Moved from San Diego to San Francisco and movers were very accommodating. Person over the phone answered all the questions I had prior to the move and was able to get me the date I wanted for the move. Prices are really fair too compared to many placed I called. Packing I was unable to pack everything myself so they stepped in to help. They brought boxes and wrapping materials and carefully packed everything. I was concerned about my TV since it was a long ride to SF but they seemed very experienced and was able to get it safely to the destination. Unloading I appreciate that they ask me which room they want certain things in instead of just dumping everything in one room for me to have to move it again afterwards. They put my office things in the office and kitchen boxes in the kitchen etc... They also helped me install my TV on the wall to make my life easier! Couldnt recommend them enough! read more

I hired Jia Jie moving after a recommendation from a friend. They arrived over 20 minutes early and I wasn't ready at that point. The move was completed in a little under 4 hours from SF to Oakland. I paid the hourly rate + gas fee and decided to pay them the rounded up hourly rate as the tip. They kept pushing against that in person and also called me 5 minutes later to say I hadn't tipped enough and there was a minimum. This was not stated before hand and is also not listed anywhere on their yelp page or website. I have never experienced this before and considering their rates are high I was very frustrated with this customer service. My home was also left messy. Pieces of plastic and bits of debris were left on the floor and the plastic wrap used to protect items was not removed at my new home. Adding to hours of extra work. The tip harassment really pushed me over the edge. I wouldn't hire them again, which is unfortunate because their thoroughness in other areas was appreciated. I've recommended many friends to my old movers but they don't service this area. Customer service like this means no repeat business and no recommendation which is much more financial loss over time compared to a slightly higher tip. We hired Allen to help with a long distance move of my elderly parents. It was a one-bedroom move about 80 miles across the Bay Area. Normally, being the DIY type, I would have rented a U-haul truck and remembered to lift with my legs, but this time we decided to seek out help. No regrets at all! Allen and his helper showed up on time with a huge truck and all the necessary tools and packaging equipment needed for a successful move. Since everything was going into storage, they took the time to neatly wrap those items that appeared to need protection. They worked quickly and efficiently, and I never felt like they were trying to milk their time. The initial estimate given was reasonable, and I think we would have been completely ripped off if we had gone with some corporate moving company, rather than a local business. I had a very disappointing experience with this moving company and would strongly caution others before booking. We had a confirmed agreement for 2 movers at $120/hour with a 3-hour minimum, plus an $80 gas fee. Our appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM, but the movers didn't arrive until 1:40 PM--already a frustrating start, especially when you're on a tight moving schedule. Things only got worse from there. They showed up with a truck that was clearly too small for the job, which resulted in them having to make two separate trips. This significantly increased the total time and cost, which felt completely avoidable had they brought the proper equipment in the first place. Despite the original quote and expectations, I ended up being charged $640--far more than anticipated. It felt like poor planning on their part directly led to me paying the price. To make matters even more uncomfortable, the movers were pushy about receiving a tip, which felt inappropriate given the delays, inefficiency, and overall experience. Overall, this was a stressful and frustrating move. Between the late arrival, lack of proper equipment, inflated final cost, and unprofessional behavior, I would not recommend this company. I requested a quote from Jia Jie initially through Yelp and they had the lowest price as well as the highest reviews. My husband called Allan a month later and he picked up right away and confirmed the quote. He was very helpful and responsive via text when we shared photos of our place that we needed moved. Based on our photos (1 bed 1 bath apartment in SF with elevator and loading dock), Allan recommended 2 movers. The day before our moving day Allan sent us the contact information for our movers and on the day of, our movers, Allan (different from our main contact) and Wong arrived early. They were extremely professional, careful, and efficient. We had everything packed and really needed help with the big pieces of furniture about 8 items. Allan and Wong were quick but mindful, looking up to make sure they wouldn't hit anything above them with taller pieces, wrapping furniture, watching doorways, etc. The unloading of our things was just as efficient and careful. Allan and Wong worked very hard and tried to stay to 3 hours, which my husband had discussed with the main Allan. But we saw they were hustling so going over 3 hours was not an issue. Over the years, have had some very good moving experiences with the movers I've hired, but Jia Jie Moving is something else entirely. Look at their other reviews. I was referred to them from another agent I know, who hired them to move her from Sausalito to Novato. She also had nothing but high praise for them - like me, she's always referring clients to movers and contractors. My wife looked at me with wide eyes after just an hour of their starting the job, and was so impressed. We have A LOT of stuff - TOO MUCH, and we know it. I felt bad beforehand knowing how difficult and long this job would be. 4 movers the first day...8 hours; 3 movers the second day...3 hours. All during that time, not one complaint, lack of smile or lack of hustle and compliance; no attitude, just army-like precision and non-stop action. Big, heavy items. I've used Allen and Jia Jie moving three times now, and could not recommend a better moving company! They're fair in pricing (less than most others I've checked with), careful with your things, bring every possible necessary tool/box/tape/spare part needed for a move. And they're extremely quick and efficient. Our first two moves required a LOT of stairs, narrow hallways and tight corners (classic SF apartments) and they executed flawlessly. Hired Jia Jie Moving recently for an apartment move. We requested a quote via Yelp and they got back to us with great responsiveness. The rate is $110 an hour for two movers plus $80 in truck fees. On the day of the move, they arrived right on time. For only two men, they were incredible quick and efficient. They had to move two peoples worth of stuff including large furniture items and boxes. From there, we went to the new apartment and they met us their right on time as well. Unloading was also very efficient and took about the same amount of time as loading. Since the price was based on time, I really appreciated that they didn't appear to milk the time. At the end of our move, we inspected all of our furniture which also appear in great condition without any scratches or damages from the move. Booked for moving a 48" residential 600 pound Subzero refrigerator from Peninsula to SF that I bought on craigslist. Very responsive via text upon inquiry. I was very clear on conditions of pickup and delivery, including photos of refrigerator. I was given a quote quickly and their availability - luckily the next day was open (which seems insane). Due to sellers schedule, i was actually only able to confirm the morning of the proposed move (next day). Despite this, the movers were able to be booked despite me giving them 2.5 hours notice - basically they were on standby until I confirmed on my end. 2 guys showed up 10 minutes early which seemed insane (that it's only 2 people), but they wrapped the fridge in blankets and plastic wrap, moved it out of the house, down the walkway, and loaded the fridge into the truck in under 15 minutes. I advised them that FOR SURE 2 people would be unable to unload the fridge in SF - I live on a hill and 7 steps up from the street - remember this thing is 600 pounds. Upon arrival at my house, 2 other guys were waiting. I will honestly say I'm not sure how 4 people "should" have moved the fridge up the steps. But they sort of shoved it / slid it / pulled it up. Not a job I'd like to do ever. Aside from a very minor bending of the top bracket which will be fixed by me with a rubber mallet, the fridge arrived unscathed. Best movers I have ever used. They were efficient, on time, hard-working, and fast and careful.

