Went to COA Del Mar for my daughters birthday. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server, Sean, came over quickly and informed us that we still had time to order drinks during happy hour. The drinks came out for the whole group promptly. Sean then took our order and answered all of our questions about the dishes. We ordered appetizers that Sean had recommeded and all were very good. For dinner I had the scallops which were cooked to perfection and everyone in our group enjoyed dishes ordered. After dinner we had dessert and again everything was on point. Had an amazing time for my birthday with my kids. Coa is their favorite place. We got to our reservation early on a weeknight and sat in the bar to enjoy a cocktail. As it turned out we hit the tail end of happy hour and our bartender took great care of us! The drink were large and delicious!! We were seated promptly at our appointed time and had a lovely table overlooking the lake. Our server was really attentive and described the menu in detail. I was surprised that everyone around me was ordering steak at what I thought is a seafood house, but all really seemed to enjoy their meal. My kids sure did! I ordered the seafood special and the flavor and cook were really good. I wish the skin had been removed because as it sat (on the bottom) in the sauce it got really flabby and inedible. That was the only negative of a really nice evening and I plan to return soon. read more

Only complaint was server breaking the biggest rule of being a server and that was reaching directly all the across me , with his back to me up to close and personal to get the silverware from the other side of my table space. The Food is prepared by master chef's- and my experience was 5- Our Server was delightful a fun unique name that escapes me - she was excellent. And her assistant was Lucas P. Again - very attentive. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Coa Del Mar. We did make reservations, so we were seated quickly with a great view of the lake. We ordered a couple of cocktails (margarita and old fashioned). My wife said it was one of the best margaritas she's had in the Treasure Valley. My old fashioned was good, but I've had better. We started with Ahi Poke, which was very good, then for the main dish, Chilean Sea Bass and Sea Scallops, and both didn't disappoint. We tried this latest edition to the BarbaCoa restaurants, and it was very good. It was recently opened when we went, so there were some issues with orders being correct, hot rocks not being included with Steaks, etc. Overall, though, good food and atmosphere and wait staff. My wife and I had dinner at Coa Del Mar with another couple. It was a last minute reservation on a Friday evening, but the restaurant is very large and I managed to snag one. We sat indoors, although the patio looked like an excellent option. The restaurant is new and beautifully done. It's affiliated with a few other locally well-known restaurants and carries over a few items from its sister restaurant Barbacoa. The front of house staff were all excellent. Our server Tony could not have been a better host. He knows everything about the restaurant and the menu, and is very personable. We started the meal with drinks. We had a chilled bottle of Kawarsuru Junmai Ginjo sake, which is excellent. After that, since we had a couple of red wine drinkers, we switched to a 2021 Taft Street Merlot. I know; very 80s, but still very nice. For appetizers, we ordered a Caviar Potato (because Idaho!) and Crispy Octopus (Seared & sliced with spicy chorizo. Topped with a ginger-lemon yogurt drizzle. Presented with our signature Del Mar coleslaw). Both were good, although I was disappointed by the small size of the potato; seriously, Idaho! For the entree, my wife and I split the Bouillabaisse (Lobster, prawns, scallops, clams, mussels, seasonal fish & tomato. Simmered in a saffron fish broth). I tend to splash myself when eating bouillabaisse, so I asked Tony for a bib. Coa Del Mar isn't a bib-type of place, but he was kind enough to get me a black apron from the kitchen. Thank you, Tony! The other couple both had the Grilled Seafood Platter (Lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, scallops, mashed potatoes & broccolini. Served with a pomegranate lemon-caper beurre blanc) and clearly enjoyed their meals. For dessert, we ordered the Carrot Cake, Chocolate Mousse and Coconut Crème Brûlée to share. All were terrific. Coa Del Mar has an extensive menu and we didn't even begin to scratch the surface. I'd definitely return for another meal the next time that I'm in the Boise area. read more

