Shannah is truly one of the best yoga teachers I have ever had. Go take a class with Shannah and thank me later. She also offers a yoga retreat which I was fortunate enough to go on this year. I appreciate that they offered this class on election night for free and that they did not insist on a complicated registration process, just advertising on their Insta and encouraging folks to show up. The turnout was perhaps more than anticipated, and while the teacher was able to strategically make space for everyone who wanted to attend, things were a bit cramped, which made it a little less relaxing than I expected, but the teacher was great and it was still helpful to do the postures. The studio has beautiful hardwood floors, plants and is nicely decorated. It's in a part of the building that is used for the winter farmers market, so if you are used to coming to the market, this should be easy to find. I will definitely keep this studio on my yoga radar and check their class schedule for other community offerings and special pop ups. I don't think I am likely to visit regularly though because the parking situation is rough with limited street parking.

The studio has big beautiful windows that face Carpenter St which provide excellent natural light and sometimes some entertainment when a fire truck goes by, for example. There are also doors that lead out from the studio here that have a sign out front telling you this is West Side Yoga, but you cannot enter the building through those doors. The entrance is actually around the side on Battey St, the second door. There are quite the diversity of instructors that teach here which means you are definitely going to find someone that really clicks for you. I highly recommend Danielle, her energy is incredible and she will kick your butt in a good way. The best way to stay up to date with their classes is on the MINDBODY app. You can see who is teaching and when, and reserve a spot. The classes after 5pm tend to fill up super quick so definitely look ahead a few days if that's what works for your schedule. Lastly, West Side Yoga has an unbeatable new student deal. It's currently you can get 30 days of classes for only $30! They will be closed the week after 4th of July and they are extending all new students who already started their 30 for 30 for an extra week. This definitely speaks to how great this business is.

Not only are the aesthetics of Santosha immediately calming, but I have always felt welcomed and accepted by the teachers and staff. The front desk employees have consistently been pleasant and helpful--and often drop into the class themselves after everyone is checked in. All of the instructors I've met thus far have been highly knowledgeable, warm and compassionate. Overall, they have balanced explaining poses, breath work and technical aspects of practice with essential core concepts for understanding and deepening one's yoga practice. All of the classes I've attended have been inviting, honest and uphold the true meaning of yoga--unity. I've especially enjoyed the "Energy Healing Clinics" offered monthly (I think it's monthly anyway)--$5 donation for quick Reiki sessions and other energy healing practices. Santosha offers a discount for students as well as military personnel which I think is great--a way to increase accessibility to yoga. The only downside to this studio is that there are relatively few classes offered each week. Nonetheless, Santosha is a wonderful oasis and a hidden gem of Cranston for sure. I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Stop deleting my review to try and silence me. I will keep reposting it…read more Would not recommend this place to anyone. I regret saying I took my first ever reformer Pilates class here and had the worst experience. I took Andi's class. I read her bio on the website and was excited seeing she was also a yoga instructor (yoga is a big part of my life) and very experienced. I arrived to the studio a little nervous as I'm brand new to reformer Pilates and did the class by myself. (I booked a class described as beginner friendly) I entered the building and she looked me up and down and turned away from me to go back to talking to the other 4 girls who were there for the class. They clearly all knew each other and were regulars to this class. She didn't say a single word to me. I had never been to this studio and had no idea what to do. I spotted a wall of cubbies that I walked over to, and put my stuff down. She stopped her conversation (gossiping about another Pilates instructor) to say "is this your first class" in a very annoyed, condescending tone. I said yes and she told me I needed grip socks, if I didn't have any to go bare foot. And returned back to the gossip with the other girls. This attitude / tone of voice continued as she briefly explained the reformer and walked away. I wasn't welcomed, asked for my name, asked if I needed any help, shown around the studio, nothing. I felt like a nuisance for being there. I felt like I was back in high school and this was the click of mean girls. Mid class she called me out to fix my form "Allie, is it?" Again very condescending. Yes, considering you know every other girl here, that's my name. You would know if you had welcomed me and introduced yourself. At the end of class there wasn't a single word as I quickly grabbed my things and left. Spent $40 to be treated like dog shit. Really sad that this place lives up to the "stuck up mean girl" stereotype around Pilates. Do better. It's a shame because the studio is beautiful and I would have loved to be a regular here. But this place will never get my money again. I follow their instagram and this instructor is always looking for clients to fill up her classes. You can't run a female dominated business and be a mean girl.
