Globe trotting on Eastern Shore, Ocean City to be more specific. i have not been onnthe Ocean City beach in years and what a wonderful choice. The weather was absolutely perfect, plenty of parking on the street and we were luck to get an outside Ocean view seating. Our goal was brunch 5he pop in and out of restaurants and pubs as we walked the boardwalk. We had the most amazing young lady serving our table, and since we were celebrating a birthday, of course we started with mimosa to toast the day...the food was nothing lessnthan a culinary delight...was unable to complete my meal. The most i can say about Coastal Salt is that it is Boardwalk fare. Decent food, not great, not bad. Had the Perllo chicken. We stopped in for a business lunch. There was only one other table in the restaurant, and the music was blaring. The waiter said he would turn it down, and I didn't even ask. He knew it was crazy. We tried to order salads, but the waiter said the restaurant was closing the next day and they didn't have the ingredients to make the salads. So, we had the deviled eggs and soup. The soup came out cold. It would have probably been good if the cheese had melted. My husband said deviled eggs were good. The view of the ocean was the best part of the lunch. read more

This place is lauded as one of the best for drinks and seafood but I don't think they are staffed properly as our service was pretty slow despite being a table of two on the off season. A table near ours got angry and insisted on getting their food to go as they had been waiting almost 30 min for their entrees. Their cocktails were strong and well balanced, and their pork sandwich had exactly what described but the bread was barely holding on and desperately needed more acid. Jake comped it, but it added to the chaos. - My son couldn't eat here due to a nut allergy. What he wanted (burger, mac & cheese) wasn't safe, so we settled for chicken & potatoes a-la-cart. The bill showed $10 for dry chicken, & $9 for bland potatoes. - My wife's mashed potatoes were cold, but quickly replaced by the manager. Everything was great but please don't go here expecting a cheap meal. 2 margaritas alone cost me $28 Seating inside is nice if you're seeking air conditioning outdoor seating is nice for the beach scenery. Wanted so much for this to be our go to breakfast/brunch spot. Last year, sat at the bar around HH, and had good drinks, good apps, and good conversation with the bartender. Asked the server if I could substitute sausage instead of ham in a Western Omelette, his response "not sure, let me see how the chef feels about that", well, the chef didn't "feel" good about that, so I just ordered it as is. When it came out, was hardly a meal, about 25 potatoes pieces (they were tasty) and the smallest, least amount of fillings omelet I have ever had, I would be suprised if it was 2 eggs, it was about the size of a standard piece of white bread, same LxWxH, including all the fillings, very underwhelming, and blander. Fresh squeezed OJ was pulpy just like I like it, but not very sweet, much better OJ at Bayside Skillet, and much bigger omelettes, just saying. I left hungry, fortunately I grabbed some Thrashers fries to fill my belly. Anyway, was turned off from the start with the comment on "chefs feeling", what ever happened to good service? It wasn't like I was asking for a lot, substitute one meat for another meat, instead of grabbing a serving of ham, just grab a serving of sausage, probably right next to each other. They had a soup special for St Patrick's Day which was lamb and corned beef and vegetables and potatoes etc which was very good. The Mediterranean scallops were tasty as well. Terrific seafood right on the boardwalk. This restaurant, open in the off season, has amazing views of the ocean and excellent food and drink options. My wife and I stopped in on our October trip to Ocean City and grabbed a seat at their comfy bar. The bartender was friendly and got us our drinks quickly (a traditional gin and tonic and their specialty drink "East Coast Fashion"). Both were very good and good pours so we did not need a second. I ordered the Blackened Fish Tacos and my wife had the Crab Cobb. The fish on the tacos were fresh with a nice crunchy slaw and flavorful corn and black bean salsa. My wife's Cobb was more than enough crab with spicy pico and bright lime vinaigrette. It was a wonderful adventure and great to spend some of the last warm days by the sea. read more

We came in late in the afternoon on a Thursday and sat outside facing the ocean. They first seated us at a table in the sun and we asked if we could sit in the shade so they moved us right away. Our waitress came right over and helped us. She was great and made suggestions on what was good and she was very patient with us when we couldn't decide. We would not come back due to the poor service: the hostess was quite rude in communicating the kitchen's unavailability while they transitioned from breakfast service to lunch, it took more than five minutes for a server to greet us and ask for our drinks, there was some leftover particle in one of our water glasses and when asked for a replacement our server gave some pushback and reacted with disbelief, our food came out with everyone's order incorrect: two burgers and a crab cake sandwich were plated with the wrong sides, one of us had a crustacean allergy. At minimum, we expect an establishment to be much more careful preparing dishes that may be contaminated with allergens that the diners explicitly listed when ordering. read more

Wonderful place right on the OC boardwalk! We came here both for lunch when we got in and dinner later that night. Prices are to be expected being a prime location! The vibes are a little more upscale for the boardwalk but still family-friendly. The drinks are pricey but strong. We ordered some apps and meal, and my favorite was the Coastal Roll. read more

We visited Coastal Salt on August 11th for my son's birthday. We are locals and had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for over a year after hearing so many great things. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We were a party of eight and had made a reservation. After being seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for our waiter to greet us. He mentioned bringing water, but we had to ask to order alcoholic beverages. After placing our drink order, it took quite a while for the drinks to arrive. He then left and never returned to take our food order. After sitting for another 15 minutes, I finally had to approach the hostess and ask for a new server. Marley came over immediately, reviewed the specials, and took our appetizer order. The appetizers arrived fairly quickly, but by that point, we had already been there close to an hour. Unfortunately, the food itself was inconsistent. We ordered the evening steak and shrimp special (approximately $70), lobster mac & cheese, crab cakes, and several other items. The steak and shrimp were nothing special, the shrimp lacked flavor, the crab cakes contained multiple pieces of shell, and the lobster mac & cheese arrived cold. I returned the mac & cheese and declined a replacement because, after already being there for so long, I didn't want to wait any longer. We ordered another round of drinks, which was also forgotten. Eventually, Marley brought them out and told us they were on the house, which we appreciated. The restaurant also provided two complimentary desserts, which was a nice gesture. I spoke with the manager and explained the entire experience. He apologized and offered us a gift card to give the restaurant another opportunity. Unfortunately, after spending more than $400 on a birthday dinner that was, at best, mediocre, being offered a $25 gift card felt incredibly underwhelming. It wouldn't even cover the cost of one person's meal. What should have been a special birthday dinner turned into an evening of waiting, having to repeatedly ask for service, and dealing with food-quality issues. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where we could spend $400 and receive significantly better food and service. The complimentary drinks and desserts were appreciated, but unfortunately, they weren't enough to make up for the overall experience. We had really wanted to love Coastal Salt, but based on this experience, we will not be returning. read more
