I work in the area and have friends and family around Lanham. The setting is casual and relaxed and clean! The people were really friendly; you can tell they care...and they bring the food to your table. It's a welcome surprise these days...at least around here it seems. Service 5 Stars. Setting 4 Stars. (basic shopping center, clean inside, 2 flat screens, casual, nothing fancy) Food: Portions are nice size. Wings & Boneless Tenders were good, they have lots of different sauces, my fav is the Caribbean Jerk sauce. It's spicy! Two things really get me salivating though... 1. The BBQ Ranch Wrap with Grilled Chicken 5 Stars it's just stuffed with grilled chicken. 2. Jumbo Fried Shrimp 5 Stars! Best I've ever had. That was a surprise. I ordered wings and chicken bites and asked for the sauce on the side. When I arrived to pick up my order I was given two small containers of the sauce. When I requested one more sauce I was told no unless I purchase it. I explained that I was given far less sauce than it requires to smother the chicken in the sauce and couldn't understand charging me more for what I would have received if i wanted the sauce on my wings. Where this became horrible was when the lady who took my order no longer wanted to hear me so she gave me another sauce. But she gave me a sauce that was extremely hot. She did this to get back at me and did not tell me or label what she did. I gave the sauce to my 7 year old daughter not knowing what had been done and she began crying and screaming from this extremely hot sauce that was intended for me. This is absolutely deplorable. I do not stand for anyone hurting my children and will be following up with the corporate office. But to think this was done because I asked for an additional sauce. Additional sauce that would have been included at no extra cost if I had had my chicken smothered in it. Foods great, the chicken is legit, although a little bigger than wings from competitors. The sauces, well that's why we come to these wing joints right? Cluck U chicken is about the best wings you can have in this area. Add on the novelty of the 911 wings, and this place is also a pretty good place to entertain (younger) out of town guests. Imagine my surprise after driving to 2 closed (as in closed up shop for good) Cluck-U's to find this one still in operation! Sometimes when you crave something, you just have to have it. Fried chicken is like that. I don't want it all the time, but when I do, I really want it. Fortunately, there are places that you can go to other than KFC or Popeye's. One of those places is Cluck U chicken. I was surprised the first time I tried this place. I was half expecting the chicken to be processed like at McDonald's or Burger King etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, piping hot, and super affordable. My favorite thing to get here is the "boomers". That is Cluck U speak for "chicken fingers". The "boomers" are always awesome. Crispy breading, perfectly seasoned, and juicy chicken on the inside. Since these are chicken fingers, they are boneless and you can just stuff your face without worrying about bones and gristle. So good! One of the things I really like about Cluck U is that their breading is the perfect thickness. It's not like at Popeyes where the breading is too thick and it takes away from the taste of the chicken. These guys totally get it right! Also, I have noticed that the chicken is never overly greasy. Nothing is more of a turn off then super greasy chicken. The side dishes are really good too. I love the mashed potatoes and gravy. I almost never get anything else as a side, although I think their mac&cheese, french fries etc. are also pretty good. It seems so simple. Fried chicken and side dishes that are good and delicious. But, other places just can't seem to pull it off like this. With the choice of custom sauces and different levels of heat, Cluck U is hitting a homerun. Highly recommended! read more

