday, I had the portabella sandwich, which was very tasty, although on the menu it says it is served on focaccia, but came out on a pretzel bun. I love pretzel buns, so I wasn't complaining. Very flavorful pasta salad was served on the side. The kids menu is very reasonably priced at $4.99 with about five different options. My little brothers love the mac and cheese, which comes with applesauce, and a cookie. It is just the right portion for the little guys. We enjoyed berry iced teas with our meals. The tea comes out in glasses rimmed with raw sugar with complimentary refills. It is also super refreshing. They have in more recent years expanded their cake and dessert offerings. We got a cream puff swan to share. Their desserts always have a nice presentation and are very decadent. read more

Customer service and communication is the worst for booking a room for an event! Booked a room a month in advance and days before they loose my reservation even though I have text messages with the room and amount of people expected. I was then told they can put me in the next room up but I would have to pay for a minimum amount of people even if I did not have that many people coming and I could just box up the food and take it home. They also asked if I wanted the room private, if I'm paying to book the room for an event I would think it would be, apparently they wanted me to pay for the room and have it open to the public to fill the spots that I did not have for the minimum that I was never told about when making the reservation. Seems kind of crazy to book a room for an event but have anyone come in the room with your party. After the phone conversation I received a text message that my reservation suddenly was found. I've been going here since the place first opened. Their chicken spinach potato soup on mondays and thursdays is to die for. The chicken salad is great too. The always have a tea or coffee of the day thats worth trying. The only problem I have with the place is that it is not handicap friendly at all. I am not the key demographic for this restaurant. My group was at least 25 years younger than all the other patrons. The decor was all yellow floral and wood paneling and there was a lovely older lady plunking out Disney muzak at the piano next to our table. This place is such a cute little tea parlor! Went here with a friend for high tea and we even wore hats. The tea was great and it was neat how it was loose so you had to strain it over the cup, and they had crystallized ginger to sweeten things up. I was not so impressed with the taste of the finger foods we got, but this place definitely rates high on experience. The sandwiches were in cute little shapes like flowers and pumpkins, and the breads with clotted cream and jam were tasty. Not so good were the sandwiches that were made with very dry old bread and the sweets were nothing to sing home about. BUT, I would definitely check this place out for a regular meal and probably stop by the spa next door for added girl time. Heck even just walking around this cute little town is a treat! Cute little shops and antique stores... It was a very lovely afternoon spent in Olmsted Falls. read more

Our experience with Clementine's was not good. We made reservations at 2:45 because they close at 4 and we wanted to have time to enjoy it. Our table was not ready when we arrived at 2:42. When we got seated, they had merely pushed 2 round tables together, there were no place settings or menus. We waited over 30 minutes before a waitress appeared with water glasses. We asked to see menus. Our tea came out, still no silverware. The teapots, which the waitress pointed out had strainers, did not keep the loose tea from being poured into the cups, which we were short one cup. The waitress unpacked additional metal strainers for us at the table, and they worked. I asked for some milk for the tea. Our waitress brought out the milk, unfortunately it was sour and curdled the tea. Our scones came, but not the clotted cream, which we had to ask for twice. The food was okay, not the best in tearoom quality, but good. When our checks arrived, separately, I looked briefly, noting it was $24. plus change, put my credit card with it. When the waitress came back with the bills, my card had been charged $42.32. I couldn't locate our waitress (it was closing time, vacuums were running) so, I went down to the cashier to explain. The cashier is located downstairs. When I explained the situation to the cashier, she copped quite an attitude. She didn't try to locate our waitress, but said she needed to see all the receipts to make sure everything was paid for! It had been and some, apparently TWICE. She was extremely RUDE and argued with me when I told her what I had ordered. Apparently SHE brought up the sandwich so I was wrong! Instead of crediting my card for the entire WRONG amount and redoing it with the 2 items I had ordered, she credited me for the one item only, not crediting the tax which had been taken out originally, so I still was OVERCHARGED. Not once did she apologize for the mistake that they had made. I realize that they were closing, the bakery was already shut down, but if they had waited on us at the time we made the reservation, we wouldn't have been late. Mistakes happen, and they can be overlooked, RUDE, nasty behavior CANNOT! I would never recommend because of that. read more

