Quirky, but neat multi-level bar in downtown LA. Went for a couple after dinner drinks on a weekend. Wasn't too busy - albeit it was around 9:30 or so. First went up to the top floor for tiki drinks - was a bit warm at the top floor, but the drinks were pretty good. Went down another floor and had another drink and hung out at some of the tables away from the dance floor. Was a good time and would come back.

There is something magical about this building and its history, but it's sad to know the original owners purpose and see how far off it's come. Initially this was a place with affordable good for people who needed a hot meal. Mixed in with a bar and a moody feel where people like Walt Disney and Ray Bradbury hung out. Now it's got a door fee after 9 and drinks run $15+ each. We went in the weekend and the music was terrible, which is very unexpected for a Saturday. The absolute highlight and 5 star part of our trip was Chewy. He found us wandering and offered a tour. He was so incredibly nice and informative. He showed us all sorts of cool nooks and crannies. He made the night!

    Entrance was pretty cool.

Great place to hang out! My mother used to come here back in the day before this renovation. Now it's more of a night club. Great music everywhere you go! Love the layout of the place. Very hip, and fun place to enjoy the night. Great service and ambiance! I love the desserts.

A classic bar in a historic building. Makes you feel like your traveling back in time each time you step thru those doors. I absolutely enjoy their tiki lounge and getting lost in the building. Dj playing from a boat, tiki punch bowls on fire, and plenty of seating for a Friday night. Great with friends or for a date. This place is just magic. Def recommend you check out their IG page as they do host private events and is closed to public when that happens.

Parking on the street sucks. There are lots around but they are at least $10 for the night. Came here at the beginning of COVID when there wasn't a cover charge. Came again in 2025 on a Friday night. The $20 cover charge starts at 8PM. Surrounding meter parking stops at 8PM. Pacific Seas or their tiki bar opened at 7pm. Tried the Crusoe Old Fashioned for $17 and Himalayan Mai Tai for $20. Their drinks were expensive, but strong. They weren't the best tasting drinks. The staff were all really nice and attentive. The ambiance was amazing. Really glad they reopened. Would come back here again if there wasn't a cover charge.

Sooo... I wanted to surprise Chris with a good night, and took him to Clifton's. I had heard it was open post pandemic, and the openings and closings since. So we went. I couldn't find a way to make a reservation anywhere but knew they had several bars so we could at the very least get a drink or two. It was so confusing finding our way to the tiki bar and I have been there before. It was EMPTY. like empty empty empty. Until you got up to the tiki bar where it was packed and they wouldn't serve us. But they told us we could go downstairs and try to order and sit at a table down there that they had the full menu available... That wasn't true. We went downstairs. The bartenders told us no food, or a very small appetizer/happy hour menu was available. So we wanted to get food... I talked to the hostess upstairs and she said yeah its confusing we are trying to get it all set up so people can make reservations but the main way is to go through the instagram link in their instagram bio. I guess I will try that another time...and hopefully be back with a lovely review and update. This was frustrating, but still such a cool space. We Went to our favorite not too far away for dinner instead...Bottega Louie! Yum!

I had a good time here. First time back since it reopened. Still one of the coolest places to grab a drink in LA in my opinion. Came in on a Saturday night with some friends. The place is still gorgeous. They had a DJ going playing a good mix of stuff. They were mainly using the 2nd and 3rd floors. But there was plenty of open seating which I definitely appreciated. The "secret" tiki bar was still the most popular section. Drinks are a bit pricey but standard for downtown. The cocktails are delicious though. As for food there's a small menu. I'd describe it as tastefully presented bar bites. They'll do when you've worked up a buzz. Service was great. Friendly staff. There's pay parking structures within a block or two.

I heard that Clifton's reopened so we went to go check it out on a Friday night after dinner. It wasn't too terribly crowded, I'm guessing because of a combination of closed streets for filming, the upcoming Broadway Night Lights event, and because they just recently reopened. Bar service was super quick and friendly. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for the bartenders. There was plenty of seating and spots to hangout throughout the place. They had a DJ, and you can dance on the second floor if that's your thing. There's multiple floors that you can explore including a "hidden" quieter 4th floor accessible via mirror door on the 3rd floor if I remember correctly. You can always ask any of the bartenders if you're having trouble finding the hidden door. Overall it was a great place to get grab some drinks after dinner. I just love the vibe of the place and I know we'll be back regularly.

