I really really wanted to give this place 5 stars after going in last summer with a small leak in my back tire... it was a Thursday and rather than saying they would give me a call when it was finished they said,"just hold tight we can take a look at it and fix it while you wait! we want you to have your car for the weekend" I'm like WOW Awesome service .. small nail, fixed, I go to find my wallet to pay and noticed I forgot it at home (a few blocks away) They said, don't worry about it, just come back after the weekend and pay! GREAT customer service. 5+ stars on that experience. Unfortunately, 6 months later, my same tire started leaking air again... then my VSA light came on... then my power steering light (2012 Honda Civic). I decide to take it to Cmarr right away knowing they did such a quick and honest job last time. I take it in on a Wednesday morning and I tell them to take their time, I don't need my car that day. They end up keeping it over night. I call the next mid-morning asking what they had found. I get a vague answer and that they're still working on it. That's fine. I was told I would receive a phone call or email from them later that afternoon. No call or email. I call the next morning asking about the status of my car. They tell me that it is a computer issue and that they're reconfiguring the system and it will be around $300. I was quite shocked at this number since it didn't require any new parts. Maybe I'm being ignorant. I searched online and didn't find anything quite that high. They said it would be finished around 2pm. 4pm rolls around and still no call. I walk to the shop and my car is sitting outside finished. I pay ($400 for this issue, tire plug, and new wiper blades) and ask what the issue was with my system and he didn't have a clear answer for me. Overall, my car seems to be fixed and driving fine. Just disappointed after having such a great experience the first time. And I hope that it's not because I'm a young female who knows very little about cars that I paid $400 for a few hours of work. read more

This is a great shop with great mechanics. They've worked on my 2001 Jetta twice before this review and I've called to troubleshoot some problems over the phone. They were very kind in helping me prioritize what needed to be done. I'm giving Cmarr 2 stars, not because they lack expertise or excellent workmanship, it's because I don't get properly quoted. I brought my car in today to get my battery changed, which was still covered under warranty and to reinstall a bottom panel under my steering wheel because I installed a car stereo. When I talked to Eric he said it was $30 for the labor to change out the battery. When I asked how much to reinstall the panel under the steering wheel he said verbatim, "I can just take care of it," and didn't give me a price. That sounds like free to me. When I picked up my car, the bill was $88 and I was charged the labor for reinstalling the panel. I called two days later and left a message to discuss this but never got a call back. When I got my brakes replaced earlier this year, I was quoted one price and when I picked up my car, the bill was $80 more. When I get a quote, I expect it to be the price when I pick up my car. It isn't okay to not fully disclose the full price of repair, labor, and tax. Since this has happened twice in a row, it will not make me a loyal customer. read more

I'm so glad I found this on Yelp. Cmarr is family owned by Eric and Curtis, who also employ a lot of their family. Therefore, it seems like a pretty jovial atmosphere. It's good to hear people happy in their jobs, which generally means a job well done. I called around to get a price on how much it would be to replace my headlight bulbs, and both had burned out. One place in capitol hill (Courtesy Tire), quoted $30-$50 PER light, even if i provided the bulb. Eric charged me $10 TOTAL for installation, and was done in 3 minutes flat. I provided the bulbs (thinking I could do it myself!) Sometimes you go into auto shops and feel like a nuisance, or the staff is not personable, although they may be good with cars. Cmarr provides awesome customer service as well as quality. I pity the fool that goes somewhere else! They gonna bust you up! read more

Yes, the mechanics call to talk with you and call you back - and yes, sometimes they don't call when they say they will - BUT, I got to talk with the person who was working on my car... not someone who dances their way through the interaction. I chose to bring my car to CMARR because of all the good reviews it has. However, now that I've had a chance to deal with them, I have no idea why there are so many good reviews. The guy tried to sell me an expensive synthetic oil change for my pretty old (2005) absolutely regular car. He said they don't have any regular oil. When I was about to cancel the oil change, he quickly added that he can go buy some, which was fine with me. Then, I asked him to look at the noise my rear suspension makes, he concluded that my struts need to be replaced. It would cost me $800 (which is a somewhat fair price), but I didn't want to spend this much money at that time on the car I might sell soon, so I said no. However, he still charged me ~$50 for "diagnostics" (which, I assume, involved just looking/pushing on my car's back as the literally hasn't unscrewed a single bolt). With that, I think it's fair to conclude that this fine establishment's main priority is getting money out of the customer rather than helping him/her get the best deal in terms of price/value. read more

Overall, very satisfied with my experience with Cmarr. They re-did my suspension system and cv axles, plus the oil and a few belts while they were at it. We even had a misunderstanding during the process, and they went out of their way with excellent customer service to make sure I left a happy customer. I'm giving these guys 5 stars for NOT working on my car - and here's why: It's a Mercedes CL 55 AMG with a very sophisticated hydraulic suspension, called ABC. The guy was straight up honest enough to say that because this system requires special equipment and is very tricky to work on, they would recommend I keep looking for a shop that specializes in this to do the work. I took our 2005 4Runner to Cmarr about 1 year ago. Long story short, they had to replace the timing belt and a few other things. I subsequently moved to Boise and had another issue with the 4Runner. The shop here showed me that there had been an error in the routing of a wire when the timing belt was replaced. I called Eric and told him about the issue and sent a copy of the work order correcting the mistake. He did not hesitate to apologize for the error and he refunded me the cost of the correction. I do not expect perfection every time...errors will occur. To me, it is a mark of a great service provider if they stand by their work and correct any errors/deficiencies. BTW, we have taken our 4Runner to Cmarr many times and this was the only time there was a minor issue. Well done read more

