Let me tell you about the best place to eat in Spokane. This place has great location, atmosphere, staff, and food. This establishment has it ALL. First let's start with the view, they have a few seating options where the restuaunt overlooks the water. Beautiful view and really makes you enjoy your meal that much more. We arrived at 4 pm and the cute little old lady was checking people in and was an adorable hostess. At 4:15 we were seating and Lilly was our server. Let's dive into the food and drinks. EXCELLENT. We came for restuaunt week and we picked our three courses. We all chose the salads as the first course. My friend and I chose salmon as the second and my husband chose the prime rib. For dessert my friend and I went with burnt creme and husband went for the chocolate moose. My husband and I shared a French onion soup as well. Let's get into the juicy details of this unique food. The salad was AMAZING. The cesesr salad was made to perfection. Crispy, fresh lettuce that was ice cold and refreshing with every bite! You know for a fact the croutons were homemade because they were just the right toasted texture. Lastly, the salad was covered with dressing and had a tang with every bite. Exquisite. The salmon in beyond great and probably the best cooked fish I have had in a while at a fine dining restuaunt. I am almost certain this fish must have been swimming in the holy waters of Jerusalem because that's how great it was. The peppercorn seasoning was a fine addition to the fish and it was seared just right so it wasn't too chewy. The mashed potatoes were a great texture and the veggies were a fun addition. The veggies were probably the best part since it tied it all together. They weren't your typical carrots and asparagus but beets, parsnips, and brussel sprouts. Great flavors and perfect dish. My husband's prime rib was also amazing. It came with the same mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. The seasoning was just right and if I had any more room, I would of ordered a second entree of the prime rib. Dessert was fabulous. The burnt creme was light, fluffy, and you can tell love and effort was put into this course. It can be a task for most places to get creme bruelle just right and well Clinkendagger has mastered it. The sugar on top was melting just right and locked the entire dessert together. It came with a side of whipped creme and berries but the custard was just too perfect, it did not need any additions. French onion was great. Just the right amount onion so it was not overwhelming and not overdone with the bread. The melted cheese was fun and overall, a great soup. Nice and warm. Lilly, our server is great and went above and beyond. She is fast and attentive. She checked on us regularly and was very sweet had a lot if knowledge about the menu. Very impressed with her attitude and her positivity. Drinks came out promptly and water was always full. The bread was also quite magical. Warm and fluffy inside. I really want to give this 3.5 stars. The best parts: service is superb, even on a busy night. From the hostess who sat us to our server, we were treated well and welcomed. As the crowd grew it took longer for our waiter to return to us, but that is understandable. The food was mixed. I ordered fresh salmon, pan fried, with a side salad. The salad greens seemed to be either a couple days old or just not very tender, but the vinaigrette dressing was excellent. My salmon was nicely seasoned but overcooked by a couple of minutes, so it didn't have that wonderful pink color and didn't really flake the way that fresh salmon cooked just right has. The seasonal vegetables--a mix of squash, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts--was a nice accompaniment. My wife's mahi mahi was also overcooked and almost dry, but the mashed potatoes were decent. We had a bottle of King's Estate Pinot gris, a nice pairing for our dinner. When we arrived for a fairly early reservation, the place was quiet, but within 30 minutes it became so loud we could hardly hear one another (truth in advertising: we are senior citizens so a loud ambiance does not really suit us). We had a reservation. The main course took over 60 minutes to reach our table. Our drinks were gone, bread long gone, water refilled twice. Right before the food hit the table we were told they were out of mashed potatoes and rice so they substituted these small potatoes (basically small Jo Jo's) and they were really greasy. My husband's fish was really dry. Mine was cooked ok though. There wasn't a lot of food on anyone's plate. It's like they were almost out of everything. I don't know what was going on. Another table was also annoyed. They did apologize and took my husband's food off the bill. Just not a very good meal for the price. We are from out of town and told this was the place to go. Our drinks and wine were delightful as was the crab and artichoke dip appetizer. From our table we had a stunning view of the Spokane River falls that thrilled my fisherman husband and me. The Broadway Pea Salad was fresh and loaded with chestnuts and bacon chunks. The almond crusted sea scallops, mashed potatoes, and tasty veggies topped off a fantastic dinner but we failed to save room for dessert. While I wanted so much to enjoy the food here I just couldn't. The staff, location, and atmosphere are great but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the 9 oz filet. The first one I got not only looked like a top sirloin but was incredibly over cooked. (I ordered mine medium rare.) So by time I got my food back my husband was done with his dinner. My second steak was cooked perfectly but was flavorless and grisly. The mashed potatoes were also under seasoned. My husband ordered the seafood medley with salmon, shrimp, and scallops. The salmon was hooded grey but the shrimp was over cooked and scallops were under cooked! I hope maybe they just have a new chef and they are learning the ropes. Ambiance is wonderful and the setting is relaxing. I ordered King Salmon (medium) with avocado salsa and I received and was billed for Skuna Bay salmon (well done- dry) without avocado salsa. I didn't bother to tell the waiter since he did not listen the first time. My brother ordered a large serving of prime rib and received a small and mom ordered a small medium rare prime rib and received a large medium prime rib. I tried to explain to the waiter how to split the table