The customer success team can never actually help you and if you have a problem you have to fill out a form. You will get a reply but never be able to actually talk to a human about the problem. I selected Clutter as my moving company after a quick Google search. The movers, Jordan and LaJay, exceeded my expectations. Their communication was very clear, their packing and moving were very efficient, and best of all, their energy was welcoming and friendly. I'd recommend these two to anyone! Today was moving day, and I was excited for clutter to arrive... until I wasn't... Long story short, when you do the walk through online and list all items that they are initially moving out of your home, the idea would be they're responsible for bringing the correct tools and space in truck. However, that wasn't the case. A portion of the truck was available for my full-size 1bdrm apartment. Only my table, some chairs, and 1 rocking chair would fit. On top of that, they had other items from 2 other customers in their truck. Cross contaminating my items. I'm not sure how others live to feel comfortable enough to have my items mixed with others on the same truck, NONE of that is in the contract, BTW. Drivers were great, but their company sets them up for failure. Customer service sucks, and dispatch sucks. The whole company is fraudulent at this point. Unfortunately, I had to fire them due to false advertising and lack of space even though I did the walk thru and had to explain all the items that I was taking. They do not care if they damage your things. If they do damage, your reimbursement will not cover the cost to replace your damaged item. This is a large company that hides behind corporate lawyers to make sure they have no liability for your things. I recommend looking elsewhere for movers or storage, I mean, would you take the risk? Full story below. Clutter damaged many items during my move and refused to pay for it. I filed a claim for $3,974.10 to replace the damaged items. Clutter responded with a reimbursement offer of approx. $650. When I booked my move with Clutter I made it clear that I needed 3 movers minimum because I had a few very heavy items. They did not send 3 people they only sent 2. I told the movers not to attempt picking up the heavy items with just the two of them but they ignored me. I told them to call for another mover to help but they ignored me. I watched the two movers attempt to pick up a very heavy table top made of marble and they dropped it on the floor. This cracked my table down the middle and damaged my floor. The same thing happened with a heavy bookcase which they broke the legs off when they dropped it. They left the broken bookcase for me to deal with and I had to hire someone else to come and help me throw it out. Many of my boxes labeled FRAGILE in bold letters were smashed in. These boxes had broken dishware, appliances and frames. After they broke a few things in front of me, they finally called for backup and two more movers showed up but it was too late. They left broken items and trash all over my apartment in a rush to leave. Unbelievably unprofessional. Clutter responded to my emails and complaints by saying that I had signed the contract with the "Limited Security Protection". HOWEVER, they voided the protection waiver when they sent only 2 movers and I had requested 3. If they had sent 3 (at least) they would not have dropped my expensive table or my bookcase. Therefore, the "Limited Security Protection" was voided. They broke my things right in front of me due to breaking their contract, I should be compensated for their mistake in order to replace those items. read more

They make it next to impossible to get your stuff back. Avoid like the plague. This is an unethical company. Only movers are permitted into their warehouse area, and they permit a 1 day pickup window over very limited hours, Monday to thu only. Most national movers require a 3 day window with confirmation 48 hours in advance. Their 1 day reservation policy effectively means you can't get your stuff out for a long distance move with a national mover. Currently preparing to take legal action against them. Update: The poor employee from Clutter that responded to this review direct messaged me. I provided details as requested but no follow up or resolution. Used their 'packing' and storage service and when clutter says 'packing' they mean randomly throwing fragile items into boxes without any wrap. They damaged my 1) bedside lamps 2) digital scale 3) wall art frame and completely lost my knoll office chair I just purchased a couple of months ago which I paid $380. They also don't document and (although they are supposed to) and say "it wasn't documented so we have to deny your claim." What kind of company is that? I thought I'd save some money by going to clutter but nope. They will waste your time, money and stress you out. DO NOT USE THEM. For those considering to do a long distance move after using the storage, ask around. Many top rated companies I called said they don't wanna work with clutter since their operation is terrible. Update: Upon delivery of my stored items, I discovered that they completely broke my Yamaha digital piano. Accidents happen, I suppose, but the problem is the people in the claims department offered next to nothing in terms of compensation. This piano cost $2,000 and they are only offering $95 in compensation! They even acknowledged that the damage may have been due to "willful misconduct or gross negligence," yet still won't offer fair compensation. Unbelievable. The company's primary function is to take care of your items, and they failed at this function. Do not use Clutter. Clearly they did not train their staff adequately to package and load items, and what's worse is they don't care when your damage amounts to thousands of dollars. They also broke my glass lamp. They barely wrapped it in a thin layer of bubble wrap, then placed it loose in a box, and it shattered. The lamp is worth over $200 and Clutter offered $12 as compensation. Laughable. read more