Yeppers! yet ANOTHER great relaxing delicious luncheon served today. You all know i am fan of their chicken salad sandwich. Apparently, they got a new chef back in November and he changed the recipe. GOD HELP ME, he made it even better, MUCH more tender and delicious with a nice smattering of teeny weeny diced vegetables and slivered almonds. Had their apricot decaf tea which also was delectable. and i usually only go when Autumn is serving. A cute tearoom with lots of charm. I went there today with a friend for lunch. I had the half of a sandwich with soup, chicken salad sandwich and mushroom soup. My friend opted for a bowl of the mushroom soup and some bread. We both agreed that the mushroom soup was a bit salty and there wasn't enough mushrooms in it. My sandwich was super delicious though. And my friend loved the herby butter that came with her bread. We decided to have tarts for dessert. I loved my white chocolate raspberry tart and the jam that accompanied it. My friend, on the other hand, was disappointed. The staff seemed friendly but reserved. It was a nice lunch and while I'm from out of state, I wouldn't might coming back. read more

What a cute little restaurant! My friends and I went here for lunch and it was incredible. I had zucchini Parmesan soup, which was obviously homemade, an artisan turkey sandwich, and a pot of very berry tea. The soup was flavorful and hearty, perfect for a NE Ohio winter. The table is then presented with a three tiered tower of yum. There were tea sandwiches (turkey, egg salad and mmm pimento cheese among others), scones, sweet breads and wee pastries. There is even a children's tea which has a chicken finger, mini-pizza and pb &j tea sandwich instead. Everything was very tasty. The staff, in their Hollie Hobbie aprons, were very sweet. If you want to charm the socks off of mom, gran, your old school friend or your little daughter, this is definitely the place to take her! Tea was wonderful and I had a scone and fruit which was perfect for a late lunch. Server was friendly and attentive. The biggest issue is waiting to get seated and checking out. One person (feel badly) is expected to seat, check it and also help customers who come in for bakery. Owners need to correct this. Two people - one which could be a floater to seat, clear tables and take drink orders is required. I just went to this place this past weekend. Clementine's is located in a tranquil country town of Cleveland called Olmsted Falls. It was my first time afternoon tea in OH. I have lived in OH for 8 years, but I never had afternoon tea until this past weekend. My friend, Samantha, is a native Clevelander who never experienced hi-tea in her life. So, I told her that I am going to take her to a teahouse, however, I left OH about 7 years ago and I did not know where would be a good place for a hi-tea. Clementine's is part of the historic Grand Junction district in Olmsted Falls. Sitting in a historic building, the decor has a warm, cozy feel. A very small seating area is squeezed onto the first floor, but a larger seating area is available upstairs. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The tea I had was yummy, but the food wasn't. Two in our party ordered macaroni and cheese casserole which wasn't completely cooked. They ate only one bite and pushed it away. My salad came with a bland dressing that tasted only of vegetable oil and a basket of stale bread. Other members in our party were underwhelmed by their food as well and most of the sandwiches and salads went uneaten. Dessert appears to be made off site and offers a tempting array of sinful tortes and cheesecakes. The Cheesecake on a Stick, frozen strawberry cheesecake dipped in chocolate, was sweet and decadent. Get High Tea / English Tea here! I came with a group of girls on a weekend brunch. This little town that Clementine's is in is just adorable. I felt like I was living in the 70s and i was a farm girl down in the country side living by the train tracks..... Getting back to topic. You can order high tea at Clementine's which is about $25/person and they you have your selection of tea or coffee plus a basket full of sandwiches and sweets. There's a ton of tea to pick from and I'd say it's more worth it to get tea than coffee. But the basket of sandwiches has egg salad sandwich, ham sandwich, turkey sandwich, roast beef sandwich and it's all a bunch of mini tasting sandwiches. then there's a bunch of desserts on the top tier of the basket/tray. Either way, this place is a bit pricey since it makes sandwiches that I can make myself, but it's such a cute town to visit and perfect for a girls' day/ ladies lunch. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. It is a quaint little tea place that not only serves a variety of hot/cold tea flavors, but also serves amazing homemade food, mostly sandwiches, soups and salads at reasonable prices. My favorite dish here the pear and bleu cheese salad dressed with their very own herb and cheese dressing. I'm also a huge fan of the chicken and dumplings (not served every day). Oh and the bread it comes with! Always seasonal, always moist and warm. And I haven't even gotten to the best part: DESSERT! Cakes, pies, tarts, meltaways, cookies...I have yet to order something I don't like. It's hard to choose just one when you can see all the desserts prepared in the glass case when you walk in. It is great with a mug full of the coffee of the day. At first glance, this restaurant looks like it would serve no more than a dozen people at a time. In actuality, this is a very large restaurant, composed of different private and