We recently had a terrible experience with our home warranty company and the HVAC contractor they dispatched. The work that that contractor stated our system needed after doing a routine annual tune-up was that the evaporative cooler needed to be replaced; and was going to cost us over $4,500 out-of-pocket (and the home warranty was going to cover a mere $400). This work turned out to be completely unnecessary. After reading up on the reviews of that company the home warranty company dispatched, it sounded to us like it's their business motto to rip off homeowners through their home warranty companies. My instincts told me that we needed to get a second opinion after getting their "diagnosis" and quote, as well as after reading their reviews. However, our home warranty company declined our request for a second opinion. We contacted Climate Solutions for a second opinion anyway on our own. To be clear, I wanted to make sure we got a thorough inspection and an independent opinion, and not influence their opinion by sharing the diagnosis of the other contractor. So, I never told them that we were told we needed to replace the evaporative cooler. Kao came out as scheduled, and after his inspection, told us our system was just a bit low on refrigerant, but it's still functioning just fine (and it is, as we've never had any issues, and the "issue" we were told we had resulted from just a routine seasonal tune-up). We ended up saving ourselves from getting ripped off over $4,500. We also decided to be done with our home warranty company, as it is clear to us they do not properly vet their contractors, nor do they value their customers' feedback, opinion, and their best interest. We highly recommend Kao and Climate Solutions. They are reliable, trustworthy, and reasonable in their work and pricing. Kao came out, gave me a honest quote (excellent compared to some others), and got my issue resolved. My AC was leaking out the secondary drain hole meaning the primary was compromised. I could of fixed just that but my AC was 20 years old so I had him replace that as well. Everything came out nice and better than what actually came with the house. To whom may concern, I had my commercial AC unit evaluated with the previous technician due to a blowout fuse, a week later another blowout fuse; technician recommendation is that I needed a new fan motor. Okay I have no problem paying $750 for a replacement with 6 months warranty parts and labor. As my gut feeling tells me I needed a second opinion on this matter that I'm no expert in. I decided to send out a quote through Yelp with my recommendation ( replacement fan motor, " Total Cost " ) every company wanted their inspection cost $60-$90 before hands on. Kao from Climate Solutions was straight forward, "yes I can do it tomorrow for a flat rate of $725." with... ( warranty 5 years parts & 5 years labor ) which every company wanted 3 months or 6 months on the labor & parts warranty. After trouble shooting my unit he stated that my unit had a weak capacitor and some of the connectors screws were loose due the years of heat climate. Capacitor replacement and tighten up the connectors screws of the fraction of the cost I would've spend on a replacement fan motor, very pleased. Kao installed a mini-split on a room in our house that gets pounded with sunlight from spring to fall and barely gets any air conditioning because of the way the ducts in the home are installed. He did a great job, was priced very fairly, returned the work areas to pre-work conditions, and even took a look at my current HVAC system for the rest of the house as an early tune-up for summer. I got three quotes for the work. Kao originally came in a little above my lowest quote but he met their price. I chose him not just because of the price, but because, of all the people who came out, he was the one who seemed to put the most thought into how the system installation would work. This is a long overdue review. I've been using Kao's service for the rentals I manage in Elk Grove since 2019. The first service I got from Kao was for an AC condenser replacement. The old condenser was ruined by dog pees and deemed unrepairable by all the HVAC companies that came to give me a quote. I initially reached out to Kao when our furnace stopped blowing hot air but he wasn't going to be avaible for a few days so I ended up going with another company that was able to make it out sooner. The gentleman that came from Jaguar heating and air was very professional and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. We were told the draft motor was stuck but he was able to get it to work again.. However, he did let us know there's no telling when it will happen again.. But because he didn't have the part on hand we opt to not replace it at that time.. The qoute that was given was $840.. As expected it stopped working again within a few weeks.. Because I wanted to support Asian owned small businesses I decided to reach out to Kao again.. He responded promptly and came out within two days.. The part was stuck and it took longer than anticipated but as soon as he was able to get the part off, the rest of it was done pretty quick.. Cost out the door including part and labor came to $475.. Kao kindly explained that it was because the particular brand of our furnace didn't require the entire housing to be replace and that we only needed to replace the motor itself.. Great Service! Had the guys out to do general maintenance on our roof AC/furnace combo and perform a vent cleaning. It was unfortunately one of the days we had 105+ weather; the team showed ip and did the maintenance bright and early to get the roof work out of the way before it got too hot. Vent cleaning took about 3 hours for 15 vents and 2 returns. The systems was definitely dirty!! post cleaning i have no complaints at all!! the AC works better and the air feels more clean. cannot wait to see how much better the furnace works this winter! we will definitely be using them again next year for the yearly service. read more