The food was delicious and the setting was great. We typically go to Barbacoa, but decided to try Coa Del Mar since it's closer to home. We're not seafood people, but our friends are so it worked out perfect because there was a perfect blend of surf and turf. The wait staff was attentive, and the atmosphere was bright and energetic. My birthday is NYE. Every year I choose an upscale restaurant to have my bday dinner. If I decide not to travel, I have done Barbacoa many times, Chandlers, Ruth Chris, etc. This year I really wanted halibut and I'd never been to Coa Del Mar so that's what I chose. The service was outstanding, very attentive, very personable, enjoyed each member of staff from front to back of house. The food, not so much. My halibut was dry and plated on top of cold pineapple and smears of sauce. One piece of my broccolini was raw and the other charred beyond belief, so burned that I made the entire plate smell bad. I also ordered the 'break the bowl' Caesar salad, the salad was incredible but the Parmesan bowl was stale. It was near impossible to snap a piece of the bowl off to eat it, I had to bend it back and forth, back and forth, like an old piece of candy. For dessert I requested the a dessert that was no longer available so settled on the espresso semifreddo and donuts. The taste was nice but the donuts needed a couple more minutes because they were doughy in the center. Women's bathroom had water splashed all over the vanity and floor and needed an air freshener. Birthday let down...Came here for my birthday with high hopes due to all the social media hype. First off the positives- large open space great for large parties, nice views of a lake, outdoor space for dining al fresco will be great, decor makes it feel like a destination spot for parties, special occasions etc... Servers were nice but not the service I expected from an upscale place. No one asked how our food was or came to check on us until it was time to clean off the table. The "needs work"- we ordered the Australian Lobster $80 (it's my birthday, lobster is my fav- so why not?) flavor on the lobster was good however it was very dry on top. They did not de shell the lobster and it was difficult to eat the bottom half. The mashed potatoes that went with it tasted spoiled. I don't know if they were left out or if the ingredients were bad but I could not eat them. Husband had the macadamia halibut and he said it was tasteless. Had some myself and agree it needed some kind of seasoning. The "good"- the potato fries are really good and the table side guacamole. The guacamole comes in at $17 and the servers stood there waiting for a tip (we were unprepared and had no cash). When they realized we were not giving them the tip, one of them said "have a nice dinner" in a certain tone. They also had a $20 bill sticking out of the tip jar for a subtle "hint". Drinks- Abaia - didn't have the best flavor, nothing wrong with it per se. Deviled eggs- not very flavorful, they had dried out lime wedges on the plate. As far as ambiance, the place was packed and very loud. I had to shout to talk to my husband. The music was also way up. I usually wait to review restaurants until I've been at least 2x, however since they are a new place I thought I'd give a heads up. Had the pleasure of trying the new Barbacoa in Eagle and it lived up to the reputation of the original Barbacoa and the Coa De Jima downtown. This family really leaned into Robert's legacy and delivered the over-the-top experience and backed it up with excellent quality and service. They are really doing a great job of growing a fine dining empire in the Treasure Valley! We all had different seafood entrees and everyone really loved what the ordered. The table side guacamole was a bit off with huge steams still attached to the cilantro making it taste bitter. We went to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary and we were excited to try it out. The vibe of Coa Del Mar was light and bright, with gorgeous views of the water. Our waitress was Amber H. - who was utterly charming, attentive and knowledgeable- the menu was extensive, so Amber's comments on items I asked about, was just perfect! I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was moist and delicious. Huge portion. My wife ordered the 10 oz Hot Rock Filet. it came out sizzling on an 800 degree "rock." Really fun presentation. She ordered it med rare and it came out absolutely perfect. She says it was delicious. We shared single orders of Coconut Shrimp, Shrimp Cocktail and table side Guacamole (4 people) All perfect and generous portions. Great deal on Happy Hour drinks. Fast, friendly service, and this is on a Friday when they were slammed. It was cool to see so many young staff members working together as a team and cranking out the service. It's a huge place and pretty loud overall. They seated us toward the back with a view of the pond. It is a bit quieter back there. Place is rockin! My husband took me here for my 77th birthday this weekend. Our server was amazing, but dinner was awful. Appetizers were good, but everything after that was a great disappointment. My chowder was terrible and my husband's salad was just ok. Our main courses were where things really went down hill. I had the Chilean Sea Bas which was way over cooked and smothered in a very heavy sauce. My husband lobster was also very dry & over cooked. Our server was so nice, and could see we both ate very litter of or meals . She asked if I wanted a different sauce, but I never send my meals back. It's really 4.5 stars, especially for this valley, but I'll revisit and update soon. The food was good to great. My fish, Orange Roughy, was