i hired jia jie moving for a move from south bay to sf, for both packing and moving for a 2 bedroom house. i am only partially unpacked so far, but i felt the need to report on what i've found. first, the upsides: they were on time, packed relatively quickly, and the foreman was nice, and, afaict, they did not damage my old place or my new place. for the most part, when i explicitly told them something was fragile, they were careful with it. the foreman also managed to disassemble and reassemble a workbench that would have otherwise not been able to fit through the door. now, the downsides: tl;dr: if you use jia jie, either pack yourself, or be *extremely* clear how to pack, pre-label everything, and do not assume they will, for example, know not to toss open bottles of handsoap in with cosmetics. i own a number of pieces of computer hardware, audio equipment, and such. for most of it, i did not think to explicitly let them know that it was fragile, as i figured "shiny electronic looking stuff near the computer in the office" probably would register as important. apparently this was not the case to them. i found a $400 network switch placed, unpadded, next to literal, actual rocks (i have a pair of geode bookends) that were also unpadded. $1200s of audio electronics were just placed in a box without so much as paper wrapping, next to all sorts of other stuff. i took glass vacuum tubes out of one of my amps and placed them on top of it in order to indicate that it was fragile, and i caught them about to just toss them in a box unwrapped (i have not yet found out what happened to that). there was so much more in that style (incl flight sim equipment, headphones, etc). lest you think it was just electronics that they gave this treatment to, i found an open bottle of handsoap (it leaked a bit, because it was open) tossed in with my eyeshadow pallets and other makeup, makeup tossed in an *in-use* sharps container, random stuff tossed into boxes of medical supplies, which were then scattered across multiple packing boxes (more on that later). i also found cleaning supplies packed, unwrapped, with food products, and nice dresses and shoes tossed in with sharp metal hangers, without any effort to prevent them from catching or separate the two. furthermore, before the movers got here, i made an effort to make sure stuff i wanted together in one box was close together (e.g. everything for my computer was placed on my desk or a small side table next to my desk). unfortunately, this does not seem to have translated to things being kept together. all that being said, the foreman, when he was packing, did seem to have kept a good eye on what he was doing. it just seems like the other folks kind threw things in haphazardly. unfortunately, he frequently had to go tell the other packers to be careful with things i asked them to be careful with, or to stop them from doing something unsensible, and he did not catch all the incidents by a long shot, apparently. all that being said, so far i have not found anything that has suffered serious damage, by some minor miracle. some amount of minor cosmetic damage (e.g. scratches on the networking switch from the geodes), soap on the outside of a bunch of my makeup (but thankfully nothing popped open), etc. i have not unpacked everything tho, so there may still be some damage i am not yet aware of. EDIT: while I have still not finished unpacking, I feel the need to dock a star -- they packed a cabinet I explicitly asked them not to pack. normally this would not be a big deal, but in said cabinet was an exploded bottle of bleach (hence why i asked them not to pack it -- was planning to dispose of it properly), which they packed with other stuff, getting bleach crystals all over that stuff and generally forming a hazard. read more

This company was recommended by a friend of ours so we used them for our recent move. Very very happy with the service. We only needed two movers for a 1 bedroom. One of them wrapped items and moved them to the elevator while the other person loaded the truck. They were very efficient. We also liked that they were very careful with all of our fragile items and nothing was damaged in the move. Their rate was great but fyi they do expect a tip of $10/hour per mover. Super efficient, respectful and careful with all the belongings and they wore masks all the time.
