    Spring Mix Quinoa Salad
    Darlene A.

This is such a nice little spot for a Saturday breakfast! It has a really welcoming vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating options. We wanted something light and fresh for breakfast, so heres what we ordered: * Spring Mix Quinoa: It's a bed of spring salad mix with quinoa and fresh sliced avocados. It was incredibly refreshing and delicious. The dressing wasn't too heavy or overpowering, but it tied the whole bowl together perfectly. * Berry Mix Yogurt & Granola Bowl: Simple, but done right. the berries were super fresh & I loved that the granola mix had walnuts in it The service was quick and friendly, which made our experience great. If you are looking for a nice breakfast spot in Davis this is the place to go.

    Parisian hot cocoa

A DELICIOUS cup of hot cocoa. Perfectly hit the spot. Quite literally the best hot chocolate ever. I got one that came only in a small size, it's very very rich but absurdly smooth and oh so good. I don't know how they made it but it's what I would expect a chocolate in Paris to taste like. I am so glad I went! Definitely a more iffy part of town, I didn't feel safe walking by myself at night- not easy parking but part of the journey getting to hidden gems!

Avo Toast and Banana Almond Butter toast
    Lindsey L.

This was my first time here and the food was good! Between my friend and I, we got the matcha latte and the caramel macchiato, and the avo toast and the banana almond butter toast. The avo toast was good but our orders were nothing too special. The drinks were also ok! Service was lovely and food came out really fast. I also really enjoyed the separation of spaces for conversations and working locations. The cafe was very chill and is a great place to catch up with some friends.

Friendly staff and quaint cafe. Mostly vegetarian choices on menu of salads and sandwiches. Enjoyed fresh mozzarella and red pepper sandwich with lettuce on ciabatta with scoop of potato salad. Celebrated an early Mother's Day with my eldest who attends UCD. Can't wait to return again. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

D STREET BRIE!!!! Love it! The right amount of warm savoury cheese with the sweet jam! Great stuff! Love the environment too! Great for lunch and conversation with friends!!! Owners are so nice toooo!

    No wifi just conversations!
    Arianne G.

Let me first say, how much I loved their customer service here. It felt like a local spot where the baristas made conversations that are not quick "how's your day going." As for the food? My husband and I made a mistake of order 2 brie and fig sandwiches (bacon & turkey) thinking we could finish it in one sitting! It was so delicious and so so filling. The fig was a bit sweet but I would still go back for this. We wanted to see which one we prefer by taking half and I definitely recommend the turkey one. This place does not have any wifi and since this is in Davis I felt that it was perfect since college life is a go go go. This place felt like it's where you slow down time and be in the moment. Looking around it was nothing but conversations. Such an amazing ambiance for catching up.

Their drinks and some of their paninis are ok, but their breakfast panini with bacon is amazing! Probably one of the best breakfast items I've had in Davis and it's the reason I come back to this cafe. Only downside is that they stop selling it at 11:30 :( The people who work at the cafe are very nice and I love the cozy vibe the cafe has!

I think they remodeled? not too confident but super cute cafe, I appreciate the section they have where you aren't allowed to sit with laptops/ipads and are only meant to be used for dining and conversing (bring back cafes where you just sit and talk !!!). Pink lady juice was delicious!

Food is so good, the cafe vibe is also awesome. People here are rly friendly too!! One of my fav places in downtown Davis

    Brie Sandwich
    Cameron C.

Their food is stupendous! This was our third time eating there. I freaking love the Brie sandwich. Their food feels and tastes healthy but filling. I love the interior's decorative features. They have many pieces of art on display and for sale. Overall a friendly gem that we will be returning to shortly.

The menu selection is quite overwhelming with choices, but having the variety is great! We each ordered something savory and I ordered a dessert crepe too. I was going to get it to go, but they don't do "make later" orders when it is busy. We sat outside and it took longer than we expected to get our food (30 minutes from when we walked in the door to when we got our food). It all came out appropriately hot, so it was fine. And we were there to chat and catch up, so it worked out. The dessert crepe came out hot so we ended I'm eating that first!! Life is too short to not eat the good stuff first. Hahahah. I ordered the chicken curry crepe with a salad and it did not disappoint. I ate half and saved the second half for dinner. The salad dressing was VERY light. My gf ordered a sandwich and soup. She ended up taking the soup home. The cinnamon roll crepe was DELICIOUS. Sweet, crunchy and hot. Yum. If I come ba k to Crepeville, I will probably try something different - there are so many choices!!! Overall a great dining and eating experience.

There is a lot of table space in the cafe and when UC Davis is in session, I've found many of the tables to be occupied by students doing just that. Mishka's Cafe has been around since 1995 and is a beloved place in Davis. It's a traditional cafe that has a welcoming atmosphere. When you first walk into the cafe you'll see the food case just to your left. It is filled with cafe items such as croissants, muffins, and cookies. There are savory items as well as sweet. I found the quality of the food here to be quite good and unique. Sometimes cafe food just feels like it came from somewhere else, but even if these did, they have a uniqueness about them. For example, the chocolate croissant is very flakey with a good amount of chocolate in the interior. It really surprised me! I also found the ham and cheese croissant to be very rich in flavor. My only gripe about either or these items was the heating method. I'm not sure how they are heated up, but they feel as though they used one of those quick heaters to quickly get them ready rather than a good toaster to get the items nice and crisp. As good as they are they were a bit limp due to the heating method. In terms of coffee, it's perfectly adequate. They have special offerings as well as their traditional menu. I found the coffee to be mild and friendly. It's not too strong nor very unique. It's just a solid cup. Sometimes that's really all you need.

He was moving extremely fast and quoting exaggerated wait times, which was off-putting and set an awkward tone at the start. That said, everything quickly changed once Nadia took over as our server. She was absolutely amazing from the very beginning. Even though the restaurant was busy and the food took some time to come out--which was understandable--Nadia communicated with us throughout the wait and checked in often to make sure everything was running smoothly. When the food arrived, she was fast, efficient, and impressive. I was genuinely surprised by how many plates one person could carry. She was warm, welcoming, and an absolute sweetheart who made us feel right at home and completely turned the experience around. Overall, we left happy and full. Love the theme inside the restaurant, felt as if I were in a cabin with all the cute bear decor. Even the menu matched the theme since they were meant to be like newspapers. Specials are available too. There was quite an extensive menu of brunch, lunch, and everything in between. I love that there was a section of light bites as I wasn't really hungry. I opted for the one of the light entrees and it came with 2 strips of bacon, eggs, broccoli, and bread. Everything was cooked just right, not too greasy or dry. I had a few bites of the onion rings, and that was great too. Service was fine and as expected. Ample parking in the lot or street parking. Overall, I had a great impression of Black Bear Diner and would be open to checking out their other locations closer to home. #32/2025

The rack of lamb was cooked correctly but lacked character. Lamb should taste like lamb, and this one played it too safe. Not bad, just forgettable. The vegetables let the plate down.