I used Clutter when the pandemic first hit and stored with them for about 2 years. The moving team was incredibly fast, efficient, and communicative. Dispatch gave me a window of 7am-10am and I was alerted that the team was on their way around 6:45am. Once James and Gustavo arrived they were friendly, professional, and very helpful. Seriously stay away! Absolutely horrible experience using Clutter for moving locally from old home to new home. 1. Careless handling of furniture: No edge protectors were used for any furniture (Their website clearly mentioned that edge protective would be used for all furniture). This caused damages to the edges of several costly furniture. 2. Untrained movers: Some of the movers were clearly very untrained, and were careless in handling costly furniture. A costly dresser was moved out of the house as is without any covering (not even wrapped in blankets). This caused several damages to the item (one leg broken, various scratches along the edges, one edge fully damaged). 3. Even the flooring that was recently changed in the home was damaged during the move. In total, 5-6 costly items were damaged, including: - Bedroom dresser (moved out without any packaging/wrapping) - Night Stand - An outdoor swing - A large TV stand - one leg was fully broken - Large Dining Table - Coffee Table - Flooring in the house Initially 3 movers came in the morning. TWENTY DOLLARS! - Glass on coffee table chipped - Media stand dented and scratched along the front - Walls scratched and dented - Items in drawers and cabinets straight up left behind - Screws from bed missing and half assembled Clutter was notified about all of this (Olivia - I'm coming for you girl). All positive attitudes and smiles. They took great care of our items and were extremely trustworthy. James Keomanichanh and Antoine Henderson were amazing movers - they showed up on time, were super chill, and finished in record time. Half an hour for 9 boxes and 2 dressers!! Clutter has been the cheapest and most efficient service I've used so far. I love how there's no surprise moving fees, how the app/site tells me how much more space I can fill in my storage unit, to even the little details like "track when your movers arrive" or "your team has been working x minutes". I had my stuff delivered today. The crew of three men was very hardworking and efficient. My only problem with Clutter is with the support telephone number. Each and every time I called, I would hold on the phone for almost an hour and once the agent would answer the phone, it was an Indian person who was extremely hard to impossible to understand. I had done my research and thought that Clutter was worth trying given that among the 1 star reviews there also seemed to be many 5 star reviews. Clutter did not show up the day we had scheduled our move. 2 hours after they said they would arrive, they called to say they would not be able to make it. This was on a Sunday. They told us that their next availability would be the following weekend. They were apologetic, and obviously left us in a huge bind given we were supposed to vacate our apartment two days later. We had to change our move out date, negotiate with our landlord, etc. When they came the next weekend, they brought an extra person to help us move, as a good will gesture given their inability to show up the prior weekend which we appreciated. The move took way longer than the estimate, and we ended up being charged for the extra person, and had to call them to speak with the manager (waited on hold etc) to get that fixed. Overall just not worth the headache. I'm sure many of the individual movers people have mentioned in the reviews are wonderful, but it feels like the company itself is too busy and disorganized to provide reliable service unfortunately. read more

Terrible service, enormous rates, impossible to get ahold of a real person, and no communication skills. I contacted them 48.5 hours before my pick up window (10:30am 2 days prior to an 11am pick up) to change my appointment. Additionally, I contacted them once the day before that (3 days prior). I had sent them an email and did not hear from them by 10:30am the next day (they claim they open at 5am, so they had plenty of time to read my email). When I finally got ahold of them at 10:30am, they notified me that I couldn't change my appointment, so I asked them to cancel it via their chat service. This was still the conversation PRIOR to 48 hours in advance. They claim that I was past the 48 hour window (which I was not) and charged me $100. They incorrectly charged me $100 for cancelling in the appropriate window. I filed a claim and it was denied because they just said I was past the window. Again, I was not. 5 years ago, this was a human-centered moving company with decent prices. Today, their prices skyrocketed, you can't ahold of a real person, their customer service team lacks basic communication skills, and they don't follow their own rules that they create (48 hour cancellation policy). The only benefit to my experience with Clutter is that since I will never use them again, I found a family owned moving company that did an amazing job for half the price, and on very short notice. There are many moving companies that actually care about you and your experience, and Clutter is not one of them. I wish I had checked back and read reviews before booking with them again, because it's gone downhill the last year. Not sure if there's a change in management but its unfortunate. We hired Clutter before the pandemic and had our stuff in storage for 20 months. When I first hired them, it was a great deal because it was comparable to renting a storage unit. The added benefit was they had movers who would help me pack and move my stuff to a secure storage space. When they first came, they were prompt and polite and I thought they were pretty good. They did damage my front door, but Clutter compensated for the damage pretty quickly. Today, they returned my stuff. You should know Clutter