On to the service issues: Every time I go ( at least once a month and spend about $50.00 each visit ), Unless I check my order, more often than not, I'm missing something. Chip and the staff are great. Chip is a local dude from the area that supports community service. He runs this place like its an old local family business. He occassionally offers free samples and even prepares meals for me without batter when Im on the Atkins Diet or whatever. They recently incorporated Karaoke nights on Tuesday. Food is good nice atmosphere and they deliver. Staff is always so friendly you always feel like you should tip. Kudos to Chip and staff. Many other Cluck U restaurants in the area have closed. We lived in this area a while ago, and stopped ordering from them because even though the food was good, they never got the order right and several times, the sauces spilled in the bag making a huge mess and leaving us sauceless. Despite several calls, the poor service continued to happen, and the folks on the phone were usually rude. We eventually moved to Laurel and stayed there for four years until we moved back to this area again. Not long after we moved in, we somewhat reluctantly decided to give Cluck-U another try- so glad we did. I can't believe the turn-around this business has made! We've ordered twice now and the food has been correct and delicious both times, and the deliveries have been early or within the promised timeframe. When they had a question about our order, the person who called was SO polite, I was very impressed. I hope that this change is permanent because it makes for a great customer experience. Delicious! I order the wings naked and extra fried because I like them extra crispy. I get their atomic or nuclear sauce. Mmmm!! If I'm not in the mood for bones, I order the boneless ones. Their shrimp are huge. My friends love them fried but I order them grilled without the extra seasoning and OOOHHH MYYY love them!!!! My other favorite is their Jalapeño Poppers!!!!!!!! Since several people in my office love this place and it had such great reviews on Yelp, and since I didn't feel like going out to pick up lunch and they do deliver, I thought I'd give them a try. I doubt I'll do it again, but if I do I know what I WON'T get. They do have online ordering, which I love. Really, why doesn't every place have this by now? They do charge a delivery fee of $2 and some change, but it was worth it to not have to leave my office. After I placed my order, I got a confirmation saying it would be delivered ASAP (which I requested), which stated a time 1 hour after I placed my order. ONE HOUR. OK, but what to do? I'd already placed the order (by the way, if you're paying by credit card you have to tip up front when you place the order if you want the tip on the card, as they can't run it a second time), so I figured I wasn't going to starve to death while I waited. It actually only took about 45 minutes, so they were a little ahead of their projected schedule. The smell from the bag was mouth watering, so I was SOOO looking forward to digging in. Alas, I was to be disappointed when my jumbo shrimp were soggy and luke-warm, not at all crispy as I had so imagined they would be, and the mac and cheese was inedible. I don't know what kind of seasonings they use, but they really need to leave them out, it ruined the taste of the cheese. So this lunch was less than satisfying. Now with that said, everyone else raves about their wings (but they also raved about the shrimp), so MAYBE someday I'll give them a try, or maybe one of their sandwiches or salads. This is actually my favorite CUC and I've been to several locations in Maryland. That said, the fried shrimp are awesome! They are large and the batter is tasty without being too think you have to search for the shrimp. I do wish they had kept the homemade cocktail sauce instead of the pre-package kind but it's not a deal breaker. The French fries and chicken wings are always cooked to perfection. My favorite flavors are old Bay (must like salt for this flavor) and the Nuclear sauce ( a bit of heat but not spicy). The honey bees (biscuits) are also delicious. Give it a try. read more

Ok... Two stars... Here's my brief story. Ordered online--18 pc. jumbo wingers. 2 sides, 5 "biscuits". Drove to the location. Cashier handed me my food, but didn't notice I'd not paid. I told him I needed to pay, and asked if they'd included the hot sauce on the side I requested. I ordered 1/2 with garlic parm and half plain w/nuke on the side. He assured me that the nuclear sauce was in the bag. Drove 4.4 miles back to my hotel and opened the bag only to find that they'd forgotten to add the hot sauce. I only ordered it in the side because I've found that breaded wings get soggy when they are packed up in a non-porous material like styrofoam. To my dismay the garlic parm wing were slightly soggy but good... They were decent and tasty. The plain wings were also good, even though they'd sat in styrofoam, and in a stapled paper bag--the were crisp and cooked absolutely perfect... But the fact that I didn't have hot sauce ruined it for me. I didn't call right then because it's not like the biggest deal...and, I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes to drive back to the place--and back to the Marriott. I'm giving two stars because I had specifically asked about the sauce... And the wings, however good, are just kinda blah without the sauce. It was kinda early and slow, so I get it... Moral of the story: open the bag and verify you've gotten what you asked for... Everywhere. read more

This is one of my favorite places for fried chicken. I usually go to the one in Pennsylvania, near my daughters college campus, and the people are always nice and the food and beer is delicious...yes, they deliver beer! Delivery here in Maryland was actually 30 minutes early, the delivery guy was very nice, and the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Hands down the best wings I have had in MD! Honestly if there a better place, with faster service, and staff that makes you always feels welcome I haven't found it. Anytime I go in the time from when you order to when the food is given is usually under 5 to 10 min, and not a long wait for how fresh the food is. The wings are huge, and whenever I order delivery they always deliver faster than the estimate. I get the 12 Mild Wings with some cheese sticks and never regret it. I have only slightly changed up my order with my appetizers to the Old Bay fries.. as they are my guilty pleasure. By far my favorite place to get Old Bay wings. I get them Naked (makes me feel less guilty if they're not breaded lol) and well done, they always come out perfect! Since I dont go often I took a look at pics and reviews before trying it again last week after quite some time but I was highly disappointed. I made an online order and it was prepared timely upon arrival and customer service was okay - so no cons there. The food is where I met my issue. I ordered the chicken sandwich w garlic sauce, boneless buffalo wings, and fries. The sandwich was more like a grilled mozzarella cheese sandwich with a fried chicken breast in the middle - no lettuce, no tomatoe... just too cheesy and heavy for my preference. I also did not enjoy the "bone less wings" which are chicken tender pieces cut in half. The chicken pieces are huge! Again, overall I think their food is just too heavy and meaty for my preference.