great. Presentation was above board, fish was cooked perfect and tasted fresh. Portion was large. Pairings with purple sweet potatoes and broccolini worked great. Wife's hot rock filet was very good, as was the sauce with it. Honestly the fumes from the rock were a bit off putting, but moving it next time is an easy fix. Her mashed potatoes were just ok, as they were a bit cool and flavorless before dumping some sauce on. Wife loves French Onion soup and was not remotely disappointed. Probably her favorite in Idaho. I had the Brussel Sprouts side as an appetizer and was very happy with them. Crème Brûlée was not great. Crust was frankly too thick and I think the coconut just didn't work for me. I'm a bit picky on this dish and think some others would be less critical. As it was our Anniversary, we were treated to a complimentary funnel cake and ice cream, with a huge sparkler, that was great. Frankly I preferred it to Creme Brûlée. Wife loved her Huckleberry Martini while my old fashioned was on the low end of expectations given I could not taste the bourbon. Both were presented very nicely. Place is beautiful but so unnecessarily loud. Clearly seating outside would be preferred next time. All levels of service were great. Attentive and timely. Our waitress did great, though tried a bit hard. We like low key. Again, others would prefer to extra enthusiasm and she was great on all other aspects. Not sure if this is the kind of place that value should be part of the ratings, but for Idaho you can get much less for the same or more. As Eagle residents we are excited to have this place and will be back. If we can get the same or even more next time I'll probably flip to 5 stars but will let them earn it. We'll be back. read more

This place exceeded my expectations. I was not a fan of coa del jima so I was hesitant about this place. We were able to sit at a waterfront table which was nice and they had the heaters on above so it wasn't too cold sitting there. One of my complaints is how noisy the whole restaurant was. I thought with our table being on the edge of the restaurant that it would be quieter but it was not. Hard to hear. I got the virgin mojito to start with and it was quite tasty. Not too sugary and decently priced. We also started with the table side guacamole which was really good. I chose the elk chop with huckleberry sauce, potatoes and asparagus. A little light on the vegetables but wow was it good. I've had ground elk before but not a chop. It was really good. My one other complaint is their pricing. It's very steep. I do appreciate that it seems like they try to get fresh local ingredients and so I'm assuming that's why it was a little pricey. We ended dinner with the carrot cake which was one of the better carrot cakes I've had in awhile. All in all, I'd recommend trying this place at least once for a special occasion! read more

From the front door hostess to the manager coming over and making sure we had our cocktails asap, to our fabulous server Lisa who was ON-IT, warm and courteous service, you could tell she was genuinely proud to be a part of the restaurant and loved what she was doing!! The atmosphere was electric, so much to see and the details, wow! Our seating was cozy, and our 2 servers were very attentive. The food was beautifully plated and most importantly delicious! We had the spicy calamari, shrimp/crab ceviche, lobster mac, and seafood sampler....OH and not to forget the coconut creme Brulé, OMG!!! Reconfirmed in a text sent to me 2 days before about the 5:30pm reservation for 8 people, celebrating a birthday. Received a personal phone call from Kaitlin the day of our reservation, asking if we still were 8 people for 5:30p, which I "confirmed" and was a birthday. Arrived at the restaurant 35 min early. Checked in with the hostess with our name for 5:30p with 8 people. She said they would "set up the table "?! After setting 3 other groups of 4 people, still no table. Called up a manager looking guy....would not make eye contact with me. Finally our table was ready, now after 6pm. Set us (8 adults) at a table clearly only big enough for 6 people. A pretty disappointing birthday dinner. If this restaurant were in a big city outside of Idaho they could not compete. They are charging high prices for mediocre food and very weak cocktails. Appetizers: deviled eggs were so heavy handed on the truffle they absolutely reeked. Crab cakes were stringy and fishy. All of the cocktails tasted like they contained absolutely no alcohol. Entrées: Prime rib was cold, chewy and extremely dry even though I ordered it medium rare. The mushroom risotto had the texture of thanksgiving stuffing. It was laughable. Gordon Ramsey would be appalled! The prime rib appeared to be medium rare but there wasn't an ounce of moisture whatsoever. The au jus and horseradish didn't help. Sea bass was enjoyed by my significant other. Desserts were very good and service was friendly and attentive. Isiah is THE MAN!!! Hats off to the whole crew, but especially Isiah who made my son's 10th birthday so memorable and special! The whole restaurant is decorated with "sea creatures" and Vegas quality detail.