semi-private areas. I've come here for wedding showers, baby showers, and I imagine that it would be a fabulous place for a birthday tea party for a little girl. I will say, this is not a great date place or a place for a macho man. It's victorian, I-just-walked-into-my-grandma's-house decor is not for everyone. I wish another side dish had come with it - I am just not a fan of mayo-based macaroni salad. Maybe this would have been an option, but I ordered carry-out and didn't ask beforehand. This is a soup and sandwich place for starters. That's fine. It's a nice looking place in a lovely environment. Men be prepared, I drove around the block with my wife and, as lovely as Olmstead falls is, there were 95% women walking around in groups together. It's an antique store, craft shop kind of place. Walked into Clementines and it was pretty much as this. I was the only guy in there and everyone was giggling and gasping at the stories at their tables. Nice? Yeah ok. Except the staff was the same. All late teen early twenties ladies chatting each other up. After a couple minutes, one girl said "take them upstairs". So we went up the steps and there was an empty room with one other couple- of gals. We sat down with a couple of menus and never heard from anyone again. Ten minutes and not even a glass of water. Neither table got any service. After ten minutes we walked downstairs and I saw three ladies who worked there in their early 20's all standing just behind the counter, just chatting and gabbing together. I guess this is where all the servers were. So I stopped at the counter on my way out. I said "hey, your table upstairs is free- were outta here". She looked at me like I was from Mars and said "uh, okay then". So I stood there a second as they went back to chatting with each other. So I said "ten minutes without so much as a glass of water and all you have to say is 'okay"? She looked at me and say "we'll I'm sorry I didn't know a server hadn't been up to see you" like it's nobody's fault. I was thinking well all the servers are right here chitter chatting and laughing it up who the hell would be serving us!? Also, the ENTIRE menu is soup, sandwiches and salads. There is nothing here that takes a lot of time and attention to prepare or serve. But I didn't say it. I'm sure there are all kinds of people who go to Olmstead falls and spend money on crap they don't need at all of these craft stores. If you're the kind of person who spends money just to spend money then maybe you wouldn't mind waking into a cute little restaurant and being totally neglected. Maybe you have all day to waste sitting around wondering if you'll ever get served. All i got presented with today was a cold, unsavory serving of classic, pretentious snobbery. I go to Clementine's a few times year for "Ladies' Lunch" with the women in my family to celebrate our birthdays, and we always have a great time. The servers have gotten to know our group and always treat us very well. The decor is too cutesy for me alone, but as a meeting spot for multiple generations of women, Clementine's does nicely. I usually order a salad, one of the ones with turkey or chicken, apples or pears, cranberries, a sweet dressing, and Clementine's addictive spiced pecans. I wish they sold their pecans by the bagful! I tried to recreate them at home and failed. My salad is always delicious and I usually want to lick my plate clean at the end. Another favorite menu item -- baked sweet potato with cinnamon-honey butter and spiced pecans! The time I ordered one, I should've ordered two. They had lousy service and lousy food and lousy attitude along with misinformation. We ordered a Take out. Friends from NY came to visit and chose the restaurant. We were embarrassed since our friend from NY and I ordered salad and when we ended up in the park to eat it, the restaurant didn't include our salad dressings! So, we had to eat our salads dry! I ordered the pecan torte and it wasn't in our take out bag. My chicken pot pie order had no crust! All I got was the filling, but there was no crust! It is not a pot pie without the crust. They didn't offer any good incentive to come back like a monetary coupon for our loss. read more

We loved this place! Took my daughter and her 3 children. We were seated upstairs, near a window; which was wonderful for the boys. They were able to look out at people walking by. I really hate to give this place a bad review, but they've seriously gone down hill. I've visited in the past and would have given it 3.5-4 stars, but our most recent visit solidified the bad things I had heard. When we arrived we were told to take a seat upstairs. The waitress came out a short while later to get our tea order. She was nice enough but didn't seem to know the tea menu and the overall service was slow. Both pots of tea that were ordered came out and were lukewarm, and the pots were way smaller than they used to be and were just plain white. But an even worse offense, in my mind, is that the 'tea cups' and saucers were like something you would get at your grandma's house. They were faded Corelle cups. You know the kind, they had brown, yellow and orange flowers that looked a little worse for the wear. Not only that, the saucer plates were totally mismatched and chipped. And I don't mean mismatched in a 'I'm a super-chic set that you want to take home, but you can't, haha,' way, they were mismatched in a 'We found these old cups at Goodwill but there were no matching saucers. Instead we