They have the prettiest tasting room, and it's very modern for a tasting room experience. However, their seating needs work. You order as soon as you enter and are asked to give your credit card details, but no one guides you to a seat, and the staff will make you guess which seats are okay to sit at and tell you they won't serve you until you're seated in the right area. We waited thirty minutes for two glasses of wine and a vegetable dip dish. When we went to cancel our order because of the horrible service, they hadn't even started on anything. read more

I had a reservation for a tasting here on a Saturday morning and it was perfect! You are welcomed at the entrance with a sample of wine before being walked to your table. I was celebrating my birthday and they even had a personalized menu printed out. Their outdoor area is beautiful and spread out nicely (perfect for social distancing!). Our host, Allie, walked us through the tasting and had excellent knowledge of the different varietals and even the different years of the same wine. Ask to see the map of the valley! 5/5 I chose Clos du Val for my birthday celebration with 10 of my close friends. We had 6 tasters and 4 non-tasters. They were very accommodating for a large party over the phone. I called about 25 wineries and they were like a miracle, the most accommodating and still affordable place I called. They were okay with party adjustments and didn't take payment until the day of. They cost of your tasting can also be placed into the amount it would cost for a bottle that is over the tasting fee which was awesome. Everyone bought a bottle for more bang for your buck. They also didn't make the non-tasters pay any money which was very kind. They seated us inside in a private room for just us 10 and with our tasting expert. Rob was very kind and made everyone well very welcome. They even put my name on the tasting menu as a personal touch for my birthday, truly awesome. We tasted about 6 wines for $50 per person, a great deal in Napa for a large party. They also let us go take pictures in their vineyard which was beautiful. What a beautiful winery! My friends and I came here to celebrate my birthday. We opted for the private wine "Full Circle" tasting and it was in a beautiful tasting room. It had a modern look but so elegant and classy, it had a Game of Thrones type of vibe. The views of the winery is gorgeous and so relaxing. The tasting we had were great. The wine was very smooth and I enjoyed all of it. I ended up buying a bottle of 2016 Chardonnay Gran Val and it was so worth it!! They were so kind to waive my tasting since it was my birthday. Clos Du Val was an absolutely phenomenal tasting! I tasted with a group of four earlier in the Fall during the pandemic and they had made several adaptations to their normal operations. When we arrived, we were asked to wait in our car until they were able to greet us (which happened quickly) to avoid having people wait inside. Our host gave us a brief walk through the inside (masks required) to show us around and then sat us on the patio at a lovely table with phenomenal views of the vineyard and surrounding hills. The landscaping on the property featured gorgeous greenery and a basin of water with lilypads and more. At our table, we were allowed to remove our masks. Our host was very friendly and informative and made our tasting personalized to our tastes. My parents were 2 of my guests and were celebrating their anniversary, so our host gave us a small taste of a library wine from the 1990's (when my parents were married) that was phenomenal. I also have to give Clos du Val major kudos for their food pairings-- which in and of itself would have made me want to come back. In addition to a bowl of seasoned nuts, we were offered 3 scrumptious shortbread cookies, each topped with a variety of cheeses, grains, jams, etc. and pulled together in such a way that the entire bite was dynamic in and of itself, but also paired well with the wines and accentuated various notes we were tasting. Some of the shortbread toppings included apricot jams and chocolatey bacon and holy cow-- it was just so good. The experience was paced well and relaxed, with the host being present enough to help answer our questions and ensure we weren't waiting on him, but with enough time to sip our wines and really savor the tasting. At the end of our tasting, our host even noticed that we were taking a few photos with the vineyards in the background and he even went as far as to show us some great spots for photos (like with the Magnolia tree framing the shot with vineyards behind us) and took a family photo for all of us. We keep coming back and bringing new friends because of the excellent service we always receive from Sarah Muran (Estate Host). She's very knowledgeable about the wines Clos du Val has to offer and outside wines as well. She's always friendly, cheerful and just an easy person to get along with. We now look at her like one of our daughters. If you ever visit Clos du Val (which I highly recommend), ask for Sarah to be your server. You won't be disappointed. Definitely not like most wineries in Napa County where wine tasting is done standing or sitting at a bar. In Clos Du Val, they take it to a more personal level where they sit you at a well decorated and cozy table and your somelier sits with you, introduces and pours the wine and, of course, gets to know ya! When we arrived, we were welcomed with a nice glass of white wine and a personalized wine tasting menu. I can't remember the name of our host, but my friend thinks his name is Craig...sorry, we were too tipsy to remember, haha JK. He is absolutely amazing! He gave us a mini tour of where they carry wine barrels and explained each wine very well. We could really tell he had a passion for wine. Unlike some other wineries that are catered more to tourists, Clos Du Val makes you feel so welcomed and at home! Oh yeah, and those breadsticks on the table...man those were great with the wines. For $45 per person for a tasting, we all thought it was worth it and said that we would definitely come back to Clos Du Val the next time we go to Napa. Omg horrible experience unless you're sitting on the inside. If you're sitting in the back (the garden), you're going to get just be on these cheap outdoor dining tables and you're sitting next to outdoor bathrooms. The lady that was helping us in front was also very rude. She didn't greet us at all, and when we asked her a recommendation on the wine all she said was "i don't know. It just depends what you like". Of course, it's based on what we like, but we wanted to know if there was something they are known for. Came with a group of 6 ladies on a Saturday during brunch time and we were joyfully welcomed right away with a pour of chardonnay and it was perfect because the weather was 85*Fahrenheit outside. The interior & tasting room was beautiful with outdoor view. In my opinion, Clos Du Val produces one of the best Pinot I've ever tasted (comparing it to my wine tasting experiences in Sienna, Italy, Franschhoek, South Africa, & Spain). We all loved the wines. I don't typically like merlot but I enjoyed the merlot here. Our host, Luis was very nice. We will definitely come back another time. This is a beautiful space with a small vineyard (not sure if there's a bigger one in the back). The wines were pretty delicious, especially their $100 cabs that we tried. However, at $50 per person for a tasting of four very small pours, the service did not meet my expectation. Prior to coming here, we filled out a questionnaire describing what sort of service we were looking for, and I had put down "wine talk". There was none of that. Our server simply poured the wine and said which one on the list it was, and left. They weren't super busy that day, either. I tried to describe how I felt about the wine in an attempt to get her to say more, but to no avail. If you are a member here, maybe you will be treated with more attentive service. But I didn't enjoy our time here enough to want to be a member. The comp (buy a bottle to cover your tasting fee) was nice, and so were the free breadsticks, but when I go to a winery, I am hoping for a bit more than what I could easily replicate at home. read more

We had reservations for the 4 wine tasting; 1 Rose and 3 Reds. We've done wine tasting before but Victor truly showed up how to savor and experience our red wines. We recently came to Clos du Val. The property is stunning. The service was meh. But our biggest issue was the misleading advertisement for the wines by the glass experience we booked. Online it appears you can have a glass of wine at their property for $10pp. I booked this for my husband and I along with a crudité for $34. Upon arriving I was advised that this was just a "corking" fee and kind of like held our spot for their most popular experience. We still had to pay for a glass of wine. The $20 was not applied to the glasses of wine we purchased. This is not disclosed on their website and is very misleading. We ended up paying around $90 for 2 "glasses" of wine. I wouldn't recommend based on a lack of transparency and pretty much deception as far as I'm concerned. The staff we advised of our issue were not helpful and insisted it was just to hold our spot. They need to update their messaging for this experience so others aren't duped (see image). read more