Kao was running late but he called to let me know. My AC was blowing hot air at the worst time of the week when we hit 100 degrees. My house temperature was 92 degrees!!!! Kao came and turned on my AC and checked my breakers since my AC unit did not turn on, and the only thing wrong was that the fuse/breakers for my unit blew out because of the hot weather. Kao and Jun from Climate Solutions went above and beyond our expectations when it came to replacing our HVAC system. Let me explain... It all started over a year ago, when we were told our HVAC system was "on its last legs". It was the original system and well over 15 years old. The freon was running low and to refill it would eventually cost us an arm and a leg. (They call it "liquid gold" for a reason folks...) Not to mention it was being phased out due to the harmful effects on our environment. So we started saving in anticipation of getting a replacement. Fast forward to May 2019. The temperature here in the E.G. hit the 80s which prompted our HVAC to automatically kick into gear. The start-up sound was loud, like the sound of an old clunky generator. It clanked, sputtered, and coughed, but managed to push out some "cool" air. The noise was so loud it startled me and I ran downstairs from my office to see what was going on. But alas, after a few minutes of pumping out what would be its last breath, our HVAC system went kaput. It was time... We figured we would have approximately a month before things started heating up so time was of the essence. We decided to interview a handful of locally-based contractors. The smaller the better as we felt the communication, service, and experience would be better than the big guys. Our decision would eventually prove to be correct. The first contractor came. He took a look at our old AC unit, didn't bother going upstairs to look at our furnace and duct work -- despite me mentioning the lack of air being pushed into my son's room. (Note: Isn't it always the case that there's always ONE room that doesn't get sufficient heating and cooling? But I digress...). Needless to say, if you're not going to even look at our system, then you're out of the running. Next! The second contractor came. They were awesome! The owner showed up. He was thorough, actively listened, literally diagrammed (using pen and paper) what our system looked like upstairs, showed us photos, and outlined how they would fix it. He then went through our options for equipment and even showed us the previous jobs they had completed. Super transparent! They set the bar very high! We continued our communication over the entire bidding process and he taught us a lot about the HVAC systems. The third contractor was a referral. This is one of the more "established" companies here in Sacramento. I really didn't want to call them, but some friends had great experiences so we thought we'd give them a chance. Boy, were we wrong! The sales guy came to our home and right off the bat never really listened to our needs (by the way I don't like sales guys coming over for projects as big as this as they are NOT the ones who are going to work on the system). He seemed to be in a rush and really didn't take the time to inspect our system. I've been in sales and around sales people from all levels. This guy was a little too overconfident, he didn't have nice things to say about other contractors, and to make matters worse his recommendation and estimate was about $10K higher than the others. Talk about not listening... That was a waste of time! Then came Climate Solutions. Kao, the owner, is literally a one-man shop. He spent about 3 hours in our home inspecting our system, diagramming our ductwork, showing us where he could improve the airflow into our son's room ... E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G! He too was very transparent about his work and was honest and straightforward with his answers. He provided us with several options and had great no-interest financing options. It was a tough decision, but in the end we chose Climate Solutions to do the job because Kao's solution to increase airflow and still keep the aesthetics of the home intact was what we were looking for. Not to mention, he was ultra-responsive to our text messages. Dude had a lot going on but responded with the information we needed. His price was also competitive too! On the day of the install Kao brought his assistant, Jun. The two of them showed up on time, were respectful of our home, laying tarp all throughout their work areas. He gave me periodic updates on what they were doing and how long it would take. They even set up our Ecobee thermostats and walked us through the entire post-install inspection process, as well as helped us fill out the rebate SMUD rebate forms. We were up and running in a couple of days, just in time for the arrival of summer! Phew!