changed its pricing and it's a lot more than before. I had to pay to schedule a specific time. I got a text warning that the delivery movers would only move things once so be sure to know where they would place it because they would not be moving it again. Clutter follows Covid protocols and asks people the basic Covid questions before they come out. I also got texts when the movers were on their way; they were prompt and polite also. Here's the bad part. I had stored 20 items. Clutter can't find one item and it's going to take 5 days for them to locate it. That makes me nervous. Significantly, 6 of the other items were damaged (almost 33%). I now have to file claims for damage to expensive furniture. A storage bench has a large hole through it. Several tables had their corners bashed in or chipped off. My leather recliner is also damaged on the legs. I don't blame the delivery guys at all. They were very careful unloading and moving my stuff in. It looks like the guys who came initially either didn't wrap properly or my items were bounced around in clutter's storage facility without any concern. The delivery guys helped me document my damages and I am processing the claim too. However, I am concerned on what they'll pay me for my damages. I'll edit my review after I've finished the claims processing. Overall, it's a good service. But for your sanity, make sure they really protect all your items very well - especially the corners and legs of all furniture. For Clutter - Marlyn, Clifford and Eric were professional, prompt and helpful. No complaints about them at all. Great guys and very efficient. Not sure why all my pictures didn't post. I have recently had my items returned to me from Clutter after having them pack up my apartment and store for 4 months. Overall I would not recommend this company for the following reasons: - Lack of professionalism: The movers who packed up my apartment were complaining about their manager while inside my apartment. One of the movers was in an active dispute with their manager about taking a lunch break. He was stepping out to take a phone call from his manager and would then return to the apartment and recount the conversation to his colleague while I was there. The manager was pushing the employee to take a break which would have meant stopping in the middle of packing my apartment and making me wait while he took lunch. The employee refused to take lunch which was the best outcome for me as the customer, but the whole dispute was very unprofessional. - Incorrect labeling of items: Upon receiving my items back it became clear that the original movers did not label and catalog my couch, only the couch cushions. So when the movers who delivered my items back to me loaded up the truck, my couch was not included. When they queried someone at Clutter while in my apartment, the response was that the coach was never stored with them, which is not true as I watched the original movers take it out of my apartment. They returned the couch cushions just not the couch. - Poor customer service: The movers who delivered my items were not able to assist with tracking down my couch. The only option given to me was to file a claim to be reimbursed for the couch and to wait 5-7 days for the claim to be reviewed. I received a response to my claim indicating that the couch is lost and that they will pay out $150 ($1 per pound) for a couch that is worth over $2000. I have had zero explanation as to what happened to my couch. Given it is an expensive couch I would have at a minimum expected a phone call from someone at Clutter sharing more detail regarding the process for trying to find it. Right now I can only speak to a call center in India who follow a script and do not have any additional information to share. Currently living in an apartment with no couch and facing a long wait for a replacement that will leave me out of pocket due to the incompetence of this company. read more

Ever since Shelter in Place started, I'd seen Clutter trucks almost everyday when I was still living in SF. Once I got laid off myself, my household considered some options - stay in SF, move somewhere cheaper, or go stay at our parents' houses for a while - choosing the latter wasn't an easy (nor enjoyable) decision, but Clutter's great service and pricing made the move out process a whole lot easier. We packed our essentials and let Clutter take care of the rest! After signing on to the service and telling them how much stuff you had and any restrictions your building and/or street has, you could chose an upcoming date for their team to get your stuff. There were pretty limited options of dates since everyone and their mom was moving out of SF at that time in the summer, but we still got a good date just before our lease was up! On the day before, you are given a wide time range for when they would could (basically morning or afternoon), but you can track your team's location and status day of. Once they arrived, they are pretty thorough at their job: carefully wrapping, packing, and taking pictures of everything they take so you have a photo inventory of your stuff on your account. The team was professional and, I want to empathize again, very thorough - that means that the packing job would most likely take way longer than you'd expect. We had a decent amount of stuff and they worked overtime to get it all done that day; they didn't finish in the time they allotted but they called their manager and he approved them to stay and even came by to help out himself so they could get it all done that day. The photo inventory is great - once the weather cooled down, we wanted to swap our summer clothes for the winter clothes and it was super easy to find the boxes we needed and pick a date for drop off and pick up. Overall, a great service and experience for this time. We haven't yet experiences a full drop off considering we're still staying at our parents' (and I'm still unemployed) but I'm sure it'll be just as great whenever we decide to move back to the city! read more