found these chipped and faded ones that really just belong under potted plants to catch extra water.' In my mind, when you go to a tea shop you want something pretty and girly. Something that isn't at your own house. They did have those kind of cups on display, but just like at grandma's house, if you touched them I'm guessing you would get your hand slapped. Also, the table clothes were plastic with garish flower prints. A serious update is needed. All of this could have been mostly forgiven had the food been stellar. But, it wasn't. The sandwich was ok, but it was literally something I could have made in my own kitchen. Literally. Like, it was all the same ingredients I have at home. Right now. The macaroni salad was grossly over-mayo'd. And the food took FOREVER to come out. If you go out it's because you want something you can't or don't want to make at home. If you go to a place with food as such, the decor should at least blow you away. A big disappointment on all fronts. read more

I was so looking forward to eating here. I came in from out of town for my best friend's birthday. We made reservations for 4 at 1pm on a Saturday. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation to make sure we would be on time. Our first conversation was with one incredibly rude woman who worked at Clementines scolding us for coming in the wrong door (it was not marked that it was not an entrance) and shooing us to the front of the restaurant. We then ran into 2 other irritable women who were not at all welcoming just being very matter of fact about if we had a reservation. When we answered "yes" we were told to go "upstairs and tell them that we were there for our reservation". The ambiance was crowded and had a lot of unnecessary things around for sale, but cute like this type of restaurant should be. However, when we found our way upstairs there was no one to welcome us. We started to look around for anyone. That's when we met Denise. She was irritated and overwhelmed apparently by us asking for our reserved table. She very pointed to our table acting extremely exasperated. We sat down at a wobbly table and immediately before I placed my purse on the floor Denise was asking us what we wanted to drink. (Normally this would have been great, but this is a high tea restaurant) I said I had never been there before and asked what they had. She began spouting a list options and when I asked of a certain tea had caffeine she looked at the menu and said "I don't know". Lol Well, ok thanks... I'll have a water. My friend ordered a loose leaf tea, my mom and aunt ordered water also. The server came right back with the drinks and immediately asked if we needed "more time" to figure out what we were eating. Again,usually great if I am sitting with my kids, but we are here to have an experience. I asked for a few more minutes and SHE ROLLED HER EYES AGAIN, and said "Sure"?!? I chuckled a bit and said to our table "WHAT IS HAPPENING"?!? Not even 2 minutes passed and Ol' Denise was back. She had her order pad and pen out and was ready to go! Lol She was not helpful at all. I tried to ask a few questions and she seemed to have no clue about any of the food. When I asked about an entree she would say "people order it"... that was it... lol My poor mom was so flustered and felt so rushed she ordered something she never would eat. When our order was taken and she left our table we all just looked at one another. It was like we were on Candid Camera or being Punked! Lol I ended up chasing down Denise to come back and change my mom's order. She came back, but was visibly irritated. Our Food came quickly, I ordered a Vegetarian Bake, described as puff pastry filled with sun-dried tomatoes, basil, mozzarella cheese and it came other a salad. This was not good. It was made in advance and nuked. I know this because the filling was not fresh but puréed and the bottom crust was rock hard from being in a microwave. My friend ordered a spiced pear salad. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. My mom ended up with Clementines Chicken Salad with macaroni salad, again nothing special. My Aunt ordered Salmon Cakes, they came with macaroni salad, and a side salad. These were tasty. Denise did not bring out the salad dressing for any of the salads and forgot my Aunt's that came with her lunch altogether. We NEVER got a refill on any of our waters. My friends tea was horribly bitter! It was hard for her to drink, but the water she asked for in the beginning was never brought. You maybe thinking if it was extremely crowded. No, busy and steady, but not insane. Our lunch which was supposed to be a sweet time out finally to rest and relax was anything but that! I am so disappointed with Clementines from staff to food to drinks. The only thing that took this to a two stars for me was the area and ambiance. I would like to say we had wonderful dessert, but we couldn't stay. We were so absolutely over being here we decided to leave and go grab coffee & dessert at another restaurant. I will NEVER recommend Clementines to anyone! I do hear that in this same area they have an AMAZING Italian & French Restaurant, maybe that's what we will try next time. Very disappointing service, although they were very nice and polite. It took more than 20 min just to put in an order of tea. 30 minutes before sandwiches and salad were served. 15 more minutes before I got salad dressing. I had to ask for silverware. The food was good but not worth tolerating the service. read more