WOW! I love these guys! I needed a timing belt and water pump changed. They got in me in their busy schedule in two days, which is pretty quick in my opinion. My first person to person experience with them was great, they talked me through what they will change and how much it will cost. They told me its a 7.5h of work to change the timing belt and water pump, which is pretty reasonable I guess. I was a little worried that they will add another $300 to their estimate since other mechanics quoted me about $1200, and they were doing it for $820. The job took them 9 hours, and I though that they would definitely charge about $1200! I was wrong, they only charged me for 5 hours of work and took off $80 of their estimate. The job was done perfectly and I'm very happy with the results. They didn't oversell me on things that I don't need, even though I asked them to check the car out and let me know what I need to change. I already scheduled another appointment for a transmission flush which they told me that I don't need yet. I'm very impressed by their organized shop, employees and their amazing honesty. Left my Mazda Miata for repair at Cmarr Automotive after I noticed the clutch started slipping. They ended up replacing both clutch and flywheel, as well as fixing a few other issues they discovered during vehicle inspection. Final price was reasonable and within the initial quoted price range. The guys at the shop are good at what they do (repairing your vehicle), however they have much to learn when it comes to customer service. I have left 3 messages (1 a day for 3 days) trying to get some information on my care which is currently still on their lot, and no response. Also, besides the 3 messages I have left, I have called on average 10 times/day trying to get someone to answer the phone and every time it rings and rings and rings. I guess in order to get any type of information from these guys is to physically go in and ask them in person. Again, I will say they are good mechanics and honest guys! But, seriously just answer the phone when it rings, or check your messages because some things need to be taken care of in an orderly fashion. read more

First of all, BELIEVE every five star rating for C-Marr . Working with Eric and Curtis turned out a totally outrageous car repair experience. First of all, they didn't charge for looking at car to determine the problem. Once they started the work they were right on target about the repair and charged only the estimated cost. They were honest in pointing out what we should expect in terms of future repairs but no hard sell to get it done immediately....wow, that's something unexpected. Not only that, they changed the oil and rotated the tires!! They run the shop like a well oiled machine. These guys are the friendliest, most intelligent and savvy businessmen. Ive always take my Toyota van to the dealer for all the services, never really trusting the independents to be competent. But the cost of the 90K service was enough to drive me away for a cheaper alternative. Yelp showed Cmarr as one of the highest rated, and after talking to them, I had them do the job for 25% less, and with all oem parts. The only scary part was finding parking when dropping the car off. It was packed, and street parking was scarce. The were very thorough, and I felt the level of service was just as good as the dealer, just without the fancy waiting rooms. The owners were very nice, and helpful. I will be going back for all my needs, based on this visit. The one phrase that he quoted still resonates " It's not hard to beat the dealers price on repairs" aint that the truth. read more

These are by far some of the best mechanics in Seattle. Honest, reliable, dependable and hard working. I have taken several cars in to Cmarr in the past year and had nothing but a great experience with them. Good clean shop, young smart mechanics, and they don't bs you. They helped my Audi get another couple of months out of it before it died (it was a hand me down) for only $200. On another service appointment, they mistakenly completed some work without my authorization (would have had them do it anyways!) and they told me they wouldn't bill me for it. I ended up splitting the cost with them, and they got a customer for life. I agree with all of the other comments about cost - this shop is consistently half the price of dealerships, and they work hard to get urgent repairs in and out in a short time. I check yelp reviews before going to any service shop. Took my 2010 Tundra in for break service last week due to my steering wheel shaking during breaking. I spoke with Curt when I arrived. While they were very busy, he was able to fit me in to do a brake check. It was determined that my front disks were warped causing me to feel the vibration while breaking. Since he had my wheels off, I then asked him how much life I have left on my front break pads, he informed me that I about 15 to 20% of life remaining. I asked if he could go ahead and replace them. He didn't have my pads in stock at the time but informed me that he would have them delivered. Well, as they were turning my disks, the front break pads arrived from Toyota. Everything went very smoothly and my truck now rides like new again. Curt also observed and recommended that I replace my OEM BFG Tires before the winter season. He showed me the tread warning nubs - vs - the amount of tread I had left. Not very much. I've put 47K+ miles on this truck since new. I took my car to Discount Tire and had the tires replaced with Michelin LTX M/S2. Cmarr Automotive is a great shop with friendly, honest service. I highly recommend this shop. read more

i can't believe it took me this long to find these guys... they are the best! i have had a passat wagon since 2000 and have been going to Hans automotive and getting ripped off. i finally figured out i was burning money with them and went to yelp and found cmarr. they're a family run business, hard working guys, super smart, honest, straight forward and know what they're doing. their voicemail box is full a lot, but don't be discouraged, they do pick up during the day and are great at communicating what's happening with the car. they also suggested getting parts from alternative sources v. going the expensive route. i really can't say enough about this business, i've been in seattle my whole life and have never felt this good about someone working on my car. read more
