Saw that this place replaced the Filipino Restaurant and I love wings so wanted to try it out. Lovely family run restaurant with great service. They gave me a sample chicken tender which was fresh, not too salty or greasy and also not from frozen. I didn't notice any seasoning on the lemon pepper but the chicken wings were tasty on their own. Again, not greasy but wish they were bigger...got mostly flats. Almost missed the location because of my navigation but then saw the flag in front of the restaurant. A little unassuming place and it was empty. It's. Mom and Pop shop with simple tables and chairs. Was surprised with the amount of food. I ordered the combo which came with two pieces of cod, three pieces of shrimp, chicken strips, hush puppies, coleslaw and fries. Stopped in today because I love to try new places and I love a good chicken sandwich. On that front, they score pretty high. That being said, there are a few areas which could use improvement. First and foremost, turn on the AC! It's 80 degrees outside today, but felt like 95-100 in the restaurant. It's a very small space and those deep fryers don't help. Next, if you can't turn on the AC, at least figure out a better ventilation system. The odor of fish grease is heavy in the air the second you walk in and an hour later I can still smell it in my clothes. While the ladies there are very kind and friendly, they are not easy to understand. I had to seek clarification on the same question about the sides at least 5 times. Eventually, I just gave up and hoped for the best that I would get what I ordered. I did, so no problems there. At $15 for a chicken sandwich, I would hope they could afford to hire a fluent English speaker to work the register for minimum wage (or one sandwich per hour). And if you're going to utilize a payment system which asks for a tip up front, and that person tips, it's better practice to just walk 15 feet and bring the order to the customer's table instead of making them come to the counter. As far as the food goes, the chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful. What it was not, was crunchy. Other folks tastes may differ, but I prefer a good crunch on my tenders. Next time I'll specify when I order. Also, why use 3 strips instead of one whole breast? Tender sandwiches tend to fall apart easily and are bulkier and therfore harder to eat. I ended up having to eat one of the tenders a la carte. The coleslaw was excellent. Obviously, this is a new place and I believe had a lot of potential. Decided to check out this place on a whim since there was a menu at my front doorstep. Was feeling wings and comfort food today, so checked it out. Learned from the staff that the chicken is freshly made, and the chicken is pretty good when I started digging in. The prices for a 10 piece with a side and veggie option for 18 bucks was reasonable for me. The staff is the star of the show. The ladies who are working the front are so nice and are doing their best to make me feel welcome and have confidence in their cooking. My sister and I shared the giant prawns combo and we couldn't even eat it all! The portions were a good size. Our sons each got the 8 piece chicken combo. All combos come with fries and an extra side. We had fried mushrooms, hush puppies and onion rings. The mushrooms and hush puppies were really good. I didn't get to taste the onion rings. This place is a hidden gem. The 2 ladies when entering were very welcoming and helpful. Explained their menu options and there so many different choices. My family and I got the fried fish (cod), tenders, kids chicken nuggets, and wings meal. We dined in as there were tables to sit down as a family. The portions were so huge, we couldn't finish it all but so delicious! The spicy Cajun sauce was my favorite dip and the mint one was very unique and great! Located where Johannes Hot Dogs was previously. Had wings in two flavors--Lemon Petter and "Hot" (standard Buffalo). I was also provided a free chicken stip as a sample. All the chicken was delicious and among the best "fast food" chicken I've had. The wings were cooked just right: crisp skin but juicy inside. The strip was white meat that was also cooked perfectly. Flavoring was just right for my taste. The Lemon Pepper sauce/spice was zesty and not greasy, as it is in many wing locations. The Buffalo had heat, but didn't leave your lips burning. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I've read the review that they are not understandable and that they should hire someone who speaks English. They speak with a somewhat heavy accent (Indian, I would guess), but they certainly do speak English. Have a little patience, these folks are working hard and trying. Only downside was the fish oil smell that hits you when you walk in the door which, for me, was off-putting and almost made me leave without trying the chicken. I feared the chicken would taste as if it were cooked in the same oil as the fish. Not so. No hint of a fishy flavor at all. There were flies also. My husband and I had the combination plate 3 prawns, fish, fries and vegetables. They really give a lot of food for the price! I had sole my husband had cod, both were very hot, tasty, seasoned and quality fish! I had zucchini my husband had mushrooms again very fresh and well prepared! I've come here a few times and I've enjoyed all of the meals my son and I have ordered. The fish and chips I ordered was the cod and the pollock along with the large prawns and choice of veggie and fries. The portions are really big (can share with another person) and the chicken wings my son ordered had the right amount of sauces. Love the fried mushrooms out of all the sides, but broccoli and onions rings are just as good. I suggest ordering and eating at the restaurant as they cook to order and is hot and fresh when served. We ordered a 2-Piece Cod, 3 prawns & fries for the first meal- I was pleasantly surprised at how big the prawns were and the food smelled appetizing in the car, but when we got home and began to taste everything, I was thoroughly disappointed with the flavor of everything, the fried prawn had no salt or flavor in the batter and the prawn tasted like how a old cabinet smells, I tasted the fries which looked good but were underneath the fish which made them sweat and they didn't taste good at all, my side was Hushpuppies which didn't taste good either they were missing good seasoning & herbs, this tasted like box mix from an old cabinet. Was excited to see a new place in Fairfield serving fish and chicken. The good is the service and the portion size. I think some things they can improve are the batter and seasoning on the fish. I order the cod and it was crispy on the outside but gummy on the inside I couldn't eat most of it. They should offer alternative seasoning like a Cajun corn meal fry rather than only a wet batter. I feel like that would be much better on the fish. The veggies were hot and fresh. Also they should make homemade tarter sauce that would take it up a level and not put the fries under the fish they just became soggy. The women inside we're friendly and it was clean.