for the bill during the ordering of the meal (yes one would think standard ordering procedure) but was scolded and told he would do that when he brought the bill. Not very polite is it. No recognition of mother's birthday even though we explained that is why we were there. Disappointed and will really think before returning. We had fried calamari, half oysters on shell, and crab & artichoke dip. They all were good, with the crab & artichoke dip being my favorite, so my hopes were up again for a good experience ahead. Well, it wasn't. Danielle came by to clear the table, but for some reason, only cleared 2 out of 4 of our dishes, leaving the other 2. A few minutes later she came by to drop off the complimentary garlic bread. And it wasn't until over an hour later did our entrees finally came out. I understand the restaurant may be busy and that is of no fault of the server, however, the server should know better to come by and keep us updated of the possible long wait instead of letting us feel like she forgot to put in our food order because it took so long. It also felt like this establishment prioritize large parties over smaller parties as I noticed a large group seated after us inside, but finished before us. It wasn't until I kept looking at Danielle as she passed by to help other tables did she come by once to assure us the food is coming. Once the food arrived, I was already a bit turned off at that point. Nonetheless, the almond crusted scallops I got was decent and my boyfriend's prime rib was delish. However, my mashed potatoes was way too zesty/sour. I tried my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and while it still had a zest, it wasn't sour like mine. By this point I felt like we waited over an hour for just decent entrees and a mediocre over all experience. Since we were celebrating a birthday, Danielle was nice enough to bring a complimentary creme brûlée over for the birthday girl. We knew better and immediately asked her to bring our check out ASAP before she left again. By this point it was late and too cold to be out in the patio. We were not the last party to sit down, but due to the long wait, we were one of the last few parties to leave. It is Copper River Salmon time, and we decided to go to Clink's. A not on the menu indicated the fish was sockeye, rather than the expected king. Three of us order the salmon pan seared. Service was great and the food arrived shortly. What each of us got was a very small, thoroughly cooked thin fillet served with rice and overly cooked vegetables. (Heat lamp?) the salmon was chewy but had good flavor. The vegetables were not eaten. Everyone was in agreement that their meal was terrible. One of the best times to visit is during the lunch rush, they have really great deals. I already knew I wanted a cup of French onion soup so ordered that right away, then check out the lunch menu and went with Blueberry Chipotle BBQ ribs with a side of mac n cheese and slaw. The French onion soup was everything I remembered it to be, warm broth packed with caramelized onions topped with melted cheese and a crouton. So dang good! My favorite appetizer, the teriyaki tenderloin, was extremely salty. The pork chop was too salty as well. My son ordered the prime rib medium rare, but it came very rare. We reached out to the hostess as she passed by to ask for our server. My wife and I had almost finished eating by the time our server returned about ten minutes later. I ordered the chicken Dijon thinking it would be a breast or a thigh, but it's actually two small chicken tenderloins which were definitely deep fried not roasted. Had dinner last night 8/8/21 for our 40th anniversary. Prime rib was ordered medium and came out well. It was very chewy. Had to send it back. It came back and was served with no au jus. Had to ask waiter for it. Asiago chicken. Very bland. Not much flavor. Cheese and crab appetizer was good as well as the creme brulee. Tried to use my Landry's membership. Was told I must have card, but that I could upload copy of check and get points. Went to Landry's site and discovered that you cant upload ticket but that I could have given server my phone number so I got points. So tonight I had my last dinner here in Spokane. I graduated with my graduate degree in hand and made a reservation to treat myself with a view for dinner. I had a great view, my waitress was soooo friendly and amazing. She suggested if I wanted seafood I try the weekly menu so I selected the lobster bisque a white wine paring and the Alaskan King crab legs which were $56 dollars w charged kale and sweet potato. The bisque was really good and creamy and nice amount of lobster. The fresh bread was tasty with butter and garlic and my mouth was ready for my crab legs. As soon as they came out I was disappointed they were so thin they looked like snow crab not even as big, but really got me was the fact they smelled just like ammonia ! When I picked up the shell it was so strong I thought how could that be? I ate one and immediately I knew something was wrong. I called the manager and said you have to smell this and he said, "no I can smell this and something isn't right" I was hesitant but they immediately brought a menu and he said, "I'll take care of this" Within less than 5 min. I had my lobster tails and they were delicious. Here is why I have given a one star review. I left the Reaturant and had a pedicure downstairs. While sitting there within 10 mins I was throwing up. Now, not only sis I pay full price for my meal, I wasn't offered so much as a discount, a free desert, a drink nothing! Now I'm sick I'm moving and flying out the tomorrow morning and I paid $80 for my meal. I never expect brag restaurants are perfect things happen, but this was no little thing and this was not good customer service. I'm very disappointed that this didn't occur to anyone when someone else clearly smelled the issue and this was still charged at full price. Now I'm hoping I don't end up in urgent care tonight ! I don't need another meal at this point I won't be returning but I sure hope management takes notice to whatever this issue is. This was was a horrible experience and I really believe this crab was soaked in some kind of cleaner and I'm tempted to report this. The potatoes that were paired with the Prime Rib were undercooked while the green beans were a bit overcooked. Paired dinner with Penfold Cabernet Sauvignon (10/10).