Something classic about walking into Clifton's after years of not going. Such a historic building with surprises at every corner. Often times find myself feeling like I'm doing a museum tour and then I remember, I'm sipping a flaming tropical drink while a DJ plays Italian disco music from a boat. Yes, a boat! And it reminds me again of the absolute beauty of Clifton's. You're not just out for the night. You are time traveling back to the 1930's. Top notch service from the bartender, hostess, and DJ for a night well enjoyed at the Pacific Seas!

Loved the vibe there, music, dancing, the view. Cocktails also good, I had a passion fruit margharita.

We came for a birthday celebration it was my first time here. Timing was lucky enough for Tree Lighting, no cover, and got to meet Santa. It's an AMAZING Space... er Spaces! There's 5bars in here I think, who knows. Some are hidden speak easies that you find by walking through a Mirror to find a set of stairs. There's secret places and sitting areas in Monarch bar. Exploring everywhere is fun. Very visually appealing everywhere you go. You can walk anywhere with any bars cocktail. Our reservation was for the Tiki bar. It's a gorgeous bar there's something interesting everywhere you look. Food is elevated bar food. The theme continues through presentation of food and drinks. The practicality of it with small bar tables is a flaw though. 2-5 people a table with a drink and orders food it's gets crowded and stacked quickly. Get there before 9pm for no cover.

Clifton's is a whole experience. The vibe is eclectic and immersive, with so many rooms and hidden corners to explore that it feels like a whimsical, slightly surreal adventure. There's a giant tree right in the middle of it and a warm fireplace that adds to the inviting atmosphere. They've got a solid selection of drinks and a ton of options, from beers at a reasonable $8 to creative cocktails. The music was on point and the crowd was super friendly. Between the different themed spaces and even a secret mirror, there's always something new to stumble into. Definitely a fun night out with a lot to offer.

probably my favorite bar in LA. The vibes here are simply immaculate. The drinks are quite good, threw back a Paloma and a piña colada. I was on a sick one foo (lightweight). all in all I had a really great time with my friend here. Sometimes you just need to experience really great things such as the magic of Clifton's. Just a note there's a $20 cover but I really think it's worth it so you're not like super crowded. There is interesting art installations everywhere and taxidermy animals giving you that real California wild wild West feel. Three floors of fun. I took the train here, the light rail and it was quite convenient. Will surely come again soon, love this place so much.

Does the cover charge start at 6pm? Or how much later?

Is there parking at Clifton's? and is there a cover at 7pm?? Posted 10/10/22

Since the floors are built around a tree, does any of this feel like it's outside - I still generally only eat/drink at outdoor patios, so I cannot tell if there are any spaces here that will feel like eating on a patio?

What time does the line usually start getting long?

In June of 2022 there was no line on entrance at about 9pm, and no line when we exited at about 11:30.

Is this place just a bar now? Or can we come here for a family dinner? Haven't been here in a while so I'm not sure

In June of 2022 there was one bar menu with about 10 items on it that you can order from on any floor.

After what time does the cover charge apply?

There was a cover charge of $20 each at 9:00 pm. It seems there's a permanent cover charge even when entering before most people arrive at about 10pm.

    Is it open 2022?

Yes and it's $20 cover charge now

    Is Clifton's back open yet?

20 dollar cover with a tip thought this was odd

Is this place like it used th be back in the 80s and early 90s? I recall it being cafeteria style but not sure if they have changed it since.

What kind of music do they play?

There are different floors. Three I think. Top floor has a swing room for swing music/dancing. Literally like a separate club/bar in same building. Another section of the club has pop music, like Bruno Mars. I also recall some 90s hip hop. It's… Read more

Are Reservations a must to enter?

No reservation needed if you get there between 10-11. After that, the line was long

Is there a dance floor, and if so what type of music do they play?

They don't have a traditional dance floor in one area but the room that's fashioned as a 1920's swing dance kind of club with a live band playing music. The bottom floor does have a dance floor or at least people make it one and the top tiki room… Read more

Outdoors, there was seating for meals and open grassy and first space with tents for any outdoor programming. The event organizers rented some fancy outdoor temporary restrooms, so I'm unsure if Rolling Greens has restrooms at all or if they had restrooms, but it wasn't sufficient for our large gathering. I saw there was also parking available inside the gates that you can close, though for the event I attended, the parking spots were not utilized and we had to take the drawn parking spots outside, find street parking (which wasn't too bad), or do valet.
